I love twister cakes. The last time I had them was at Queens Night Market. Recently I found out that they also make chocolate babka. OMG! I thought these are super delicious! I have been living in NYC for quite some time now and I tried different foods around the world, just because we NY-ers can do this everyday if we want:) there is this market in Queens which I recommend to anyone who visits NY, they have it from April until September(Queens international night market)and here you can try different foods from all over the world. That's how I came across my first Twister Cake aka Kurtos or Kurtoskalacs. I admit it reminds me of my childhood because it's a traditional romanian/hungarian food, but that's not the only reason why I like it. I tried other forms of Chimney cakes from other vendors and none taste like the one this guy makes. He started out a few years ago making simple ones with walnuts and coconut or cinnamon, but now he makes them with Nutella, filled with ice-cream, chocolate or vanilla and different other flavors. What I like most about the Twister Cake this guy makes is that he makes them fresh so when you go there you actually have to wait until he makes one, he doesn't just grab them out of a freezer and hands them to you. He actually takes the time to make them right in front of you! And you can watch him do it. It's a real show!:) you can tell he is very passionate about doing this and honestly there is nothing that could come out SOOO GOOD unless you put passion into it! If you find him somewhere "twisting" them, grab one, or two, or more!!:) The one with Nutella is to die for...and the one with coconut, and walnuts.
