This is it! This is my favorite ice cream shop so far in the NW burbs! This is the fourth one that we've found and easily the best of all four. Finally, I don't have to drive all the way to Uptown or to St. Paul to get some fresh home-made-style ice cream. The flavors and the buying forms (traditional cones, funky cones, cakes, small containers, ice cream sandwiches, etc.) are fantastic. Again, a bunch of teenagers behind the counter. The only reason that Two Scoops gets four stars instead of five is that they don't have cold water to drink. For some reason, I always like a glass of water after ice cream and they just have tap water. (Updated 8/24/2015 in case the owner is reading: I got a glass of water yesterday and it was at least 90 degrees F--I could almost have made tea in it!) A strange omission. However, the ice cream is very good (except for the black licorice flavor, which may be really good, but I am incapable of appreciating it). They have some kind of deal where for $38 you get to have a scoop of every flavor and some toppings, and if you finish it, it's free. They claim never to have had to refund anyone on it. This is good enough ice cream that my wife an I go occasionally even in the winter. In Minnesota. Also, their ice cream cakes? Amazing. And that's coming from someone that would rather skip dessert than have an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. They'll make them to order from any of their flavors, with a variety of crust options (read: I forget what the crust options are). Go here... Often. The ice cream is LUDICROUSLY good, but it's the staff that makes the place. All are high school/college age kids who are in a perpetual good mood, and it just sets the atmosphere for a perfect neighborhood ice cream shop. Don't hesitate to talk with the other customers, as everyone in the place seems to be very friendly each time I'm there. Quick tip: they'll let you taste any flavor before buying it. The ice cream is hard packed Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream from Wisconsin (i.e., not made on site or locally) but don't let that deter you from having some tasty ice cream. It's really nice to see a small independent location in Anoka. read more

Always nice to see a new family owned/operated shop open. We've been served by the owner each time we go. He's friendly and appreciative that we came in. I think there are about 16 flavors to choose from and the flavors seem to change every couple of days. Some of our family favorites are Zanzibar (dark chocolate), Rocky Road (heavy on the marshmallow swirl just how I like it), and New York Cherry. The shop has a small seating area in the front with a couple of tables. They also have a freezer with ice cream in small containers if you'd rather pick some up to take home for later. They used to be awesome. I went a while back and the employee didn't have gloves on and it seem a bit unsanitary. I also found a long hair in my ice cream and was really grossed out. The best ice cream in the area. The workers are kind and always willing to let me try a half dozen samples before I chose a flavor. The workers are quick and there is never a line. The ice cream is very rich and creamy. There are many choices of favors that can be chose from to make a shake or malt. I usually just opt for a scoop in a cone. I started coming here last summer with my girlfriend after our dinners and have been a regular customer ever since. We just really love it. The owners (a husband & wife) make a great team. after one failed attempt to visit this place we finally made it on our second try...they have a lot of fun flavors and i cant wait to try them all...i got the Green Tea Ice Cream...I've had a lot of green tea ice cream but havent been able to find one with the perfect creamy texture (they are usually a bit icy for some reason)...this place had the perfect texture...i think it could use a bit more of the green tea flavor because after a few spoons it almost tastes like a sweet cream ice cream...they can turn any ice cream they have into a malt or shake...we tried the cherry malt...if you're a fan of Maraschino cherries you'll love it because thats exactly what it tastes like...if you're expecting a more natural cherry flavor, this is not for you...the best flavor we tried was the salted caramel ice cream, with cashews...its either called This Just Got Serious or Things Just Got Serious...it was the perfect balance of sweet and salty with the faintest hint of bitter at the end (like from coffee/espresso) that was amazing...if i can remember the name i'll update the review...looking forward to trying other of their flavors read more

Two Scoops is definitely a favorite staple stop for anyone visiting the Downtown Anoka area! The ice cream is simply delicious, and the staff are so sweet... we stopped by there to get a treat for a toddler who was very excited to get to the bottom of her ice cream bowl. But about halfway through, she realized her ice cream didn't come in a cone. She LOVES the cone! And every 3-year old should have a cone, so I went back into the line. The sweetheart behind the counter brought a cone out, "on the house" and gave her the biggest smile ever! I love that it's handmade ice cream! It's a super cute little shop. I got the green tea flavor with a small waffle cone. My friend got the coconut one, we were both happy with our choices. Two Scoops is a new Ice Cream shop in downtown Anoka and about as good as it gets. They specialize in quality hard ice cream and they know what they're doing. Owned by a husband and wife (and they have one of their kids working for them).... it's the best malt I've found close to home! Owners are super nice and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and let you try each flavor of ice cream! Yum! Any place with Madison Chocolate Shoppe ice cream earns high marks in my book. Two Scoops has an impressive selection of both traditional and inventive flavors. I chose the munchie madness and chocolate raspberry truffle. Munchie madness is one of the only ice creams I've eaten that effectively uses salted carmel. Delish! Portion size was ok for the price. The place itself was quaint but not particularly memorable and had no outdoor seating. But, the ice cream was great so I'll be back! read more

Id say the ice cream was pretty good but the experience and place itself was a let down. The workers there had terrible customer service like when I came in with a friend they just stood there looking annoyed and stared till we had our ice cream picked out. When I payed for the cones, the worker throws the receipt at me and walks away... yea not cool. The place was nothing special. This is a fabulous ice cream shop! It's tucked a little bit back off of Main St, so you have to look for it, but you'll be happy you did once you try the ice cream! The staff is so friendly and helpful.. We told them it was our first time and he kept handing us samples. Their flavors were outstanding and different. We liked them all, but picked Scotch Ale Caramel Crunch in a pretzel cone. Yes, it was slightly beer flavored and delicious! The man at the counter told us they have a 100+ flavor rotation of this delicious ice cream from Madison, WI. There are a few cute places to walk in Anoka and enjoy a cone on a hot summer night. Great ice cream but the service left a lot to be desired. I went there specifically to buy the "This Just Got Serious" flavor ice cream. We had tried it in a restaurant and it is fabulous and unique. They did not have it as they rotate their flavors. However when I asked when they would get it in they were very rude in their response. Acted like they were doing me a favor to wait on me and I was a bother by asking questions. The help looked like high school kids that would have rather been anywhere else but working. It is too bad as the product is great but the service experience took the fun out of a trip to the ice cream parlor. read more

After looking for a local ice cream parlor, 2 Scoops was prevalent in good reviews, so we decided to give it a go. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the great selection, very generous portions (i.e. 1 scoop really equals 2), and friendly service. Additionally, as we were eating our ice cream outside, the presumed owner stopped by and mentioned how grateful he was for our patronage and would love to see us visit again. Admittedly, I was afraid to do so, but I went back here again as this is the closest place with real ice cream. I was pleased! The two employees there were very friendly and willing to assist, and ice cream tasted great. Waffle cone was not the best (didn't taste fresh so not sure if they make their own), but glad they have options. Maybe my previous review helped made their customer service better. Best ice cream in town- they always seem to have new and different flavors. I've been here several times and I've always been impressed. Pretty sure the owners have helped me out several times, and they've always been so nice. They really do seem to care about their customers. and that's something that's a bit lacking in a lot of places these days. I'll keep going to Two Scoops as long as they have ice cream (especially the Zanzibar- never stop serving the Zanzibar!). :) read more
