Worked in the yard all morning, decided to take a quick lunch break and headed here. It had been a while and I couldn't remember why I stopped. 1pm and not crowded on a Saturday. The menu shows specials for every day. Today is bean tostadas. I had my mind set on a combination burrito with chile verde (no rice) and two ground beef tacos. Easy ordering short wait. Friendly service and I got it to go. The room was unusually quiet and calm. The two ground beef tacos were large and stuffed. Crispy shell, over stuffed with meat cheese lettuce and tomato. Very good. The burrito was also very large and filling but the pork wasn't tender at all. Almost as if the meat was cooked earlier in the week. The refried beans were very flavorful and delicious. The cost of $20 seemed to be a good value. I will be back for the tacos but my switch out the chile verde. read more

I wanted to like it and although the portions were decent for their burritos it just wasn't as tasty as I wanted it to be. My gf ate half of hers and then decided she didn't like it either but on the bright side it wasn't that costly. A BRC with sour cream is about $8. When we came in it was a bit after 7pm and there was only one other person there besides us. We were standing around at the counter so long that we started wondering if we had came too late. The food was ready quickly enough though which was nice If youre looking for a fast burrito it's, at the very least, a few steps up from somewhere like Bakers or Del Taco. read more

They do not serve carne asada here. The meat is braised, cheap cut of beef, reheated and mashed together like ground beef. Hey if they said they were serving braised beef instead of roasted, I might not care. but the liquid velvetta can cheese and the hair my daughter found in her nachos lands tgem a well deserved 1 star. read more

Did I hear you say you were wanting taco Tuesday? This may just be the spot for you! They specialize in crispy tacos beef or chicken. It's a smaller place but there are plenty of tables and chairs if you dine in. The owner is very friendly and makes sure you are all set to go if you are grabbing it for take out. I've been a customer and fan for many years. I ordered the shredded beef tacos which are always bomb, but not this time. The shredded beef was very bland with no seasoning. The shredded cheese used to be very generous,but not anymore. I will rate them a 5 out of 10. I also ordered a Chile Rellano which was very very salty and not very good. I bought an all meat Chile Verde burrito with cheese to go for my dinner when I got home from work. I was really looking forward to eating the tasty super tender pork that Tony's is known for. Not today, I was super disappointed with the tough stringy meat which was very salty. I don't know what happened today but hope they read my honest review. Peace. read more

Mexican food is hit-or-miss b/c people be experimenting with the preparation. It can be from taking away salt or lard or using canned vs fresh ingredients. Steam tables are food's enemy! When you have a good thing, you stick with it. Tony's has a good thing and creates the same great tasting food. One caveat, on my last visit, their hot sauce was off. Found this place on Uber Eats and decided to give it a try. Got a pork tamale and a chile verde burrito. Wasn't very satisfied with the food. After a buddy pointed this restaurant out, driving back from a hike that turned into a rescue mission for an older lady and her little doggie (synopsis is don't go to a wilderness without water) I was curious. After dropping him off, I doubled back for lunch. The first visit included a couple of shredded beef tacos, based on recommendation, then a carne asada wet burrito with the verde sauce. Delicious! The rice and beans in the burrito were fresh, the shredded beef was moist, and had a hint of oregano. I liked the red hit sauce too,just don't have chapped lips when applying that! A couple of days later, I returned to try more tacos. This time, I ordered shredded chicken as well as more beef. Again, I was thrilled about the outcome. Consistent is the word. I think I'm up to four visits. The latest coincided on a cool rainy evening, and the tacos again hit the spot. I changed the burrito to shredded beef and Rex sauce but found it a little dry inside. Perhaps it was being close to closing time or a different cook? Nonetheless, I ate every bite. I suppose I should move around the menu more in the coming weeks, but this is a great place for good food at comparatively lower prices. read more

The nachos were "meh" to me. I ordered them with Carne Asada meat, which didn't taste like Carne Asada. The chips tasted cheap and the ingredients didn't taste of any type of quality. There was a lot of grease at the bottom of the container, so I for sure will not be ordering that entree again. read more

Paid just over $18 for a burrito and a medium size drink. The medium drink was around $3.50 and the average burrito was $15 . On my way out I asked for a refill for my drink and they wanted $1.09, I paid around $3.50 for the drink thinking at least the refill was free, wrong! Is it not enough that I paid between $3-$4 for the drink, you want another $1.09 for a refill? Way to damn expensive for what I bought. This is a damn shame ‍. Won't be back here ! read more

How do you get a burrito wrong? How is it possible to forget the meat in a burrito? I literally asked for meat beans and rice and they got only two of those things right. Worst possible experience from a so called "Mexican" restaurant. Save your self some time and go across the street to the other one. First the food is amazing. This is the best I've tasted. The refried beans and rice, I enjoyed the most because that's what I love. I did order the chicken enchilada plate which is so flavorful and a carne asada burrito. Oh, my sister ordered tacos, and yes, I ate that one too, but not all in one setting. The service is awesome. We ordered In advance then arrived. The young man knows his business and he is so professional and greeted all customers fairly, no matter the nationality. Though the prices have gone up it is still a very good value for the money. Food is consistently good. Had chicken & beef tacos, tostadas, and pork in red sauce yesterday & it was delicious. Unfortunately, no more .50 tostadas but that's ok, you can still partake in Mexican food that is as good as any upscale restaurant without the high prices. Considering we live in San Diego where Taco shops are plentiful and we can have our choices . Tony's is pretty good. With the line being out the door upon arrival and with social distancing, I thought it would take forever to get our food but surprisingly a short 5 min wait :) We were impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect but Tony's special burrito hit the spot. Tasty and filling. The only thing that I am docking a star for is that they don't have salsa verde and no horchata :( I know right?? I was some what bummed- . Maybe because of covid I'm not sure. They DO have root beer floats - kinda random - ok a lot random :) lol- but if we are ever in the area again I'll have to try it and let ya'll know.
