Came here on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. The service and food were great. They also have some tvs so I had them turn on the game. The staff is friendly and everything seemed clean and orderly. My friend got the fish sandwich and enjoyed it. I got the Rolex burger with bacon, Swiss, mushrooms, and garlic aioli. Highly recommend! Ignore the state of the parking lot and go inside anyway. Well it isn't the old Tic Toc! No. They aren't trying to be. I had to have a nostalgic moment. They kept a lot of the decor and they have quarter draw cups strategically placed. So I got my moment. We've been for breakfast twice. They do it well. The pancakes are huge! I love the drinks and food here and the atmosphere, but the bartender was horrible. I was here with my boyfriend and she started yelling at him and his friends about how they aren't of age but they literally were if she would just look at their id's. Great food and great ambiance! Our table started with mushrooms and the cheese logs and both were delicious. The breading was light on both and the mushrooms were huge and so fresh. A couple of us had the tenderloin sandwiches for the main course and it is worth the trip just for these. They marinate the pork tenderloin and it arrives at the table very moist despite the breading. I thought that it was the best breaded tenderloin I've had because of that combination of a crispy bite and a juicy finish. I went to Tic Toc on a Friday night for dinner with my boyfriend to check it out, since neither of us had ever been there, but both of us really wanted to try out the restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by staff and seated promptly. We sat at the table inside, but I was delighted to find out that they had patio seating as well. I really liked their indoor décor as well, very modern and neat. Our wait staff was very kind and quick with our service. I ordered a salad and my boyfriend ordered a burger. This place renovated under new management and reopened in March 2021, so you can pretty much ignore reviews older than that as they won't reflect the restaurant as it is now which simply shares the name and location of the old pub. Tenderloin was pretty bland and underseasoned. It might have been helped more with some good, flavorful mustard but all they had was French's yellow (which is fine for some uses, but isn't going to carry a dish). Hashbrowns were really good. We were disappointed with the mozzarella sticks. Like the tenderloin they were underseasoned. These are the really thick, battered type, but the batter, while crispy, didn't taste like much and inside it's just a big hunk of mozzarella that's so thick that only the outer layer reaches the nice ooey-gooey consistency while the core is just kinda squishy without a particularly good mouthfeel. read more

Well, what a pleasant surprise. The TikTok one of my favorite places to go back in the day. Unfortunately it got run down was closed and all the great food was gone. But one can rejoice the TikTok has been resurrected as back up again. So my girlfriend or what is known as my better half or what is known as my wife or... Saw the rest saw the restaurant on our way to an eye doctor appointment. On the way out we went back for lunch. It was awesome. The place was like brand new somebody made quite an investment into this restaurant. Apparently the individual on several restaurants around Cedar Rapids. It's obvious to me they know what they're doing. Peggy had the tomato with chicken salad. I had a nachos with a chicken pot pie soup. Everything was great. Peggy said she would do it again. My self, my son and two friends went to eat at Tic Ton on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Our orders were not correct, we did not get half of what we ordered and when I mentioned this, the person waiting our table, was very snippy saying, "we had other orders too." This is a nice little pub. they often had buy one get one free in the paper, I think they still do that so check out your local Penny Saver, Gazette or whatever newspaper you have. The atmosphere is a dark pub type place with a large bar and a decent amount of seating. I think they specialize in sandwiches but I am sure their other food is just as good. This is a place you can go to relax after work. They have a casual crowd and not all college students you might expect being so close to the college. It came out with one filet on the plate and the cook who delivered it said, 'There is more in the back when you're ready'. Ate my fish one, it was ok. They use a corn meal batter, very light and not overpowering. I would tell you what my second one tasted like, but I never got one. After waiting 10 minutes for the server to stop back, especially since our drinks were long since empty, my husband flagged her down. She came back with a refill, she came back with box for my daughter's sandwich, but didn't come back with fish. By this time, everyone at our table was finished eating. Waited for another 10 plus minutes. Saw the server again. Decided that it was crazy to wait any longer. Went up and told her to remove the meal (since I had only had one filet and the side salad). This place is a classic and must for anyone interested in a landmark restaurant! It's has been around for at least 60 years, although under different ownership, and still maintains its reputation for amazing food, good prices, and good drink specials. I used to eat here constantly when I attended college near by, as most Mt. Mercy and Coe students do. The fact a college student can afford to eat and drink there is a testament to the affordability of this place. The hand-breaded appetizers are amazing -like breaded mushrooms or cheese sticks- I recommend any of them- their homestyle breading makes everything taste made to order (rather than frozen&mass-produced). Also, their soups are almost always out of sight- the gumbo is the best! Generally, this is one of the very best places to eat and drink at in CR. It definitely has a 'hole-in-the-wall' vibe, but I personally think that adds charm- it's unique in that sense and still maintains some of the antique decorations from the previous owners 30 years ago. The staff are always very cordial, and after becoming a regular, they're very good at knowing what I might order or what to suggest that I would enjoy. The owner, Casey, who can often be seen working, is also very friendly and approachable. Very solid food and great atmosphere that has remained the same over the decades - even under new ownership. I just had the ribs on barbecue night (Friday night) and was very impressed! They have a wood smoker outside and slow cook chicken, ribs and pork chops to a tender, smokey perfection. You have to go on Friday or Saturday night to get them hickory smoked though and trust me, you'll want to go there. A number of restaurants tout ribs that "fall off the bone" but are often flavorless because they just bake them the oven with little or seasoning. My group meets here once a month. It is a great place with good food. The waitress is always really great. She makes sure we are well taken care of. The prices are some of the most reasonable in town. Good food that is cheap and cheap alcohol are always a bonus. I would have given it more stars but they close at 10 pm during the week. Took about 10 minutes before ever seeing a server. The menu was not at all what they have online, and our server claimed they had many customers come in asking for the items which appear on their website, yet they have no idea how they got the idea they have them. They had additional fees tacked all over the place, for an appetizer and entree item, what said was ~$10 each, (2 items) ended up totaling almost $40. Then we had to wait 40 minutes to ever get the check. We heavily debated simply leaving cash at the table but were so unsure of what the meal would actually cost that we couldn't. They do not serve ribs, or most of their better looking items. The burger was dry and the bun was soggy. The nachos are $10 and an extra $4 if you'd like to add meat of any kind. The only good thing about it was the flavor of the ketchup, pickles and onions that were toppings...all other flavor was absent, as in NO SEASONING. The sweet potato fries were decent. The only thing I'll rave about was the Ice cold Stella Cidre that I got for $4. It was delicious., though not served in a glass like I asked.
