HORRIBLE! I had the worst experience with this place! First of all most of them do not know English! When I moved in my house they had turned on the wrong location and had the wrong address which they entered wrong then I called and had it fixed and the right location turned on then never received a bill then they just turned off my electricity I called and they had a whole different wrong address and where trying to charge me $900! I paid them had it turned back on and exactly a month later still no bill and they turned it off again trying to charge more not to mention the $300 deposit to have it turned on to begin with! This place is a nightmare I can't believe they are still In business they will rip you off and lie to you they are also way to expensive! Just super poor customer service. After being with them for over a year I was wondering why my bill was getting so big. After reviewing my account it turns out that the "special" plan I was on had expired and they put me on their normal, ie. most expensive plan and I was paying 70% more per kwh than the plan I had signed up on. When I called and asked for them to adjust my bill all I got was a apology and a push to get on a new plan with a new contract. Not worth staying around. Worst company ever. Another person opened an account in my name and accrued a balance with them. They reported to collections, once I found out about the account they were completely rude and not helpful at all. All they would take is me to pay the bill and would not accept anything else even though this was a unique case of identity theft. Worst customer service in the business! STAY AWAY! read more

Probably the worst electricity provider I've ever personally had, they will not own up to their mistakes and fix your account

I don't know where to begin. It is sad and pathetic. TXU brings in billions or dollars each year in revenue. And yet its website is hopeless. TXU has managed to make to make it difficult to pay a bill by credit card. The on-line system is slow - as in click and go take a shower, dress and return - by then the page may have loaded. And may the gods help you if you want to speak to someone about the rate plans. Suddenly you find yourself in the Sub-Continent - speaking to an individual so far removed from Dallas that ... well it's hard to describe. The individuals mean well - but they are reading from prepared texts and the lingo used is all about average usage rates, and energy usage, and .. well it's not a pleasant experience. Don't ask questions (there are no answers), just be nice and say thank you for your time. It is not their fault - these people are given garbage to repeat and that is what they do. Somewhere deep in the bowels of the TXU legal department is some soul-less attorney who had to prepare these prepared texts and I am sure he or she is not proud of the work. Someone in the TXU IT department (I assume it has such a department but maybe not since the output is so disappointing) should visit Dallas City Hall and the water utilities website. Believe it or not, the City of Dallas got it right with the water utilities and the website is a breeze to use. Not so with TXU. Shudder. read more

I just recently cancelled services with TXU, as I was rellocating to Fort Benning, GA. After terminating my service, I was issued a final bill for 8 days not covered by the previous billing cycle. TXU claims that I used 1604 kWh in an 8 day period. I have an 8.75kW PV solar panel system. I have never used 1604 kWh of energy in any 30-day cycle since their installation. What is worse is that their website (TXU's own site, not a 3rd party host) states I only used 711 kWh during that 8-day period. While still excessive for what is typical, this more than doubled the bill. I lodged a complaint with TXU who returned a finding that the reading was verified based on historical trends of energy usage at my residence. This logic is absurd as I have never had an electric bill or energy usage like that in the 2 years since my solar panels were installed. This is blatant fraud in an attempt to rob me as I am leaving the state. read more

STAY AWAY!!! They lie about the refer a friend advertisement. They then try and charge all these mysterious fees that they try to justify. My account was on autopay and fine for 4 months. I started to bug them about the refer a friend $50 credit they owed me and my dad for him referring me. Well what do you know. They all the sudden started claiming my payment was not working (same one I had been using) and charged me $25 each time along with a late payment penalty on both months for $10. Total $70! The next fee was a debt penalty I guess to put the stupid account on cash only or whatever. The stupid thing about all this is that i continued to use the same damn card for the one time payment and it worked!! I guess that was a lovely and very sneaky way to get back their $100 that they fought me to get. The customer service from managers is terrible and half the customer service people can't even be understood. read more

Had a sales rep come to my home to convince me to switch to TXU and initially I was interested because he said I would save money. He told me that he could offer 9.5 cents so I decided to go for it. He called into corporate or whatever and gave them my info then he went to hand his cell phone to me and told me to just say yes to everything to confirm the contract. He said that if I hesitate or say anything, but yes that they would hang up on me. I got on the phone and the rep was telling me about the plan and got to the price and he told me the plan was for 10/5 cents so I stopped him and said that isn't what the sales rep sitting here just told me! He said that was the rate so I said no I don't want your services. The sales man pretended to be all upset and said he would talk to his supervisor then packed up and left quickly. Initially I was going to keep my comments to myself, but I got a letter in the mail telling me that they basically rejected me and I become even more upset with the experience. Basically the sales man LIED TO MY FACE IN MY OWN HOME. I called TXU to complain about my experience and told the rep that this isn't how you should do business and shame on them if this is really what they do and if it was just the sales guy that he needed to be a better sales man. They of course tried to offer me a plan at 6.7 cents and I said No! Because of the unprofessional-ism your door to door salesmen demonstrated and the fact that he lied to me I am not interested in their services. I said why would I go with you guys after you lied to me, how do I know I know you won't lie to me again?! I'm so mad because I was actually interested in using the Texas based company I will never use them period. read more

I have been a TXU customer for 30 years. As of tomorrow I will be a customer no more. Tonight I received a call to phone TXU about my bill. I placed the call and do believe I spoke with the two biggest morons on the planet. I wish I could give names. Apparently, I did not pay all of my bill and my electricity is being disconnected tomorrow. The total current charges on my bill were $224.25 which I paid. I did not look on the back and see the average monthly billing amount of $295.40. Stupid me, I thought total current charges meant TOTAL CURRENT CHARGES. Anyway, I owe a difference of $71.15. Okay, that's all well and fine. I was told I have a credit of $169.38 which will be deducted off my next bill. I ask why the $71.15 could not be deducted from my credit. I was told they can not do that because my service is being disconnected tomorrow. Huh? The really fun part was I had to pay a fee of $3.95 to pay over the phone to ensure that my service will not be disconnected. I am thoroughly disgusted. I miss the days when being a valued customer meant something and people knew what good customer service was. read more

I would rate these guys negative if possible. I had an outstanding balance with TXU Energy appear on my credit report. When I called, no one at TXU was able to verify the charge was legitimate. I was told there was "no contract" on the account # which meant the account was never active. Regardless, I paid the full amount showing as owed ($272) on 4/26, so I could have the account status on my credit report changed to show the account was paid in full. I was told a payoff letter would be received after 10 business days of the payment posting to my bank account. The payment posted to my bank account within 12 hours. After 19 business days, I made a 2nd request for the payoff letter on May 24. Again, I was told the letter would be received wtihin 7-10 business days. I made a 3rd request on June 16th-36 business days after payment was received. I was told the original request was worded incorrectly & had been cancelled. I was then told the letter would be emailed within 2 business days; it's now 4 business days later and no letter. 40 days, 4 formal requests, still no letter. I find it infuriating TXU is efficient enough to debit my bank account within 12 hours, but is too inefficient to provide me a simple form letter after 40 business days. I've yet to speak with in anyone in the TXU credit dept that is interested or willing to resolve this issue. They've taken $272 they were unable to validate was actually owed them, and the company does not even have the courtesy to confirm payment was made. read more

TXU has pissed me off royally. I set up an account with them for a home inspection. The day of the inspection the electricity was not connected though it was supposed to be. The inspector actually had to open up the box and rig the electricity himself. I called TXU and told them the electricity was not connected and they told me it was. I tried to cancel the service right away but had to wait 4 days because it was a weekend. I called Oncor (my local energy distributer?) and asked them what had to be done in order for the electricity to be turned on (used a different company the second time) and they told me the electric company turns in a work order to them and they connect the electricity. Nothing has to be done in the box... I told them that my electricity was never turned on with TXU, and they looked in their records and told me that TXU put the work order in incorrectly so they never turned the service on. In the meantime, I recieved a bill from TXU for close to $20.00 of activiation and service fees (activation that they never did). I have called and argued with them numerous times, and they keep telling me that they contacted Oncor and they verified to them that service was connected so they will not waive the fees. This company SUCKS, and I really don't understand why they say the ditrubuter tells them one thing while the distributer tells me another. Save yourself a headache and your money and go with someone else. read more

We had TXU in the past and have never had a problem. My husband deployed so I moved back in with my parents so we cancelled our plan, no problem. Since we had no issues in the past, when my husband returned, we decided to go with TXU again. We had no problems with the first bill and paid roughly what I was quoted. Now the second bill is due, it states we owe almost $300. That is almost triple what we were quoted and the first bill. There is no way between my husband who works during the day and myself use that much energy in a month. When I called about the situation, Leon was not willing to help, solve the issue or even answer my questions. Matter of fact, I still never got the answer to a question that I asked three times. I asked to speak to his supervisor but told me they all left at 10pm. TXU is a pretty big company who should have management there during all hours. I feel that Leon lied to me several times and was not willing to help. He told me this months bill was from the middle of August to beginning of October. I made a payment in September so I am not sure how it could include August. Then he tried to tell me that he told me what date the meter was read (when he never did in the first place) but couldn't remember the date. He obviously has no idea what he is talking about and his information was all over the place. I asked about different rate plans that we could be switched to or how to get out of our contract and he could not answer the questions or he did not want to transfer me so my questions could be answered. If you are in customer service shouldn't you know most of the information (or important information about the company you work for) or try to find out the information for the customer? He was not willing to work with me at all and told me to call back later. I am very disgusted with the customer service I received from Leon and TXU. I requested to have another meter reading because I do not think this is right and again was told to call back later and that he could not do the request. They obviously do not care about their customers or how they treat them. read more

I signed up with TXU because of the reward they were offering. $175 after paying first bill / $175 1 year anneversary plus cash back rewards. After jacking around with them for my first $175, I received it almost 3 months after my first bill was paid. Now, my year has passed and I was not automatically sent the reward. I called about it and got the run around. After dealing with the issue for almost three months, the issue has not been resolved. They keep telling me the same thing and they are waiting for a department to approve it. The department they are waiting on for the approval, I am not allowed to speak with. I think they offer this reward in hopes that customers will forget the second half of the deal. To me it is bad business. If you offer incentives, you should stick to them and not make the customer jump through hoops to get the incentives they are due. I am not pleased and will not be until my issue is resolved. In fact, I do not think that will resolve it, I have done so much that my time is actually worth something; they need to find a way to make it up to me. TXU should take care of their customers. Once my contract is up I plan on finding a better electricity company. Unless they decide to make ammends. I would not recommend TXU energy to my friends at the moment. read more

TXU Free Nights is a way for solar customers to save on energy costs. However be prepared to fight for it. I have been in a battle with them for the last 3 months and have finally won. I did not get their attention until I filed a complaint with the Texas Public Utility Commission. I won though because I had downloaded data from smatermtertexas.com and analyzed that data. I provided TXU with that data and finally won my case. I can do the same for you. If you are wondering about your charges, I can analyze your data and give you daily reports on what your bill will be and when you are using energy. I have had TXU Energy for 6 years and the last few months with them have been horrible. I called a couple of weeks ago regarding my account and opted to enroll in the average monthly billing. After carefully re-reading the program I called to opt out only to have the customer service rep (I use the term customer service loosely) yell at me to make up my mind. I checked my account this morning and I have a credit on my account. I chose to do the online chat since I did not feel like being yelled at today and received no better treatment. Online rep stated I have a credit from the average monthly billing program. I stated I had called to have that removed and his response is that I as never enrolled in the program. I asked him to clarify and his response was rude. I have learned my lesson from the original call and printed out the entire chat conversation. I am more than willing to pay to break the contract and find another electricity company that does not think it is okay to yell at its paying customers. read more

I signed up this year for the TXU home package. Worst decision ever. Made a claim for my AC in May. Over a month later , nearing three digit temperatures, nothing has been fixed. The company that I was connected to was Air Force 1 Conditioning. They came to check what was wrong and to collect their 60 dollars. That was the one time I heard from them. When I call, they don't answer. I have to call TXU to get a hold of them. For over a month, all I keep hearing is that the parts needed to fix it are expected to be delivered on a specific date. The day comes, nothing happens so I have to call TXU to then be told it's back ordered. It's to the point that I'm ready to cancel everything even my electrity service with TXU. It's so frustrating to come from the heat to a hot house. I don't care if my credit messes up. Rather that than to have a company get my money that has disappointed me tremendously. If that's not bad enough, I keep being charged 50 dollars a month for this package. Save your money. read more
