This was my second time to Turtle Boat. The first time was when they first opened and I was new to poke and only liking Poke City style poke. This second go around I really enjoyed Turtle Boat so much more. I loved that they had more unique fish and toppings options, some of which were local. The portion also felt huge! My cons were I really didn't love that they used fake crab for their crab salad and though everything was fresh it really lacked depth of flavor. Overall it was good. Staff was super friendly and helpful since it was our first time. Solid portion amount for the regular size but I think I personally like a good ratio of just the base and fish. I ended up getting rainbow trout and striped bass as my protein, picked a variety of vegetable toppings, yuzu vinaigrette as my sauce, added most of the aromatic and crunchy toppings, kani and seaweed salad to top it off. It was good quality fish and toppings but the sauce was really lacking that yuzu kinda punch and also would have also been nice to have a little sauce or seasoning on the rice. Ambiance- there's not much here, they do not have seating inside, so that's a bummer if I don't want to sit outside. Outside is very limiting seating too. If I want to go here I need to be okay with grabbing to go too as sometimes all the tables are full! Which is okay because there's something to be said when this is an all the time occurrence. Turtle Boat was recommended to me as just a poke place, but when I checked out their site and learned about all their vegan options, I had to try it! Their staff was very helpful in explaining all the different vegan options and what they were made of. Every item has a respective V for vegan, GF for gluten free, and/or SF for soy free sticker next to it so you can make easy choices based on your dietary needs or preferences. Got a recommendation from a coworker that this place has really unique fish options, and he was right on the money. Arctic char, tako, rainbow trout and more were available for order. I love the varieties of salads and toppings for your bowls. I ordered the TROUT AND SALMON LARGE BOWL OVER WHITE RICE W SEAWEED AND CRAB SALAD W HOUSE SAUCE. OMG I love this place and wish it was closer to my house, but I will be going out of my way to come back again soon with friends. The ownership and staff is very friendly, helpful, and I love how they source the items they sell locally (food as well as the Kombucha they sell). The fish was fresh and they have out of the ordinary fish from the competition (the striped bass was delicious). I got the Salmon and Stripped Bass on greens with Krab and Wasabi Guac and I got my husband the Salmon and Ahi Tuna with Krab and Seaweed Salad. The topping are great, they are not stingy on what they put in their bowl, and the Siracha mayo was tasty on my greens as well. They have three sizes and we each had a medium which was a good size. I did togo, but there is a small eating area and a small amount of seating outside. Parking is available in back which is great. We went here for a slightly late Saturday lunch after running some errands. We managed to find a parking spot at the back of this tiny establishment. Once we enter Turtle Boat, we are greeted promptly and straight away go to the counter to order our food aka "Chipotle" style. The staffs who handled our transactions, answered all our questions with regards to the menu. My friend opt to have the snack size ($7.99) and Izze can beverage ($1.49), while I opt for the large size bowl ($13.99) with 3 proteins and 3 different types of salads, that you can choose. As for beverage, I opt to purchase a can of Coconut Juice ($2.25) which you can get at the refrigerated section on the left wing of the Ordering Counter. In terms of the portions, its doable.. but for what you get in terms of proteins, its limited for my taste bud, hence this 3 stars painful heartfelt review. There is a water dispenser (self-service) if you want at the back of this establishment located next to the washroom and other disposable cutlery. Turtle Boat is tiny though they are kept clean at all times. There are patio seating available outside Turtle Boat itself. I finished my lunch, coz I was "starving"... But maybe due to the fact, there aren't much of variety, I just go with the flow. The service from the staffs are indeed stellar. That alone received 4 stars in my books. I do enjoy that the seafood is sourced humanly and you know where it's coming from. Opted to build my own bowl, $16 for 3 scoops is pretty high, probably the highest price that I've tried in Denver. HOLY WOW! It's hard to even put into words how amazing this place is. It was my first time, and my boyfriend had been but a while back. We were warmly greeted by the man behind the counter who never stopped impressing the entire time we were there. He gave us a quick run down of the menu, with wonderful suggestions. He said they like to recommend a little bit of each for the toppings which was incredible, and unlike some poke spots that only allow you to choose 2-3 items from a section. There were so many incredible vegan options, as well as gluten free. The wasabi-mole aka guac with wasabi was phenomenal. The meals were light and fresh as well as local and sustainable. The boxes they use are compost and much of the items are sourced locally. We didn't eat the fish, but it's good to know they use sustainable sources and have high integrity on their selection. The service is great and there's a greater variety of protein and toppings than most poke places I've been to, which is nice. My complaints are that the fish were cubed into smaller portions than I'm used to (in the Bay Area) and the salad that I opted for over rice was full of bitter stems/stalks as opposed more leafy greens.
