In fact, I would go as far as saying Mazama Ranch House isn't just a place to sleep, it's a destination and retreat all on its own. When I was researching places to stay for a week of hiking in the North Cascades, I had a few priorities. I wanted to be close enough to the park that we weren't spending hours driving every day. I wanted peace and quiet, not crowds. Most importantly, I wanted to feel immersed in nature. Mazama Ranch House exceeded every expectation. We stayed in one of the double queen rooms in the Wings, and it was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The kitchenette had everything we needed, and the porches on both sides of the building were perfect for enjoying the sunrise with coffee and watching the sunset after long days on the trail. Every detail made it feel cozy without sacrificing functionality. One of the biggest surprises was how convenient the location was. We could walk to the Mazama Store for groceries and gas, as well as the nearby restaurant/brewery, yet the property still felt wonderfully secluded. The grounds are absolutely stunning. Wide-open green meadows and fields, ponderosa pines with singing birds, stunning landscaping, hammocks, picnic tables, peaceful walking paths, and a hot tub that quickly became our favorite post-hike tradition. After spending 8-10 hours exploring North Cascades each day, soaking in the hot tub while surrounded by nothing but nature was exactly what we needed before doing it all again the next morning. What really stood out was the atmosphere. Everyone staying there seemed to be seeking the same thing: peace, adventure, and an appreciation for the outdoors. It never felt crowded or noisy, just calm and restorative. Check-in couldn't have been easier. Our room number was waiting on a sticky note at the front entrance, and everything was ready when we arrived. During our week-long stay, housekeeping checked in to see if we needed fresh towels or anything else, and every interaction was warm and welcoming. We also had the chance to meet one of the owners, who took the time to chat with us and recommend several fantastic hikes around Mazama outside the national park. That personal touch made an already memorable stay even more special. This is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave. I can already picture myself returning for another hiking trip, a birthday getaway, an anniversary, or simply a quiet weekend to disconnect and recharge. Leaving was honestly the hardest part. I wasn't ready to trade the peaceful mornings, mountain air, and incredible tranquility for everyday life. If you're looking for luxury, you'll find it here in a different way. After our hike, we made our way to Mazama, stopping at the Mazama Store before heading over to the inn, at which point we realized how tiny and great Mazama really is! We arrived to the hotel around 2:00pm and I was happy to learn our room was ready for check in. A friendly gentleman handled the process and though he shared he doesn't usually work the front desk, you honestly wouldn't have known as check in was smooth, welcoming, and effortless. Our room was located on the second floor of the main building, and to our surprise, it was actually a loft style room which was a really fun bonus! The room also had a small balcony, a kitchenette with a mini fridge, Keurig, and microwave (I think) and even though the bathroom was on the smaller side, the shower was excellent... I love a good hot shower with great pressure. After dinner, we relaxed by dipping our feet into the hot tub before spending some time in the cozy common area upstairs which again felt warm and homey. The entire property was clean, quiet, and really well maintained. Overall, the price was reasonable, especially considering the area and the level of comfort. I had researched several lodging options of various tiers around both Mazama and Winthrop and I feel confident that I made the right choice. The Inn at Mazama is a gem for anyone wanting to unwind in nature without sacrificing comfort. I would absolutely 100% stay here again!

Upon entering the property everything was very well labeled, and you were able to easily find the hotel by following the signed on the road. You passed the stables before getting to the main building. All animals are happy, healthy, and very friendly. Upon walking into the hotel, the front desk was not super well labeled, and I found no one to talk to. I had wandered the property for about 20 minutes before coming back to the lobby and someone finally stopped me with the quote above. I had noticed her actively watching me throughout my search for help, but I was only stopped once I came back to the front. To get checked in we had to find a second person, and he walked us around the property showing us all the different amenities and how to access them. After that we explored on our own and spent most of our time on the back deck of our room. The room we stayed in was very clean and welcoming. Our back deck had an amazing view of the valley and mountains beyond. Overall, I would come back, as the food and hotel amenities are amazing. This is also a good spot to stay if you are planning to do some bigger hiking trails on that side of the North Cascades.

I planned my trip to North Cascades National Park a bit later than usual and was nervous that lodging options would be limited. Luckily, with a bit of sleuthing, I discovered the lodge typically has a two night minimum but that there happened to be a single night available on the exact day I was planning to visit. One quick phone call later, I had a room at the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin booked! Our ferry ride over was less than ideal (despite the stunning views) so the moment we arrived in Stehekin my entire mood shifted. The scenery somehow became even more breathtaking and the peaceful remoteness of the area was *exactly* what I had been craving. I had been looking at pictures of Stehekin in the days leading up to my trip, eagerly awaiting my own experience. Check in at the lodge was quick and easy due to its perfect location just steps from the ferry landing. Our room had a classic lodge feel (simple but cozy) with two beds (yahoo), a larger-than-expected bathroom, a small kitchenette (mini fridge and coffee maker), and a patio with two chairs. The bed was super comfortable, I took a great nap and had an excellent night of sleep as well. The patio was a wonderful spot to relax in the evening even though all rooms share that setup and it's a popular hangout in the evenings. The only minor drawback was the occasional passing car which slightly interrupted the otherwise serene lake views and peace and quiet. For dinner, we ate at the lodge's restaurant (The Landing) where I ordered a delicious sandwich with fries. It's counter service setup though staff brings your food to the table. The service was friendly and efficient. While the prices were on the higher side, it's understandable given the remoteness of the location and well worth it, in my opinion. On the topic of price, there is no free WiFi at the lodge, you have to pay $5 for a designated amount of WiFi (either data or 24 hours, whichever comes first). The red bus and blue bus are added costs as well and there are no bikes available for rent at the lodge. Even so, one of my favorite parts of staying at the lodge was the community feel, ESPECIALLY with so many PCT hikers passing through!!!! Some were staying overnight, others were recharging their phones, grabbing food, or just relaxing while waiting out the heat. I absolutely loved chatting with the thruhikers - they were so kind, so, so inspiring, and full of stories even though they just recently set out on their treks southbound to Mexico. I genuinely wish them the best on their incredible, life-changing journey #jealous. All in all, North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin is the perfect base for experiencing this magical corner of Washington. I can't wait to return and next time, I'll hope to stay even longer.

For example, we were sitting at the landing, waiting for the boat to take us back to Chelan, and we saw a deer wander by followed by bald eagle landing in a tree a few hundred feet away. That happened in the span of 10 minutes. Needless to say, if you've never been up this direction, it's well worth your trip! the lodge is literally one of the only businesses up here, and if you're not staying here, the main reason you would visit is to grab something from the small store, or to grab food from the restaurant. We tend to come here for lunch on the day that we are leaving, and it never disappoints. The burgers are good, the sandwiches are solid, and on our last trip, we found that the desserts are nice. Nothing fancy, but certainly a step up from Camping food for anyone that's coming off the PCT! They have plenty of beer and wine options. We found it was surprisingly nice to have a glass of a red blend on the deck overlooking lake Chelan! Again, a spot well worth checking out and one that has some solid option for your remote eating and drinking pleasure!

Over the next few days we also noticed the following: 1) under the bed there are numerous boxes, two microwaves and a pair of dirty socks. 2) 2 out of 4 of the bathroom light bulbs were not working. 3) the bathroom cabinet has a bunch of random stuff including an empty tp roll. 4) the fireplace was taken apart and the thermostat was hanging off the wall. 5) a candy wrapper under the couch. 6) top of the fridge was disgustingly dirty. 7) cabinets are messy and disorganized. 8) carpets are super dirty. 9) random sleds and rubber glove in parking area. 10) windows are also disgusting. This place doesn't feel like a rental. It feels like someone's house that wasn't expecting guests. Creepy. Also, the "hot tub" is not hot and doesn't have functioning jets. It seems to have been that way for a long time. I reached out to management and they completely brushed off my concerns. They came by to put the fireplace back together and screw in the light bulbs that weren't working, but otherwise nothing. They tried to say it was because it was a same day turn around, but this place is chronically dirty and disorganized. I get that the cabin is old, but for $200/ night I would expect it to be clean. We will never stay here again and we WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone! There are way better places to stay.

The resort is on Lucky Louie Rd do not turn into Wolf Song Road. It'll take you in a long dirt road that does but up to the back of the resort property, but not accessible by vehicle to get to the cabins. Our studio cabin was small but cute. The furniture was made with logs, very rustic. The couch is a log frame with with a futon mattress. The reason we chose the wolf ridge resort is it was dog friendly without breaking the bank. For a three night stay, dog & air bnb fees we paid just little over $400. With that being said, the room had the basic amenities. A coffee pot with some coffee provided. A microwave, fridge. All what you would envision in a hotel room not a house. They did have a small single burner you could plug in and cook. We did not use it so I can't attest it's usability. There was a pot and pan available but no oil or anything like that in the cabin. The bed was comfortable. I must tell you internet is spotty and they only have Netflix available for TV watching. It was ridiculous to even attempt setting it up. We finally lost patience and used our phones and our data to watch shows. Thankfully we brought our iPad. The property itself is relaxing. The pool, while we didn't use it, wasn't hot, thank goodness because I wouldn't have gone in it. The warming house which has a fireplace and ping pong table along with the playground and horse shoe pits at one time were probably really well loved. They remind me of the toy story toys that at one point were well-loved. We did play ping pong and utilized the horse show pits. They were in really rough conditions and hard to play but was fun anyway. What I loved about this place is it's peaceful serenity. They had a river trail to the river. We brought our beach chairs from home and took them down to the river and relaxed which is one of my fav things to do, no one else was down there so we had the place to ourselves and I could let my dog run free. Overall a decent place to stay for the price, I'd say it's worth the money. The resort is about 15 minutes from Twisp and less than 10 minutes from Winthrop. A real pretty drive. Of course the Methow valley is beautiful where you drive.
