This place is huge! Twin Dragons is fantastic for a Chinese buffet. There are 4 aisles of food/dessert, a sushi bar, a made-to-order hibachi grill, and a soft serve ice cream machine. The quality of food is decent with the exception of the pizza. Pizza is just not meant for a Chinese buffet! It is ROCK hard! The quality of service and food preparation is a good step above most buffets. The food is replaced often. You don't feel like you are eating heat lamp food. This place is perfect if you've been fasting, or aren't sure what your in the mood for, but just know that you're hungry. This Buffet has pretty much everything Asian, and everything is fresh and hot and wonderful. They even have the Mongolian Chef that will cut stuff for you right on the spot. Really people, you think a 150 item buffet is going to be "authentic" Asian and everything 100% fresh? Com'on now. For what it is, it's good. It's kid friendly with "American" options like chicken nuggets and pizza. But they've got traditional items too. Everything I ate was hot and quite tasty. We also went an hour after they opened, so that probably didn't hurt. The sushi seemed fresh, not made 2 days ago and shoved in a fridge. They have a hibachi grill. They do have one section that offers a sort of hibachi grill where you choose your ingredients and they cook it fresh. All the other buffet items are mediocre as I would expect. A friend and I went there on an expedition to discover Chinese foods that I would actually eat. After spending many years of not liking Chinese food, I figured that a Grand Buffet would be the best place to sample many different types of Chinese food. There were five twenty foot buffet bars, a sushi station and a soft serve ice cream (ice milk, I think, to be technical) bar. Two of the bars five buffet bars were devoted to Asian cuisines. One was mixed, containing the obligatory Chinese attempt at pizza and other American foods. The fourth was a salad bar. The fifth was a dessert bar. Overall, this place did what I needed it to do. I now know that I like sesame chicken, Thai barbecue, and chicken fried rice. While these things aren't authentic Chinese cuisine, they are staples of the Chinese-American take out scene. Listen folks, I like this place, and I've been back several times. For a Chinese buffet in the Brevard area, it's definitely better than most. I'll start off by talking about the wide variety of option they have. To me, having American food, and salads should bring in people that are not fans of Chinese cuisine, and the Chinese cuisine is still well made, fresh, and steaming as you walk up to the buffet. I'll also add that I'm not a big lo mien fan, but I tried theirs, and it's the best I've had yet! To top it off, the service is friendly and on point. The only thing I had a problem with is the egg rolls were chewy, and seemed like they've been out for awhile. That's why I dropped the 5 star.. At Twin Dragons, quantity is greater than quality. In other words, great selection, but each item is either average or subpar. Ex: Crawfish meat is brown, food will be lukewarm, relies on msg, etc. The sushi is about the same as grocery store sushi (wasabi is terrible). There are American food options, but I'd avoid those. Not good. Actually, it was kind of gross. Some food was cold that should have been warm. Most of the seafood was very over cooked and had a river like consistency. The sushi was old and was certainly left over from the previous day. The sweet tea was actually delicious. The ice cream was also great. The service was fine. Both of us have stomach aches and it's not from over eating. We each had a small plate, a soup, and an ice cream. Our bill do r myself and my 11 year old was $28 plus tip. Super big selection of Asian food, plus pizza, fried chicken and other stuff like raw oysters, fried frog legs and various specials from time to time. If you arrive for dinner (after 6pm?) the sushi bar will be serving sushi, ie: more than just rolls, which they do all day. Good salad and dessert bars - very fresh food, but be forewarned, as in many Asian buffets, lots of sugar is mixed into just about everything. If you want a more "natural" meal - visit the Hibachi grill at this restaurant, where you can get fresh soup made to order, and tell them hold the MSG if you like - same for the grill, fresh meats mixed with raw veggies, cooked to order in front of you. I do like this restaurant. We travel 20 miles to come here. Chinese food used to be "THE, take out", and the "go too" restaurants. I think Mexican has taken that spot now, but I wish there was still a Chinese restaurant that people just clamored to go to. Chinese restaurants in Hendersonville have gone so downhill. What can I say? When you go to a giant Chinese buffet restaurant, you are going to get a lot of food, pretty inexpensively. It will not be made fresh to order, for the most part. Where Twin Dragons differs from some is that you CAN get some foods made stir fried freshly for you, at the grill part of the buffet. You tell the cook what meats and veggies you want, and the type of sauce you would like (there are 3, but you can even say no sauce if you just want something light and very healthy). It is cooked and ready in about 5 minutes, and this is included in the cost of the buffet. The sushi is mid to low quality, if you want really good sushi there is another restaurant in Pisgah Forest for that...you won't get it here. The items on the buffet are filling and for the most part, fairly tasty. They have both regular egg rolls, and crispy spring rolls. A decent variety of other foods, along with a good salad bar and dessert bar. Fair price for a filling buffet meal. I usually go here on Sundays for a main meal at lunch. I have a Chinese friend, and when we travel to small town, a buffet is normally the only Asian food avaiable so we eat at a lot of them. For it's genre, this one was really very good. The service was snappy, the food was fresh and there was a good assortment. One bit of advice about Chinese buffets, don't go at the end of their service. Go early when the grey hairs (I am one) go. I didn't expect anything spectacular from this place. After all, it is a buffet, so you're guaranteed less-than-fresh food with lots of cheap fillers. However, what killed me was the utter lack of flavor in so many of the dishes. I wasn't looking for an authentic Chinese experience (I think I'd have to go a bit outside of most of NC for that), however I did expect some half-way decent Americanized Chinese. Everything was incredibly bland and the supposedly spicy dishes weren't even close. There were one or two dishes that I thought might have been pretty good had they been fresh, but they were the exception. I hate to say that I thought the best thing on the buffet was the completely standard egg drop soup, but it was. Words cannot describe my disappointment. Years ago, I ate here almost daily. I made three attempts in three months. None worth describing-kept thinking it was just a fluke--- While I can understand the price increasing over time, I cannot understand the disappointing quality of the food. It never ever tasted like it does now!!!! Very very sad. It's largely Americanized garbage food and I would suggest whomever is cooking try eating what they prepare. Are those powdered eggs in the egg foo yung now? So disgusting.
