Our server, Lauren (Jacksonville, Fl.) Was great. She made excellent suggestions and was extremely knowledgeable with regard to the menu. Our appetizer, Salmon Chips was a great suggest suggestion and the salmon was well seasoned on a homemade potato chip. The main courses, brisket and trout were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The portions were plentiful and we left with lunch. Though I was far too stuffed to eat dessert, they gave me a chocolate cup cake for later. Additionally, they gave us complimentary champagne and I received a birthday card signed by the restaurant staff. We went to Brunch on Mother's Day and due to a lack of availability, we went to Two Urban Licks, which still had quite a few openings. We had never been to the restaurant. There were 3 of us - we ordered two Mushroom Quiche, Country Fried Steak Biscuit, and an order of Banana Bread French Toast for all to share. The Mushroom Quiche was average - it was small, the baked egg custard with the mushrooms tasted fine, however, the pastry was thick and soggy - I ate the custard, but left most of the pastry shell. The Country Fried Streak, looked so appetizing, unfortunately, it was very difficult to eat - the fried coating was not crispy, but had a 'hard crunch', and the steak was chewy and tough. My partner left most of it on the plate. Last, the Banana Bread French Toast we shared. It tasted good - we had the strawberry compote and the whipped cream on the side. I came here for Saturday brunch and it was a great time! The space is huge and has outdoor and indoor seating and a bar area as well. The food was solid, we ordered the shrimp appetizer which was delicious and cooked perfectly. The spicy Caesar salad was a good accompaniment to the other dishes. The collard greens were big and had a lot of meat in it which was good. The highlight was the fried jerk chicken sandwich - it was very creative and included plantains inside the sandwich which was a nice sweet touch to really elevate the flavors. They always offer meat, fish, and poultry options, which is great because it provides variety. Although their menu isn't large, they do have a good selection. One of my top recommendations is the salmon chips, which are a signature and popular item. The in-house potato chips are paired with a flavorful spread, possibly an aïoli or cream cheese, and complemented by smoked salmon, creating an excellent appetizer that I highly endorse. On two occasions, I have enjoyed trout prepared in distinct styles, both of which were excellent. Most recently, I tried the Blue Ridge trout served with Parmesan risotto, which I found outstanding--the risotto was perfectly executed. The trout had crisp skin and was served with fried okra; I chose not to have the okra, but the rest of the dish was well-balanced and thoughtfully composed. For dessert, we enjoyed a cake reminiscent of apple pie, served with what the server described as vanilla gelato. It was truly exceptional. She also didn't have the first drink I ordered as they ran out, and then forgot my other drink, so I didn't drink, no problem. I went here for a book club brunch with a group of about 8 people. I appreciated that they had a valet or self park option, valet being my choice due to the convenience. After walking in, the front room is captivating with the sunlight coming through, and the host stand had two ladies welcoming everyone. We let them know the reservation and were immediately guided to our table toward the middle of the restaurant. The main dining area of the restaurant was extremely dark. We ordered appetizers and drinks to begin with. I ordered the Good Thyme Lemon Drop and for apps we got the Salmon Chips, Brisket and Chicken Empanadas, and the Salt & Pepper Calamari. All the appetizers tasted amazing, but the portion size of there empanadas was disappointing, with one serving being singular empanada cut in half. From the Brunch Special section of the menu, my friend and I split the Smoked Brisket Hash. The plate was presented in a disarray, we asked for scrambled eggs and still ended getting a poached egg hidden underneath other components on the plate, and altogether the dish was flavorless. Although we had two main servers, there were about 4 other workers that approached our table, which was very overwhelming and confusing. One redeeming quality was that they have a QR code to scan on the table that has an itemized list of the orders, allowing the bill to be easily split. The restaurant is conveniently located on the beltline so I would definitely suggest to take advantage of their outdoor seating. At the recommendation of a friend who used to live in Atlanta, I came here for brunch when I was in town. Thankfully, my friend has great taste. Over the weekend, I was on an octopus kick so I started out with some calamari at brunch. Admittedly an unusual choice, but it was the right one. For my entree, I had the brisket hash. The brisket was cooked optimally and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly. Unfortunately I was too full to finish it all, but the brisket kept well and made for a great early morning snack before I had to catch a flight. Okay, so I'm on a kick to try #New(ToMe)RestaurantsOnly ! I've been having fantastic experiences going in largely blind to new places-- that I at least generally know/ have heard good things about! Two Urban Licks was one of those places. With a reputation that precedes it and an extremely-difficult-to-get-into Reservation spot, I've been wanting to try it for years. My overarching takeaway was.... It's expensive and good. The atmosphere is the best part in my opinion. It's vibrant, indoor-outdoory, spacious and intimate at the same time-- all the characteristics you'd want from a nice restaurant off of the Belt line. I think the best occasion here would be a larger-group dinner or festivity. They seemed well-equipped to handle that, and the menu is wide-ranging and pretty straightforward! In terms of the food, we tried the "most popular starter" the Salmon Chips. They were unique but I wanted something different. Its four chips with "dip-like" material piled on top. I wish there were more chips and less dip per chip-- such that it didn't snap in half by picking it up. It also feels like then, it'd be more shareable. For entrees we got Brisket and Trout. We both agreed that we'd try something different next time. My trout felt like it had competing flavors that I couldn't quite place but didn't feel normal to eat with Trout. I went to this place a few years ago and it was one of the best meals I've had in ATL. Last night though was not the same. The special was coconut shrimp which didn't taste fresh (possibly frozen). We also got the smoked salmon chips which were mediocre at best, pretty bland. Our entries tasted ok but nothing was delicious. It was all very mediocre. Nothing was bad enough to send back but nothing made us go "mmmmm that's good!". For the money they charge, everything should be amazing. Decided to have brunch at Two Urban Link and I think it's safe to say I'll be back. I loved everything about my experience, from the hostess' s up front to the scenery of the belt line in the back. We came on Saturday afternoon and surprisingly it wasn't too packed. We Ubered because I know how traffic is around the Beltline, but we were greeted with smiling faces who sat us quickly. We opted for the empanada over the salmon chips (I'll be back to try those for sure!) & it was delicious! The setting was the same hipster chic that we both remembered as we have been to the restaurant for over 10 years plus. We started off with a couple of martini's and while they were good we were surprised that no blue cheese olives available for a $15 drink. We started with the salmon chips and they were the star of the show no doubt. The Mrs ordered the scallops, they lacked enough sear but were presented nicely on black lentils. I had the "butcher" steak, asked the waiter what cut it was and he replied something from the neck area. I think it was teres major as it was leaner than a hangar steak. It was cooked nicely and was flavorful. We had an Oregon Pinot which was served too warm in my opinion. I took my partner out on a dinner date this past Friday to one of our favorite spots, Two Urban Licks. We had a late, 10:15pm reservation, but in my experience, they are always super accommodating and never make me feel rushed to leave. Heads up, we were the last people left and although I rushed myself to get out of there because I know how the server life is, the staff were nothing but accommodating. Now, let's go over what we ordered and our ratings! Salmon Chips 10/10: a must get everytime I go! Healthy amount of salmon on each chip and the capers always add the perfect salty touch Brisket Empanada: 8/10, definitely a tasty bite and empanada is chunky! Chipotle crema was delicious. Farmer Britt's Okra: 9/10, slightly salty but come on, a chicken fried split okra? Where could you really go wrong. Wood Fired Rotisserie Chicken w/ Mac & Cheese: 8/10, huge cut of chicken which is a plus but the natural jus/seasoning was lacking slightly. Not really strong flavors in any direction.I don't eat many Mac & cheese recipes, but Two Urban makes a nice, white cheese based Mac that is very rich. A few bites is more than enough, but it did assist the chicken where it was a little dull. I recently visited Two Urban Licks for the first time, after hearing good things and seeing generally fair reviews. My guests had dined there before, and I was excited to finally try the menu myself. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the anticipation. Everything we ordered--from appetizers to entrees--arrived lukewarm, which was especially disappointing for dishes like calamari that should be served hot and crisp. While the calamari still had good flavor, the temperature really detracted from the dish. I ordered trout with risotto; it was decent, but not memorable. They were out of okra, so I was served deep-fried asparagus instead, which was fine, but again, just okay. The space itself is impressive--spacious, with ample seating and a nice open wood-grill area that adds visual interest to the dining experience. Outdoor seating is also available, which is a plus. I tried a mocktail, but it was underwhelming and not something I wanted to finish. On a positive note, our server was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. One major downside: the bathrooms were quite dirty. So much so, in fact, that I chose not to use them. Adding a hook or rack for purses and jackets would be a small but helpful improvement, especially considering the unclean conditions.
