Gotta day, when they first opened up - they were amazing. However, I went in two (2) days ago and that will be my last visit. 1. Shop was empty when I walked in. Clerk came out of the bathroom (I'm hoping she washed her hands), and looked confusingly at me - she was apparently unsure of why I was there. 2. While there was variety - it was akin to Safeway, Albertsons, or Fred Meyer (caveat: FM has Top Pot Doughnuts out of Seattle-totally amazing btw). 3. Jelly Doughnuts: plump looking, but upon inspection - there was LITERALLY 1/2 tsp of filling (this would be the same size as a "snack size" Tootsie Roll. Possibly smaller. 4. Fritters - As I've been baking/cooking for over 20 years, fritters should be an amalgamation of dough and a filling (usually a fruit). These fritters were fried dough pieces with a fruit sauce applied to the top after cooking. NOTE: No strawberries, apple, etc were harmed in the production of these pastries. 5. Generalization: My assorted dozen did not taste fresh. Arriving mid-morning should still retain a modicum of freshness. Very dissatisfying. 6. Generalization: For a total of over $20, none of these comments should apply, but they were not delicious nor were they worthy of the price. Note: The place was very clean looking. No messes, spoiled food/beverage, no dirty dishes. Well maintained. Note: The bacon-maple bars were tasty. I feel that covering the bar with bits vs. strips laid across is actually more visually appealing, better cash value (bang for your buck), and better tasting. Good job. read more

I think I was most confused by why they are rated so high. Their doughnuts were lower than mediocre; I wished I'd have gone to Safeway instead. I will say the girl behind the counter was super sweet, but the doughnuts were super lame. read more

Yum!!! This place has great donuts. The people who work here are very friendly and accomodating. Just the other day, I wanted an eclair and they were out - so they made me one on the spot. My son loves the donut holes and I adore the fritters. My other half loves the bacon topped maple bar. We just keep coming back. This is one of those places we don't want to see drop off the map in Olympia. Also, they aren't like some of those other donut shops that are open late, but only cook once a day. We've been in there at all times of the day and they always seem to have something fresh. AND they're open until 10 with free wifi. Now. that's something different here. The open late part. I love donuts. I used to love Twister donuts. But the last time I went to Twister I was very disappointed. It was a few weeks ago on a late Saturday AM. The berry jelly donut had almost zero jelly- literally probably one teaspoon. It was the same flavorless fruitless institutional jelly that you can find in any low-end donut shop. Half the quantity and less than half the quality of Krispy Kreme. The donut itself was dry and stale tasting. My son was looking forward to a peach fritter. He took a couple bites and threw it out. It smelled like peaches, but there was no evidence of peach chunks anywhere in the fritter. Just a big blob of peach smelling dough. Very disappointing. A fritter should have chunks of fruit with just enough batter/dough to hold it together. Twister had a great thing going, but they are killing the goose that laid the golden egg by using cheaper, lesser ingredients and not insuring they are fresh, fresh, fresh. Finally, a decent donut shop in the Olympia area! I've lived here for twelve years and have always wondered how the town got by on grocery store donuts and one chain donut store in Lacey. Yuck! And then... Twister donuts opened and a new day dawned. Lovely, light, fluffy, sweet glazed donuts that melt in your mouth. Chocolate covered cake donuts that are perfectly dense and soft. I finally went to twister donuts after months of driving by. The only downfall was they didn't have any maple bars. At 10 a.m. on a Sunday. Which I thought was weird. But their donuts are literally perfect. I totally recommend this place to anyone trying to find a good local donut shop. It seemed all the donuts I was trying to get in my dozen(which was the most expensive of the 3 choices I saw) I was going to get up charged for. I paid the extra amount and it still only came to $15. I had a bacon maple bar, which is a great combination, but i was a little disappointed that it had bacon bits on it. The bacon really lacked that deep smokey flavor that a real piece of bacon has. I'd like to go back and try some of the other varieties of donuts. I'm especially looking forward to trying a buttermilk glazed donut. read more

I am mystified at the reviews here. This place is bad. Based upon the reviews we left our La Quinta hotel today, and headed over to try these donuts. The plain old fashioned I had was soggy and had no special qualities at all. The chocolate was bad. The dough wasn't mixed properly and the ingredients were of lesser, cheap, quality. My wife had a cake donut with maple frosting. The frosting was okay, and overall the donut was blagh. So, I do not understand these reviews here whatsoever. I will say that the person behind the counter was cheerful and seemed to want to please. That is a good quality, but the only good thing about this place. AVOID! read more

Yuck. When this place first opened, I thought the donuts were really good. I don't know if I've changed or if they have, but their donuts are greasy and heavy. A donut should make you feel happy, not wonder if the oil used had been changed recently. I went in and told the clerk that I just wanted four donuts and told her which ones. She stacked (in a small paper bag) my plain cake donut on top of my over-iced chocolate bismark. If I'd wanted a cake donut with chocolate on it, I would have ordered one of the many in the case. One other thing that really bugged me today was the customer service. The clerk was talking and laughing on a cordless phone, roaming everywhere except over to help me. After a good 60 seconds, I walked to where she was on the other side of the counter and said "Excuse me." She actually held her index finger up to me, talked for another 15 seconds, and then hung up. She said sorry, but that it was her boss. Hmmm... wouldn't that be the person most likely to want you off the phone so you can sell donuts? It's Friday afternoon, and I was tired. I don't think this would have been such a big deal at some other time. However, I got home and had my first donut and know without a doubt that that one donut cost me 3.50. Donuts were meh, could've gotten the same thing at ralphs or safeway. The "iced coffee" came out of a box. And the lady that helped me was rude. Even though I told her I had never been in before and needed a minute to decide, she kept barking at me "what do you want"? I felt very rushed even though I was the only person in there. And as soon as she rang me up and threw my receipt back at me I found out why she was in such a hurry, so she could get back on her phone. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra mile or two to Mountain Home Bakery in Lacey where the selection, donuts, and service are 100% better. read more

Donuts where great and lots of choices. However the atmosphere is lousy. Peeling paint. Dirty glass on the case. Limited seating. Coffee area seemed cluttered and not up to date. No tea other than Lipton. I had the peach fritter and the buttermilk bar both where perfect. Also a croissant sandwich which was lacking and nothing special. I would say don't waste money on those. Over all I wish they would invest in a remodel to make the atmosphere match their donuts. Get them to go. Make your own beverage at home. Don't order hot food. read more

I love bacon. I love donuts, and Twister Donuts offers me a both of them together! Their Bacon Maple Bars are definitely the BEST donut I've ever had. That's not the only reason to go there though. Every donut I've had there is fresh and delicious. Their buttermilk donuts are also super good. I've also had their Ham and Cheese donut and it was okay...nothing I care to have again but definitely something you gotta try. All in all, I haven't had a donut from Twister Donuts that I didn't like. Definnitely worth a road trip and a "must go" place if you're already in town. read more

Family run shop and our favorite place in Olympia for donuts. Their fritters are the best. Highly recommend!

Not sure if it was the time we went in or what, but they did not have a big selection at all & what little they had did not look so fresh. There was only one employee working & we weren't really acknowledged or helped (place was completely empty) until I called her over even though she heard us commenting on not knowing what some of the things were. We got an apple fritter, a peach fritter, an apple bacon maple glazed fritter, & a maple glazed bacon bar. While they were decent sized, they were meh & I don't think they were fresh. If they were they must have been made really really early that day because they were hard. Annoyingly sweet too (thank goodness we had water with us). They lacked an overall punch, that feeling you get when you have a really good doughnut. I found it pretty pricey too. I paid 9 dollars & change for 4 items. I probably could have gone to the Walmart bakery spent less than half of what I spent & got better tasting &!fresher doughnuts. I'll stick with making the drive out to Tacoma for legendary's. read more

Crazy selection of Donuts. There are about 6 different fritter flavors. The donuts are a very tasty fried with a liberal amount of frosting and toppings. The ratio of donut to frosting is perfect. The prices are fair, I paid $9 for a "super dozen" that included a few specialty donuts as well as regular ones. I would go back for sure. read more

Tamales! Hey these guys do have great donuts, but their tamales are fantastic-tender and so good. I've had alot of doughy gut bombs that people call tamales, but these are perfection-what a tamale should taste like. We've tried the chicken, beef and pork and they are all good. read more

I went to this place this morning as it was the closest donut shop with decent reviews in Lacey. I got an "Oreo Maple Bar" donut for $1.50.... I guess I would give them 5 stars if they actually used REAL Oreos but they used like the Hispanic sandwich cookie crushed up things. If I am getting charged $1.50 for ANY donut with Oreos, it better have Oreos and it didn't. The only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because the maple glaze was some of the best I've ever tasted and the donut tasted fresh. read more

First of all, let me say that generally I don't eat sweets. When someone brings donuts to a meeting, I don't even give them a second look. But you have to understand, there are donuts and then there are TWISTER donuts. Completely different animal all together. These are amazing, homemade, melt in your mouth, light, fluffy, balls of taste bud pleasure bombs. I found Twister donuts, because I was in the doghouse, and one way to get out is to do something unexpectedly nice, so I got up early, searched the Internet and found Twister. On my way to the airport with my colleagues and wanted to show them what great customer service Twister Donuts provides. I met Jenny again and its amazing she remembered me from two weeks ago. She welcomed us and thank me for coming back. We only had time for a quick coffee and a donut. She is so pleasant and professional. I can't say enough good things about Twister. I went back last week and got another Boston Creme donut and a raspberry jelly filled one. Both were perfect, they had light texture and excellent flavor without being overly sweet. Plus I got a few sprinkle donut holes for my daughter, and the lady behind the counter threw them in for free. This will be my weekend stop every week for Sunday breakfast. read more

They are good but their place smells like that musky smell from your basement or old building, and even if you just go through the drive thru your donuts have a bit of that musk which personally that is the part that bugs me if I get a hint of that. Other than that the staff seems nice and the prices are good and the donuts are typically good. read more

My daughter stopped by today after someone suggested we try the donuts. Despite me being sick and not really being able to fully enjoy them I thought they were pretty good. Decided to pop in yesterday with the family to try out some tasty donuts. Holy sugar coma! We sampled a cinnamon roll (SO good) , some little puffed thing with custard in it (not my fave), a plain cake donut (also really good) and a peanut butter chocolate fritter that sent me to another world. Holy crap was that thing over the top! I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I need another one for a least a year. The amount of peanut butter was INSANE. We will def be back again but I think I need to go run 20 miles in preparation! My only complaint was that the coffee was hardly warm and the girl working wasn't interested in making more. read more

Their donuts were fresh but the bacon maple bar donut was nothing like the picture..It still was ok but not the best. I also ordered the cream filled donut that only had the cream on the last bite. What's better to donut with? Coffee! The coffee was either watered down in the machine or burnt drip.. I picked the too hot burnt bitter drip. The lids are unsafe if you are driving.. Cheap lids break off easily and you spill it all over you and your car. First timer. They have allot of potential if they made a few changes.
