I recently had my 6 month regular check up with FC Family Dentistry and was VERY pleased with their level of customer service, care, and friendliness! Dr. Gul was excellent, providing thorough explanations of their approach to cleaning and care and asked me at least twice if I was experiencing any pain during my cleaning (I felt nothing!). Before and after the cleaning she explained why she was recommending X-rays and the three issues she'd identified, stating that she would confirm the level of urgency via the X-rays. The equipment used was modern and Dr. Gul provided a thorough assessment of my teeth and gums based on the X-rays. In the end, she explained that she would continue to monitor the situations vs. take immediate action and counseled me on how to avoid making things worse. This was so refreshing, as many dentists are often looking for ways to charge you for things you may or may not need. Dr. Gul's beside manner and that of her technician's was kind, warm, caring, and gentle. I am so pleased to have found a dental practice that focuses on the needs of their patients and treats them with such warm care vs. rushing them in and out! Any dental practice that will fit me in on a holiday weekend when I NEED THEM...they have my business! Additionally the practice I was going to advertised they were open...and they weren't! Initially I thought nothing of it and planned to say no to any window dressing offered. The "treatment plan" that I received was filled with costs for random fillings even though I was here for an emergency root canal. I stressed that the root canal was all I was going to commit to, and I had to defend this decision across multiple appointments. The front desk even called the dentist back in to try pressure me into getting more work done. Conveniently, they suddenly deemed a few of the fillings "non-priority" even though they were ready to bill me for them. I still said no and my wishes were only respected after I fought for it. As far as the care I received, my experience with dentist was sarcastic and uncommunicative. I didn't know what was happening or what to expect during the procedure. I had to specifically request my medicated toothpaste that I was prescribed because they didn't hand it to me after my second or third appointment. Incidentally this happened after I denied the extra work in my treatment plan. When I went to another dentist and got a second opinion, he was confused at the need for extra fillings and mentioned that my teeth were in great condition. Overall I did not feel considered, respected, or cared for in this process, and I do not recommend for anyone else to go to this practice.

I have…read moreeven recommended this office to several families, which is why I am extremely disappointed with what happened during my most recent visit. Before the procedure, I was informed that the chlorhexidine would be an additional charge, and I clearly stated that I DID NOT want it. Despite declining it, it was still applied, and I was then required to pay for it. I do not believe it is fair or appropriate to provide and charge a patient for an additional service after the patient has clearly declined it. To make matters worse, when I tried to address the situation, the front desk staff member was rude to me instead of handling my concern professionally. After being a loyal patient for years and recommending this office to many families, this experience completely changed my opinion of this practice. This is not just about the money it is about respecting a patient's decision and treating patients with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not recommend this dental office to anyone.

There was pain and tooth sensitivity and I needed help fast. I was able to start up as a new patient and get an appointment to come in to have it looked at. I did a cleaning the first session and then went back for the required fillings not too long after. Gentle Touch was true to the name in that all the procedures were as painless as can be. I never write anything negative about a business because I don't believe in doing that, but I had…read moresuch a disturbing experience I had to write this review. I had been going to this location for my dental cleanings since before it was taken over by Brian Van Slotten. I stayed with the practice after it changed hands, and kept my regular dental care with him. He seemed caring and I thought put the patient's best interest at the forefront. I was mistaken. I have a family history of breast cancer, and I prefer not to be exposed to radiation, of any level, unnecessarily. I had my usual cleaning and was told that, "I am due for X-rays" since it had been 1 year since my last one. I do not have any dental issues, no cavities, and felt that if it wasn't necessary, can we skip them. The dental hygienist, went to Brian Van Slotten, and told him this. Brian Van Slotten, then came over to the area I was having my teeth cleaned and told me that he would let this time be an exception, but I had to have it done at my next 6 month cleaning, or he wouldn't see me as a patient anymore. I said ok, sitting reclined in the chair, and wanting to finish my cleaning. Fast forward 6 months later, I came in for my usual cleaning. I was told I had to get X-rays. I told the hygienist that the American Dental Association recommends X-rays every 2-3 years, as needed. He verified that I had no health issues that required an X-ray, and told me that he wouldn't clean my teeth if I didn't get an Xray because Brian Van Slotten required it. At that moment, I realized, they are not looking out for my best interest, but to be able to bill my insurance the maximum it can for each visit. There have been other issues with the practice that I let slide, but this one hit home because they were willing to make a policy about X-rays supersede a patient's radiation exposure risk with a family history of cancer.
