I've decided that the only way to kick off a holiday weekend (hm, no let's make that any weekend) is with at a good diner or breakfast spot. If you want to sit at a table with a big menu and have 20+ omelette options staring back at you, this is the place to go. On our way down the shore, our friend diverted us here for a late morning breakfast. It was THE move. If we got any closer to the beach towns, we'd be waiting an hour for a table. But Shore Good sat us right away, the waitress was the nicest lady in the world and topped the waffles with whipped cream and sprinkles, and the coffee was hot and always being refilled. There was everything from omelettes and fruit cups to waffles and sausage on the table but everyone was extremely happy. The space is adorable in a stand alone yellow building with giant eggs drawn on the windows. I left very full and very ready for a weekend at the beach. read more

We share the chicken salad wrap with fries and coke slaw. They staff split the meal at no cost. Fries were cooked crispy and the chicken salad wrap was large and delicious. We found this little place on our way home from Atlantic City. Its easy off the highway and easy back on. Its just a little building in the parking lot of a small plaza. Its very cute inside! Flowers, brightly painted. We were greeted with menus as soon as we walked in, as if they were waiting for us. It was a Sunday morning and we were glad there wasn't a wait. We were seated quickly and offered coffee or drinks. The menu has everything! Different kinds of waffles and pancakes such as Strawberry Pecan waffles or Peanutbutter and jelly pancakes. Also lots of omlets to choose from. We both chose eggs. Shortly, our food was served. Eggs were delicious. Potatoes so good! I love that they are tasty without added onion or anything. They did give me white toast instead of wheat and the sausage is a bit salty. But all the food was delicious and plenty. By the time we left there was a wait at the door. Everyone was very friendly. When we paid, the man at the door said he hoped to see us next week! I wish we could get there next week too. But its still a few hours from home. Wow! and Wow! I can't say enough good things about this local eatery. My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast after spending 3 hours waiting for our car to be serviced and were outstandingly, pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I had an omelette, home fries and toast that would not fit on the plate and she had the eggs Benedict both were cooked to perfection. Here's the best thing, it was prepared in less than 10 minutes and delivered to the table piping hot including the toast. During this short wait time, the waitress kept the coffee full and hot. This restaurant operated like a "well oiled machine" with every employee fully aware of their role in making the business a success and your visit a memorable, pleasant experience. This was probably the result of then owner, since he was front and center in the dining area. The place is not the size of a Perkins or Ihop so speed is the key to turning the tables quickly and this place has it down to an art. This is all done without sacrificing food quality or service standards. They don't rush you by any means but the time you spend is driven by you and not slow service or food prep. While the food entrees were fairly priced, some of the "sides" were a little pricey (bacon $4.59 and so on) but what isn't these days. There could have been more combo type meals including the meat side to make it a little more affordable something like pancakes plus a meat side for one price not $8.99 plus $4.59 (cakes plus meat side). Overall, this was a super well run, delicious break and well worth the stop. read more

Decent food, decent price, horrible atmosphere. Everything is in a single room with a cathedral ceiling. The acoustics mean that you can hear EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE in the restaurant. Every time the spatula scrapes the grill. Every cough at a table across the room. The volume was so loud, I regretted not bringing my headphones with me. If there was background music, I couldn't hear it at all. The restaurant appears to be run by an elderly couple, the husband doesn't move from the register, and the wife is mostly in charge of the coffee. The room was covered by two servers, a middle aged lady and a teenage girl. I was served by the girl, she appeared to have more tables than she could handle. It was a wait for everything, to get coffee, to place my order, etc. Everyone seemed friendly enough, but I can't see ever coming back. Maybe if they installed some booths, some partitions, or even just a false wall separating the kitchen window and server area from the dining area, it would be just a hint better. read more

I love small town family run places like this! Luckily I visited during a slow time of day. It was very well staffed and I was greeted and seated immediately. I was immediately asked if I wanted anything to drink, which happens less than you might think, so I was very happy about that. The menu was perfect. Not too big or too small and had both breakfast and lunch options. I ordered a small stack of pancakes and a bacon and chedder cheese omelette with home fries. The food arrived quickly. The omelette was well cooked and had decent flavor. I thought the eggs were a little chewy and over done but not bad. The home fries were also a little overcooked and lacked flavor but didn't disappoint completely. The coffee was decent and the waitress kept it full for me which was nice. What really made this meal for me was the pancakes. They were superbly cooked. I actually haven't had pancakes this good in a long time. They were slightly crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Not chewy at all which I've found to be a chronic problem with pancakes I've eaten. They were big and filling and flavorful even without syrup, butter, or other toppings. If you love good pancakes I strongly recommend The Shore Good Pancake House! The service was also a highlight. Very friendly and perfect with checking in on the meal and keeping drinks replenished without being too annoying. She even asked if I didn't like the omelette because I was so full from the pancakes I decided to save it for later. What's great about chain restaurants is the consistency of the food.
