My husband stopped by the gas station next door for a soda, but I was absolutely starving (driving from houston to Dallas) and noticed this burger spot right next door. Once hubs secured his soda I asked him if we could grab some grub next door. We went through the drive through and ordered a chicken tenders kids meal which came with 2 tenders, seasoned fries, and a small soda. I also ordered Texas size onion rings as well and the total came to be $12. For the amount of food and money spent we couldn't be happier! Everything was pipping hot. Chicken tenders were big and not dry at all. Fries were solid and seasoned, and those onion rings were amazing!! Ate it all in the car and tbh was so hungry I forgot to take any pictures. Whoops. If I needed a sit down meal break I would highly consider sitting down and trying a burger on my next drive from houston to Dallas! I mean it's called TX burgers so I would like to think the burgers are even better than what I just ordered. I just always prefer finger foods when I eat in the car. Burgers were way overcooked and dried out. Couldn't be overcooked any more than they were. We paid $19 for two burgers and a small order of fries. We called and the manager blamed it on lean meat. Tasted like they had precooked and basically reheated the patty. Next time we are hungry on a road trip we will spend our money at McDonald's!! read more

Horrible customer service- I asked how much the up charge is in the combo from fries to o'rings & was told ten cents- then when I got to the window to pay, the order was almost $15 for one combo that was $10.69 on the menu. Yes I added cheese & yes they charge .60 for ranch which they use the peppercorn from subway & taste like Caesar not ranch. I went inside to exchanged it & she showed me the subway peppercorn ranch - the lady named Jamie at the window drive-thru was raising her voice at me when all I did was ask for the breakdown as I was trying to understand how it came to $15 -she said- breakdown is on the receipt- guess what- it is NOT. I will never recommend or visit this TX Burger again. Crying shame to treat someone this way- horrible experience! We choose the drive thru for a late lunch, on a Friday. We saw the billboards all along 45 S & N and didn't want to eat gas station food so thought why not give this place a shot. The lady tacking our order was very nice. And we asked her what was the best thing to order here. She said any of the TX burgers, so that is what we ordered. Plus the chicken fingers. I didn't try those but the guy who ordered them said they were good. Well I'm very, very glad we did! I will say it's a bit confusing seeing a Subway here as well but we ordered the burgers. TX burger for the most part, dare I say it, is a better Whataburger. And a way, way better burger than you can find on the highway. I have to be honest I was very surprised at how quick and delicious the burger, fries and onion rings were. I did not go into the store so maybe that is why it was so good? Also we were sketch at first because of the lackluster reviews but we wanted something different on our way back to Dallas. The food was great, once all the adjustments were made to the parts that were done wrong. Cheese on my "no cheese please" burger, tomato on my sister's "no tomato please" burger and no cups for the included drinks. Then attitude from the server when I mentioned the cheese, and more when she said all they were going to do was scrape the cheese off and I said if that was all I wanted I could do it myself. When you walk up it's a little confusing because it shows a Subway on the outside of the building as well. Sure enough, both restaurants are in the same building which was nice. At TX Burger we got a 1/3 cheeseburger and a chicken finger basket. The burger was cooked nicely and had a light char. The seasoned fries were good without being overpowering. My niece said the chicken fingers were good and they came with a side of white gravy which was very tasty. This was a nice change from your typical road trip fast food. While the servers were friendly enough, the food was not good and the ambiance was JUST GROSS. While picking at sub par burgers and fries saturated in shiny grease we sat trying not to notice all the dead bugs on the floor, piles of dirt that we can assume someone swept but didn't discard & we dreaded having to use the restrooms. I passed by this place every time I visit my family in Houston, so I decided to hit the drive thru on my drive home. I ordered the # 6 The bacon Tx burger combo. The fries was good and hot, the burger is a disappointment, not only was the bacon missing the burger is so dry and overcooked it felt rubbery I stopped after a couple of bites , what a waste of $10.81. They even have a saying on their drive thru wall. " you can find a cheaper burger but then you gotta eat it" . Next time I will find cheaper burger so I can eat it. read more

The food was good I got the mushroom Swiss burger and it was good, the patty was kinda thin and I barley taste the patty but I can still taste it. A little too much ketchup and was pretty messy. So okay... I was driving to Dallas from Houston today.. and tried to make it to without stopping for food. Clearly I was delusional. Anyway I'm talking to a truck driver friend of mine on the phone and he told me to check out Texas Burger. I said what the heck.. let me go try this out. I'm a sucker for a red and white sign for some reason anyway. So the next exit Texas Burger.. I pulled up to the place it gave me that down home vibe.. which was welcoming... Sometimes that down home look give me the creeps being single, black and in the south.. But this place didn't. It reminded me of my neighborhood growing up as a kid.. Very welcoming. When I get in it was mixed with a subway, a blue bell and texas burger.. One stop shop.. I liked it.. The staff was SOOO friendly, and all female, which was unusual, but delightful.. I ordered.. they gave me a number just like the burger place in my neighborhood growing up.. So i sat the number down and went to the restrooms and washed my hands.. Clean good smelling restrooms.. Kinda drab... but very clean.. I came out and this happy pregnant lady brought me my burger combo.. she was so sweet and had such a great attitude.. You know one of those attitudes that put a smile on your face? That was very refreshing!!! I didn't have a lot of time and didn't plan on eating all of it. (gotta watch my figure, I'm still single). The fries tasted like those cajun fries from popeyes.. u know? DELICIOUS.. The burger was good as well.. I've tasted better but at gourmet places.. This place wasn't a gourmet spot though.. Stopped here on road trip from Dallas. Didn't want the typical fast food. Was a little apprehensive due to the reviews. This place was great. About an 8 minute wait in the drive through (we were the only ones in it). But it's made fresh! Fries SUPER hot and tasty. Burgers hot, buns hot from the grill too. Crispy bacon on the burgers. Found this on a trip back to Houston and wish I had kept driving. I was looking for a non chain restaurant but am pretty sure this is just a chain that shared the space with a subway. I ordered the bacon burger Tx combo. The burger had no flavor and the seasoned fries had no seasoning and were cold. Unfortunately I did not find this out till I was down the road a bit since I ordered it to go. I also watched a subway employee wash his hands which I was glad to see but he later pushed down the trash by hand and did not wash again. So much for clean hands. read more

Pretty decent burger joint for a quick bite during your road travel. The burgers were fresh, the fries nice and crispy. The onion rings were greasy. Took a bite and it was all grease and a bit of onion. The lady that took our order was enthusiastic and nice. Our order took about 10 minutes to be made but that's understandable because there weren't so many employees working. They started to get busy and we were at the drive thru. I didn't mind it though because it was freshly made. It's right off I-45 and it was better than getting McDonald's. read more

I've been to the facility in Fairfield several times and loved it. This week the Buffalo location was closer so I stopped there. Why a mistake. I don't hop on Yelp to enter negative reviews often but felt this one was warranted. Passed through this location today (Sunday) with my family around 4 PM and my wife/boys purchased subway sandwiches (my wife originally was going to get a burger but thought the grill was emitting some weird smells). I went against the grain and ordered a double TX burger. I then waited at least 15 minutes to get my order in an empty restaurant - one burger, no fries. I periodically checked and saw the staff of 4 huddled in the kitchen laughing and chatting. Not one update and we were the only customers in the restaurant. At one point, I stood and waited at the counter to get their attention. One of the young men appeared to be playing with sour cream in the kitchen and was licking his fingers. They all turned their attention to me at this point ... one employee returned to the counter and said my burger was coming. It did arrive a few minutes later (my family was done at this point). I wasn't confident in the preparation but took one bite - it was over cooked (I mean - even for fast food) with a funny aftertaste (burnt grease). The combination of what I saw, smelled, tasted said one thing: this isn't worth it. I dumped the burger went down the street to Sonic before hitting the road for their identical item. Honestly if I could I would give it a zero star. My husband drives for a living and was driving a 10 hour day. Saw this place I looked it up supposedly it had great reviews so he stopped in. 20 minutes of waiting while watching the whole staff on their phones and $15 for what basically was a happy meal he gets his food, or what he thought was his food. Upon leaving he opens the bag to find somebody else's order. Frustrated obviously he turns around and has to wait in line for seven people to get through To the girl at the checkout. He finally gets his turn and tells the girl she gave him the wrong food and he was obviously upset and would like his order that he actually ordered. Without skipping a beat this little girl barely utters and I'm sorry before giving him his money back and sending him on his way. They didn't even offer to remake his order!!! There will never be a day in the future that I ever recommend this company to anybody! At least at McDonald's they will remake your order!!! read more

So I decided to stop here again, against my better judgment. After my last review the owner or someone from management contacted me. I thought that was good so I decided to try again after our conversation about the incredibly slow service here. He said they would work on it, we'll they didn't. I came here, there were no cars in the parking lot and I was the only one in the drive thru. I ordered, and sat by the window for 15 minutes. I guess that's an improvement, last time I sat there for over 20 minutes. Judging by this and past reviews management is clearly not concerned with keeping thier word or they just can't manage thier people. Either way they I would rather Texas Burger not contact me just to try to BS me. I won't be coming back here for sure, I'll stick with Whataburger. read more

This place is a good spot to stop on your travels. I was 2 hours in to a 10 hour drive so I needed a break and sustenance and a clean bathroom. This place met expectations. I got a subway sandwich and despite the fact that I was eating during a slow time at 3 in the afternoon the service was fast and the food was fresh. The lady helping me was nice, not super talkative or outgoing but still polite. The facilities are a bit run down but still clean. It's no bucees but the toilet paper and soap are stocked and you don't feel like you have to bathe in sanitizer as you're leaving (in case it's not clear my standards were definitely not always met on my road trip so this place was just fine compared to others). All in all it's a perfectly average and acceptable spot for a break! read more
