I stopped by woody's on the way to Houston on a road trip with friends. Woody is usually our stop instead of Buc-ee's. Honestly, I would say the food at Woody's is better than Buc-ee's. If you like down south Cajun home cook food then you love Woody's food. I got some Boudin there and usually get chicken inside. Their beans are delicious. What is also has great service. They have many people there willing to help you and answer any questions. The ambience of Woodies is a down home southern welcoming gas station restaurant everything store.

Fantastic place. Rob and David were terrific. I probably gained 5 pounds. Full bakery and BBQ offerings in an enormous clean restaurant filled with happy people. All forms of grocery items available along with fuel. Not hard to discover who came first (Sorry Buccees) but if they were across the street Woodys wins every time. Great concept and I understand Woodys II is the proud restaurant of the daughter's owner across the high way. North and South. Appreciate the hospitality!

Smoked meat and jerky great! Great place for lunch. Clean bathrooms and helpful, friendly staff.

Stopped for lunch at Woodys while traveling from Houston. Everyone was so friendly and food was delicious. The potato salad was fantastic! I had to get some to take home. The brisket was amazing, too! I can't wait to try the little pies I brought home. Also as an army mom, I always love seeing a business supporting the military!!!

We're usually Shell or Exxon folks so when we stopped in Centerville and stumbled upon something special -- Woody's Smokehouse. What a find! We grabbed a quick brisket sandwich, browsed through their unique merchandise, and admired the rows of sausages and smoked meats. The jerky? Hands down some of the best I've had. The smoker out back sets the perfect atmosphere -- that smell alone is worth the stop. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and a welcoming, small-town rustic vibe. Everyone we met was friendly, and it's clear they take pride in what they do. We didn't have much time but we'll definitely be making Woody's a regular stop on future trips to Houston. See y'all next time!

Stopped through for lunch on our road trip because our friend said this place was a must and I was not disappointed!!! Definitely can see why the parking lots were jammed for both restaurant sides (they have 2 locations on each side of the highway which is genius but we were advised to always go there the northbound side). Love that they have an assortment of jarred items, desserts, meats and cheeses. They have a few boutique items too that are reasonably priced. Lots of cozy seats. Food comes out pretty quickly and fresh. My cheesesteak was oozing with flavor! I loved the crispy edges and the fries are perfectly cooked and coated with seasoning. Baked taters are loaded and pretty big. You order at the counter so there's not really much interaction but the staff all seem thorough and quick. This place is definitely a great eating stop if you're on a trip and they are within the travel or even if they're out a ways, it's still worth it!!!

This was my first visit, and I absolutely loved it! It feels like this place has been around long before Buc-ee's, yet it gives off a similar vibe--which I adore. The chopped beef sandwich was delicious, and my friend tried a variety of barbecue items and raved about all of them. Needless to say, this is a spot I'll definitely stop at whenever I'm traveling from Houston. Highly recommended!

I stopped at the southbound location for a quick lunch. The service at the BBQ counter is great, filling my order for a chopped beef sandwich and a side of beans quickly. I got a drink from the fountain and paid for all at on of their several cashiers. The store is quite large, offering plenty of ready to eat BBQ and deli sandwiches. They have bulk BBQ and meats and many other general store items, too. It is definitely more than just a "gas station". There are several tables available to eat inside, too. Overall, a very positive experience with good BBQ, too!

After 25+ years of silence, 2 kids that aren't my own I'd die for worked here, countless thousands…read moreof dollars spent on brisket and jerky alone (don't get me started on canned goods, sauces, pickles, Christmas Hams...more later) How the HELL did anyone has written a bad review...its like saying I admit it...I was butthurt this 1 time and now I'm finally going to put it into pixels for the interwebs people...stop...just...stop... Let's get this out of the way. Screw Buc-ee's. Venture capitalism at its finest. PLEASE blaze the 15 minutes North (if you drive like I uhhh...do not Texas State Troopers) and make it to Centerville...STOP HERE INSTEAD. Their BBQ was made here...not in a different zip code in a non-descript building... First and foremost...I am a people person. There is not a DAMN person that works here and is not smiling, ready to help, and overly friendly. The young lady who helped me at the counter smacked her engagement ring and started crying noting she got it LAST NIGHT...I politely gave her the name of my personal jewler and she lit up like a Christmas tree and came around the corner and gave me a hug. At my age...it'll polish out. At her age it is a scaled down version of God. She beamed as she took the kids, my wife, and my order. The food. This is gonna be easy... 6 Brisket sammiches and 1 chopped tub pulled pork please...for those keeping count there are only 4 in our party...the rest of the sammiches were to take home cause I won't be back this way for a bit. I do not know what kind of rubber and magic voodoo they make their BBQ sauce from but it's the best...re-read that...the...best...I...don't grab as many as I can and take them home... Ditto the pickles. I cannot get anyone at the store despite my patronage to tell me where they get them but the beat the HELL out of Del-Dixi and Vlasic. THE MEAT...Brisket...Smoked to perfection. Perfect crust. Generous portions. Not overcharged...NOT MADE IN ANOTHER ZIP CODE AND SHIPPED IN like the beaver company. Yes they do. Friggin tourist trap. Just juicy Texas goodness. The chopped pulled pork...order a tub. Take it home. Wrap in a homemade tortilla with the aforementioned sauce...you're welcome...Or dump in scramblers for the most epic breakfast burrito you can make and take "credit" for as your guests are amazed. Pro tip...Food Save ANY "leftovers...heh" you may have to savor down the line. IF YOU want the true religious experience stop on the South 45 Shop. The smell alone is worth it. Jerky is second to none. My only niggle...BRING BACK THE CHRISTMAS HAMS!!!! My mamma gets mad at me when I come up for Christmas and Woody's didn't have them this year. Soooo... TLDR time. UBER staff? Check. AMAZING everything in the store that has the name "Woody's" on it? Check. BBQ? Double Check. That damn sauce...Check. Not Bucc-ee's? Check. Keep driving. It is worth 15 minutesish of your life to get here instead. Rock solid 10 stars.

Back in early February, my partner and I were in College Station to visit family. We made our way…read moreover to historic downtown Bryan and checked out Cocoa's Pantry. Cocoa's advertises itself as a kitchen supply store, and they definitely carry plenty of upscale brands (Zwilling, Breville, Le Creuset). We, however, were there for the Chocolate Gallery. The kitchen is surrounded by glass, so you can see all of the chocolate delicacies being made. We stopped in a few days before Valentine's day, so chef was making chocolate covered strawberries. While peering in, we noted the Culinary Institute of America chef's jacket on the wall behind us. This elevated our expectation! We made our way to the Chocolate Gallery, where a lovely attendant explained offerings that included a variety of cakes and artisan chocolates. Though they looked delicious, we passed on the cakes and strawberries, and selected 3 artisan chocolates each. These are the type of chocolates that you savor, letting them melt in your mouth. The mouth feel of these gems was smooth with no waxiness or grainy feeling, and the varied fillings enhanced the complexity. This isn't a penny candy store, but you're getting fine chocolates. Unfortunately, we were so busy savoring the chocolate, that we didn't take any photos! I hope Bryan supports this store during COVID-19 so that we can visit again when we come back.

A great addition to Downtown Bryan. A great selection of cookware and cutlery.read more
