I had a fuel line that needed to be replaced immediately, I brought my BMW to a couple other shops both said fuel pump went out without really inspecting the issue. I brought my car to Brothers and he said it was a $50 fuel line hose. He could have been like the others and said it was the fuel pump and screwed me over but he was honest and in return he made a long term client. Thanks for your honesty. I brought my truck here because I was having brake problems. $800 later the problem wasn't fixed. I came to discover he's not good at diagnosing problems. He takes guesses and keeps charging you. I had to take my truck to a different mechanic. He's 20 miles down the road but he's worth it. He looks into it before he makes a call. Totally overcharged me -- I'm assuming because I'm a young woman. I was quoted $300 for a new starter and a $170 for labor by Two Brothers. I asked around and the mechanic down the street told me he could do the same thing at $150 for a starter with a lifetime warranty and a $100 for the labor. Luckily, I called the mechanic down the street before saying yes to Two Brothers. When I confronted them about the price difference, they said they could "work with me," and offered me lower prices. That's ridiculous. Don't quote people really high prices if it's not required and then cut your labor price in half when I realize that you are overcharging me. I've gotten my oil changed here for the past 5 months at $35 a change and I don't know if that is even a fair price now. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

Got into a fender bender after Christmas 2011 and took my car to Two Brothers to get it fixed. The car is old so I didn't want to pay for a new front bumper and just asked them to fix it and make it look good. The previous shop I took my car to wouldn't do it. Two brothers took the job and did a great job with the car. They were honest with what they can accomplish, we discussed the price ahead of time, and the car was fixed as discussed. I've been a customer for about a year now. Nice neighborhood service shop. I've been here 2 times already (for a tune up and oil change) after they changed the management and in both times they asked me questions about how they were doing and told me about how they want to keep increasing their customer satisfaction. they have a very friendly and helpful staff. The oil change here was cheaper than mainstream places for my car, and they don't try to impose things you don't need on your car like it happened to me at other places. STAY AWAY! I've gone here numerous times for various things. The work is average at best. Today, I went for an oil change and a smog check, which they told me they could handle since the place is NEXT DOOR. At the end, they tried to overcharge me $25 for the smog check and didn't expect me to notice. When I confronted them, the claimed they had to wait with the car 10 FEET AWAY and that's the charge! If this is how they treat a repeat customer, god help you if you're new business. PS: I did NOT pay their overcharged price and they have lost a customer. read more

It definitely felt like these guys had no idea what was going on with my car (which was fair -- they were the third mechanics I'd brought it to because my car wasn't storing the codes, so it's a real hard problem to diagnose), but instead of saying that to me, they just fixed SOMETHING. Now I'm out 125 bucks, but with a new ignition relay. When my car broke down again literally the next day, the first mechanic I called said "oh, there's no WAY it could have been the ignition relay." It would've been cool if they were up front with me about not knowing what was going on. Just a huge let down. read more

I'm not qualified to review a mechanic beyond "my car works" and "they seem nice." However, I brought my car, a 2000 Toyota Avalon, to these guys before getting it smog checked. Then I brought it to a smog check guy (not the one nearby). Unprompted, the smog check guy noticed I had work done on the car and said they did an excellent job. He thought I brought it to the dealer and seemed genuinely impressed. Juan was the guy I worked with, I think. As mentioned in the other reviews, customer service is excellent: helpful, honest, friendly. They are also part of some website which, if you sign up, tracks the service done and scheduled maintenance of your car, which I thought was kind of neat. read more

Straight forward mechanics who do the job well and at a fair price. I have known Juan and his brother for some time now. After my family mechanic finally closed up shop, I was in need of a trusted mechanic. There are 2 praises that the people should know about Brothers Auto: 1. Juan the owner--Juan is old school; committed to customer service, his reputation, and the reputation of his business. He knows that word-of-mouth is the most important thing and he ensures that customers have positive experiences. 2. Ken the Manager--Ken is a great mechanic and businessman. He specializes in parts so he can find quality components while not having to pay top dollar for them. That's a gift, because a lot of auto repair places keep prices down by using refurbished/crappy replacement parts. All the work he did on my car was explained clearly and done quickly. Even when a few extra things came up, he stood by his work and fixed them free of charge. This place uses quality parts, has great mechanics, and runs a customer oriented business. Everything is fair, so don't expect to get $1500 worth of parts and labor for $400. But do expect your car to get done up the right way, the first time. read more

I called the shop up about 30 minutes before they closed on a Friday not expecting much, but they told me to come right in and that they would help me out. The bolts on my license plate were stripped and I had just gotten new plates and didn't have the tools to replace it. They were happy to help and the service was quick and easy. NO STARS. These guys royally screwed over my b/f. Juan Rivas and his sidekick Alex are terrible businessmen. 10 months after my b/f got an engine installed into his vehicle by them, it busts. And they won't fix it. Why? B/c they "forgot" to WRITE in the 3month warranty on the paperwork my b/f signed. He signed one saying 12months. They don't care. Now we are car-less. RIP-OFF! Very dishonest, I once took my car for brake service, they were supposed to replace my rotars which I questioned if they had ever been replaced! I purposely had the two brothers test my alternator, they told my that my alternator was no good. Anybody with some car knowledge knows that a bad alternator will kill your battery in a matter of hours yet my car continued to run for months & months, and it never gave out! That proved to me what I had already suspected that they lie & rip off their customers! STAY AWAY! Yelp is forcing me to give them a star! They don't deserve any stars! read more

I liked that the guy in charge...was that Juan?...and Caesar (spelling?)...were easy to communicate with and stuck to the price quoted. Beware: I'd visited 2 places before. I just saw Two Brothers sign in passing (north side of Venice Blvd., east of Sepulvida). If you're dealing with the smog / passing / repair quagmire...there's enough "b.s." in the fees which I was quoted such that they ranged from $20-$40 apart. I think (?)--'not sure because one place was an Oriental gentleman (west side of Lincoln / btn. Rose & Washington) who couldn't communicate into the subtleties of the language. So...Two Brothers COULD have hit me with an additional $8 fee or the $15 fee or the $20 engine cover removal fee BUT did not, when it came time to pay exactly what they'd quoted. Incidentally....if you happen to have a van...the size of the van (mine is smaller than many cars) ... could make it be called a truck--or not-- ... taking the engine cover off yourself could save you $20--or not. I'm not too proud to propose a cash discount too vs. using my credit card (that'll cost vendors, what? 3-5%)? ... but couldn't get to that level of communicating with the 2 other places. The first was Complete Automotive, 9030 National Blvd., Venice where the guy gave me the impression I should be honored to take ...as little time as humanely possible... communicating any damned thing with him. (I'd received this from him on a separate occasion before; I've done lots of mechanical work on cars & trucks--not transmission-rebuilding-detailed--but enough so's to know whereof I & others are speaking--if they can or will talk.) I have taken my car to Two Brothers twice now and their service was excellent. I had an oil change as well as a brake job both front and rear. I had them check the rotors and we realized they were just out of spec and decided to replace them. The time it took to do the work was fast as well as the pricing was very good. I have been building and working on cars for years but decided it was time to no longer make a mess in my garage and knowing my way around a car, I felt the guys knew what they were doing and did it well. The worst mechanic shop in my opinion as they really can't fix any mechanical issues for the car!! I went to change the Rack N Pinion for my car and the Nightmare started as soon as they changed it! The car started to make noises on the left and right side during turns. I was told that the rack n pinion was defective and they replaced it and the noise never went away. Then they told me the pump needs to be replaced and I took the bad advise and the problem never went away! I drove the car for a while as they had instructed and now the car which never had any problems until now is stalling with the steering wheel not moving! They told me that the noise was now coming from somewhere else and another part needs to be changed now! I got the car diagnosed from Nissan and Firestone and they informed me that the parts he put in were used/defective ones!! I need to replace it again!! ALREADY I HAD PAID THEM CLOSE TO $1,000 FOR THESE PARTS!! The issue is that Juan, the owner, has no mechanical knowledge about cars and they are all guessing with regards to the issues for clients!! STAY AWAY AS I WAS GIVEN A WARRANTY OF 12,000 MILES AFTER THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND MY CAR HAS STALLED NOW AT LESS THAN 2500 MILES WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES!! I truly believe they cannot do anything well except for a simple OIL AND TIRE CHANGE! Now, as others have mentioned here, I have to take the legal route to get my money back and report them to the proper authorities due to their pathetic workmanship and negligence!! Finally, do not go to this shop for anything for your car as you will end up with serious issues with your car!! read more
