I planned my trip to North Cascades National Park a bit later than usual and was nervous that lodging options would be limited. Luckily, with a bit of sleuthing, I discovered the lodge typically has a two night minimum but that there happened to be a single night available on the exact day I was planning to visit. One quick phone call later, I had a room at the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin booked! Our ferry ride over was less than ideal (despite the stunning views) so the moment we arrived in Stehekin my entire mood shifted. The scenery somehow became even more breathtaking and the peaceful remoteness of the area was *exactly* what I had been craving. I had been looking at pictures of Stehekin in the days leading up to my trip, eagerly awaiting my own experience. Check in at the lodge was quick and easy due to its perfect location just steps from the ferry landing. Our room had a classic lodge feel (simple but cozy) with two beds (yahoo), a larger-than-expected bathroom, a small kitchenette (mini fridge and coffee maker), and a patio with two chairs. The bed was super comfortable, I took a great nap and had an excellent night of sleep as well. The patio was a wonderful spot to relax in the evening even though all rooms share that setup and it's a popular hangout in the evenings. The only minor drawback was the occasional passing car which slightly interrupted the otherwise serene lake views and peace and quiet. For dinner, we ate at the lodge's restaurant (The Landing) where I ordered a delicious sandwich with fries. It's counter service setup though staff brings your food to the table. The service was friendly and efficient. While the prices were on the higher side, it's understandable given the remoteness of the location and well worth it, in my opinion. On the topic of price, there is no free WiFi at the lodge, you have to pay $5 for a designated amount of WiFi (either data or 24 hours, whichever comes first). The red bus and blue bus are added costs as well and there are no bikes available for rent at the lodge. Even so, one of my favorite parts of staying at the lodge was the community feel, ESPECIALLY with so many PCT hikers passing through!!!! Some were staying overnight, others were recharging their phones, grabbing food, or just relaxing while waiting out the heat. I absolutely loved chatting with the thruhikers - they were so kind, so, so inspiring, and full of stories even though they just recently set out on their treks southbound to Mexico. I genuinely wish them the best on their incredible, life-changing journey #jealous. All in all, North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin is the perfect base for experiencing this magical corner of Washington. I can't wait to return and next time, I'll hope to stay even longer.

For example, we were sitting at the landing, waiting for the boat to take us back to Chelan, and we saw a deer wander by followed by bald eagle landing in a tree a few hundred feet away. That happened in the span of 10 minutes. Needless to say, if you've never been up this direction, it's well worth your trip! the lodge is literally one of the only businesses up here, and if you're not staying here, the main reason you would visit is to grab something from the small store, or to grab food from the restaurant. We tend to come here for lunch on the day that we are leaving, and it never disappoints. The burgers are good, the sandwiches are solid, and on our last trip, we found that the desserts are nice. Nothing fancy, but certainly a step up from Camping food for anyone that's coming off the PCT! They have plenty of beer and wine options. We found it was surprisingly nice to have a glass of a red blend on the deck overlooking lake Chelan! Again, a spot well worth checking out and one that has some solid option for your remote eating and drinking pleasure!

We stayed here from July 3-10 for my 30th birthday trip, and I genuinely can't imagine a better home base. In fact, I would go as far as saying Mazama Ranch House isn't just a place to sleep, it's a destination and retreat all on its own. When I was researching places to stay for a week of hiking in the North Cascades, I had a few priorities. I wanted to be close enough to the park that we weren't spending hours driving every day. I wanted peace and quiet, not crowds. Most importantly, I wanted to feel immersed in nature. Mazama Ranch House exceeded every expectation. We stayed in one of the double queen rooms in the Wings, and it was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The kitchenette had everything we needed, and the porches on both sides of the building were perfect for enjoying the sunrise with coffee and watching the sunset after long days on the trail. Every detail made it feel cozy without sacrificing functionality. One of the biggest surprises was how convenient the location was. We could walk to the Mazama Store for groceries and gas, as well as the nearby restaurant/brewery, yet the property still felt wonderfully secluded. The grounds are absolutely stunning. Wide-open green meadows and fields, ponderosa pines with singing birds, stunning landscaping, hammocks, picnic tables, peaceful walking paths, and a hot tub that quickly became our favorite post-hike tradition. After spending 8-10 hours exploring North Cascades each day, soaking in the hot tub while surrounded by nothing but nature was exactly what we needed before doing it all again the next morning. What really stood out was the atmosphere. Everyone staying there seemed to be seeking the same thing: peace, adventure, and an appreciation for the outdoors. It never felt crowded or noisy, just calm and restorative. Check-in couldn't have been easier. Our room number was waiting on a sticky note at the front entrance, and everything was ready when we arrived. During our week-long stay, housekeeping checked in to see if we needed fresh towels or anything else, and every interaction was warm and welcoming. We also had the chance to meet one of the owners, who took the time to chat with us and recommend several fantastic hikes around Mazama outside the national park. That personal touch made an already memorable stay even more special. This is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave. I can already picture myself returning for another hiking trip, a birthday getaway, an anniversary, or simply a quiet weekend to disconnect and recharge. Leaving was honestly the hardest part. I wasn't ready to trade the peaceful mornings, mountain air, and incredible tranquility for everyday life. If you're looking for luxury, you'll find it here in a different way. Not through extravagance, but through simplicity, thoughtful hospitality, breathtaking surroundings, and the kind of peace that's becoming harder and harder to find. We stayed in room 6, it had a queen bed, kitchenette, a back deck and there was even a screen on the door so we could leave it open and enjoy the river that runs behind the motel. There is also a park right across the street that is beautiful. Just be aware there is no cell service in Conconully and the wifi in our room was spotty, but we were the farthest room from the office where the router is located. There is also no microwave in the room, however there is a stove/oven etc. to make up for it. We would definitely stay here again.

And that fireplace...it can heat the place up let me tell you! Our lovely patio looked onto the meadow where we were greeted by a deer every morning. There's lots of exploring to be done, if you go down by the huts, there's a trail to the river and lots of little paths to venture down. We were one of two families staying at first, so WIFI in cabin 6 worked just fine. When we left (on a Wednesday) lots of people were arriving. Each cabin had a porta-potty, but the bathroom was close enough that we just used that. The bathrooms were spotless and cleaned daily. My one complaint is that the pizza place opened at 2 and closed at 8 (so no coffee/espresso) and it was only a couple days a week. But that's a great way to explore Mazama and Winthop. And, if there was an emergency, no one was onsite. Pretty sure there was a bear on the premises one night, as the "bear-proof" trash area and dumpsters got ransacked, so come prepared, especially if you're camping. Will we come again? YES. Loved this spot, the quiet, the "just enough" roughing it. Safe, clean and fun!

Over the next few days we also noticed the following: 1) under the bed there are numerous boxes, two microwaves and a pair of dirty socks. 2) 2 out of 4 of the bathroom light bulbs were not working. 3) the bathroom cabinet has a bunch of random stuff including an empty tp roll. 4) the fireplace was taken apart and the thermostat was hanging off the wall. 5) a candy wrapper under the couch. 6) top of the fridge was disgustingly dirty. 7) cabinets are messy and disorganized. 8) carpets are super dirty. 9) random sleds and rubber glove in parking area. 10) windows are also disgusting. This place doesn't feel like a rental. It feels like someone's house that wasn't expecting guests. Creepy. Also, the "hot tub" is not hot and doesn't have functioning jets. It seems to have been that way for a long time. I reached out to management and they completely brushed off my concerns. They came by to put the fireplace back together and screw in the light bulbs that weren't working, but otherwise nothing. They tried to say it was because it was a same day turn around, but this place is chronically dirty and disorganized. I get that the cabin is old, but for $200/ night I would expect it to be clean. We will never stay here again and we WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone! There are way better places to stay.

The resort is on Lucky Louie Rd do not turn into Wolf Song Road. It'll take you in a long dirt road that does but up to the back of the resort property, but not accessible by vehicle to get to the cabins. Our studio cabin was small but cute. The furniture was made with logs, very rustic. The couch is a log frame with with a futon mattress. The reason we chose the wolf ridge resort is it was dog friendly without breaking the bank. For a three night stay, dog & air bnb fees we paid just little over $400. With that being said, the room had the basic amenities. A coffee pot with some coffee provided. A microwave, fridge. All what you would envision in a hotel room not a house. They did have a small single burner you could plug in and cook. We did not use it so I can't attest it's usability. There was a pot and pan available but no oil or anything like that in the cabin. The bed was comfortable. I must tell you internet is spotty and they only have Netflix available for TV watching. It was ridiculous to even attempt setting it up. We finally lost patience and used our phones and our data to watch shows. Thankfully we brought our iPad. The property itself is relaxing. The pool, while we didn't use it, wasn't hot, thank goodness because I wouldn't have gone in it. The warming house which has a fireplace and ping pong table along with the playground and horse shoe pits at one time were probably really well loved. They remind me of the toy story toys that at one point were well-loved. We did play ping pong and utilized the horse show pits. They were in really rough conditions and hard to play but was fun anyway. What I loved about this place is it's peaceful serenity. They had a river trail to the river. We brought our beach chairs from home and took them down to the river and relaxed which is one of my fav things to do, no one else was down there so we had the place to ourselves and I could let my dog run free. Overall a decent place to stay for the price, I'd say it's worth the money. The resort is about 15 minutes from Twisp and less than 10 minutes from Winthrop. A real pretty drive. Of course the Methow valley is beautiful where you drive.

We stayed at this property in February 2010. The contact organization is Central Reservations in…read moreWinthrop, WA. It looked bright and clean from the internet pictures, and it was pet friendly. On arrival, the first thing I did was check the sheets. I found them wrinkled and, upon closer inspection, there was a pubic hair nestled in the sheets! The 2nd bedroom revealed stained pillowcases, and wrinkled sheets. I immediately called Central Reservations. They dispatched 2 housekeepers who arrived and demanded to see the pubic hair before changing the sheets! The replacement sheets were severely pilled and worn. A thrift store would not accept them as a donation, but they appeared clean. When I pointed out the stains on the pillowcase on the bed in the 2nd bedroom, the housekeeper refused to change the sheets in this room, pretending to change them behind a closed door. I quickly realized there was nowhere to deposit our trash. No instructions, no outside trash can. Since there is no landline in this property, I had to go to a wifi site and send an email. I was advised by Central Reservations to "just leave the trash on the porch". Knowing that there are domestic and wild animals who could/would make a mess of unsecured garbage, there was no way I was going to do this. Instead we spent one trip a day in the car trying to find secret trash cans in Winthrop to dispose of our trash. In response to an email, Central Reservations again dispatched a housekeeper to remove our garbage and leave us new trash bags. The only problem was, since there was no land line, Central Reservations did not know and could not check that we were not home (we were out trying to find somewhere to dump our trash). The housekeeper entered the house without our permission, and terrorized our poor cat, who is afraid of humans, and spent the next few hours cowering and yowling under the bed. The property is very dirty. Stained pot holders are prominently displayed on hooks over the stove, many cigarette butts sit in a pot on the deck. My cat scooped hunks of hair, crumbs, an old cracker, dirt and dust from under the stove. There is dog feces in the yard. The shower curtain is coated with soap scum. The venetian blind in the bathroom is bent and almost non-functional. The pet hair on the blinds is unsightly. The space behind the TV is very dusty. Even the hooks that hold the coffee mugs in the kitchen are dirty. The good things about this house are the newish fridge, full size washer/dryer, the stove/oven, microwave, TV and DVD player. The airtight gas stove works well. The view of the river is stunning. Upon departure, we checked under the bed and found a dirty sock and a pair of dirty underpants. We were surprised at the lack of cleanliness of this house, since it looked white and sparkly on the internet. Just because it is a property that allows pets, does not mean it can't be clean. If you plan to stay here bring blankets to put over the furniture and be prepared to do your own deep cleaning. We will NEVER stay here again.

Coffee starts around 6a, and we brought our own wine for pre-dinner drinks. No free organized activities, but I really enjoyed the kayaking tour; we also rented an ATV for the day to tour the valley w the whole family (visited orchard, old schoolhouse, etc), I did horseback riding half-day, took the blue bus (free for ranch guests) upvalley to hike the Agnes Gorge trail, and did a lot of reading, hanging out w the toddler, and digital detoxing (although the ranch house did receive the WiFi in the parking lot during our visit!) Husband and in-laws found great fly fishing in the river across the street from the ranch, and enjoyed the easy option to rent a bike from the ranch to head to other fishing spots. Toddler-specific info: she loved walking around the ranch and seeing the pigs and horses, playing on the playground, talking to other kids. We brought our own toys (magnatiles, crayons etc) for inside time which was helpful. Wish I had brought blackout curtain alternatives to keep the downstairs bedroom darker for naptime, although it was fine. Washing machine in the ranch house was out of order (we didn't plan to use). Bus ride to ranch from ferry landing to ranch was 30 min (entertainingly bumpy for toddler). Emailing ranch was very helpful for answering Qs!
