We parked next door in a church parking lot accepting donations fir parking so that made it easy to lug our 10lb bags of mandarins lol. My favorite display was a guy carving wood sculptures with a chain saw. Also had a Reeses's peanut butter mocha and cobbler which were yummy. Unfortunately the mandarins were more tart than sweet so ideally this should have been delayed to prolong the growing season. Overall this was still a nice little event and i would come back next year.

Instead, find a local fruit stand and buy oranges locally. For a mandarin milkshake, I'd go to a local diner in the area.

The "pumpkins" they had were fake styrofoam cut outs, they looked nice but they were fake so that was a big disappointment for my self. The food vendors they had were kinda whack. The funnel cake vendor was really backed up they started giving back people their money. It sucked because even tho their fryer was broke they still kept selling cakes and telling people 10 minutes. They could of kept it real and closed down earlier. The teriyaki vendor was pretty good but most of their food was sold out. Nighttime, as the sun goes down, the campgrounds are alive with impromptu jamming: Singing, instruments, and good times. I love you American River Music Festival! Thankfully, for 2014, there was plenty of free drinking water available. &, for that, I am grateful. The rest of the brewfest was pretty much the same as last year, which is to say, really good overall. I think there were a few less breweries & a few less beers this year. But, most notably, Knee Deep was there & they were pouring Simtra. That was almost worth the price of admission alone. For 2014, the Auburn Brewfest kept most of what was good for 2013 & completely eliminated the 1 big problem they had last year. 2014 was the second year I attended the Auburn Brewfest…read more Unlike last year, the weather, considering the area, was mild and the problem with guests not being allowed to bring outside water was fixed by having big water-filled coolers in several places. Also, the crowds this year were a bit larger and we found from the organizers that this was the first year they actually sold out. Despite the increase in attendance the lines for beer were not bad at all and I don't think we waited for longer than a minute or two for anything once in line. The vendors this year seemed fewer that last year though, and the biggest disappointment was two of the biggest NorCal breweries bringing bottles instead of kegs. The food vendors were exactly the same as last year, there was one BBQ place and Round Table pizza so this is clearly the area where the organizers can do better next year. There was live music that most of the folk did not care about and they also had rolled cigar vendor which made Auburn brewfest somewhat unique as most of the other brewfests I've been to do not allow smoking anywhere, except for designated areas. Here everyone was puffing away...on tobacco mind you. So as for the best of the brewfest I have to give props to two local breweries: Knee Deep and Auburn Alehouse. While Knee Deep only brought two beers, one of these was Simtra which is widely considered one of the best triple IPAs in the world. And they brought few kegs, not one. Auburn Alehouse, on the other hand, had the best selection and the most taps running. As the main sponsor, this was expected from them but they brought it home once again. For the worst I have to give it to Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada. Two of the largest craft breweries in California can do much better than bring bottles. Come'on, you guys. Auburn Brewfest 2014 was fun and great value for the price. For next year I would like to see more vendors and some better food options. If that happens this little brewfest has the potential to become something much more bigger....

They also had lots of vendors selling gift related items, to get you started on your holiday shopping, and offered complimentary samples as well! I tried some deliciously flavorful Mandarin Olive Oil, Balsamic and sweet Orange Blossom Honey from the Colwell Thundering Herd Ranch booth and purchased some cards made by a local artist from the Cloudy Art Studio booth! As well as entered into their raffle to win some beautiful hand towels and cards! For lunch I ordered some deliciously flavorful and perfectly sauced Eggplant Lasagna from Rubinos Ristorante Booth and will definitely be checking out their restaurant in Rocklin now! I would highly recommend attending the festival and don't forget to pick up your free Eggplant before you leave, I cannot wait to try mine and see what next year has in store!

My friend has been here before, but it had been a while so we both had fun exploring this small city's old town area. We did a bit of shopping as well which added much to our enjoyment. Auburn, CA is also nicknamed "Endurance Capital of the World" due to its popularity with trail running sports enthusiasts. Auburn is also on Placer County Wine Trail. While this area is not as well known as Napa Valley, it offers more relax and less crowded experience. Wineries around here are usually smaller, family-run and independent (not corporate.) Different types of varietals include Italian (Barbera, Sangiovese, Zinfandel); Spanish (Tempranillo); Rhône blends (petite sirah, Syrah, etc); Bordeaux's (Cabernet franc, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc).

Many houses have cute decor and lights, so many inflatables are ones I don't see elsewhere, at least a couple of houses are connected to radio station music, and the best is all the different lit arches over the sidewalk. Walking under them feels magical and makes for some great photos. You leave filled with cheer after seeing this merry & bright setting.

By the time I hear about the Christmas lights here at Bayside every year, it's too late to get…read moretickets! This year I was on top of it and got a few tickets ahead of time and gave some to friends. They're free to reserve but will get booked within minutes! Each week of tickets is released at a specific time every week so there are multiple chances. We arrived right at our 6pm reservation time. The website explains to enter via bike lane right past the gas station. Google maps led us to the exact spot and you can see the long line of cars in the bike lane and the Christmas lights in the distance so it was easy to spot. The line appears long but it was moving pretty steadily and we got to the beginning of the lights in less than 10 min. Once you get past the entrance they will direct you into an aisle of the parking lot and then those lines take turns entering the drive thru, so after all that I think it was about 15-20 mins until we actually started which wasn't too bad. There are people coming around with concessions and lights/toys before you begin too. The actual lights themselves were really nice! Each section had a theme, such as candy land, Star Wars, etc. and you can tune in to a radio station so the sounds match what you're looking at. I'd say it took no more than 15 minutes to get through the whole thing but it was definitely worth it instead of driving around to one-off houses around town.
