I usually would give this brunch spot a solid five. Visited Mom and after her morning appointment it was time to eat and she was hungry but not "very" hungry Dolly, which is her way of saying she is "starvingggg, let's go out!!" LOL. On November 1st, my 2 sister's and I after visiting my mom's mausoleum went to lunch to enjoy the rest of the day together. I am writing this because in looking at other reviews both on Yelp and Google, there seems to be a pattern of "service issues", so I thought, I need to add mine to show that this has been going on for a long time and that my sister's and I were not a one-off. You ask what could be improved: everything! The service was the beginning of the longest moment in our day. It took a few minutes for the waiter to come over, which wasn't that bad, but after that, it all went downhill. Let me preface this with the place was pretty empty, especially in our section. When he came over, my sister wasn't ready and asked for a few minutes. He didn't come back for at least 15! People came were seated and got their food from a different waitress than ours before we even had our food. We had to go to to the counter to ask request our waiter. After ordering we waited and waited and waited. We again asked a different waitress for our waiter. When the food came there were a number of issues. 1st, no bacon on the Jersy sandwich. 2nd no syrup for my sister's waffle. Some very nice gentlemen (not our waiter) dropped the plates. We asked for the manager. Realize that it was 25 minutes (please note: people came in after us and had a full table and their food was brought to their table. We only had a sandwich, a sandwich salad combo, and a waffle. This is basically a high priced dinner! The managers (2 woman) came over and apologized. We told them the time etc. And missing things. They did finally bring out the bacon and it was awful. Old and burnt on one side, I didn't bother eating it. At this point I wasn't even hungry. We were never asked by the original waiter if we needed anything else. And quite frankly he was angry with US! I really do not understand what was happening. The manager gave us a card for 2 free meals, even though there were 3 of us. I have been to the other location on Hooper avenue in Toms River at least 6 times and never had any issues. As a note my sister's had been to this location one time before and had the same waiter without any incident! Personally for me, in this economy with the prices of things today, I will spend my money elsewhere. I will spend my money on a place that respects my patronage. read more

The food has gone significantly downhill. The bacon was inedible. It was like leather and smelled/tasted like the bottom of a camp fire. The "Grande Huevos Rancheros" was so gross. There were two pieces of some type of chunked sausage. Absolutely NOT chorizo. But regardless, TWO small pieces. The potatoes tasted frozen and were way under cooked. There's no way it had 3 eggs on it and it was soupy and disgusting. No idea what the point of it being on a wheat wrap in a bowl is. It says in a wheat tortilla. That's a wrap. I was really looking forward to having breakfast here, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. I've heard great things about their food, so we decided to eat there. The dining area was very nicely arranged and clean. Our server, Saveria, was very good. She asked us what we wanted to drink as she poured us a glass of very cold water. She took our coffee order and walked away to give us time to look over the menu. We then ordered a Huevos Rancheros Omlette and the Breakfast Combo. The coffee was a bit to weak (watered down), for our taste. I had to put extra sugar (5 packets, instead of my usual 3) to give it taste. Although the food looked delicious, it was just okay. The pancakes lacked some taste (needed sugar), and the homefries were a bit tough which could've been cooked longer. The two eggs were the best thing since the bacon was served just warm. I have been a loyal customer for several years and service is normally good to great but Oct 19th 2024 was different- Turning Point Route 37 in Toms River [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was empty only 3 - 4 tables had people seated. Rest of the tables were empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I waited from 12:00 until 12:10 for someone to finally seat me while Karen (her real name) and a man no name was mentioned (both workers) were busy talking and laughing into a non business conversation. A manager told them customers are waiting. They ignored the manager and continued to talk and then went in the back kitchen to avoid helping any customers in the restaurant. I felt the restaurant sent a strong message that I was invisible and customers don't matter at this establishment. Elizabeth had taken my order and I had ordered milk, soup, and a sandwich. Another customer ordered after me by same waitress Elizabeth and she received her beverages right away before I finally received beverage at 12:25pm a glass of milk. 15 minute wait. Received my food at approximately 12:23pm reminded waitress she forgot my beverage. Food was warm and great taste as in the past. I paid my bill at approximately 1:00 pm by phone app and yes I included my normal 20% tip as I had paid multiple times in the past and I never had an issue before. I tried to give waitress benefit of the doubt. The manager runs after me in the parking lot telling me I never paid the bill. I told him I paid by phone app and he did apologize. I also immediately checked my phone app in the car to confirm bill was paid including tip. I initially thought there was an issue with the app. I grew up in a different era where I and most people around me never thought of sealing or the thought of stealing never crossed my/their minds. I felt /feel very embarrassed, humiliated, ashamed and worthless after this false accusation of stealing. I now honestly do not know if I could ever show my face in that restaurant again. Bad service is one thing but false accusations of stealing crossed the line with me. Not sure what happened to the service that day. Management needs to train all staff better and how to check computer if customer actually paid their bill or don't offer the service. They also need to train staff on customer service. Abandoning customers for personal conversation is not acceptable. Leaving customers waiting long periods of time when restaurant is empty is not acceptable. Hiding in the kitchen not to help customers is not acceptable. I hope for the near future that customer service improves and service goes back to the past and good efficient service will soon return. Unfortunately the stigma of falsely accusing me of stealing will prevent me from returning. read more

We've now ordered two times from my office and both times have been less than. Last time we ordered two lunches and got forks for one lunch! This time we ordered over eight breakfasts and got 1ketchup packet that's right 1. Not to mention people who got English muffins got no butter or jam? Just dry English muffins. One of the items said roasted red peppers if you chopped them up any smaller, they would've looked like seasoning cannot possibly taste that they are roasted in any way shape or form. Tried to go here for lunch during work. Walked in to a mostly emptu restaurant with plenty of open seats and tables. Was told there was a 15 minute wait to be seated. So we put our name our name and was told we would get a text when our table was ready and went back out to the car to do paperwork to be productive. 15 minutes came and went, no text received. We looked online to see where we were on their waitlist and were thoroughly disappointed to see we had been removed from the list. We were excited to try the new spot, but after a long wait with many empty tables, we couldn't afford another 15 minute wait. Had the turkey club, which came with a mixed green salad. The turkey was a very cheap cold cut turkey and the sandwich was missing the bacon. My wife had the waffle with sriracha honey chicken. We both ordered the greens but the dish came out with the chips. Our waiter was very nice and went to get two salads for us. My fork.was dirty and again the waiter apologized and got me a clean fork. My friend and I told the waiter we wanted cheddar cheese instead of Swiss. The cheese was not sliced but was shredded which we thought was odd. I had a cup of coffee which tasted like water. I recently had lunch at Turning Point of Toms River West. I cannot praise this restaurant enough. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I work long hours during the week so I like to indulge and eat out on the weekend. Turning Point definitely did not disappoint. The manager Laura is wonderful. She stopped by the table to say hello and see how we were doing. She was professional and friendly and made us feel like a regulars there. I will definitely be back. Before I begin, I came out of my way to come here smh , I have visited many different turning point locations in New Jersey being where it is relatively located and this one lets me no that it is definitely for red states. This place disappointed me by its blatant disregard for having my party wait for 25 minutes while allowing others to be seated and be told it was an honest mistake when there was plenty of seats. No comp necessary, this visits seals the deal in this place being on my banned list like Cracker Barrel or...a highway diner open for the residents of whatever run down town it inhabits.
