I've been to this salon twice to have hair extensions done by LaRae…read more Salon Rating: 4/5 stars. You have to pay for street parking but there is a decent view of the park across the street. The salon was clean. Service Rating: 1/5 stars. I've never had hair extensions before and wanted to try them since I had an event coming up. I did a consult with LaRae through text. She recommended I buy my extensions down in Portland where the shop would help match me. She recommended I buy at least 2 packs of extensions. When I went to her recommended store they were not very helpful. I bought 3 packs of extensions as I have thick hair which was A-line cut. The first time she did my tape-in extensions I'd give her 3.5/5 stars. I asked her to blend the extensions by cutting my hair and the extensions (in the front around my face) so it wasn't so obvious. She also told me afterwards that I'd only be able to curl my hair and not wear it straight. She informed me of how to care for my extensions which turned out NOT to be the way extensions should be maintained. By the time my 7 week return appointment came a handful of extensions had fallen out and those that remained had slipped. For the 2nd appointment, LaRae showed up 10minutes late. Halfway through my appointment she realized she'd double booked herself. Rather than explain to the other client, she rushed through my hair and only put 2 1/4 of the packs of extensions in, left my hair damp and she did not style it so it looked terrible. Absolutely TERRIBLE. I went to another stylist about a week later because my hair was THAT bad. I only wish I'd done more research. LaRae should NOT offer tape in extensions until she actually learns how to correctly install them and advise clients how to properly maintain them. The new stylist I found was only able to salvage 1/2 of my remaining pack. Meaning I had to throw away nearly 2 1/2 packs of extensions (about $375 worth of hair!) because they were damaged by me being misinformed how to maintain them from LaRae. The new stylist also had extensions in her salon so she could perfectly match my color. After installing, the new stylist BLENDED the front of my hair that I'd asked Larae to do and she clearly didn't know how to. The other stylist also provided the correct way to maintain and gave me a starter kit to properly maintain extensions that included: shampoo, conditioner, a specific brush, and satin scrunchies. I left a review and LaRae did refund the cost of her service without me asking but this experience costed nearly $400 in extensions that were supposed to get up to 6 installs and only got me 2. A hard and expensive lesson to learn.

She is extremely knowledgeable on products and she creates time in her busy schedule to teach classes for other salons on techniques and new products on the market. She is very educated and I'm always impressed with her knowledge! Sarah is attentive and understanding whenever I'm interested in a new style yet she is willing to tell me if it will not be right for me. I appreciate her knowledge and opinion. I am always inspired by her excitement for her customers well being and that she is certainly on the cutting-edge in this ever growing industry. No pun intended.

I think the stylist and I might have had a miscommunication because I asked for her to put more layers in my hair and clean up my bangs. She asked if she could cut off a little bit of length because of my split ends, and I said that was fine. But when I walked out she'd cut off a good four inches, and the layers were barely there. The ends of my hair are really boxy, blunt, and heavy now, but I'm afraid to go anywhere to fix it because I don't want to lose even more length. I hate to leave a negative review because this was a really nice place and the stylist was really kind but I'm so sad about my hair. I look like Lord Farquaad.

She arrived and was instructed to sign in. She filled out her name and started to answer other questions such as email and birthdate. It was not an IPad and the keyboard was different than she was used to. She got frustrated trying to backspace and correct spelling. Knowing that she had used the salon just three weeks prior she didn't feel they needed all that info to be repeated so she gave up and sat down. A man she had never seen before approached her with the tablet and pointed out nicely that the info was not completed. She stated that the salon had the info from her appointment three weeks ago and she didn't need to repeat all the information again. He stated that she did indeed need to fill it all out. She stated that it wasn't necessary as it was in their system. He said she HAD to fill it out. She was frustrated with his attitude and stated that she could just use another salon. He became angry and told her to "please leave". She was taken aback and stated that she had an appointment. He restated that she was to "please leave. Just leave please! Go! Leave please." Her hair stylist started to approach her so she told her she was being kicked out. She asked why and my wife told her she didn't fill out the information. At this point the the man is continuing to point and repeat in a raised voice. "Please leave! Please leave." The number of times he stated "leave please" was shocking. She turned to go and stated that he was rude and she left the salon. This all happened in front of the hair stylists and all the clients. She was stunned and couldn't believe she had just been kicked out of the hair salon by a man she'd never seen before. She was also shocked that her hair stylist did not contact her to reschedule (though she would not have done that anyway) or to check on her after being yelled at and disrespected. My husband found Dee who is a barber/stylist/colorist on a whim and a chance. Normally my husband would not set foot into a "girly salon"....but thankfully he did because he met Dee. Dee has cut his hair perfectly on three separate occasions in the past 3ish months. I met Dee by going with my husband on one of his visits. I immediately found him very friendly and charismatic. I scheduled my first appointment after grilling him on his past experience. Before my appointment Dee texted asking for pictures of what I would like to do with my hair specifically . He wanted to make sure he had the correct color and or products in stock. Dee was ready and waiting when I arrived for my appointment. I was offered a beverage -coffee, tea, water or a soda. We then spent some time discussing the best plan action plan for my hair. After the weave was complete he washed and styled making sure the color was even and to my liking. When I left I scheduled my next appointment for myself and my husband. Dee is new to the area and building his clientele so appointments are easier to get....this will not last long so get in while you can, he is a Gem! Take it from someone who has spent a ton of time in a beauticians chair, I know a good one when I experience one. His prices are reasonable and fair compared to other salons in the area.
