The food tasted good and it felt authentic, the menu is in mandarin and you can pay with Chinese money. I recommend the V6 in the menu for the lovers of a good meal with vegetables. The environment is calm and the workers are fast bringing you water.

So fun and delicious. The best sesame chicken I've ever had. We always have to get their twice fried fish. Spicy and pairs so well with their fried rice

I'd give this a full 5 star rating, but honestly the ambiance of the restaurant and quality of service are not what you'd expect of a 5 star rated restaurant. However, the food and fair value of the food definitely is. They specialize in a regional area of China and the food flavors are apparently very authentic to that area. It's apparent in their use of black vinegar, cilantro, cumin, and Szechuan peppercorns. And more subtley in pickled vegetables... like in their stirfry string beans. The portion sizes are very fair, if not a tad on the generous side. It depended on the specific dish. The ambiance is nothing to write home about - it's a very typical High street , mom & pop, old location. There's a small free parking lot in the back, and probably street parking along the streets. They have pretty vast menu, with some of their most popular dishes displayed in pictures outside and inside the restaurant. Everything we ordered was good, but some surprises included the pickled diced veggies under our fried tofu, pickled preserved radish seasoned with our stirfry green beans, and twice cooked fish (great, but probably not my favorite which still resides with Chilispot and Fiery Sky). The ginger pork chop was the only thing I was a tad disappointed with. The pork cutlets were too thin so all I tasted was the batter. It was definitely crispy & sweet though so if you like that, it's a popular dish there. I have been back a few times with different friends and family. Everyone agrees it's a tried and true spot if you're craving authentic Asian cuisine.

I'd been driving by this place for years wanting to try it - and finally did. Nestled in a nook adjacent to campus, we had high hopes for an authentic meal. The experience really began before even entering the restaurant with the most mouth-watering aroma wafting down the street. When we entered, we were kindly greeted and invited to sit in a cozy corner. I ordered the cumin lamb, and my partner got the spicy chicken. The lamb was a perfectly crafted patchwork quilt of texture and flavor - the veggies were crisp and fresh; the lamb succulent and tender. The spicy chicken had the most delicate breading, and a crunchy yet soft bite. The latter was a bit dry, so we requested some duck sauce, which brought a rich sweetness to balance the spice. The server was kind and offered her recommendations on request, however we suffered severe mouth burn with only a cup of water each to last between us:,( Overall, 4.5, will be coming back (with our water bottles). Fresh, flavorful, unique, and worth a try (or two).

Been looking for a decent Szechuan place. Gave NE Chinese a try. Ordered the spicy pork with cilantro, pork in garlic sauce, pork lo mein and the hot & sour soup. Though other reviewers raved about the spicy pork with cilantro, we found it ok. Not very spicy and pork was a bit dry. On the good side, lots of pork pieces and cilantro...spicier would have been better. Pork lo mein was ok but it would have been better with a bit more veggie crunch and maybe more bean sprouts. My favorite was the pork in garlic sauce. Very close in taste to some of the best pork in garlic sauce dishes I've had in CA. Good to see cloud ear in the dish. Green pepper was ok but I really would have liked strip bamboo and some slivered celery for more crunch in the dish. That would have made this a great dish. A bit bland bc a little more spice was needed. But I liked it on top of my rice. Sweet and sour soup was ok...a little watery not thick. Didn't see much bamboo in it. I would go back and try other dishes.

Highly enjoyable Chinese food. Authentic and tasty. Reasonably priced. Parking out front on street. I would definitely recommend the fern noodles. Very interesting flavors. Good service.

Hands down, this Chinese spot in Columbus is my go-to! It's my favorite so far, but let's be real, the dine-in experience is where it's at - takeout just doesn't compare; it was almost not palatable, to be honest (that I did not understand. To their credit they did offer 50% off our next visit) . Inside is definitely no frills, no fuss, but the food is amazing and that's all that matters to us. The real MVP is their addictive fried chili oil - it's utterly DELICIOUS! One suggestion to the owners: bottle and sell that magic in jars! I'd be first in line to buy it!

Best Chinese restaurant in Columbus that I had during my time there. My girlfriend was OBSESSED with the spicy twice cooked fish and still talks about it to this day. The spicy cilantro chicken was exactly as advertised - both from a flavor and spice profile. Chicken singapore noodles were solid as well. Only issue is we waited FOREVER to get out takeout order, which ended up being about 30-45 minutes late and the restaurant wasn't all that busy. Would I do it again though? Sure :)

I'm not sure if I can give a fair assessment because I just love eggplants. I was craving Chinese food and I'm not 100% sure this place delivered on authenticity but I literally do not care. Hit the spot. I've had better lo mein but the other dishes were well-executed and lasted me for several days! Woohoo for those in a cooking slump. Cannot speak on atmosphere and service bc we ordered delivery. I'm sure they're doing great.

Ok I had this delivered to my hotel room last night. My driver got lost and was 40 mins late. With that being said my food was still amazing! Holy happiness! The cilantro pork is freaking bombtastic! Also had the twice cooked fish! Had both made extra spicy and they delivered on that! Would love to dine here. So GOOD!

Open on Thanksgiving! We had a delightful lunch and enjoyed the unique flavors. Quick service and the food came out quickly and hot! This is clearly known for their food, not the high brow romantic location, but truly excellent flavors and quality. Enjoy!

Here is another authentic Chinese restaurant featuring northeastern style food. Hot & Sour fern root noodles: SO GOOD! We literally saved the sauce to eat with rice and other dishes too House speciality - stewed pork ribs and green beans w/pancake: The pork was very tender, and the pancake texture was perfect. Let it soak in some pork broth~ yummm Spicy twice cooked fish: fish was crispy. It was slightly dry for me, but I dipped it into the noodle sauce, and it was great~ Sour veg w/ sweet potato noodle: I am a fan of sour veggies, and it was very tasty! Pork with cucumber: a refreshing dish to help clear your palate If you like Chinese food and haven't been here before, it is time to add to your list!

Cilantro Pork - I don't love pork but this dish is so amazing! A must try!

Sort of? There's a small parking lot in back of the building -- a VERY small lot with a big dumpster. You're better off parking on High St or around the corner on E Duncan.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

It is a bit out of the commercial sprawl at the corner. Look for the food truck, that's the first thing I saw, and it helped me find where to turn in. I wasn't sure if there would be dine in, but there is, plenty of seating inside and out. Inside there are seats at the counter, plus booths, plus I think a couple tables. Menu is pretty basic: hibachi and a few sides. I got steak and chicken, with fried rice, and you pick two vegetables so I picked cabbage and bean sprouts. You get a Yum Yum sauce, and you can add others, but I didn't need them. And the sauce container they gave me was plenty big. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked in a nice sauce. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. And it all came out in about five minutes. They had a steady stream of carry out customers, but they still got mine on the grill, apparently as soon as I ordered it. Fast and good, and competitively priced for hibachi. A big portion, but not a huge, two days' worth of leftovers portion. But I was stuffed and couldn't finish it all. When I saw the drink cooler with just water and a few juices, I figured I'd have to go with those, but they do have fountain drinks. And they actually have a pretty good variety, cola, diet cola, cream soda, blueberry, cherry I think, and a few others. Anyway, several pleasant surprises, the food lived up to its reputation, I was in and out fast, and for not a whole lot of money in this day and age. I will be back.
