i've been meaning to write this review for a while. this is legitimately the best ramen i've ever had in my life, and at a reasonable price. i generally get the hot spicy beef w/ ramen noodles, but have tried nearly every combination of meat, noodle, and even some of the non-noodle options such as the general tso's chicken. quick praise for the service, they're quite attentive and kind, always a pleasant experience dining here and love to see the family helping out within the restaurant. ramen: upon first impression, i was genuinely taken aback by how refreshing the broth was. i've tried ramen from many different cities and countries at this point and my general impression of ramen at sit-down establishments is that the broth tends to either skew towards being more umami, fatty, salty, or watery. typically, i wouldn't describe a standard broth as necessarily refreshing, rather satisfying, in a way that itches your typical ramen craving, but not one that leaves you feeling like you could drink this and feel rejuvenated on a hot day. this ramen's broth is refreshing. it's fresh, flavorful, not overly salty nor fatty, yet compliments the flavor of both the noodles, chili oil (optional), and toppings. when i'm away from college station, i genuinely crave this ramen, and from the texture of the noodle to the portion size, this is a 6 star ramen, a gem of college station, in my opinion. personally, i prefer the ramen noodle option over the rice noodle, but i have thoroughly enjoyed the variation of rice noodles with their seafood option. general tso's chicken: this once again is my favorite general tso's variation i've had from the many that i have tried as of yet. the chicken is crisp, flavorful, and the seasoning is very satisfying. as a pair with the fried rice, i would deduct a half point on account of wishing the chicken to rice ratio was more in favor of the chicken as the fried rice, while still excellent, is ever so slightly more peppery and soft than i prefer without the chicken to balance it out. this is a must-try in cstat. get the hot & spicy beef ramen or the chicken, put some chili oil on top of it. you won't regret it! quick note: the traditional crepe is quite expensive but i have heard a lot of praise for it from my chinese friends. eager to try that one day soon. read more

Came here for the first time with my family. We ordered what was recommended by the waitress and they were all delicious. We ordered the Spicy Beef Ramen Soup, Pork Chop Ramen Soup, Chicken Rice Noodle Stir-Fry, and the Beef Ramen Stir-Fry. We ordered Gyoza for appetizer and they were also crunchy and flavorful. We ordered Thai Tea, but it didn't taste good, like it was watered down. We originally got sent milk tea instead and we thought this was the grossest Thai Tea, but we found out later on that we were given milk tea instead lol. Either way, they both didn't taste good. Portions were all pretty decent for the price. The staff are friendly and fast. Small one way parking lot. Lots of tables to dine on. read more

They make everything when you order it so it takes a little longer but you know it's fresh and made in the shop. I will be coming here again and ordering some of the other options on the menu! I was in town and craving ramen so we decided to give Twisted Noodle a try. The ramen noodles are literally spaghetti noodles. The egg that should have been soft boiled was fully hard boiled and grey. Broth was fine. It was dead silent in there, we felt awkward talking. The BEST and most authentic Chinese ramen noodle place in town!!! They homemade their noodles just like you would see in China- most people that work there are chinese- the food is flavorful and fresh!! The spicy beef namen soup is our go to!! Can be quite spicy so beware if you don't like spice. The kids love their dumplings which authentically comes with vinegar over soy sauce. They also love just eating the noodles. The service is good. It's a great hole in the wall place- perfect for those cold chilly days whenever you want some sort of warm meal!! They even gave our kids little water cups from the bubble tea cups with the seal so they wouldn't leak. Super friendly staff and wonderful food!! We have gotten takeout from Twisted Noodle many times over the past several years. It was consistently delicious and the noodles were always amazing. Now that they are serving something like spaghetti noodles, I don't think we will return. Also, this time the shrimp was tough and the vegetable stir fry had hardly any vegetables. Really tasty noodles and great flavor! The portions are a bit small for the prices but that was fine since I didn't want to eat a lot anyways. I ordered stir fry noodles with beef it was very salty, flavorful, with a bit of spice. I would have liked to have more meat and veggies though. You can watch them pull the noodles as you eat which is very entertaining. Friendly staff, good ambiance, good food with reasonable prices. Great little hidden place for some good ramen! I tried the spicy Beef Ramen Soup and it was pretty good. The soup had good flavor, beef was very well cooked, and the noodles were pretty good. The price was around $11 which is also decent for a ramen. I've been here a handful of times and it's always super delicious, I always get the vegetable ramen soup, but I get it with rice noodles, no egg and vegetable broth. It's always super delicious and both my boyfriend and I love it here. Probably the best soup/broth in CSTAT. Only reason I'm giving this a 4/5 and not 5/5 is because it does take awhile for our order to be taken and brought to us, so if you have a time limit I would definitely order ahead of time to go! read more

Was light tasting. The noodles are made there, if I remember right. Very light and soft. Daughter got the chicken noodle soup, son got the shrimp noodle soup, and husband got the pork chop noodle soup. I'm glad I stuck with the spicy beef noodle soup. The chicken noodle soup wasn't bad, but it had a very strong chicken flavor. The pork chop soup literally had a pork chop in it and it was just harsh. It tasted like you were drinking the pork chop and grease from the pork chop. The shrimp noodle soup was good, had a subtle and light tasting flavor. The crepes were better than the noodles. I was confused by this little place because it seemed like they were serving up Japanese ramen at first glance at the menu. Upon walking in, hearing Mandarin Chinese, and seeing Chinese characters at the top of the menu for "Lanzhou Noodles" I realized that I was not going to be ordering my tonkotsu but rather going for beef noodle soup instead. Not that I was disappointed by this at all. What I was a little let down by was the fact the broth was too salty and the portion was a bit lacking. The noodle texture too, wasn't impressive. They ended up being a bit al dente, rather than the chewier consistency Asian noodle dishes should have. All in all, it wasn't a bad meal, but I've certainly had better. Fortunately, Twisted Noodle brought their rating back up with their dessert! Rather than the soft, French crepe, they make a crispy counterpart that's almost like a thin waffle cone, fill it with ice cream and fruit, and serve it in a pint glass. I thought that the amount of fruit was pretty generous, and that the portion was big enough to share with a friend or devour single-handedly. Would come again for sweets, but not the noodles. It seemed very authentic - we were the only "white" people in there, and our sweet waitress is learning English. But she did very well. I explained I wanted mostly broth, and she insisted I would get plenty. She wasn't exaggerating! The bowls are huge, and the noodle bowl had plenty of everything, including a delicious broth. My only word of warning is - if you don't like cilantro, tell them to hold it as the dish had lots of it. (Lots!!) I will go back and recommend it to my friends. : ) read more

I originally thought I was going into a ramen shop because all the noodles there are called ramen on the menu. But upon entering, I realized it's not ramen, it's an authentic hand-pulled noodle restaurant. I was quite impressed actually because I saw the guy making the noodles right there! I'm very glad there's a hand-pulled noodle place in College statStationon now because I love noodles and it's always so hard for me to find a good place. Now on to the actual noodles themselves. I got the hot and spicy beef noodle soup. I'm pretty picky about my noodles and I personally like when the noodles are a little thicker. These were a little too thin for my liking but that's just the style and that's how the noodles are supposed to be made. The soup, however, is what I had a problem with. I love drinking the soup when I have my noodles, that's why I love soup noodles so much, but this soup was the saltiest thing I have ever had I might as well have been pouring salt down my throat. And the thing is, it was so salty I asked for a hot cup of water, which the waitress kindly gave to me, but even after pouring in the hot water, the soup was just as salty. So I can only imagine how much salt they must have put in the soup. This is the main reason why I give this restaurant 3 stars. The portion size is very good, I was stuffed afterward. Let's talk about the environment. It's lovely until the smoothie machine or whatever it is, goes off and when that happens, it is the loudest, most obnoxious, and horrendous sound you could hear in a restaurant and it's so loud there's no way you can talk to anyone. The gyoza tasted like it was frozen from Costco, the ramen was depressingly bad, so much so that my partner did not finish his bowl. This is the best Asian food in College Station, hands down!! They make their noodles right in front of you, and the texture is incomparable! The beef noodle soup is a MUST. They deck their noodles with garlic, green onions, spinach, and plenty of braised beef- you will not be disappointed! Add some vinegar and their home made chili oil and be prepared to be blown away! Their cheese wontons are one of my favorites as well. The sauce they serve with the cheese wontons is not your regular sweet and sour sauce, it has a plum-like umami flavor that I haven't tasted ever before- and that's coming from someone who grew up working at a Chinese restaurant. We ate here once before about a year ago and it was fabulous. But this time it was very different. The broth or chicken was inedibly salt. I think it was MSG. It is like they accidentally overdosed it with salt or MSG. We all felt wierd or stomach aches during the day after we ate. The noodles were great, but the chicken was so salty you could not eat it. When you stir the soup all together with the chicken, the whole thing became too salty. Our tongues were tingling and we drank an entire glass of water just to wash down the saltiness. I hope this was a mistake on somebody's part and it will change soon. I will try it again because it is of a good quality. read more

When coming here at first glance the business was slow. My experience was great though and the ramen is definitely one of the best I've tried in College Station. Watching the noodles being pulled in front of you is worth the trip by itself. These are noodle masters and the texture and flavor shows it. Our group had two stir frys (beef and lamb) and a spicy beef soup, plus a chicken appetizer crepe and a chocolate banana dessert crepe. The noodles are Chinese style so don't expect Japanese style broth in the ramen soup or boiled eggs or fish cakes. The broth was delicious, gingery, and lighter than Japanese ramen broth. The stir frys were very good, although the lamb (pre braised for tenderness) was in cubes and didn't quite seem to work as well as the beef.
