Honestly for once I don't even have any photos to attach and it's because every time I order their food I EAT FIRST lol. I always love getting their taco combo with the carnitas, rice & beans. For my drink I get the horchata at an extra cost. This is my favorite Mexican food spot in the IE. Like genuinely my comfort food & it's always good whenever I order it. Someone recently told me that Tuxie's makes great burritos, so I dropped in to check it out. I was just in the mood for something simple, so I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was huge, with good beans and plenty of white cheese. The green salsa I ordered was especially tasty, with very herbal notes of oregano. It added a great flavor to the basic ingredients of the burrito. The only odd thing was that, although they call themselves Tuxie's Juices, there was no fresh juice. It was crossed out and marked "not available" on the picture on the wall. I should have asked if that was a permanent change. Tuxie's is a tiny vintage drive in, with picnic bench type tables on the patio. The staff are very friendly, and the service is quick. You can call in a phone order if you are in a hurry. When I was a kid, Tuxie's was the neighborhood burger joint where all the teenagers hung out. Although the food has changed along with the ownership, I'm glad to see that the name still stands for delicious food. I'll be back when I get a taste for something more savory. I used to live down the street from Tuxies and would come here all the time. I love the green salsa. It's been years and I came back to get a carne asada quesadilla and it's still as delicious as I remember. When you get it with everything, they stuff it all inside the quesadilla so I recommend eating this thing quick before it gets soggy. The burritos here are delicious and I love the way they set up their taco combo, with a side of beans and rice. My favorite taco place because of the guac sauce and the flavoring of the meats and the tortilla was crispy and soft! I have been coming here for 16 years and it has stayed consistently delicious this whole time :0) The staff are friendly as well! 4.5 stars!! Tuxies is super yummylicious!! If you're in the Riverside area, don't sleep on Tuxies. Their carne asada tacos are freaking delicious - the meat is marinated in a slightly sweeter sauce than I'm used to, but not OVERLY sweet. The quality of the carne asada is on point - you can tell on every bite that it's got the bounce to the meat but it's not overly chewy or tough. The tortillas are very moist and almost a tad too oily but maybe that's what made them taste so damn fresh and good. I ask for extra red salsa on the side because I love my tacos drenched in a good salsa. The red salsa is spicy-ish (maybe 6 out of 10 spicy); the taste and consistency is really good but I wish it was spicier. This place would be 5 stars if they had a spicier salsa - that would be the cherry on top! If management is reading this - please add a habanero salsa to your options! Will be back for more! Not necessarily the cheapest spot, but the delicious tacos are worth it! I've seen this place in Riverside for years but never stopped by until today. I went with the super nachos with everything but beans on it, and then the strawberry icee. I loved the icee.. tasted more like a smoothie than a slushy. Everything that came on the nachos was good. The only disappointment was that the chips got really soggy really fast. I don't know if it's because they use both nacho cheese sauce and regular shredded cheese, but most of the chips was just a soggy mess. I would give them 3 stars if it wasnt for the friendly service. They offer all kinds of meat such as Carne Asada, Carnitas and my favorite, Al Pastor! If you're feeling a burrito or nachos a bit more, they have that here too. The BRC (beans, rice & cheese) Burrito was good and huge so you definitely get your money's worth. Imagine a BRC Burrito from Taco Bell and multiply it's size by 4. There's some outdoor seating but it's small and this spot is already located in a crowded parking lot so it's best to take your food to go. Milk depots were plentiful, but at some time Tuxie's must have offered a similar service except the product served is Mexican food. It's probably sheer laziness on my part that after 12-years of residency I only stopped by recently, but what a "discovery"! We were hangry, it was taco Tuesday, too hot to cook at home, you do the extrapolation. Two taco combinations were our main picks, the second being heavily discounted in honor of Tuesday tradition. Next, I ordered the bean, rice and cheese burrito, and she ordered a cheese quesadilla. The spread was fairly diverse since I ordered one of each taco (pastor, carne asada and carnitas) from a decent list of options whilst she chose all carne asada. These tacos come with onions (not on mine), cilantro, spicy salsa and guacamole pureé. Flavors: Oh me oh my, this place rocks! I couldn't decide which taco was "best", that subjective measure we all too often employ. Carnitas weren't dry like so many other places, pastor was rich in flavor but not overly greasy and the carne asada was chopped and free of significant gristle. Wow! The salsa verde has a unique consistency and flavor but the salsa roja is the prime pick here. Since my first visit I've been back twice inside of ten-days. Second visit replicated the taco order minus rice and beans (which are both excellent), and the third saw me move back into burrito country for a carne asada loaded (except for the onions of course). Picks: I've raved about the food, let me tell you how delicious the aguas frescas are here! Three visits, three different flavors. The first time pineapple got the pick and it was so fresh and frothy. Then, I discovered the watermelon was perfect for a hot day and spicy salsa, finally (this story continues after the review) I thoroughly enjoyed the cantaloupe aguas.
