Stopped for lunch at Woodys while traveling from Houston. Everyone was so friendly and food was delicious. The potato salad was fantastic! I had to get some to take home. The brisket was amazing, too! I can't wait to try the little pies I brought home. Also as an army mom, I always love seeing a business supporting the military!!!

Stopped through for lunch on our road trip because our friend said this place was a must and I was not disappointed!!! Definitely can see why the parking lots were jammed for both restaurant sides (they have 2 locations on each side of the highway which is genius but we were advised to always go there the northbound side). Love that they have an assortment of jarred items, desserts, meats and cheeses. They have a few boutique items too that are reasonably priced. Lots of cozy seats. Food comes out pretty quickly and fresh. My cheesesteak was oozing with flavor! I loved the crispy edges and the fries are perfectly cooked and coated with seasoning. Baked taters are loaded and pretty big. You order at the counter so there's not really much interaction but the staff all seem thorough and quick. This place is definitely a great eating stop if you're on a trip and they are within the travel or even if they're out a ways, it's still worth it!!!

We're usually Shell or Exxon folks so when we stopped in Centerville and stumbled upon something special -- Woody's Smokehouse. What a find! We grabbed a quick brisket sandwich, browsed through their unique merchandise, and admired the rows of sausages and smoked meats. The jerky? Hands down some of the best I've had. The smoker out back sets the perfect atmosphere -- that smell alone is worth the stop. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and a welcoming, small-town rustic vibe. Everyone we met was friendly, and it's clear they take pride in what they do. We didn't have much time but we'll definitely be making Woody's a regular stop on future trips to Houston. See y'all next time!

This was my first visit, and I absolutely loved it! It feels like this place has been around long before Buc-ee's, yet it gives off a similar vibe--which I adore. The chopped beef sandwich was delicious, and my friend tried a variety of barbecue items and raved about all of them. Needless to say, this is a spot I'll definitely stop at whenever I'm traveling from Houston. Highly recommended!

I stopped at the southbound location for a quick lunch. The service at the BBQ counter is great, filling my order for a chopped beef sandwich and a side of beans quickly. I got a drink from the fountain and paid for all at on of their several cashiers. The store is quite large, offering plenty of ready to eat BBQ and deli sandwiches. They have bulk BBQ and meats and many other general store items, too. It is definitely more than just a "gas station". There are several tables available to eat inside, too. Overall, a very positive experience with good BBQ, too!

Just get gas and keep going. If you go beyond the gas pumps and try to get good food: you were warned. I've had BBQ from every region of Texas and have been to some great places, some awesome places, and some that I just enjoyed. This place had nothing in common with any of those. I like to think that this place was having it's hey day deep in the last century when they first bought the sun bleached plastic meats that are currently collecting dust & webs in their facade. Whenever it was, it was a long time before I showed up. You go thru the grocery store portion of the restaurant to the back side to place your order. Just remember, turn around at the gas station, but if you go thru the doors, head left and head back. It's kind of wonky. I went with the holy trinity (in this spot, I should have referred to it as the unholy trinity). You ask the slicer who rapidly pulls open the display case to carve the meats. The meats that have been under some type of heat lamp for way too long. Then, you grab your sides if you didn't get them at the beginning frig. Finally, you check out which seems to be the bottleneck of the whole enterprise. After getting a long lengthy correction of the differences between "Can I have a coke" versus "May I have a coke" from the cashier, I kinda got why everyone was waiting so long. I hadn't cared about the grammatical difference since high school. Since it appeared MUCH more recent in her life journey, I guess that's why she lectured me the differences. I'll try to end this for you: the brisket wasn't good, the ribs were terrible, the German sausage was interesting in an unpleasant way. The banana pudding tasted like it came out of a tube, but the potato salad was very good (I was looking for something to like) as were the beans. Personally, I wish I had grabbed a can of Coke from a frig, bought it at the grocery store line and then I wouldn't have had to ask if I "could" have anything.

Here's a new stop for ya right off I 45 between Dallas and Houston....Woodys. It's a country store with all kinds of things "country." From fresh food, meats, sauces, jerky, clothes & jewelry. A must place to stop & bring your cooler

The salad stuff was fresh and the dressings were all good. On the hot side of the buffet they had chicken friend steak, ham, turkey and dressings, bbq brisket and friend chicken. Everything was excellent! The sides were all great. I imagine their homemade pies are amazing but I was too full to try any of them! I will 100% be back anytime I am nearby!!!

First, the service was excellent, I believe our server was named Presley. Very kind, always checking on us and keeping our water and tea full. On the buffet, my dad enjoyed the salad he had, but was surprised at the little variety offered that day. He said last time he was there with my brother there was more to choose from. He then got the fried chicken, which was greasy and barely any chicken on the thigh. I tried to find a drumstick but it was just breasts, thighs and a few wings. He did like the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. As for the fried okra, you have to eat it fresh. It is sitting under a heat lamp just makes it soggy and slimy. I ordered 4 vegetables a la carte which came out to be as much as the all you can eat buffet. First, their onion rings are OUTSTANDING! So is their homemade ranch. What was disappointing was the green beans, they definitely came out of a can and were heated. At $3.99 I expected fresh. There may have been a small piece of onion in it. Not sure if that was how it was cooked or if it fell in from another dish. The black-eyed peas were tasty. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowder which was good. However, there was pieces of cubed chicken in it which also made me think that it was a prepackaged soup and not homemade. My dad got the coconut cream pie, which tasted good, but could have used more coconut then just on the top. He wanted bread pudding or peach cobbler, however at the time of day we were there, they had been picked over way too much, not leaving much for anyone else to enjoy. I did like the selections in the gift shop and purchased a tea towel before we left. I always like to try a place 3 times so I may stop in and try something else. Again, great customer service.

The venue itself is great, with a nicely decorated space that offers both inside and outside seating, along with a kids' play area--a huge plus for families. Now, on to the food. The brisket was a definite standout. It had a wonderful, rich flavor, and the salt and pepper (SP) bark was spot-on, providing a perfect crust. A nice, prominent smoke ring and a healthy amount of rendered fat made for a tender and juicy bite. The ribs were also solid. They had a great pull from the bone, but I noticed a slightly overpowering "hammy" flavor that detracted a bit from the classic barbecue taste I was hoping for. The house-made birria sausage was a fantastic surprise. It had a delicious mix of pork and beef, complemented by melted cheese and a good kick of chili. The casing had a satisfying snap, which I appreciate. For sides, the Maple Sprouts were exceptional. They were perfectly charred and crispy, with the maple flavor coming through beautifully without being too sweet. The jambalaya was also a strong contender. It was loaded with flavorful sausage bits, and the rice was cooked just right. After all that, we were happy to see they also offer some nice desserts to round out the meal. Overall, I had a great meal at Mimsy's. The brisket and unique house sausage are must-tries, and the Maple Sprouts are a delicious side that stands on its own. While the ribs were a little off for my personal taste, the rest of the meal and the friendly atmosphere more than made up for it. I'd definitely go back for more.

Hubba hubba.....this is one of my faves from "the list" and this time did not disappoint either…read more Please note, they only offer brisket on Saturday. I really enjoy how Mimsy's thinks outside the box when it comes to their dishes. Thoughtful and creative sandwiches and what I like to call all in one items like loaded mac n cheese, loaded spuds, and the wedge salad that are less expensive than buying the meat and sides but filling none the less. This time I ordered the loaded mac n cheese with the smoked turkey. I swear, they have the creamiest and most delicious mac. I am almost always underwhelmed by mac n cheese. These are exceptional. I also ordered the jerk chicken leg quarter and it was so clean and delicious. I would definitely order that again. Hubby order the Smoked turkey sandwich with avocado, bacon and aioli and it looked magnificent and yes, he did offer me a bite. I had enough of my own food to eat. I will be back, Mimsy's!!!
