I wanted to love you, Turning Point, but you broke the cardinal rule of restaurants**: Don't scrimp on food quality and get all lazy with your dishes just because you're popular and people are undoubtedly going to eat at you anyway. The lobster benny was disappointing. I was super excited about it because it sounded like the best thing in the world, and thus was willing to pay the obnoxious $15 price. I'm still not sure how you could go wrong with poached eggs, tomatoes, bacon, avocado, freaking LOBSTER, hollandaise sauce and an english muffin, but wrong it went. The lobster was chewy and flavorless, hollandaise flavorless...the most flavorful item ended up being the tomato. Serious anguish. My friends ordered numerous dishes including the marsala benedict, chili, pancakes, etc. We all thought the marsala benedict sounded awesome, but I think my friend was disappointed with it; I tried a bite too and thought it was bland and uninspired. The chai latte wasn't bad, but relied a little too heavily on the cinnamon. The place itself is fine - the view is great, and I didn't experience any issues with the service. Our server was actually pretty attentive and nice. We didn't have to wait long, probably because it's February. It came with bananas, mangoes, grapes, strawberries, melon, and a little bit of powdered sugar. The bowl was large and quite filling. Alright. I am a big time breakfast guy, so it is really really really difficult to give me a mediocre experience. Honestly, if not for the location being in pier village, I wouldn't go, when I have other amazing more cost effective options less than a mile away. The only consistent thing about turning point is that I am always indifferent about both the service and quality of my food. It's not bad by any means. But it's just alright. For some reason my inner 7 year old came out during one visit where I felt the need to ask for pancakes and a chocolate milk on a nice balmy summer afternoon. The air form the ocean was crisp and the sunshine felt great, however I get my chocolate milk and it was so unpleasantly warm I wanted to bring it up. My server was impossible to flag down as she was very preoccupied with her indoor vs her outdoor tables. That one experience has always been in the back of my head every time I hear the name Turning Point. All in all, good not great food and decent service at best. The restaurant is dysfunctional in season because of the poor training and confusion in the operations. The food is not worth a 2 hour wait. Go to playa bowl or drive to Amy's or kitchen witch. Very good breakfast spot in Long Branch. Portions are very large so order accordingly. They have a great coffee selection with French Press options as well as cold brew and nitro cold brew. When I got the cold brew they even gave us a coffee ice cube so you don't dilute the coffee with ice! Bacon lollipops were pretty good but they could have cooked them a few minutes longer to crisp up the bacon. Avocado toast was good and would be better with a little extra lemon. I've been to maybe 4 of their locations, obviously I love this one because it's right on the beach :) They have a great selection of both hot and cold drinks, sweet and savory brunch items and lunch specials. I definitely have my favorites, like the Huevos Rancheros but I try and get something new each visits and have never been disappointed. I had the Tropical Crunch Waffle and tasted some of the eggs benedict (which I would love to order next time). How does a salad take half an hour?? There was a couple next to us who came after us and waited a few minutes less for their food and they got their food for FREE while no compensation was offered to me. The waiter to customer ratio was totally out of proportion and it was near impossible to find my waiter when I tried to check on my food. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the last two times I was there the service was a little slow, it took an hour to get our food but to their credit it was very busy. I love the seasonal menu that they have, it offers different food options than you would typically see on breakfast menus. For example I had the Cali morning flatbread and it was honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten, a ton of flavor!
