Whelp, here we are about fifteen years later and Turners in San Marcos is still one of my main go-to gun stores in San Diego. I have a large gun store about five minutes from where I live but I would sooner drive to Turners to conduct business than to go to the other gun store close by. Yesterday I stopped in on our way to Temecula to do some window shopping and to look at hunting rifles for an upcoming trip. I was assisted by Amanda who has been working at this location and helping me for several years. While I was originally in the market for a new rifle after browsing the selection decided it was also time for a new field gun. Amanda helped me compare a Beretta A300 Ultima and an A400 and ultimately I decided on the A300. The price was a good price and she had a brand new one disassembled and still in the box, so after about fifteen minutes of paperwork I was on my way out of the store. The 10-day wait always seems to drag out, but I'm looking forward to picking up my new shotgun. This Turners seems to be pretty dialed in both when it comes to purchases as well as private party transfers and their selection is always well stocked. I would say Turners as a whole has a pretty respectable footprint in the hunting, fishing and firearms retail community and I like how if I know what I'm looking for that I can rely on Turners to carry it and that their employees will always make sure I'm taken care of as a consumer. read more

You know how I mentioned the many inconsistencies of the employees? Well today the birth certificate that I used to purchase 3 firearms here; the same one I used to apply for various things such as a passport, was claimed to be "invalid" by an employee. This is the straw that broke the camel's back; I went to Iron Sights and they accepted my birth certificate, no problem. The first time I walked in the guy that was helping me just did not seem like he liked it there and, at least to me, actively pushing me from buying the firearm I was wanting. I came back the next day to make the purchase and the gentlemen there was WAY better. Went through all my questions and made the purchase more seamless. I recently bought a firearm from Turner's Outdoorsman and had a great experience from start to finish. The staff really stood out, they were knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain each step of the process. They made sure I understood all the paperwork and requirements, which made things a lot less stressful. the team was also friendly and approachable, not pushy at all, and willing to answer all of my questions no matter how small. My husband came here to purchase a handgun for me a week or so ago. We both returned here last Sunday to take the Firearm Safety Quiz. I also needed to fill out the paperwork for the background check. There were a lot of people in the hunting/gun area and they were using their "number system". When we were called we told Braden (I think) we needed to take the FSQ and we were told to head to the cashier to pay the initial $15 apiece. I wish we had known this in advance in order to save time. The process took almost 2 hours from start to finish which was surprising as we were not anticipating that. Braden was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. If the customer service wasn't great would have definitely left to handle our business elsewhere so thanks to Braden. read more

Usually my go to spot for firearm purchases because of their large selection of inventory. If they don't have what you're looking for they can most likely order it for you. Their prices are not the best but also not the worst. Staff for the most part is friendly and they are happy to answer questions. It gets busy often so be prepared for a wait, although there's usually plenty of people behind the counter so it's usually not too long. Andrew and Stephanie have been great to work with. read more

Me and my son went into this place looking to get a Glock, we waited about 10 min for help when an employee came over we started asking a few questions about different Glock models and it was immediately apparent he wanted nothing to do with us, he half assed responses to any of our questions made us feel super unwelcome,needless to say we will be buying our guns else where. read more

Stood around near the gun area for about 30 min before finally being asked if I needed help. This was after taking a ticket (which they ignored and weren't using, yet still had number displayed. Finally got someone to help. He said sorry we were doing other work in the back. I just scoffed out loud. There were literally 2 to 3 people back there, and not one could put what they were doing on hold to help out a customer. Pretty sure you work will be there after I leave, but my patience and money won't. Stop acting afraid to help a customer. You work in an outdoorsman store. Have some pride and integrity, like an outdoorsman. There are some helpful people there. Bought over $100 worth of ammo for a new build (which I also spent a couple of hundred at Turner's on) to break in a new gun. 1st round was good. 2nd round jammed. Cleared the gun, 1st round was good. 2nd round jammed. Again. Switched magazines. Same thing. Switched magazine again. Same thing. Switched gun. Long story short, tried 5 magazines, and 3 guns (2 Daniel Defense, one BCM, so all good quality) and the same thing happened. Range Master spent an hour trying out all our magazines, and guns, including his own. It was the ammunition. He wouldn't even LET us use it. After going back to Tuner's, wanted to trade it in on better stuff, they said it's against their policy. They failed to mention that when I bought it. Didn't see it posted anywhere. If it's posted, they certainly did't point it out. Now I'm out over $100.00 of crap ammo that I'm not even allowed to shoot at the range! I had the receipt as well. I asked to speak with a manager. The guy I was speaking with said he was the manager, but he didn't make the rules. They just lost a customer for life. read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. Tried purchasing a firearm and they made the entire process much more convoluted than it needed to be. They told me incorrect information and wasted my time. Management didn't even feign interest or try to work with me for a resolution. Just told me to come back and try again. I will not be returning. I can't justify giving them my business. Also, I never spent less than an hour in that place. Wait times are atrocious. Better off going anywhere else. read more

After waiting for a very long time for the government to issue me a new green card (18 months), I went to purchase a single six 22 cal. gun at Turners, I was promptly refused because my middle name was spelled out on my green card but was only a initial on my cal drivers license.
