What I loved was the friendly vendors, the food, the volunteer and greeters. I wasn't fond of the loudness of the crowds, the rowdiness and music. The free water and very clean portapotties was a plus. What I didn't like was the event was very unorganized. Once you got your wrist band for general admission, there was no direction on where to go or what to do. No one to guide you and no signage. We figured out that we needed to wait before 1pm hit and only VIP had access to get in sooner but folks were aimlessly wandering. Some general admissions coming in early and the rest waiting. The security guard standing there at the entrance could have done his job by notifying all nonVIP no access. I'm a smoker and asked the young security guard at the food area where to go to smoke, he asked his head boss and his head boss asked his boss. I was told to smoke outside of the event only and that ins and outs were indeed allowed. As I exited the event to have my cigarette, I asked again one of the ladies who were issuing wrist bands at the entrance area if I was good to go out for a smoke and come back in and was told yes again. So after I tried to come back in, I was stopped by a Spade Security man. He was extremely rude and asked what I was doing and if I showed ID already. I said yes and I explained I went to have a cigarette and coming back in. I showed my wrist band. He said I can not come back in. When I tried to explain to him what I was told, he cut me off and said, "I don't care!" Finally he said he would let me back in this once but "dont do it again". I get that he's security but throwing around your power like that will get you major karma. It sounds to me like rules were not made clear to all staff and there was so much disorganization. I will never come back to this event.

We started by grabbing my wife an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Latte at Fig Tree Coffee. The owners were super friendly. After exploring the food vendors, we settled on Cousins Maine Lobster. Our little one loved the tots and dancing in Daddy's arms to that Bruno Mars cover band Uptown Funk. Next we visited the car show, where we were greeted by a bunch of amazingly well-kept classics. My favorite is still the Wild Bill Tattoo van that spewed flames from the exhaust. Lastly, we went back down the street and got to know some of the vendors. The gals at Delivery Day Bag gave our son 3 pairs of baby socks for free. Coming out to Downtown Roseville was a breath of fresh air from what we normally do. I especially love to support local businesses and events like this are a great opportunity to do just that. We'll be back for more!

I think we've been coming here for about seven years, mainly because hubby comes for the car show. My original review was under the name Johnny Five Productions. They've been the master mind who's put this event together for many years. It's an event held every Tuesday from late May til the end of August. Vernon Street is blocked off for cars, food trucks and vendors, wide array of your typical street vendors, kiddie section and live bands that put on a free performance. If you don't like eating from food vendors, you can always get a decent meal at one of many restaurants that are on Vernon Street. From the Monk's Cellar, The Place, Nela's Mexican, and Vernon Street Grill. It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. We usually come to hang out with the car club but enjoy all that this event has to offer.

Quarry Park in Rocklin is a great space. It's huge and open, with a fair amount of trees for shade and even an outdoor amphitheater/stage. That would be nice for the live music... except there wasn't any :( The crowd was a lot smaller and spread out, and there was twice as much seating as Oak Park's venue (not including the grass area). It was also a lot more kid friendly than the one at Oak Park, and even featured a crafting area. There were virtually no lines for the half a dozen food vendors, but sadly no vegan options except for Conscious Creamery's sweet treats. A couple of the artisans from Gather: Oak Park were there, and a couple new ones too. I love supporting local, but I didn't really see anything that sparked my interest. All in all it's a good concept with a lot of room for improvement. In comparison to Oak Park's Gather, my preference is to make the drive out for that one instead- but I wouldn't rule out coming back here again in the fall.

By the time I hear about the Christmas lights here at Bayside every year, it's too late to get…read moretickets! This year I was on top of it and got a few tickets ahead of time and gave some to friends. They're free to reserve but will get booked within minutes! Each week of tickets is released at a specific time every week so there are multiple chances. We arrived right at our 6pm reservation time. The website explains to enter via bike lane right past the gas station. Google maps led us to the exact spot and you can see the long line of cars in the bike lane and the Christmas lights in the distance so it was easy to spot. The line appears long but it was moving pretty steadily and we got to the beginning of the lights in less than 10 min. Once you get past the entrance they will direct you into an aisle of the parking lot and then those lines take turns entering the drive thru, so after all that I think it was about 15-20 mins until we actually started which wasn't too bad. There are people coming around with concessions and lights/toys before you begin too. The actual lights themselves were really nice! Each section had a theme, such as candy land, Star Wars, etc. and you can tune in to a radio station so the sounds match what you're looking at. I'd say it took no more than 15 minutes to get through the whole thing but it was definitely worth it instead of driving around to one-off houses around town.
