We've hired Twin Cities Tree Service twice; one half day, and now, after a couple years, a full day. We have a lot of trees of all varieties on our property and everything needed a haircut. The crew was quick, efficient, polite and left our yard looking better than when they arrived. Twin Cities crew trimmed 3 of my trees. One needed removal, so they cut it down and left about a one foot stump which I was told would be removed by their stump removal sub-contractor (I was told that Twin Cities Tree Svc does not remove stumps themselves but rather they have a full time person who arranges for that. After my trees were trimmed I stupidedly paid the crew trusting that they would return for the stump or arrange for their subcontractor to remove it and then let me know. Guess you know the results -- never heard from this company again. I placed at least 4 different messages on their phone and have never received a call back. I will never again use this company or give a recommendation for them. Too bad as their trimming crew doe a fairly good job. I believe their advertising says "satisfaction guaranteed". How does that work when the company won't return calls? read more

They came out the last couple of days on behalf of AT&T. This is the worst company to use for tree services. Their work is horrendous, holes in the trees and bushes. Very choppy and messy work. They're extremely unsafe as well, leaning ladders directly on the power lines. Wow! That was cringeworthy. We called AT&T and tried to call their business. Unfortunately, Customer service is non existent, apparently they don't like to answer phone calls. If we could give negative stars We definitely would. read more

Hired Twin Cities for tree removal and bushes/hedges trimming. Everyone from the office manager, Jill to Brennan the estimator to Tanner the lead on the crew and the crew were WONDERFUL! We were really impressed with the arborist's knowledge and felt really confident in their work, which was done by obviously-experienced climbers and landscapers. The morning that they were scheduled to do the work was raining, very windy (30 mph gusts) and cold. I assumed they would re-schedule, but they came out and got everything done, and done quickly. I had a house that was closing the same day half of a huge pear tree fell on the fence, and the buyers would not close until the tree was gone and fence was fixed. I called four places and this was the only place that handled "emergency removals" and every single place was booked up for 4-6 weeks. Derrick came right over and did an estimate, and then had to do some shuffling around to make it work, and although his crew had already worked a very full day, they actually came out that evening and cut that branch down, and then they left the place clean, clean, clean! I should mention, they were extremely careful with the fence, and did not damage it any more than it had been. As a nice bonus, they cut up that branch into 12-16" rounds and stacked them neatly, and chipped the rest. Very reasonable price for the emergency work these folks performed. Great crew, and Derrick is awesome. Highly recommend them! read more

Think again before you waste your time with this outfit. The area supervisor Scott came out and explained what needed to be done to my property's trees after they were damaged in the Lobo fire. He seemed to be knowledgeable, and was very friendly and nice. We agreed his crew would come out for a half-day service call: We set a day and time. I was at the property with Round Table Pizza's and a tub of iced waters. I waited, no crew. I called and texted Scott, no reply. Seriously, no reply at all. The next day, after reaching out to the office number, I got a call back from a self professed owner of the place, Derrick. He apologized, said they had had crane difficulties that afternoon. He said Scott had talked about me with him?: said he would have Scott call to make new arrangements. No one ever called. Very unprofessional, not to mention downright rude. I am also letting all of my neighbors on the Neighborhood App know Twin Cities Tree Service in Colfax CA is very unreliable, and frankly odd. I hired these guys to do some work by the hour. Big mistake!! I should have done it by the job. The guy that quoted the job was professional. However the owner of the company sent a crew who were green thumbed, lazy and lacked organization. By lunch time they were moving at a snails pace. They were dropping trees all over the place then dragging tree over top of other trees instead of cutting what's close and working closer to the equipment. They ended up taking almost double the quoted time. When I tried pointing out to the crew leader that it might be more efficient to drop trees closer to the wood chipper then move the wood chipper so your not dragging tree branches 100 feet he started swearing that he was the boss and would run his crew the way he wanted. I feel bad leaving this review as I felt the owner and the guy that quoted me were professional but his crew was anything but. My advice to the owner. Be at your job sites or at least stop by so things like this can be avoided. read more

We recently purchased property in Loomis and needed to remove three dozen dead/unhealthy trees and also prune trees close to the house. My neighbor had used Twin Cities Tree Service in the past and highly recommended them. Twin Cities responded right away to my phone message. Brennan came out to give us an estimate. I asked him to please wear a mask when meeting with us. I was very impressed: he was on time, wore a mask and kept 6' of personal space. Not only was Brennan friendly and courteous, he was professional and knowledgeable. As we walked around the 2.5 acres, it was obvious that Brennan knew how to prune the trees for maximum health. The estimate was reasonable and fair. Brennan's crew arrived on time and worked hard for three days. Brennan offered a few ideas about the most cost-effective way to proceed with the project. He made good recommendations regarding clean up, etc. Since we were not able to be on sight during the tree removal, Brennan texted me pictures throughout the day. The crew did an awesome job, and we couldn't be more pleased with their work. If you're looking for a business with integrity and pride in their work, I would HIGHLY recommend Twin Cities Tree Service. I live in West Sacramento.I received a notice from Twin Cities Tree Service on Tuesday saying they would be entering my backyard on Wednesday or Thursday to do tree trimming for AT&T. I immediately called the number and the voicemail message was claiming to be a company called A&E Arborists. I left a voicemail informing them that there were dogs in my backyard and that they would need to access my telephone pole from my backyard neighbor's yard (which other companies have done before for tree trimming purposes), or schedule something with me so I could figure out the dog situation. I also mentioned that I found it odd that I hadn't received notification from AT&T about the planned work. I called multiple times and left multiple messages and didn't receive a response back until Thursday morning. Alex (from A&E Arborists) left a message and stated that it was no problem and that they wouldn't access my backyard, and could access the area from my neighbor's backyard. When I got home that night my backyard was a mess. There were multiple items in my backyard that were moved all the way across the yard. They removed a metal fence I had stragetically placed to keep the dogs out of the chicken area of the yard. They didn't even attempt to put anything back where they found it. They also moved a barbecue that was on my patio away from a fence where I had placed it to keep my small dog from escaping the back yard. I also believe they broke my gate lock open to get into my backyard. When I called the owner of the company he insisted that it was their policy not to enter backyards if dogs were there. Then he claimed that he spoke with the crew (one of which was his son) and they stated that they did in fact come in my backyard, but my dogs never came out of the garage and we're "probably just sleeping." This makes absolutely no sense and there is no way that my German Shepherd would have allowed these people in the backyard without some type of manipulation. Based on the way things were moved around I believe that they actually locked my dogs in the garage. They also knocked over a bike I had in the back yard and didn't attempt to pick it up. I understand that I bought property with an easment. And I'm happy to work with any company that needs to access that area. But by verbally telling me that they wouldn't come in my backyard, and then not following through on that committment, is unacceptable. What's even more unacceptable (and totally unprofessional) is the condition they left my backyard in. They provided the same type of completely unprofessional "service" to two of my neighbors as well. As a previous reviewer stated, we were impressed with Derrick with his timeliness and quote of removing a 40' Pine that was encumbering our neighbor's roof. He went even further than expected and offered us a couple more quotes for other jobs he noticed needed to be done in our newly purchased jungle of a backyard. After 4 other bids we chose to go with Twin Cities. We not only decided to work with Derrick and his team because of their very reasonable prices, but opted to pay more for a larger crew to clean up the entire yard. They got us on the schedule quickly. I was not home when they began, and met them there in the afternoon to hand them a check when I noticed that all they had done was take the tree down for the larger price. I questioned the crew and they said their boss "Derrick" told them to only cut down the tree and a few branches that were close to the house (entry). Furious, I had my husband call the owner who said he wanted to "make it right". The quote for JUST taking out the tree was $2075 and as mentioned we accepted his bid of $2580 for a 5 guy crew for 7.5 hours to take the tree and trim and prune the entire yard. This is a $505 difference. His offer to make it right, was to refund us $180??? Claiming that he had 40 man hours into our project already, which I realize math is hard, but 5 guys for 7.5 hours is only 37.5 hours AND one left early. Then he offered to send 5 guys over for 1 hour "some" evening. I am still waiting for the call to schedule this, but am 1 hour away from cancelling payment on the check with my bank, which I am even more furious with myself for handing them. We were offered a service for a certain price. We held up our end of the deal and paid said price, but did not receive the service. I am not in the market of being duped or doing business with dishonest people. (Also would never have known that our paid 5 man crew was a man short if I had not complained) They would have just charged us and moved on. On a better note, my neighbors came by to inform me that Matt and his crew (not Derrick) did a really nice job cutting down the pine and picked up their mess in neighboring yards. I guess that's something.. UPDATE: We did in fact have to cancel the check, never heard from them to schedule the make up appt. We called them to let them Know we had cancelled Payment and needed to settle new balance. Ended up paying $2200. They had also taken two branches and some brush from work in the yard that we had done before their arrival (work they were expected to do regardless) but$125 more than bid of tree removal has them out of my life. ADVICE: Great hardworking employees.. Just be specific about what you're expecting and be home when they are working to make sure you get what you pay for!!!! read more

I highly recommend this place for clean up and height reduction on trees. We recently moved into a house in loomis and Derrick came out and was very professional and quoted the job much less expensive then another company. He said they also match prices. When they went over the time he did not charge me for the extra time. They had a crew of 4-5 people at once and they worked very fast to reduce the tall trees, and it really made a big difference and opened up the view. We hired a team of three for a full day. They worked fast with a great level of care. They were working on contract in our area, trimming around AT&T powerlines. Even though they had a chipper running and chip truck working in the area they left piles and piles of cut brush, even obscuring a trail I use regularly. There was another clearing about 8 feet wide and 20 feet long into brush where I am running a fence line. There was even a new 8" peeler log pole set in the ground at the end of said opening. They piled cut brush into the opening which I had to clear out to be able to complete my fence. They never informed me that they would be working in the area. When I heard the chainsaws running I went down there, but they had already moved on. When they came back on the road to their trucks which were in a pullout, they packed up so fast and left I did not even have time to go down to yell at them. They created a fire hazard that I was left to deal with. I do not know what the AT&T contract called for, but based on the mess they left here my advice would be to AVOID this company! read more
