My Tacoma was totaled after a drunk driver rear ended it. It was sitting in the tow lot for a couple of days and racked up a hefty bill, it couldn't stay there another day. I called Triple A and after waiting for four hours for service, I gave up on them. I called Two Bit Tow, gave them the situation, and they gave me a very reasonable quote. I hung up and conferred with my mother, and decided we would cancel the Triple A service after a very long day. I called back and no one answered, but a man named Jose who has his business JV Towing called back, and works with them. Jose came so quickly, he said he'd be there in 30-45 minutes and he came exactly in 30 minutes! My Tacoma needed a flat bed tow because of how badly it was totaled, and to be put in our driveway not blocking the sidewalk due to HOA rules. A very specific tow job, and did an overall amazing job. And to top it all off his pricing was very reasonable. So many tow companies in San Diego have such bad reviews and I cannot see Jose or Two Bit Tow ever being like the other ones. I HAVE USED TWO BIT TOW for years and I have always had good results.Recently I had a car moved from Santee to La Mesa and another car moved from La Mesa to Santee. The driver showed up with a trailer advertising a 35 dollar hook up and 3.50 a mile charge. When I went to pay the driver told me his rates had gone up to 45 dollar hook up and 4.50 a mile. Needless to say I was irate. After discussion he reduced the price of the bill by 10 dollars. He told me he did not have time to change his sign. I will never use this company again . Luckily I didn't need the tow truck, but I showed up to keep my friend company while we waited for his 1960 Studebaker to get towed since the axle broke off of it. Two Bit Tow was the second choice of tow trucks since the first once showed up with the wrong bed for the car even though my friend had told him what was up... what a waste. So we hoped that tow-truck number two would have some kind of better services. Meh is all I can really say. Tow truck guys are strange in my opinion, but that's being a lady... I am sure their job sucks, and isn't the most eventful. This guy didn't really communicate what needed to be done on our part when it came to directing the car in the direction to load onto the truck, etc. etc. And some chains should have been tightened up a bit because the car almost made a nice nose dive right into the garage door when we got it back to his place. The guy was fairly gentle with the car considering that thing is like my friend's baby but definitely could have used some better precautions or at least communication skills would have been a start... I have nothing to compare the tow-truck too... It's not easy to review, but in my opinion, "meh" 2 stars. read more

I used this two company two weeks ago on the advice of my mechanic. I gave them my credit card info and the driver apparently wrote the numbers down incorrectly. The customer service rep called me and insisted on taking my credit card number over the phone, or I had to drive to their office and hand them cash. I explained my car is still not working and I won't be able to drive there anytime soon, and they declared they would put a lien on my car. Assholes. read more

Tony, you are an awesome dude. I had the worst day in a long time today. I was dealt the "your transmission is fucked" blow on my one and only daily driver. To make things worse I work in Mira Mesa and live in the desert so I'm legit 80 miles from home. Anyhoo- the mechanic sent Tony to pick up my truck. He made room for me and my husband and he drove us to the Hertz(loaner car) location before he dropped of my truck so that we made it before closing time. Unfortunately, we realized that my Father probably could not use his credit card over the phone to pay for my rental car BUT Tony came back to check on us and offered to drive us all the way back to my Husband's job site which helped us tremendously. My Father reamed me on the phone. He really hurt my feelings and Tony told me to stop crying. He really helped me. I can't explain it. His compassion really helped me. Tony went above and beyond. Tony really cared and put effort into helping us, especially me, in my total hot mess express meltdown. I called to get my car towed and I had a good experience. The driver did take an hour but he informed me that before and I said I was ok with it. My vehicle is lowered and I had two flat tires. Broke down in BUSY Hillcrest while taking my wife out to lunch. We were stuck in a super small parking lot on University and 4th behind the sandwich place. We only had an hour to get from hillcrest to Spring Valley to pick up our kid from school so when the car wouldnt start we thought we would never make it. We were totally wrong, the guy (who I dont remember what his name was) was very nice. He showed up within 15 min and fit the flat bed in the tiny parking lot with ease. He wasted no time hooking us up and getting outa there. Even with construction lane closures and traffic he had us outa there ASAP! Don't use them. Call them and told me it was 58 dollar for the 5 miles tow. Then after the tow the driver charges an extra 10 for labor. Will never use them again. read more

I've used Two Bit Tow several times over the years for the tow, vehicle unlock, and more. They were recommended to me and my family by our mechanic. It is true that they do take a long time to get there, but they always inform you of that beforehand. I made a call to them first thing this morning to unlock my car and they said it would take 45 minutes for the guy to get there. It was annoying to know that it would take that long, but when he got there he worked fast. The man who came to my assistance took no more than 10 minutes to open my car and get my keys out. Two Bit Tow has "Independent Operators". We have used the "Independent Operator" many times in the Clairmont area who was wonderful. We had Two Bit Two called to our home by a family friend to pick up his vehicle from our property. The "Independent Operator" came through our gate without checking his mirrors and nearly ripped in from the hinges. The gate is large and it was completely ruined. The "Independent Operator" in the East County area that did the damage, was unapologetic and even arrogant when I confronted him about his running through the gate, we even had to call the police to take a report! At the end of the day, the owners of two bit tow took no responsibility and refused to even help pay for the gate repairs. I will NEVER use this company again! Buyer beware! read more

Tweakers!!! the guys that picked me up had a syringe in the ashtray. A smashed in dashboard and a screwdriver in the ignition they told me it would take about an hour to get to me it took them almost 2 hours then they couldn't get the trailer to work or the wench ... worst experience I've ever had. And I had to move before I could write a review so that they wouldn't come to where I dropped my car off I was that afraid. Be careful with this company. I'm an automotive tech, and the shop I work at uses two bit tow. So when I had a problem with my car I called them to get towed to my shop. They jacked the price up during the first phone conversation. It ended up being cheaper to use a different tow company, that has real tow trucks not old beat up trucks with even more beat up trailers. I bet they scam people all the time. However all their drivers are always very nice, just seams that their management is crooked. read more

The cost was very reasonable and no funny business, the rate was exactly what they quoted over the phone. My wife and I TRIED to contact this company for a tow last night. It took over an hour before we finally got a call back. The driver explained that his winch was "broken" and so he was "down" for the right. I talked to a lady this morning, and she said there is only ONE DRIVER on duty after 10:00 PM. I told her I was surprised that they had no provisions for backup if someone has a truck or trailer issue. I was also informed that the drivers are all independents, and that is why there is no backup or a spare vehicle for the times when only ONE driver is available. As a result we can't say how well they might have done for us, but I would say this: during the day they MAY be a good, cheaper alternative, but after 10:00 PM, you may find yourself unable to get a tow from these people. read more

The driver was very rude who came to tow my beloved PT Cruiser. Bad-mouthed AAA the whole time he was hooking up my car. I'm not sure this is the correct Two Bit Tow, but he said it is a large company and that they are better than AAA. We had no choice as the shop that the car was being towed to uses this company. I am fairly new to San Diego and explained to the dimwit who answered the phone that I ran out of gas off the 163 South at exit 1B; that there was no shoulder and that it was extremely dangerous! Instead of googling my exact location she proceeded to argue about how she couldn't send a driver up and down the 163 to look for me. "163 South, Exit 1B, off the ramp" What else do you need? First, we were promised to only pay so much, next the driver took a longer way to the shop which made our ticket go up. When we arrived at the destination, I greeted the older Caucasian gentleman who towed my car but he just blankly stared at me and didn't respond as if I had done something wrong. I could've sworn they may have scratched the car but I don't want to blame them if that wasn't them. I was referred from the mechanic fixing my car. I gave 4 stars is because the owner, whom I spoke to later, made up for what happened earlier that day. I called around 1, a woman answered and said call after 4, she had no tow trucks available. I asked if she could recommend someone because I wanted to get my car down before they closed. No luck with the number she gave. So I called after 4, a and the owner was unaware I had called and was under the impression the day wasn't busy. Anyhow the price also goes up after 4. This really upset me considering I was quoted 35.00 $ to pick up and 3.50 per mile. After 4 it's 45.00 and 4.50 per mile. The auto shop was less then 2 miles away so I ended up paying more. It was 55 altogether. He called me later to say delivery of the car was done with no problems. What the heck I'll give him 5 stars read more

I used this tow company when I was stranded thank god they were available. first I called a few other tow companies and either they had prices there were unreasonable or they were confused about the location imagine that, But when I called two bit tow #46 The guy knew exactly how to get to me. and the prices were great, When the driver arrived he was courteous and had knowlege of using the right tools to lift my car (which is important to me) In a nutshell I received great service and paid a reasonable rate. i used two bit towing today and had a relatively good experience. they were faster than they quoted and cheaper than most places i looked up. however, when the guy came to my house he rang the doorbell repeatedly about 9 or 10 times. it wasn't even like it had been a while and no one had answered it was 9 or 10 times in 4 or 5 seconds. dogs went crazy i answered the door and he said "if you give me $60 ill give you your car" when he realized that i've been under the weather all day and the excessive ringing didn't help my headache at all he said "ew don't get me sick". older gentleman with white hair. just be professional and respectful. read more

I meant to do this sooner but I wanted to leave a comment about the service I recieved not too long ago. Tony, the gentleman who helped me, did a beyond amazing service that day. He was near where I was so he decided to help me so not only did he assist me right away I only wait 10 minutes for him to get where I was. He was so patient because unforetunely my car broke down on base and he waited with me. His costumer service was fantastic especially since he was so patient to wait for an escort to my car on base. He was very generous as well to give me pointers about my truck and not only that was very kind to give me a place to get an affordable battery.
