I spent weeks researching someone in the Portland metro area who could take on lifting my natural level 2/3, box dyed hair to a level 6 rich brunette without hesitation, and found Micha. Reading her reviews got me excited, and during our consultation, she explained her enzyme-based lifting process that avoids bleach and keeps hair health intact. She took the time to deeply analyze my hair, and set aside extra time during the appointment to adjust as she went since she was undoing months of box color and old faded highlights. Micha gave me a beautiful, lived-in, blended cinnamon chocolate balayage specifically designed to grow out naturally so I wouldn't need touch-ups every few months. She also did a dry cut using unique techniques I loved. In terms of final styling, I love a full bouncy, smooth blowout with a round brush, and am particular about the technique (needs to be sectioned out fully with each section pulled with a lot of heat and tension), so I did end up restyling it at home to my own liking, but that's just me. What she created with my color and cut though was exactly what I wanted. Beyond her skill, Micha is a true creative, full of spunk and confidence with the wildest stories. If you need things done a very specific way and aren't open to a creative approach, she may not be your person. But she knows exactly what she's doing, and you just need to let her do her thing. NEVER again. The worst professional haircut I've received in years. The stylist cut way too much of my hair while it was wet and it looked egregious when she blowdried it. My hair was long to begin with and I'm shocked that she had an issue styling it the way I requested in the photo I provided. The cut looks nothing like what I wanted but there was obviously nothing I could say to get her to fix it while she was snipping away the excess inches. I left shocked and upset at what he did. Called the next day to let him know I was unhappy and wanted a redo, He had a bad attitude and BUTCHERED my hair. He did not listen he had his own agenda. I have zero clue as to why people post negative reviews on some of these artists, they are all extremely talented and everyone I have come across is so kind. I've been going to Lynne for about 3 years now. This review is long overdue! I am naturally blonde and Lynne does an amazing job with my highlights!! I prefer my long hair and appreciate how much she respects my length when cutting it! Lynne Smith is technically the best technician that has worked on my hair. She has been my hair person for ~9 years. After decades of color and highlights (which she does beautifully) I decided to move to my natural color. Lynne is a master at blending. There was absolutely no unfortunate grow out. Worst haircut I've had in my adult life. I've been going to Mindy for years. I had grown my hair out for two years and had specifically asked her to leave it long. I came out with the worst short, layered haircut that is impossible to style. Even worse, she and the salon owner claimed that they only cut an inch off and said, "you're the one that has to live with it." They didn't even offer to take another look at it or show me how to style it. I demanded my money back (success) and the response from the salon owner was atrocious. I came here as seeing the place had good reviews and the haircuts on the photos were the like I wanted my hair. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. But I was a bit disappointed with my cut. I asked for a butterfly style haircut , short but with layers. I left feeling more like they gave me a bob. The layers are not very defined and I had been working on growing out my bangs but the stylist did a touch up and left me with bangs again. I'm not so picky. **MURRAY HILL MAMAS BEWARE!!** I have sadly I waited 6 years to write this review because I thought I was the problem and I actually felt ASHAMED. I was seeing a stylist who is no longer there and she was also SO overpriced because of location. I get compliments almost daily on my hair NOW and I see one of the best, and most affordable colorists in the area. I had balayage and highlights through this therapist, I had "fashion color," and haircuts. The salon itself never felt particularly welcoming and has a bougie feel qhixh matches their price points. I didn't feel comfortable there but had just moved across country and had to get my hair done. Because I'm a stay at home mom, my kids were with me. Period. And that was never a problem until I saw the owner looking very unhappy when my stylist had let my then 4 year old daughter sweep around her station. Let me be clear, I always was here on a weekday between 10 and 1. When most people are AT work and the salon isn't super busy. I later received a text telling me to find a new stylist because the owner doesn't want me coming back. I asked what I did and she said there are no kids allowed in the salon. I'll be the first to admit when my kids are bad. But they weren't. She was just plain nasty. After I got enough confidence to find someone new I did. And I've been seeing her for 6 years. She has actually complimented me many times on how GOOD my kids are when they had to be with me when they were little. Mamas don't let your hairs be touched by this place!! SO many good salons Southwest of there!! Just for the FYI of the owner I saw Carissa Bennett at your salon. I definitely was a client as I have no reason to make up reviews just to put down a small business. I'm a HUGE supporter of small businesses, especially women owned. And if my child was "in the way, or underfoot," that could have been a quick correction, not a reason to shame someone into going to find a new salon but I'm happy to be going somewhere that does quality color for a much better price.
