Consider yourself pretty darn special if you get to stay out here at this lodge. It's a beautiful, and remote lodge with gorgeous lake views and notable hospitality. It does get warm in the summer (we came late July) we requested 2 fans which really got us thru the nights. There is a general store/ gift shop with lots of goodies and basic needs. The dining room has delicious meals that are a little pricey but it's a supply and demand type of thing. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here on different days. Breakfast was our all time fave. The best blueberry pancakes and legit bacon and hash. Don't expect the wifi to work when you visit, it was not working when we came and the lady said it'll probably be a few months till it gets fixed. There is no t.v and no data meaning you cannot text or call. I'm not complaining just being informative. We stayed at this lodge for 2 nights/ 3 days my kids dreaded the beginning and it was even a little hard for myself but we found ourselves really enjoying the outdoors, numerous times left our phone in the room without even noticing. Everyone who works here wears many hats. Like literally the person who checks you in probably also cleans your room and maybe even unloads the Lady of the Lake express boat or is a waitress in the Dining room there. It's actually pretty neat. Everyone is just so incredibly nice and helpful I really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend everyone come out here at least for a day. read more

First of all, Stehekin is one of the most untouched and beautiful places I have ever been too. It's so peaceful and picturesque that it blows my mind how I had never been here before now? Absolutely loved Stehekin and cannot wait to come back. The North Cascade Lodge is the first thing you see as you enter since your boat docks here and there are no roads that lead you to Stehekin, you must take a boat ride. The lodge is where you can stay during your visit or grab a simply yet delicious meal during your visit. I got their grilled cheese and fries on the way back and it was so good! Thick bread slices, thick slices of cheddar cheese with fries! It was so comforting and so well made. I cannot wait to visit again and actually experience staying in North Lodge and try out more of their menu items. Worth it! read more

I loved the old inn and how convenient it is to hiking trails (especially those along Cascades River Road), and some great little restaurants across the street. If you're in Stehekin, you're going to be hungry. Either you've jut been on a boat for 4 hours, or you've just been hiking up mountains for days and eating nothing but trailmix and freeze-dried soup. No matter what, your appetite is going to be kicking in. The restaurant at the landing is literally the only restaurant in Stehekin, so there is no competition. Be prepared to pay a fairly hefty price for things, which you'll likely overlook the fact because you're ravenous, and because you understand what efforts were made to get that food up there. We had a burger to go at dinner time when we got off the trail as a heavenly reward for our intense 7,000ft descent down the mountain. Dinner reservations are just about required; even if the place looks empty, they are somewhat short on staff and keep the seating small. They will accommodate you by giving things to go, which to me is somewhat questionable. Here you are in this pristine place that is Stehekin on Lake Chelan, not accessible by road, yet they're creating a massive amount of waste with to-go containers that are not ecologically sound. Shame! At breakfast, they serve Starbucks coffee strong enough to put hair on a man's (or woman's) chest and refills are free if you're dining in. We dined in, and our server Nick was incredibly chipper and personable, although he tends to up-sell and guilt customers into buying and eating more. The meals are pretty basic - eggs with English muffins and hashbrowns that taste like they're from a diner and rather bland; French toast with berries and pastry cream that was standard in most regards. The food will get the job done, but you won't mind so much to be paying for a hot meal and a beautiful atmosphere. Loved my room it overlooked the lake and it was beautiful. Very clean. No washers and driers. Had to use a public washer and drier down the road and some of my clothes went missing.. :( The restaurant was great except one of the waiters was kind of rude to a few people who came with me out there. Another waitress gave my group nasty looks as we walked in the door. Although there was a waiter that I was happy to tip one of the days I was there. Also other members of my group were told to keep it down because the were conversing outside in the morning as to not disturb other guests. They were Elders and just gabbing with each other not loudly. Loved the location and the quality of the rooms, just not the attitudes of some of the employees. Just came back from a weekend (during covid-19) at the North Cascades Lodge in Stehekin. They did an excellent job with safety precautions. All employees always wore masks, there were plexiglass barriers, six foot markings, etc. I would also say 95% of the guests followed the precautions and wore masks too. There are always a few jerks who don't think the rules apply to them. But anyway, it was wonderful to be in Stehekin and the lodge was great! The food service is limited to take out but we enjoyed eating on our balcony or on the big deck. Gorgeous view! The room was spotless, the food was good, the staff were super helpful. They bent over backwards - I was so impressed. Really a wonderful time. The WiFi is crappy but it does work now and then and if you come to stehekin you probably are trying to get away from all that anyway so it's just as well! read more

As on every away mission, each of our crew members has taken responsibility for surveying a single aspect of local culture in great detail. To avoid burdening the crew, I have taken on the most arduous task: that of reviewing all locally made and artisanal ice cream. It is in this capacity -- and only this capacity -- that I can review the North Cascades Lodge. I am aware that they provide some sort of lodging and dining service, but for the purposes of this review, I speak only to their ice cream. And I speak as follows: Meh. As I understand it, "meh" is a human expression referring to experiences that are neither Vulcan good nor Romulan bad. Thus, I believe this is the appropriate description of the ice cream I sampled in two flavors: Creamsicle (the first officer's choice, OBV), and Turkish Coffee. About the Creamsicle, there is little to be said, except to place a note in the first officer's personnel file suggesting that we have grave concerns about his judgment. The Turkish Coffee is a more complicated case. On the one hand, my initial reaction was extreme disappointment in the texture of the ice cream. It was insufficiently creamy, and indeed, almost icy. Furthermore, the coffee taste lacked the kind of flavor intensity that (surprisingly!) many human ice cream purveyors are now capable of injecting into their iced creams. (Note to Starfleet: Please ensure artisanal ice cream vendors have not appropriated alien flavor infusion technology.) Nonetheless, and to my great surprise, I enjoyed this ice cream. No, it is not simply because all ice cream is intrinsically good. (Though that probably helped.) In this case, the source of my enjoyment was in the texture of the ground-up beans that inflected the ice cream and made for an interesting bumpiness, with little waxy chocolatey-tasting coffee bits. I know that doesn't sound appealing, but trust me -- it's actually quite satisfying. So satisfying that I may even stir coffee grounds into my own ice cream in the future. Should you spend 8 hours and $40 on a round-trip boat ride in order to have this ice cream? No. (Especially if it also requires light years of travel and a few trillion dollars for the spaceship that will get you to this planet in the first place.) But if you happen to find yourself in Stehekin, and you have just gone on a six-hour hike that burns as many calories as an ice cream contains, and you really feel like ice cream, and you like coffee ice cream (because none of the handful of other flavors they offered were worth considering) then sure, why not. read more

:: After a harrowing hot hike, this restaurant glowed like our beacon. :: "Must make it to Stehekin," was our mantra. We went on a hike of Lake Chelan's Lakeshore Trail in July. I would totally recommend this hike, but....not when it's hot & especially with doggies who aren't used to hot conditions. Oh, and also don't go if you're fighting a cold. Ok, enough whining. (that will be for a Yelp of the trail) ;) Alls I can say is the meal at the Stehekin Landing Resort was AMAZING. Yeah, it was expensive, and they didn't have fries when we were there, but this food was simply orgasmic. Battered, bruised, and belly's filled with only hiking food, we needed to treat ourselves. We each had the bacon burgers, chips, and a bottle of beer. The burgers were to die for! They raised spirits. They re-energized our broken bodies. With this being the only option in town for food, and with it being closed to the dock, they were doing a brisk business. This village is interesting. If isolation is what you want, you've come to the right place. The resort and all the people of the village have to wait for supplies via a barge up Lake Chelan. So getting normally basic stuff is a feat. And I don't mind paying extra for it! The restaurant has seating inside, there's also a nice balcony. We stole a spot across the "street" and sat on a cement block next to the crystal clear blue water of Chelan. We sat here and engulfed our meals under the sun. One of the best meals ever. Our bodies slowly came back to life. read more

You always have low expectations when you step off the ferry and the only place to eat has you as their captive audience. On a whim I ordered soup since the cash register attendant said it came with baguette. Imagine my surprise when a lush, delicious, well seasoned hearty homemade soup arrived at the table, with a steaming hot baguette. The soup was so delicious my teenage son abandoned his chicken strips to polish off my soup, laden with chunks of chicken, corn, and potato. That of course meant I had to turn to my husband's cobbler, and after one spoonful it was more of the same... A homemade delicious outrageously good cobbler. I was so surprised by how exceptional these two items tasted that I engaged the waiter in conversation. Apparently the staff takes great pride in concocting their homemade dishes, and have the patience and time to raise the level to exceptional. My suggestion: disregard the pub fare and go straight for the homemade. You will not be disappointed. The only reason why I'm not giving this place five stars is because given the talent of the staff surely they can raise the level on the rest of the menu... I'm thinking hearty tabouli salads, artisan sandwiches, Street tacos, Roasted vegetables, the sky is the limit with this talent. read more

I read the positive reviews and didn't believe it would be as wonderful as people were saying. So incredibly glad I was wrong. Just got back from a long holiday weekend in Stehekin and the North Cascade Lodge and everyone who works there was the cherry on top of the pie that was the best weekend ever! Getting there: The Lady of the Lake ferry was running, but the express (much quicker) was only running the day we left and not returned. In hindsight, may have been worth it to check into the seaplane as we were in a bit of a hurry. The ferry folks were great to work with especially given the fire situation, but just took a long time coming home. Rooms: We had a larger group so had several room types booked. We had one standard room (22) which was nice and clean. We had a two bedroom kitchen booked (28) that was plenty room for the five people staying there and having the kitchen/fridge was nice for a 4 night stay to have snacks and drinks in our room. We also had a room in the building next door (9) that was an end room with a great view of the lake and a bit quieter for the couple who wanted a bit more privacy. Note rooms are a bit worn, with love, but everything was super clean, freshly painted, and linens were all nice. Keep in mind you are a bit remote so if you are wanting the Ritz, maybe go to another city. Arrival: Couldn't have been better and really set the tone. Mary.. we loved Mary.. was there to greet us and explain what would happen. Someone helped with luggage and got us checked in and off to enjoy your stay. Food: We had one dinner at the lodge and it was wonderful. Salmon was perfectly done and the meatloaf was amazing!! People we talked to had lunch and breakfast and said everything was great. Activities: Mary helped make sure we knew how to have fun. We hiked, rented bikes, rented an ATV (all reviewed separately). Everything was well handled and exceeded expectations. Scenery: Was breathtaking! So beautiful and everywhere you looked was something else to ooh and ahh over. This is a nature filled, peaceful getaway that will refresh your spirit. remember...no internet or cell. there is a phone at the lodge for emergencies if you need to leave a number with someone. We are already planning to book for next year and there is a lake house with 4 bedrooms, right on the water, with a hot tub! Got to see the place and think it will be perfect as I know we are going to have even more people join. read more

The Santa Fe chicken was excellent too. The food in the restaurant the past couple years has been nothing to rave about (almost to complain about). I wish I could give half stars. I would go 4.5. Nice and big, clean room. Nice view of the lake and landing and convenient. We stayed just two nights. Staff was friendly. We would stay here again for sure and recommend to anyone and everyone. Although just a tip, there is no internet service here, no TVs and no AC. We had a fan in our room which helped on the warmer evening. It is nice to be out of touch sometimes. :) we ate at the restaurant one day for a late lunch. I had a sandwich on toasted bread. It was turkey with apples, brie cheese and a honey mustard. It was delightful after the long hike. The hubby had a bacon Burger and said it was good but could have uses more bacon. All in all a pleasurable experience. If you are looking for a remote place, this is it. Very nice! read more

I called to ask for some information about Stehekin and various amenities that the resort offered such as bikes and spoke with Diane Jackson, the manager. There must not be a lot of competition for jobs up there because she was so condescending and rude during the entire conversation that I wont care to stay there, even if its a five star resort! I was told that Stehekin would basically be shut down the weekend I was planning on coming and when I asked her for what I could do or how I could get more information so I could make decisions regarding my trip, she got really snotty and said "well, we werent really planning on having a fire three months ago when you booked, what do you want me to do about it, missy?" I told her that there was no need to be rude and talk to me like a child so she told me that I have a real attitude problem and hung up on me. When I called back to speak to the manager she sad "youre talking to her honey!" Maybe this kind of dive bar, backroads hillbilly talk is ok for the locals but for someone trying to get some information and worried about how to get the money back that they already sunk into this trip, this behavior was completely unacceptable and I would not be comfortable staying there. I would especially not be comfortable handing my hard earned money over to that nasty woman. read more

My husband and I stayed at the lodge during the first week of October of 2018. The lodge is clean, and the rooms are very comfortable. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is above average. What really makes staying at the lodge special is the beautiful surroundings and the lovely people. My husband and I came to the lodge with some unique challenges and a number of the staff were very kind and supportive with dealing with them. They certainly didn't have to be but they were very gracious. Steheken is a beautiful unique place that offers gorgeous views, a great bakery, a reprieve from the rush of everyday life, a chance to meet fellow hikers, and an opportunity to be reminded of how nice people can be. read more

There are only 3 dining options in Stehekin so I wasn't expecting much. But I had one of the best veggie burgers ever. He had a French dip and was impressed by the bread. The view is unbeatable. Stop by if you are nearby. read more

We went to Stehekin for the first time a few months ago as a belated birthday present from my husband. I was very impressed with our stay. We stayed in #16- it has a big comfortable bed, shower, but no bath or kitchen. Nice little room, we brought our own little camp stove for cooking. Was extremely impressed with customer service from Mary the manager. she did everything she could to keep us comfortable. she even let us borrow her car to go hiking and fishing for a couple hours when we missed the shuttle. Mary is a extremely hard worker and does all sorts of jobs. We came back to Stehekin for our belated honeymoon this time hiking in. we got to town earlier than expected and needed to find a place to stay. they fit us in last minute gave us a great little room. the bed was so comfortable I felt lost in the bedding and had the best night sleep ever. the only negative feedback from this stay is I'm a non smoker and could smell cigarette smoke from room 24 a few times a day when staff takes a smoke break. most people are not as sensitive to it as I am so it may not be a problem for the next person. that being said, I still love this hotel and will stay there every time I come back to Stehekin. Very reasonably priced! read more

This place lost our reservations and then the resolution was to give us a smaller unacceptable room, but since you are a prisoner based on the location you have no choice. Based on the comments from staff, losing reservations is very common so don't count on getting your room. Restaurant food was horrible and many items not available. So Awesome! The town of Stehekin is very remote; no phone service, spotty internet, etc. This is a Great way to recharge your brain and re-set one's needs for modern "necessities". I wish I spent longer than 2 nights at the Lodge. Room 4 had a kitchenette (bring your own food from Chelan), and 2 rooms (2 beds). the Best part is the deck, with a Killer view of Lake Chelan, with the bluest water that can only be glacial. The restaurant had breakfast from a menu, a counter style lunch, and a sit-down dinner. Chef Jonnie and his staff, Steve and Julian, prepared good food for us. I saw another table bring their own wine for dinner, so that's cool. The restaurant also had beer and wine on the menu. Go for a hike, rent bikes, borrow Real books from the reading room, and R E L A X!! Bring some cash for incidentals, as there is no ATM in town. Credit cards are also accepted. I am going to plan another trip next summer. read more
