I've only been here once, but it was a good time. The decor is tacky, yes, but I couldn't care less about that personally. The food was decent. Heavily fried, but hey, it's what we ordered so no complaints. They advertise the best margaritas, so I had to try them. The best? Maybe not, but pretty darn good nevertheless. Was here for a funeral luncheon. The food was very good but there was 1 server for the entire room (guessing 45-60 people). Definitely needed more servers, especially under the circumstances. We live about 25 miles from Morris but had business there today so stopped here for an early dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great. Our sandwiches came with a salad which was declicious and included bread sticks. My husband ordered the chicken parm sandwich and fries and said he enjoyed the meal. On the other hand I ordered the steak agiasio sandwich and was very disappointed. The meat was very tough and over cooked and honestly tasted like it was cooked in the microwave. The cheese was hard and crusty. There was no sauce on the bun. Really aweful and I rarely complain about a restaurant meal. On the upside I ordered the onion rings and they were definitely worth the upcharge. I mentioned the unsatisfactory sandwich to the server and cashier at checkout but neither seemed that concerned. I am hoping this is a case of a new chef who hasn't completed his/her training yet. Most likely won't return to Turtle's Tap. read more

My wife and I have eaten here, conservatively, a hundred times over the last 15 years. While the atmosphere and the paintings on the wall have grown a bit old, the good experiences we have at Turtles have not. The waitresses there are extremely pleasant and efficient. I can't ever remember any of them not being pleasant in all these years. The food is generally very good. I still miss their great NY Strip steak, but there are always plenty of good food items. I've had the chicken Italiano salad many many times, and that is always good too. I'm certainly glad that we have them in town. Also, we really think of Turtles as more of a restaurant than a bar. We rarely see anyone drink very much there. It is more of a place to eat. The decor is aging a bit, but we have been very very happy for many years that we have Turtles. We like it. read more

Not a huge fan of this place. Probably because the late time I ate there I got a horrible stomach bug and was miserable for 2 days. I'm not sure if it was the food or not, but that totally turned me off from this place. All I had that time was the soup and salad which was mediocre at best. The inside is very cute with all the murals and kid friendly. I've never been too impressed with the food though. I've eaten here a couple times. Foods better than McDonalds. What put me over the edge here is the Juicy Lucey burger I ordered. Imagine a fat juicy burger overfilled with a clotted bloody greasy mixture of cheese and what is allegedly poblano peppers. When you bite into it it shoots everywhere..... So ask for a bib. The consistency of the cheese is putrid. Was grosser is the blood that comes out from the undercooked portions. Go somewhere better like The Sandbox or The Greenhorn. We're in town for the holidays and my wife and I had lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. We arrived at 12:30 and soon the place had quite a few customers. As we haven't seen each other for a while, we asked the server to gives us time and she obliged. We were there for three hours and she could not be nicer about it. When we did order the service was quick and everyone had a good meal. I ordered the Pork Tenderloin sandwich and expected a sub-type but with tenderloin meat. Not surprisingly, as restaurants serve very generous servings, I received a large, flattened, flour and fried tenderloin with a hamburger bun. But it was very tender if a bit oily. Still, it was quite good and I ate around the bun and saved the bun and meat in between for lunch tomorrow. We left a 40% tip as we took up so much time for our nice waitress. On a side note, I was surprised that it wasn't hard to talk with so many people eating. read more

We had not been there in years so thought we would try it on wing night which is my comfort go to food. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess and requested a booth. LOTS of booths open and she goes to seat us by a door that we didn't want to sit at. We pointed to the other open booths and asked to be seated there. Wow, gone was the sweet smile and pleasant personality when she honored our request. A very nice server came to our table and gave us our menus. I ordered the wings and my hubby ordered a chicken pasta dish with kind of an Alfredo sauce. Have you ever had wings that were so deep fried that they tasted and smelled like grease? I love fried wings but these left me unimpressed. Perhaps the oil needed to be changed. My husband said his chicken pasta dish was just ok. What was odd is that he first thought that there were 2 different types of pasta but really only one. It was loaded with hunks and slices of onion. Did not fair well with a pasta with chicken, mushrooms, pasta and Alfredo sauce. Not a place we would go back to again. Too many other restaurants in this area that will satisfy your crave for any kind of fried chicken when you want it. read more

This was my first trip to this restaurant. I met a friend there for lunch. Our waitress seated us immediately as we were the first customers of the day. So she was getting us drinks right away and we kept sending her away as we were looking at the menu making decisions but we were talking and got a bit distracted. We soon received our food. It did not take long at all. Both of us had totally different types of sandwiches and they were just too big to even think about picking up. So we either had to cut them or remove most everything off the bread. I elected to cut mine. But our food was excellent. Our waitress slacked some in the end but otherwise we had really good service. Turtle's is one of our go-to destinations. We love the house salad, wine flight, red and white chicken, fried chicken, and the pig wings! Food is flavorful and always served fresh and hot. I am a bit picky when it comes to a few foods, so I asked there be no tomato, onion or crouton in my salad. Waitress smiled and said it was no problem. It was delivered to the table by a different waitress, and it was covered in tomato and onion. I'm not one to fuss or make a big deal, so I apologized and politely told her that this isn't what I had ordered. She raised her voice and and in a snarky tone asked what I wanted. I told her and she then YELLED at me saying there was no onion in it. So I picked up one of the onion pieces and showed her (agitated and angry at this point that I was just yelled at) she then says "oh ok ya, one little onion" and huffs... I apologized again and before I could get anything els out she snatched my plate and returned to the kitchen. She comes back with the salad, tosses it and front of me and says there you go. I apologized again and she rolled her eyes. (I know I apologize too much I always do) then the chicken in it tastes sour and the dressing wasn't good . Multiple problems. Never returning. The $13 "Jumbo" shrimp are all batter. Crispy on top and soggy underneath. When I cut into the shrimp I was expecting a light coating only to be surprised by not even half of it being shrimp and very rubbery in texture. I mentioned this to the waitress and she replies, "That's just the way the come." No offer of a substitute, remaking, or an attempt at getting a manager. In fact, I don't even think a manager was working! Kitchen staff and waitresses were goofing around when we came in. Really? Obviously the owner could care less about the place. Even casually commented to the cashier about the meal, after waiting at an unattended register for a few minutes, and she acted indifferent. I also want to mention that I tried this place one evening 4 months prior and we were never even acknowledged by the waitress or waited on after sitting for 10 minutes so we left. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Unfortunately, this place will remain in business due to lack of restaurants in town. Did I mention that it's overpriced too? $11+ for a bland burger?! The customer service was okay. My server was polite at first, but became kind of snappy after I told her what I wanted to drink. I ordered a chicken wrap and it was brought to my table in less than ten minutes. The food was a bit cold, but the taste was fine. Most expensive food for what little you get. I paid 13 bucs for 4 little shrimp they called jumbo and a potatoe. Jumbo to what. went to red lobster paid 3 bucks more had 8 real jumbo shrimp, 1/2 pound of crab legs baked potatoe. way better quality. I live in New Jersey. I fly every year to see my parents and every year they take me and my girlfriend to Turtle's Tap for dinner. Every time we go to the restaurant we are very happy with the food and service. The food is wonderful and I always leave full. I worked at a restaurant for 10 years and the biggest joy I got was when a customer told us that they were full after eating a meal. I enjoy coming to see yall every time I'm in Morris and I hope to keep coming there for years to come. I wish there was a Turtle's Tap in Edison, New Jersey. read more

I have been to turtle's a few times and have enjoyed it but this last sat. I have decided to never go back. The service was terrible, had to get up 3 times to have our drinks refilled, had a rib eye and was all fat. Another person ordered a pork chop dinner and when it came to the table all that was on this large plate was a very small pork chop. I talked to the manager and she didn't care about my concerns. My family comes to Turtle's occasionally. Having 3 kids can be expensive so we always go there on Sundays. All kids meals are $1.00. Wait staff is always friendly. Their house salad is one of the Best out there. Some of their food is average, but the rib eye steak sandwich is exceptional. Would definitely recommend anyone to give this place a try. Especially parents with kids stop here on Sunday's. read more

Gross....thats all I can say. Took forever to get our breadsticks and salad and then there weren't enough breadsticks and had to keep asking for more, one basket for 8 people. No bread plates or butter knives either, had to use our napkins and steak knives, its a lot of fun trying to get that butter out of those miniature cups with the point of a steak knife thats for sure. I got the fresh fruit instead of the salad, had to wait extra time for the fresh fruit which looked like it was five days old, I refused to even eat it. My husband tried a piece and said "Ewwwww". Ordered the chicken dinner, paid extra for the all white, they didn't tell me it would be all grease though. I touched it with my finger and the grease pooled on the crust. The double baked potato I paid extra for was barely warmed over, I had to send it back, still came back not that hot. I went here for the first time today along with my husband and his family. The service and the food were terrible!! I got a hamburger and it was bland. The portion was very small and nothing came with the hamburger( or any other sandwich on the menu) unless you wanted to pay an extra $3 for a dinky portion of fries and salad. The salad was SMALL and it was loaded with onions, a few croutons and 2 slices of peperoni.My husband got fries and it was like a handful of fries...definitley not a generous portion! Plus the fries tasted bad. Come on, how can you mess up fries, a salad and a hamburger?! The service was super slow...waitress didn't come around very much and it was slow (we were like one of the only tables)! Waited around for a long time for refills and peoples orders weren't right. Also, the grandpa at the table got one little slice of pork chops with no sides...so he paid whatever price for that little amount. What a shame! An another thing was, we waited forever for our food to come out! Most of my husband's family was not happy with the service either. They complained to the manager, but the manager did not seem to care too much. Well, guess what? We are not coming back! That is for sure. read more

First, I own a restaurant. I am like all you people, I like to go out and try other places. I go here at least twice a month, great chicken wings and on Thursday's it is all you can eat. The salad is great, the bread sticks are great and I don't want to see them paint the walls some drab dull beige with pictures of Greece on the walls. I like the TURTLES!! It's their calling card, their identity. Chill back, relax and look the menu over, believe me they have some good stuff. My only real complaint is that a lot of their chairs need to be tightened up a bit because they feel like they are going to fall apart. In contrast to what I have read here, they DO NOT buy cheap food. I know, I'm in the business. If you get something you don't like, simply tell your server in a NICE manner that you have a problem and they will fix it for you. Unless your in this business, you have no clue how hard it is and to see people write vile remarks is simply bad taste. No one is perfect, but overall this is a place where I have went with friends and been very satisfied. read more
