Ok, should be called "Trashbag Tuvalu." Why? Because they sent me home with my purchase, a lamp, in a black, Hefty-looking Trash Bag. That's right. A 30 gallon, Lawn and Leaf size plastic trash bag. No paper wrap, no bubble wrap, nothing. Most ridiculous thing I've seen from a "upscale store." TRUE upscale starts from the beginning to the END of the sales experience. It gets better... Aesthetically pleasing store if you're into the upscale beach vibe "thing" for your home. Initially, service was wonderful, a pleasant lady asked if I needed any help. Found a lamp yay! Nice discount yay! Pay. They plop it into a CLEAR trash bag. I walk out with said bag. I see black dirt all over the cream shade. Walk back in. Uhh... excuse me I think you gave me a dirty bag. Lady started making an excuse...but no go because it's OBVIOUS the bag literally had dirt in it. No matter! They'll just use sticky tape to pick up the dirt from the shade and put it ANOTHER trashbag. PLUS, they took out the bulb that was already in the socket. Cheap much? Lol!!! I was dying laughing because I walked to Main Beach where my husband was waiting, all the while carrying a giant black trash bag like an off- season Santa sourcing stuff from the 'hood. Yes, I'm local, and no I won't go again. Don't assume anything about your customers. read more

This is my go to gift store. I just love the quality of all of their home products. They have a gorgeous designer, jewelry lines as well, which is very pretty, but I love their candles, their earth, and Ware and all of the sweet cards. If you're looking for something specific for Laguna Beach, this is a place you really need to head into from ornaments to framed artwork, stationary, and coasters. My friends and I were getting ready to go home when we dropped by Tuvalu. The home decor selection is great and the pieces are just really beautiful, it was shortly after Christmas so there was quite a bit of Christmas decor which happened to be an additional 50% off. I love myself a deal and tried my hardest to find some cute Christmas baubles, I ended up finding the cutest little Santa in baseball gear. The cashier was super friendly she was wrapped up my bauble in some bubble wrap to ensure it's safety on the trek home. My bestie ended up finding a couple of pieces for himself and our totals were really low, I think my bauble was around $8 maybe less. read more

I've been a customer of Tuvalu"SAN CLEMENTE" for 3 years now... the ingredients that make this store work is Melissa and great merchandise . .. Melissa has always been there for not only me but so many others that walk thru the door. She's so knowledgeable about decor and just provides the absolute best customer service ... at Christmas time, the "make and take" wreaths.. I'm so incompetent when it comes to putting things together... she took the bull, by the horns and did it for me. She didn't have to but she wanted to. Again, it's just not me but I've seen her treat so many others with such knowledge & kindness and she makes everyone feel welcomed. Btw: The new set looks phenomenal!!! the only reason I'm giving it a 1 star is because of it's inventory - their customer service (or desperate need of) deserves zero. my daughter & i went into their Laguna beach location earlier this week - we were the only customers in the store - there were 2 employees, both of whom never greeted us, never acknowledged us, just stayed behind the counter on their computers (even when we walked right in front of them) - what ever happened to: "hi, welcome - anything we can help you with???". i have purchased many items both at this location, at their San Clemente & at the Ladera (before that one closed) - i have purchased furniture, artwork, jewelry, etc... ... ... sad to say my loyalty has ended - seems as though they don't value their customers ... remember, you just never know who is in the market to make purchases. i hope owner/management reads this ... your employees need a refresher class in customer service. read more

Lovely gift shop for beach chic goods and décor. It really is so much more than that as well though. Whenever I need a gift for someone who has everything (mainly women) or if I am looking for something unique and adorable that says "Laguna Beach", I come here. If had all the cash in the world, I would have their visual merchandiser decorate my home with the same things that decorate the store. It's all just so perfectly imperfect and easy, breezy, stylish and beachy. I wish I could live there... I used to live just down the street and simply walking by makes me smile. I have purchased books, necklaces, candles, décor, and more here. Sure it might be cheaper from an online store somewhere else or etc, but that really is not the point. When you shop here you support the heart of a small business. I don't know how often they get new inventory items or how re-ordering stock works but I have realized that if you don't see exactly what you want, you should ask and the lovely people who work here will check to see if they have what suits you. On the other hand, if you see something you love and are on the fence, get it. Life is short, these items are treasures and its really unlikely you will see it there again. If Laguna Beach were to be summed up in a shop, this would be it. Go and spend a little time in there and you'll get to know Laguna Beach a little more than you did before you came. read more

I read reviews before posting mine and it seems a lot of people experience the same with this store, that was once friendly. Nonetheless, read all the reviews, but buyer beware when they remove their website to reset negative reviews. Bottom line is that is unfair and unethical, they were called on it and now they are upset because they were caught. read more

Tuvalu is a high end home furnishings house on Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, Ca. It offers home furniture and décor in an attractive setting. Lots of antiqued woods and interesting glass pieces. Prices are not as bad as could be expected from the captive artistry that is Laguna Beach, and the sales service is mellow and informative. Def a fun place to shop if you are into accent pieces for your home. I saw several things that attracted my attention, but due to the fragility of some items, and the need to pack and transport back to Philadelphia, I finally opted for a nicely aged wood frame for photographs. It now sits on the night table next to my bed with one of my favorite pics within. Perfect as a gift. Wrapped with a smile. If I was a local, several other Tuvalu choices would be in chez moi. We came here while at the beach the other day, mainly since we found easy metered parking right out front. Service was very nice and I absolutely loved all the decor items they have for the house! Very wealthy beach vibe items, very much like Laguna itself. Were the prices not as high I would have gone wild, but I kept it simple with a huge cast iron mermaid doorstop while I love, it makes me smile every time I walk by, worth it already. Yes a doorstop for over $100 is insane, but it makes me happy and remember the day at the beach, so it was very well worth it and will last forever! Super super cute shop. They have a lot of things to decorate your home, and things that would make really greats gifts. Parking is really tight in Laguna, but we were lucky enough to snag a meter. I saw one paid lot near by, but it was pricey. In response to Diane R"s one star review, I was also in the store that day. They did (nicely) ask her to wear a mask and she said, "I can't wear a mask - I'm sick." I moved further away while the sales person continued to help her. She didn't say anything about asthma! Anyhow, Diane I'm also a SC resident and I don't necessarily like wearing a mask, but if the store says to wear one, put one on. If you can't, send someone else to do your shopping or buy it online. It's what we have to do right now and you are not being helpful by bashing and making personal insults about employees just doing their job and trying to protect their own health.
