Ordered from Twin Sunlight through GrubHub for pickup. The food was really good, which is the only reason it got 2 stars. An hour after we picked up our order, I got an email from GrubHub, "your order from Twin Sunlight has been adjusted," and they were charging me $4.00 more, for nothing!! We did not modify the order or change the order at all! Luckily GrubHub customer service made this better and refunded the $4.00. However, I'll never be ordering from here again! Why would they charge $4.00 more, an hour after we'd picked up the order?! Doesn't make sense, shady!

Twin Sunlight has mixed reviews. It should. This place has been very inconsistent over the past few years. Last time it was good. The next time who knows what it will be like. I had the Tofu Mala. It's about $8 for the regular portion. This item is pretty spicy. It comes with jalapeño. Much like mala string beans, most of the flavor comes from the hot seasoning. It's pretty bad looking inside. It's not surprising the dining room was empty. Just get takeout.

This was our first trip to Twin Sunlight and they did not disappoint! We split an order of fried dumplings- the sauce is amazing! I got Kung Pao and my daughter got the sesame chicken. Both were excellent. They were piping hot and the sauces were really good. Everything was fresh and tasty. We found our new place! We decided to try it out after someone posted about them on Facebook. Glad we gave them a shot. I've passed it many times over the years but never tried it.

    Beef low mein

I originally ordered the chicken Chow mein, but unfortunately I mixed it up with the Low mein . They were so kind enough to remake my order and even customized it to what I wanted . They're a super nice family own restaurant (I think) and the customer service is amazing! The food was so good! They even through in an egg role for me which also so so so good !! Definitely order from here again!

Underrated, cozy, and conveniently located spot. Have been a few times now and it never lets me down. The owner is passionate about serving good food. I called and wanted wings today and he said he had drumsticks instead and they wouldn't let me down - and he was right. Massive, meaty, crispy fried to perfection. The 'chicken vegetable' entree is a revelation too - a perfectly balanced meal in a box of rice, chicken, and vegetables in a light, tasty sauce. Would also recommend the Kung pao chicken but the menu offers something for everyone. You also easily feed 4 for less than $40, what more can you ask for? 5/5

I usually plan where I am going to have a meal that I review and usually my daughter is with me, (please dont tell her this can be our secret). Anyhow, I was wanting lunch and was on Phillipi Rd and knew there was an Asian restaurant close by. So I decided to try The Twin Sunlight. The Sunlight is small family run affair, just my kind of place. Its a mix of Asian food styles. I chose the Pork with bean sprouts, lunch size. After seeing the nest table served their Pho ( vietnamese soup ) I wished I had ordered that. O well such is life, well, my life anyway. The pork w/ bean sprouts was served fast with a side of fried rice. It was cooked perfect, the protein well cooked and the bean sprouts warm and still crunchy. They added nice slivers of onion greens to the bean sprouts and a rich soy based sauce. The fried rice was also well cooked and just sticky enough, but had a bland flavor. A little more egg and some onion would have helped the fried rice. The portion was slightly small but over all the meal was very good. I noticed the reviews of the Sunlight were either good or bad. Its strange how people can have such polar opinions of this restaurant. As for me, I'll be back, I have to try their Pho and I'll have to take Quart Quart with me on my next visit. I'll act surprised, like I've never been there. LOL

Sign out front and neon sign advertising their Pho.

The Chinese dishes are average but the owner's wife makes a Thai Curry chicken that is out of this world.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

Plus, I figured hibachi can take awhile, and I usually don't have a long time for lunch. Today I had a little more time, and I made a point to head over. It is a bit out of the commercial sprawl at the corner. Look for the food truck, that's the first thing I saw, and it helped me find where to turn in. I wasn't sure if there would be dine in, but there is, plenty of seating inside and out. Inside there are seats at the counter, plus booths, plus I think a couple tables. Menu is pretty basic: hibachi and a few sides. I got steak and chicken, with fried rice, and you pick two vegetables so I picked cabbage and bean sprouts. You get a Yum Yum sauce, and you can add others, but I didn't need them. And the sauce container they gave me was plenty big. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked in a nice sauce. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. And it all came out in about five minutes. They had a steady stream of carry out customers, but they still got mine on the grill, apparently as soon as I ordered it. Fast and good, and competitively priced for hibachi. A big portion, but not a huge, two days' worth of leftovers portion. But I was stuffed and couldn't finish it all. When I saw the drink cooler with just water and a few juices, I figured I'd have to go with those, but they do have fountain drinks. And they actually have a pretty good variety, cola, diet cola, cream soda, blueberry, cherry I think, and a few others. Anyway, several pleasant surprises, the food lived up to its reputation, I was in and out fast, and for not a whole lot of money in this day and age. I will be back.
