I always get their sausages for grilling out. Great stuff! And today Saturday April 11, 2014 I was so happy they had their smoker out and selling BBQ. But I was really disappointed at the portions of the BBQ sandwich (pulled pork) years prior they'd give you plenty of pork, enough to make two sandwiches almost. But today it was barely an ice-cream scooper full, barely enough for one sandwich. You almost couldn't taste the BBQ past the humongous buns. Oh, prices went also. Two fat Butchers had some pretty interesting cuts of meat. I came in because I was looking to find out about purchasing bison (buffalo) meat for a frend of mine. The owner took some time to come out of the back (where he had been cutting and wrapping delicious looking cuts of beef) and answer some of my questions. I was impressed by his knowledge, and the variety offered: veal, elk, bison, alligator, frog legs, etc. I was not in to make a purchase, but he still took the time to discuss various parts of the business with me. This place is awesome. We got a New York Strip and T-bone steak, they also had the biggest potatoes I have ever seen for baking, can't say enough about the place. First time ever going to a actual butchers to get my steaks but won't be the last time! read more

We purchased one of the weekly packs and it was a great value. The staff has been friendly and the prices are good. Ordered by phone with no problems. I was able to substitute the bacon as we has plenty in the freezer. Reminds me of what a town butcher should be. The place is very clean and doesn't smell like a meat department. It has become our staple place for meat. read more

We went there to get our Valentines dinner to cook at home to save money as they had a sale on the filet mignon. I was very disappointed on the amount of fat they contained. I have never had a fatty filet and was very disappointed. read more

We couldn't decide what to eat after our nature walk. We passed the two Fat butchers who were BBQing outin the street and the meet smelled heavenly. We ordered the two butchers Special: half a a rack of ribs, half a chicken and a BBQ sandwich with two sodas and chips for $20! The chicken was off the hook. We sat in the back of the truck and ate outside. The butchers asked us how our meal was, very friendly guys. We will definitely stop here again on our next adventure to the Shenandoah valley. read more

The best meats around! Prices are comparable or better than Costco/grocery stores. The guys are friendly and will cut you a steak to your liking if requested. Need holiday meat? Placing the order, easy as pie......selection of meat, A1...pricing, fabulous...packages, spot on for budget....customer service, crap crap crap..... after driving an hour and a half (3 hours round trip), with my friend and 4 of our kids, to the "famous" two fat butchers...we arrived home with our packages with 2 perfect orders and 1 incorrect order. The lady had explained the packages and which one was "regular" and which one was "special" so we took her at her word, paid, loaded up and headed back home....we certainly should have checked because the "regular" purchase was incomplete. I phoned them and explained and was told "oh, i'm sorry...they must have misread what i wrote..." when i asked for a discount or a compensation of ANY kind to off set the disatisfaction, she simply said NO we DO NOT do that...and further stated that we should not have asked for any substitutions to begin with .... Big fan... Drive from Winchester just to visit the store... Best homemade sausages I've had since mom's and she's from Iowa... Must try the house special... Bacon in a sausage... Duhhhh... I don't go ga-ga for barbecue, but this was yum! The brisket was really tender, the ribs--which I'm not normally a fan of--are REALLY good! Prices are great. And the jerky in the store...especially the "hot"...totally addictive! Perfect spice and texture! Worth the hour+ drive, IMO. Friendly atmosphere, too. read more

We stopped on Saturday when there is a smoker going at the front of the parking lot. We got 2 half chickens that were wrapped in heavy foil and then headed to the picnic area at Dickey Ridge Visitor Center on Skyline Drive. The chicken was perfect, moist, lots of sauce to mop up with the meat, tasty, skin that was crisp enough to eat, and well worth the $5 a half. Try it! read more

The barbecue they sell out front is phenomenal. The smoked chicken is possibly the best we've ever had. We go out of our way to plan a day that involves picking their BBQ up to go and taking it to Shenandoah River State Park or Shenandoah National Park. They had these gigantic beef hot dogs in the case that were AMAZING when we charcoal grilled them. Potato salad and pulled pork were so-so. The BBQ chicken and ribs in the parking lot are decent but they are missing good veggie options to sell with them. If you want meat and potato chips, they have you covered though. Skip the sandwiches in back of the store at the counter and go next door to Crazy Carl's for delicious sub sandwiches. Get your hot dogs here at Two Fat Butchers though! read more

Been going here for years to get our meat, milk and eggs. Quality meats and comparable prices with friendly helpful staff. A great deal is the packets and the chicken salad they make is an awesome picnic sandwich with their thin sliced provolone cheese. Recently was in a hurry and bought dinner meat from a regular store. Family was sick for days. Lesson learned!! read more

I will start by saying that they served me the worst briskett i ever ate in my life. it was warmed up leftovers and i know because we all know what leftover meat taste like. if i lived closer than 3 hrs away i would have thrown it at them. We ate it and had to travel. We also bought ribs. they were not cooked through, red at bone. they did not fall off the bone, you had to jew and rip to get it seperated. I dont know what people in Front Royal think that good bbq is but if you ate at my house you would never eat that crap again. read more

What a bunch of dirt bags. I have done business with these guys for over 3 years now. I average ABOUT $150 TO $200 EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS IN BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS. Starting about mid-July 2014 I called and asked for 20 T-Bone/Porterhouse steaks. I offered to give them a credit card number to make sure they were ready. I get there on Saturday and I am told, "oh sorry, were cutting deer meat, we can't do your meat until Monday"...The party is Sunday, I buy my meat at Martin's. A few months later I call again and same story when I get there. It is now December 31, 2014, I call at about 1200 hours and ask if I can pickup 20 porterhouse steaks that afternoon. I am told no sorry, we are closing early, but we can have them ready Friday. I told them I will come into town at 1700 hours. I offer my credit card number and told the guy on the phone it is VERY IMPORTANT I get these Friday. I am told no problem you can walk right in and the meat will be ready. I get there at 1700 hours on Friday and the idiot that owns the place says, "no sorry, we can't cut your steaks, we are cutting deer meat now and the law will not allow us to cut the two different meats". Well...I am NEVER going back to these people again...WTF. I had purchased their t-shirts and let my 10 year old kid do advertising with the shirts on MY Dime. Their motto is "No One Can Beat Our Meat"...the truth is " they are too busy beating their own meat to take care of their customers...If you need to count on these stupid ignorant butchers ...don't count on them. I would rather buy meat from Walmart than give them another dime of my money. read more

whats up two fat butchers you guys rock and i mean rock. you guys blow away any grocery store for meat by far and also have cut up well over 20 deer for me and it was great but all 20 were great shots so i know approximately how much meat i was getting in return. i know from experience in cutting up deer when people bring them in shot to hell and back you don't get all what you think your going to get period. if you think you are you are a dumb ass. anyway you guys are great and i cant not believe people would say anything about your business because i have never seen anything wrong it always been a great experience as well as my friends that use you guys as well.
