Absolutely LOVE Turtle Boat. I'm not sure I'm actually having "poke" as I have the tofu or tempeh, but I appreciate being able to have the experience. The owners are obviously taking into account sustainable practices. I've tried a few different combinations and loved it every time. I met one of the owners who was kind enough to come out and check in on our experience after we had some time to fall in love with our respective bowls. There are a TON of options, it'd be cool if they made 3-4 staple bowls so people who are newer to poke can get a feel for the experience without being overloaded with options (like the California roll for sushi. Hey Denver has a Poke place that's good! Lots of different sides and ingredients. Doing the works turned out well. Highlights:Fresh fish, great toppings and mixins (The furikake umami seasoning and house sauce are both excellent). Big portions for reasonable price. Service was friendly and patient. Such a great place! The people who work there have so much passion behind their food and what they do. It was our first time in and they explained everything, where it came from and what it was. They made suggestions and explained how everything is sustainably sourced. Most of the menu is GF, Dairy Free and Vegan and everything was absolutely delicious! I am always nervous with fish and don't like anything too fishy tasting- this was great! I got the salmon and striped bass from CO on recommendation. Not only is the poke phenomenal, the staff/owners are so welcoming! I went with 2 of my sisters and my brother in law and none of us had ever had poke. We were obviously clueless and the owner, who was behind the counter, explained the whole process seamlessly and quickly and gave us recommendations. We all ended up getting everything they offered, all choosing different proteins. We were in heaven! The food is fresh and flavorful, and the proteins are all very fresh and delicious. Finally! A decent place to get fresh, locally sourced, clean eats on S Broadway. I got a regular poke bowl ($11) w/ greens and a full boat of veggies (yum!), this comes with 2 proteins and 2 side salads (think slaw or seaweed salad). The owners were there to help me out with the menu and answer questions, which was very helpful since there are no descriptions on their menu board on site. The online menu doesn't mention this but they have kombucha available in the drink cooler, which is a huge bonus since I'm a kombucha every damn day girl AND it's from a local company too, boom! The seating area holds 3 small tables and a bench at a window that can sit 3 people, there's also seating outside. We usually love this place and would give it a 4-star review but tonight was disappointing! First, they were out of Kanpachi and Tako, which I understood. Sometimes running out of fish options happens. But then, they were out of sushi rice! Honestly there is no excuse for a poke bowl restaurant to be out of sushi rice at 5 pm, other than just being unprepared. They also were out of the Wasab'amole salad. I already can't wait to go back here!! From the menu walk-through when I arrived, to each interesting and fresh bite, the whole experience was fantastic. Aside from the many fish choices that looked super fresh (and sustainably caught!), almost the entire menu is vegan or vegetarian, and nearly all produce is locally sourced. Additionally the owners were extremely helpful in explaining flavors/asking questions to improve the options for various dietary preferences. The menu really shines on the salad selection. In addition to the standard poke toppings, Turtle Boat makes about 7 salads in-house (6 were vegan!) for you to choose from, and each was so interesting and delicious!! I'm a huge poke lover and I've tried many poke places in Denver and elsewhere. This place has been on my to go list since it's opened last year. Today I finally decided to check it out. To start off on a positive note, they had parking and the inside was cute. However, the customer service was lacking. I waited awhile in confusion for anybody to serve me. Finally someone came. He was friendly but I found it odd that all the food except for the toppings were covered while he was making it. Normally, they are visible and then the server will cover them when no one is in line. The server made a few mistakes. I ordered half white rice and greens. Instead, he brought brown rice but I corrected him. Secondly, I've never seen Korean noodles as an option for salad so I asked if I could have a sample. He said sure. The next thing I know he puts it on my food and starts ringing it up for me to pay. I told him I wanted a sample. I wanted to try it first not order it yet. He said sorry but didn't do anything to rectify the situation. He should've asked if I wanted anything else or taken it out of my food to replace with something else. Once I saw what it was, I knew I didn't want to eat it. However, he didn't give me an option to change it. That was his mistake not mine so he's responsible for fixing it. He apologized once more but that didn't matter honestly. The professional thing to do would've been to give me another salad. So I paid for it. No tip because he made several mistakes. At this point, I can deal with bad service but the food better be worth it. I tried the food and it truly was meh. It was odd. The proteins were small portions. I've had way better. In fact, this would be the worst poke place I've been to. In fact, my stomach was upset afterwards. Overall, I will not be returning to Turtle Boat due to the poor service and quality of food. I was excited to try Turtle Boat after having poke a few other times. The variety of options are good, however you can't see anything behind the large stainless steel lids they work behind. Huge props for labeling everything on the menu vegan or gluten free. The flavors are ok, with the exception of the spicy green papaya salad. Excellent flavor and spice. I was disappointed with the greens which had lots of the stocks left in. I'll try them again in a few months. I will upgrade my rating if the flavors and quality are improved. read more

They also offer your choice of up to three salads to add on the side of the plate. Onolicious!!! One of the owner's who made my plate was friendly, patient, and followed up as I was eating to make sure everything was good.
