Yes, agree, 5 stars for the food, however the wait is outrageously long and in the height of the season there are tables that do not get filled. Three empty tables outside but they say they can't sit people there. They say a 20 minute wait which is understandable, and it becomes 45 minutes every time. Very young people are running the show and it would be good if a more mature person supervised. The busing of tables is a very slow process. For those frustrating reasons, I have to give it a one star. read more

I love Turning Point restaurants but this one in particular is always lacking. The tables are never that clean, we usually have to flag someone down to ask for silverware, and it just never has the same quality as the other TPs I've visited in Princeton and Manalapan. read more

One of my favorite restaurants here on the east coast as well as the nation, I would say. I tend to take family and family friends to this restaurant if they would like to see the shores of Jersey. Long Branch is the spot for shores of Jersey! Spring Lake is secondary. I prefer less crowded beaches overall. That is the thing. An excellent restaurant with flawless service that is highly responsive and attentive. Quality of food is impeccably too notch and delectable. At least, I believe so. Menu selections are pretty wide. Ambiance is casual and relaxing with an immensely wonderful boardwalk and partial sea shore view with easy access to the boardwalk right away. Pretty affordable overall but may be a tad pricey for some others. But, honestly, the taste and selections are worth the value. Must try. Highly recommend. read more

We came here after seeing the reviews, and were really excited for the food. The place looked really nice, and we really want to like this restaurant. I've never been served food cold; all three dishes were stone cold. Hopefully we just had a bad experience. Seating: The wait staff was very kind. The service was very slow. We had reservations for 3 at 2PM and received a text that our table was ready. When we got there, they told us that we would be seated when the table was cleaned. Well, 20 minutes passed and we had to remind them that we were here. Covid: The staff wore their masks below their nose, but the tables were very clean and far apart. They have an option for digital menus to reduce high-contact surfaces. Food: It took 20 minutes for a latte to come out and they forgot milk. The original waiter never came back with it, so we had to ask another waiter after waiting for 10 minutes. We ordered a panini, pancakes, and toast. It took over an hour to come out and everything was cold. There was not a single bite that was slightly warm. The food had fresh ingredients, but was obviously just left sitting after being prepared. The cheese on the panini was hard; the toast was not toasted. By the time the pancakes were served, the chocolate drizzle was completely absorbed. The waitstaff did not bring syrup for the pancakes nor ketchup for the breakfast potatoes. When we told the waitress that the food was cold she seemed unfazed. She replied "yeah". I then asked for warm syrup. It was barely warm. She was very, very friendly though. Seemed like it was her first day. Food was mediocre at best. Not at all worth the price or the wait. Super cute place, delicious food, slow service sometimes. I've been here twice. The first time, we sat outside, ordered breakfast food and everything was lovely! The staff was great, clean bathrooms, wait time quoted was right on time. The second time it was not as great mainly for one reason. We used the yelp option to put our name on the wait on a Friday afternoon which was AMAZING! It was so nice to put our names down while at the beach & by the time we walked over to the restaurant our table was ready! Food (shrimp bowl & chicken sandwich) were good. My only complaint is that it took over 40 minutes to get our food. Some guests who were sat after us even received their food before us. I do commend our server (I think Alexandra?) for her amazing service though. Despite the obstacle of getting our food out, she explained the situation, brought us chips and salsa, and comped our drinks to accommodate for the long wait. She had a great attitude the entire time and apologized for the long wait. I have been to this location pre-COVID and even during this pandemic the service has remained great! The food comes out pretty quickly and they never mind accommodating changes to your order. This is one of my favorite places to go and have brunch with my friends. The food is very good and comes in large portions. My personal favorites are the salted caramel waffles, tropical crunch waffles, and the Wilbur skillet. The food is very good here and the staff is efficient and fast. The waiters and waitresses here are friendly and nice. The hostesses sometimes can be a little rude but overall, friendly staff. My favorite is the Wilbur skillet and it never fails to dissapoint! Update: Customer service from the hostesses are still terrible. The food is still delicious even during COVID and our waiter today was very friendly. This place needs to work on hostess treatment to customers. I don't mind spending money here for a good meal but if the service is bad, it's a no show for me. For example, our hostess today put us at the one table that was directly in the sun, yet there were other tables that could have easily been bussed and cleaned. I asked her if we could move to a table in the shade and she straight up said 'no'. She did not ask us if we minded waiting an extra couple minutes so that someone could clean one of the tables. After asking her the second time for a table that was more in the shade (at this point there were at least 4 other tables empty because other patrons had just left), she whispered into our waiter's ear which I think is very unprofessional and rude. During our whole meal, I was upset that the hostess here was rude. Eventually, a manager came out and put an umbrella near the original table after seeing that it was directly in the sun. Overall, food is still excellent here, but the hostess treatment is rude. Update August 2020: My family decided to come here early in the morning around their opening time of 7:30. It is much nicer to come in the morning because there is no wait time and we were served pretty quickly. Food was still good as it always is. However, the wait time for the food took a little longer than usual. My girlfriend ordered the cornbread French toast with no walnuts because she is highly allergic. When the food came out the plate had walnuts on them. The manager on duty was very kind and respectfully apologized for the inconvenience and took the French toast off the bill. Arrived around noon on a Friday and it was pretty crowded so had to wait. Were told 45 minute wait, which actually was 1 hour for a table for two. Several tables of 4 arrived after we did and were seated before us, which I understand that they want to keep the bigger tables filled with bigger groups, but when we were seated, they sat us at a giant table for six, even with a table for two and a table for 4 open in plain view. So rating is lowered for long wait and bewildering seating arrangements. Food is good, not great, and def not worth an hour wait, or even 45 minutes for that matter. I had a very good ham and cheese omelet, but the home fries were just ok, like the kind you get at IHOP, and the bagel was also ordinary, like the kind you get at a normal grocery store. GF had the chicken and waffles which was very good, and the gravy sauce served with it was excellent. I'm not a C&W guy, gut this version is excellent. Excellent food and friendly staff, unfortunately it was grossly understaffed causing everything to take exceptionally long. Empty tables sat dirty for 15 or more minutes at a time. Our quoted 50 minute wait took just under 2 hours until we got a table. This was clearly an issue of bad management as everything else was great. -I returned today after receiving a message from an employee and receiving a comp entree. As it was a Monday lunch, and not the very busy Sunday brunch, there was no wait or any of the delays I experienced previously. Our server was excellent, very friendly and prompt. The food was also very good. I had a cup of tomato bisque that reminded me of baked ziti, yum! My salad was very fresh and I assume they make their own dressing because it was far better than most restaurants. Overall I will be returning but may avoid Sundays. read more

The best part was where we sat - this little elevated deck-like section in the middle of the restaurant where we could see the ocean while we ate. I don't know how this Turning Point doesn't have 5 star reviews across the board. I took 3 co-workers here after a morning meeting, and we were all impressed by the food, service, restaurant decor and location. I love that the menu accommodates all tastes from the heavy meat eater to the vegan/vegetarian crowd. There are choices for those watching calories, and decadent delights I feel raising my blood sugar level just thinking about. The Super Bowl salad was huge and generously filled with toppings. Our vegetarian diner was thrilled at having options, and enjoyed her El Fresco Quinoa Bowl. The egg and sandwich eaters in the group enjoyed their meals as well, and we all got a laugh when our server gave the option of having a side pancake served green (it was St. Patty's day). Coffee was delicious, and servers left the coffee pitcher at the table so we could refill at our leisure. Each coffee drinker was given her own mini carafe of milk or cream to use. Tea was served in an infuser teapot with a set timer. When the timer sounded, the tea was ready for drinking... Genius! One of the group ordered the Salted Caramel Mocha-Chino. It looked like a caffeine lovers version of an ice cream sundae loaded with whipped cream and toppings. Hello coffee treat! The restaurant is along the Long Branch beach in a little shopping village. FAILURE! We stayed with some friends at their beach house in Long Branch this weekend, and they recommended we all go to Turning Point, so they made a reservation. We left the house, walked 10 minutes there, got seated within 15 minutes, when they took orders for drinks, we went ahead and ordered our food too, we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited... Finally, after a half hour, we still didn't have our drinks, and it was getting late, so we asked for everything to go. We waited some more, two of us went home, two of us stayed to wait some more. And waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, sacks full our breakfast came out. "Where are our drinks?", I ask. "Aren't they at your table?", he asks. "No, we never got them." He fetches some drinks, and we pay. Now get this, we are standing at the cash register, he gives us the bill, $63. I give him a 50, and a 20. He's going through everything, and acting like he has no change. He's working hard for this 7 dollars that he's not going to get. I point out the cash register. Oh yeah!. IF there was a tip jar, I might have kicked in a buck or two(because this is now a takeout order), but I FORGOT, JUST LIKE THEY FORGOT ABOUT US. From the time we left the house til the time we got home with our food, two hours. When I get to a place like this, I first look around to see who's eating. There were two tables outside with food, and ZERO tables inside with food. The employee to hungry person ratio was nearly 1:1. They were everywhere, just running around like heads with their chicken cut off. Now the food? Who gives a sh!t at this point? But I was beyond hungry. I ordered the lobster Benedict. On the walk there, I was craving salmon Benedict, but there had lobster instead, cool. Not cool. The lobster was chewy, rubbery, wet, and tasteless. Probably from a can. Really wish they had salmon. The bacon was good, never had bad bacon though. The hollandaise sauce SUCKED to say the least. I'm being so nice by just saying IT SUCKED! It was so liquidy that it ran off of everything and destroyed the English muffins. Nothin' like wet, NOT-toasted English muffins, but... ...the poached eggs were PERFECT!!!!!!!!! I love poached eggs, and most restaurants over cook them, but these were perfect. Nice and runny in the middle, even a little runny egg white in the middle, YUMMO... While the eggs were perfect, the rest of the components were dry and flavorless. The fruit salad accompaniment consisted of a few shriveled grapes and a small cube of melon. My boyfriend's grilled chicken, pesto, fresh mozz, tomato panini was equally unremarkable served with an anemic portion of stale tortilla chips. The food is very good, but I'd be just as happy picking up a well-made pork roll, egg, and cheese at the counter of a local greasy spoon over this. I had been here for breakfast a few times before and had decent experiences, but after this one I will not be back. Although we were seated rather quickly and ordered immediately, the food took absolutely FOREVER to come out. Tables who had come in after us were receiving their food before us, and I was not in a big party...only 3 people. The waitress never even slowed down long enough for us to finish our sentences...and it was not THAT busy. It was as if we were wasting her time. I ordered the lobster benedict with the sauce on the side. Big mistake. When the waitress brought it out, everything was swimming in "hollandaise sauce," which actually had the consistency and taste of just...butter. It was gross. I sent it back, and they fixed the error, but there was no apology. The lobster on the second dish was cold (everything else was hot) and extremely fishy. I ate about half, being so hungry, but couldn't eat any more after that. The other two dishes at the table were lackluster...bland breakfast burrito and french toast with "fresh" fruit that was less than fresh. After a disappointing breakfast at our hotel we set out to find something better. We had been buying our NY newspaper at the Turning Point News so we decided to try their neighboring cafe. Great choice! On our first trip I had the Popeye Skillet, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, spinach and potatoes. Plus a mini English muffin and a cup of fresh fruit. It was delicious. Hubby had the Tuscan Omelette : mushrooms, peppers, cheese and sausage. He loved it. Today we splurged and got the French Toast.
