There is a swing set and trails to walk or ride a bicycle. A shelter house is handicapped accessible with a party room and a porch with picnic tables. The view of the river here is one of the best. The river is wide. There's a dam that has a good flow of water for fishing. As a kid Dad took our boat through the canal locks which looks like you can still do that. Don't forget a walk to the village of Grand Rapids. It's only .2 miles and it's a destination with cute shops and eateries. A campground and boat ramp are just to south of the park.

When I explained that we had an emergency situation the park office gave me the name and number of the park owner and suggested I call him. Dennis Driver was absolutely wonderful. He said he had a site I could park in at a very reasonable rate. While I was in the hospital for several days Dennis and his staff went above and beyond to help my wife who knew very little about the RV or about things that I would normally take care of. I would recommend Hidden Lake Campground to anyone. While I myself spent little time in the park itself the level of concern and care exhibited puts them at par with any of the best RV parks in the country. You can ride a horse, a bike or your legs. You can hear symphonic melodies made by 100s of frogs and see tons of wild life, did I mention there are sand dunes? "The Oak Openings Region is a globally rare ecosystem composed of over 130 square miles in Northwest Ohio. The land consists largely of oak savanna and grassland prairie. It is considered by The Nature Conservancy as having a similar ecological importance as the Florida Everglades and is one of the 200 "Last Great Places on Earth"." It is amazing. Check it out!

A bridge provides access to a little island with a beach, which also has nearby swings and picnic tables. A nice large shelter with more tables and a great playground with slides, swings, climbing structures, and towers is located near clean restroom facilities. We saw a number of boats out enjoying the water and folks doing some fishing. Camping sites are available, as is a dog beach.

We camp here with our Toyhauler a couple times a year, during the camping season. We have friends…read morethat have a Seasonal site here, which is why we come out here. The campground is very well maintained. The campground is situated around a decent sized, rectangular shaped clean lake, with open fields around the campground, and Highway (Route 6), runs next to it, at the North end of the campground. The campground caters to the seasonal campers here, but it does have limited sites open to weekenders. The seasonal campers that I've met have been really nice. It's usually quite here, a great place to take kids to, as they can't really get into trouble, or go to far away. The lake is clean, with a little beach, 2 floating decks for the kids to play on. They also rent paddle boats and life jackets too. They have a small play area for the kids to have fun in. The showers are clean, they have a small general store/office that usually has what you may need. If not, Wal-mart is only about 1.5 miles away, as are other stores and restaurants. I suggest that you call and make reservations though, because they do fill up on weekends with different events going on in the area. And like I said, they don't have many open spots for weekend campers here, First come~First served.

Checked out 2 other camp sites before choosing turtle creek. The reason we chose turtle creek is for a few reasons. The primitive camping is not smack dab right in the middle of campers and rvs like the other 2 were and turtle creek was much cleaner then the others and turtle creek was CHEAPER then the other two. Turtle creek has both flushing and non flushing toilets...both VERY clean and updated paint. They also have a washer and dryer to use along with a few fish cleaning station. The campers were quite after 10 like posted and long term campers were friendly to day campers. It is a pet friendly camp site as well. Very nice camp ground with friendly helpful staff. ONE DOWNFALL**they are CASH ONLY.

After a few years we are back to one of our favorite campgrounds in southern Michigan. It's a dark…read moresky preserve campground with very few amenities. Pit toilets, hand pumps for water. Its so quiet and peaceful. Word of warning. Several of the sites have the electric box a fair distance from the actual campsite. We thought we had enough cord to mbv ake it. Nope, short by about 15 feet. Thank goodness the next day a friend who was visiting hit an rv store for more cord. Being that it is a rustic campground, there is no dump for RVs. A quick drive to the fairgrounds in Adrian or Hayes State Park will handle the for you. The starts at night are worth the inconvenience.
