Do not sign up with Infinite! Their customer service agents are set up to mislead you into thinking their deals are better than they are. Their supervisors are also horrible. Please don't let anyone trick you into signing up with them. I made my first mistake signing up with them in July 2019. They have a semi-decent "base pay" (~$58-68 per 1000 kwh) but their surcharge is ridiculous (20 cents per kwh after 1000). It's super easy to go over 1000 in Texas in the summer months so it drives up your bill significantly! I recalled to renew my contract with them under the impression I was going with a new plan. (5.8c per kwh flat) I had called customer service to ask if it was 5.8 cents per flat and they had a ROUNDABOUT WAY OF ANSWERING. I literally asked "Is this 5.8 cents per kwh no matter how much" before I got cut off with her answering "Yes, so this is going to be the same plan as you currently have just locked in at a cheaper rate for 4 years." Notice how the customer service said "yes" to my question but then switched to saying it was my same plan! TLDR; They still are charging 20 cents per KWH after 1000. Talking to their customer service is even worse than dealing with their horrible rates. I literally would have been satisfied with continuing my contract as is if they had helped alleviate my bill for ONE MONTH (out of a 48 month contract) but it was so hard talking to them. This company is amazing. I've had TXU and StarTex in the past but Infinite blows them both away in terms of customer service and rates. I just signed up again (FREE NEST THERMOSTAT) for the third time, and I'm usually one of those folks that's on powertochoose.org website rooting around for the best rates every time I'm for renewal and I haven't had to do that anymore. I was a bit hesitant in the beginning due to some bad reviews, but it looks like those reviews are from folks who aren't reading the fine print or renewing prior to their contract being up and their rate changing for being out of a contract. Every single person I've ever had when I called on the phone was beyond helpful and nice, and that REALLY RARE these days! I tell everyone about Infinite, and I'm one picky chick! HAHA! read more

We have had a terrible experience with Infinite Energy when we lived in Dallas. At the end of our 3 month contract, we called to terminate our utilization because we were moving. 6 months later, we get a bill saying we didn't pay our May (6 months later) $100 bill. We figured this was a mistake, and we called Monday morning. We called and they said we were given a $250 credit for paying on time for 12 months straight (including the year before our 3 month term contract). This $250 was paid over the following five months we did not pay. It turns out, when you call and try to turn off your service (which we had done at the end of the 3 month term we signed up for), you have to use the term "deactivate" otherwise they do NOT turn it off. Absolutely ridiculous. And never going to use this company again. 0 empathy for the situation. 1000000% do not recommend. read more

I've used this company for about two years at a property we own out of town, and have been impressed. They were easy to deal with on the rare occasion that I needed to call (mostly just for the initiial set-up), and I spoke with a real person, in English, with minimal wait time. That's more than I can say for any other utility company I've ever contacted. Our bills have been exceptionally low, except for peak a/c months like July & August. Yes, all companies offer a lower introductory rate that eventually goes up, but this was clear in the plan I chose (from powertochoose.org). Usually, your rate is good for a year. At that point, you can always renegotiate or check for other discounts, if you feel the rate has increased too much. We feel our bills are still quite reasonable. I also appreciate that Infinite Energy does not spam us, but will occasionally send useful emails like estimated energy usage/charge during peak months. I'm not sure why a few others have had negative experience, but many issues can be avoided simply by putting your account on auto-pay (bank draft). We set ours up like this, and we've had no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend trying Infinite Energy, if they're available in your area. read more

I recently switched from TXU to Infinite Energy, a company that services Texas but is based in Florida. I found out about them on powertochoose.com. They had excellent rates but since I had never heard of them I was skeptical. Reading reviews online they were very mixed. Most complaints were about billing or service issues. Since I was getting charged over .15/kWh with TXU (including Oncor charges) I switched to Infinite. I was concerned about my service but there was no interruption. Recently I received my first bill which was accurate. Then I went online and paid my bill no problem. So far so good. At this point I'd highly recommended Infinite Energy if you live in TX especially if you are not in an electric contract. And if you are using TXU or Reliant you are paying way too much. Update, June 2016: I have just renewed my contact with Infinite for year 3. They have been great, I've never had a single problem. My pricing is always right, bill pay is easy on the app, and I've saved tons if money. $220 is about the highest my electric bill costs, with a 4/3 house in a Texas summer. That's nearly $200 less than what I used to pay in the dead of summer. Several months during the year my electric bill is actually cheaper than my water bill and Direct TV. I'm guessing I save about $1500-$2000 a year vs what I was paying before. At this rate I will be an Infinite energy customer for life. Two thumbs up. Give them a try! read more

Infinite Energy uses predatory pricing to get customers to sign up for short term contracts. The advertised rates are for between 1 and 3 month introductory offers that will expire. At the end of the introductory term - you will be sent one email. If you do not see the email, do not actively change your plan and contact Infinite Energy - and if you do not agree to longer terms - your rate will increase as much as 11x (yes that is eleven times the original rate). Forget the commitment to local community and the superficial claims about happy staff and family environment. This company and its leaders are completely without conscience. The contact center staff are manipulative and clearly have no moral code. Based on my actual experience - I will never do business with this company again. The fact that this business is based in Florida and acts as a broker/marketing agent should tell you how it makes money - there is no service and the intent of the offers is to get you to sign up for a plan that will very quickly become a nightmare. read more

I asked for my account to be disconnected by July 30th, (time by which I had already moved out of my apartment, and was cross country.). Even though prior to that they had 0 problem finding my place to connect my service, or when I called to check if there was a leak. In the meanwhile, I was of course charged for the following term. Lo and behold i get an email saying my account is now inactive even though we literally are needing this electric service. I am NOT happy. Being a new customer to Infinite Energy, my initial experience has been horrendous. First, when I signed up, I signed up for a plan that provided a flat monthly charge as well as incremental usage charges depending on kWh usage. I asked for my billing date and was told it was based on when I signed up for service. Contrary to that statement, a week into my plan I get a bill that charges me the month rate for only a week's usage. Second, the "usage" Infinite Energy claims I'm using is significantly higher than any other energy provider I've had for the 4 years being at my apartment. I haven't changed any habits and use minimal energy, so this seems highly unlikely my usage would dramatically jump. I've never exceeded 1000 kWh in my time here, but Infinite Energy claims I'll likely do so in my first month with them! (Technically 2nd month if you count that shady first week bill). I contacted their customer service about these issues and was essentially told 'too bad'I'll definitely take this all into account when my contract ends later this year, and likely switch to a more trustworthy provider! UPDATE: Infinite Energy addressed my initial billing cycle question. However I'm still skeptical on the usage they claim on my prior bill. It was over double what this past month was. read more

I was coming to the end of a 12 month contract and asked about coming rates. The sales person sold me on the all-inclusive plan. When I got the contract, it was not that plan, but a much more expensive one. So I called to get it put back on that plan, and they kicked it up to "research" to correct, and it was corrected. However, even the new contract included a $9.95 service fee for less than 1000kWH, and this had been glossed over in the sales pitch, even though I hadn't had that on the old contract. Then I got the bill for the final month of the previous contract. They had tacked on the $9.95 service fee, even though it was never on the old contract! The agent I called kicked the issue up to "research". And that's where matters currently sit. I am getting tired of making service calls. Two stars, because service and pricing were good on the original contract. However, I shouldn't have to be making two troubleshooting calls. read more

I've been with them for at least 3 years, until today I found out that my credit score is really messed up because Infinite Energy report me to the credit bureau every month even though I pay my bill on time everytime. They even reported that I didn't pay my bill, but when I called, they said they can't change anything.... That's the most f*cked up things ever!!! - why would you do that when someone pays bill on-time every time? Your credit score will be lower because you are with this company even if you pay on time, so because of them you might not be able to get car/house loans and such... REALLY F*cKed up!!! STAY AWAY from them!!!! You can explain however you want, your company is the only company that does that, and it shows up as "past due". The best thing you should do is recommending to someone higher than your pay grade to get rid of that stupid practice. Reserve that for someone who doesn't pay the bill on time. Very disappointed with this company. I started out in July paying 8.5 cents a Kwh and using 857 kwh. This was consistent until December when our rate skyrocketed to 16.9 cents a kwh. January came and surprise, our rate went up again to 18.4. I can only guess what February rate is. I reached out to infinite energy to find out why our rate was increasing and we were told that we must have used a lot of power one month and that reliant was charging us an escalated delivery fee and that it was being passed on. Looking at my bill I dont show that we used any more power than we usually do. I called reliant and they said that this was not true and that they dont tell their distributors what to charge. I asked Infinite again to show me proof of this high usage and they said that they had no proof and that any proof would have to come from reliant. To make matters worse that said that this rate will not go down any for the next year. essentially we are penalized for a whole year and they still cant show me when I used this large amount of energy. I'm only 10 days into my contract and we're off to a bad start already. I signed up for a plan that charges $0.00 energy charge up 1,000 kw/hrs. The catch is the base fee, which is $50. Since I didn't use more than 1,000 over the last 12 months with my previous provider, I figure that my bill will be exactly $50 each month. That's more than any single bill I had with Gexa, but I had an insanely cheap rate with them - one that nobody will touch this go around. Due to the Oncor billing cycle, my first bill was only 8 days of billing. Much to my surprise, they charged me the full $50 base charge for 8 days of service. After questioning this, they agreed to a "one-time courtesy" of a $15 credit. So they have basically stolen $19 from me already, pro-rated. I'm sure the same thing will happen at the end of my contract, which will also be a partial month. I would stay away from this company, knowing what I know now. read more

Had to go to California for training in the Mohave Desert ( Im active duty military ). During this 30 days we are not allowed to have cell phones. Apparently someone stole my debit card information and my bank ended canceling my debit card. I got back on the 3rd of June paid all my bills once I activated my new Debit card. Go out to get a hair cut and dog food to find my gas had been disconnected once I had returned. I then call Infinite Energy to find my bill was paid and they disconnected my gas service (some supposed mix up). The lady I spoke to was extremely rude telling me "your out of luck your gonna have wait until Thursday for someone to come out and turn it back on." I then asked to speak to a supervisor. She forgot to put the phone on hold and started talking shit about me and then hung up. Her Supervisor called me following being hung up on. He was trying to give me all kind of excuses telling me its my fault even though my account was in good standing. So now I am stuck with cold showers, can't do laundry due to my dryer being gas, and I can't cook food either. I am completely fucked until Thursday. This company may not be a direct reflection of their employees but they need more training and learn how to take responsibility. They will hang up on customers and talk shit about them behind their back. This energy company is the best by far that I have used. I went with them because of their price on Powertochoose.org but am just amazed at how easy they are to work with. Super easy sign up, an super easy website to navigate. One feature I really love it the weekly energy report they will email you if you sign up to see it. Shows how much you used each day for current and previous weeks and compares the two along with the temperature that day. Makes it so easy to check if you are getting a good rate or if you need to change your thermostat, etc. I just had to give them a good review here because good companies like this should get positive feedback for their desire to provide good user friendly customer service - without over charging, thank you!! read more

Infinite Energy only allows 2 weeks for payment after the bill is processed. And, there are months where they can bill you twice because of how Reliant bills them. Even one day late makes a bad mark on your credit history with them that they report to the next provider. HOWEVER, when you cancel your service, they hold your deposit money for, "4 to 6 weeks after the final bill is processed & paid". So, you only get 2 weeks to pay, but they get to hold your $250 deposit money for 6 weeks after they process the final bill. Not customer centric! read more

I moved to dallas oct 22 which is when my electric was set up to start, on nov 15th I get home from work, I work 7:30am- 9pm so needless to say I'm exhausted when I get home and usually fix dinner, shower and hit the sack to do it all over again the next day..well on the 15th I get home and there is NO electricity in my home! I go to my apartment concierge to see if the apartment is having an issue. No issue with the apartment, must be the electric company..tried and tried and tried calling BuT their hours are conveniently 8-5, and YES that is even their customer service team, so if you need help,have a problem, or you come home to a random outage-GOOD LUCK , because if its the weekend or after 8 you are shit out of luck .The concierge let me use the Internet and helped me search for their online page which was no help, it said my first bill was to be mailed out on the 16th and due in dec- I went ahead an paid the bill and set up auto pay-I woulda jus canceled if I hadn't agreed to a 7 month fixed rate with them-which I'm finding out is not a fixed rate @ all- the apartments I live in we're kind enough to give me the keys to our buildings hotel room for the night till I could sort it out in the morning. When I did finally talk to someone they couldn't give me an explanation as to what had happened-the lady on the phone jus kept saying"ya this is weird,idk what happened" ..I demanded it be restored immediately which she told me it could take up to 48hrs to fix the issue.. Ummm 48hrs my ass!! I also asked her if I could hv some sort of credit for my I convenience to their "mystery power outage" involving jus my apartment-she said no , because they only charge for energy used and if my power was out I wasn't being charges anyway- hello lady! I get charged a service fee every month dumb ass.. Apparently this was to much for her to wrap her mind around and grasp so finally I jus told her to focus on getting the electric back on after about 2 hrs on the phone with her.thankfully it was on in a few more hrs because my apartments use smart meters- but here I am sitting now holding a bill in my hand saying I haven't made a payment on my account EVER! So it's Sunday-weekend so they are closed- and I'm having to pull my bank records up to prove to them they hv been drafting payments from my account..save yourself a headache and use a diff electric company, this place is a joke!!!! read more

I have to give 1 star because it won't let me use no stars! I have had the WORST experience with infinite energy!! Let me begin my story. Two days ago, a call to my cell phone from an off shore customer service representative, who did not speak English very well, told me to pay my 45.00 bill. I replied ok as soon as I hang up the phone, he asked me the reason why it was late, honestly I just forgot!! He said ok, then hung up. I paid my bill... After working a 12 hr shift I come home to an apartment no electricity. I called the number they close at 5CST?! What?! I have sleep apnea so I need my power on for my Cpap. My oxygen levels drop to between 60-70% during the night this has been tested! I have been calling since 7pm CST. I asked several times to speak to a supervisor, it's now 2 hrs later and yet no call. 4 phone calls, which of course roll over to their secondary sources-they have no control over anything because they need a work order!! I was hung up on 3x.... I can't get a work order because they're customer service is closed. I also expressed my concern that I had just purchased 100.00 worth of groceries, they could care less. Well ma'am they're not open, I told them that their AHT would suffer-that's average handle time to those who don't know. I want to speak to a supervisor now.. The IVR states if this is a medical emergency please press 3. Umm not being able to breathe is a medical emergency?! Is it not?! I have to have this service because the apartment complex uses them, if it were up to me, I would be going somewhere else!! Currently I sit in my car charging the phone... I will be hitting every piece of social media I can find and post this! Yes, I have been in customer service support for 25 years, and yes I know how it works. As someone else mentioned...Complete rip off...Never ever had any problems with ANY electric company in my 20+years of paying electric bills. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and never has the usage been that high as what I'm currently getting with an invoice more than $300/month for the past 2 months....that's INSANE for 1100 sq ft 2bed apartment! I called them to remedy this and they told me that i cant change it now since I'm on a 12 month contract and i acknowledged the "legal verbiage" by saying "YES" at the time of signing the contract. Now my ONLY way is to extend it to a long contractual period (24 months or 36 months) otherwise i have to BUY OUT of this contract and it was in the legal contract that i said YES to when i signed up for the service...Really?? Also, when i was signing up for the service, i asked them the average usage for my apartment size and they said something lower, even then i went with the higher usage option just to be on the safe side. Turns out, the usage is not even close, but more than double to what i was originally told. I feel like helpless now with no option to do anything about it other than paying CRAZY electric bill for the next 10 months. Initially, i was thinking of keeping their service when i move into a bigger house but now, unless there is some remedy, i will not be doing that. Very happy so far! We have a smart meter. We subscribed to their 12 Month Prime (fixed rate). As of 2/2015 I'm getting 13.3 cents/kwh from 1-1000kwhrs, 3.3 cents for 1001-2000 kwhrs and 8.3 cents for 2000 kwhrs on up. Before signing up I looked at all my electric bills from the previous year and was happy to see that 10 of those months fell in the 1001-2000 kwh range. I seriously recommend reviewing your previous year's use. Still, 8.3 cents on the high end is still less than what I use to pay Reliant. Having the smart meter is nice because you can see exactly where you stand prior to your monthly reading. Also, I looked at the incumbent electric carrier's site (Texas New Mexico Power) to find the meter reading schedule for the future months for my neighborhood so I know exactly when it's read. My Infinite March bill was $33.14 compared to Reliant's rate at $130.09, That's 1005 Kwhrs use! On the "down-side" do not let your monthly usage fall below 1000Kwhrs! ;) Keep in mind to get their $100 monthly bill discount, you have to have a minimum of 20 days of service in the bill cycle, so make sure you switch right after meter has been read. Web site is very simple with basic info. Weekly reports from Infinite Energy come to your email inbox, however, my readings from the Smart Meter site were much more accurate. I initially thought,"Where's the catch?", just read the Electricity Facts Sheet that all providers must supply. read more

I am still happy with Infinite Energy! My bill this month was $43.36 (all fees included) for using 931 kwh! This compares to my April 2015 bill from Reliant for 879 kwh (that is 52 kwh less!) and my bill was $142.17! That is $98.81 less! You need to quit letting Reliant rob you blind! read more

I'm very dissatisfied with this company. I usually recieve electric bills that run between $100-$150 max, I understand I have a variable rate that can change whenever, but I just got a $200 electric bill! This is unacceptable, especially since nothing has changed from this month to last month and I only paid $98.00 last month. So I just called to find out what had changed and why I owe this ridiculous amount, and a woman answers the phone named rosa, not very concerned with my problem, and barely spoke English, so my frustration is growing because she isn't even understanding what my complaint is. So I tell her nothing has changed and I keep my thermostat the same punisher for ps year round and hardly even turn on the lights, she tells me that everyone pays more in the winter months...ok yes, I get that, but a hundred dollars more?! She was of no help, didn't seem to care at all. I'm very disappointed in this company, they really let me down, and I will definitely be spreading the word, maybe even contacting the better business bureau. read more

The worst electric company, stay away. I jump around from electric company to company so I do understand that if you miss your contract term they will charge you more than the contract rate. But not 3 times the amount of other companies. I paid $132.00 for 1 week of energy past my contract date and my new provider I pay only $151.00 for the entire month. These people are con artists and have no intention on having you resign for a longer term, I called and tried to negotiate a better deal and they were still $125 more a month. I signed up with Infinite Energy just a little over a year ago. The plan i selected was great, it was the infinite 12. High bill during summer months but nothing ridiculous and then in non-summer months my bill was super low. I was really happy with my bill so no complaints, it was the best plan ever. My plan expired a month ago and i was put on the highest variable rate they have. I do admit it was my fault for allowing it to happen but i just had too much going on during the month that renewing my plan was the least of my concerns. I called them asking them to adjust my bill to something similar to my normal usage/rate all while a good faith commitment from me for their 3 year plan. Even with me trying to commit for 3 years, they refused to adjust my bill (which was 4 to 5 times what i normally pay) and only offered me a courtesy "credit" which was laughable. I would give them a 2 star but since i did enjoy a whole year of good rates i feel they do deserve a 3 star. As they were not understanding and willing to work with me to remain a customer i will start shopping for another provider. read more

My experience with infinite energy has been terrible. From the time that I have signed up, my bills have been inaccurate and getting support from the customer service center hasn't been a pleasant experience. I was referred by a co-worker and I hate that I followed up by signing with this company. For 6 months my bill stated actual charges that were not actual at all. I paid the balances due only to get a large $400 statement for 6 months worth of re-reads. My first call to get help it took 10 mins for me to be told that the billing representatives were not available and that someone would call me back the next day. No one called me the next day, I called back and was transferred to a billing representative after a few mins of holding. The representative proceeded to research my account and tell me that I had a very "unique" situation of cross meters and although my bills showed actual usage it wasn't actual usage at all. The cross meters cause me to be back billed for 6 months (the start of my service), since it wasn't my fault, the representative broke out the lump sum payment due across 6 months as a "courtesy" to me. He then explained that I didn't need to pay anything that day to simply wait until i received my next bill and add the pro-rated agreement amount to my charges for the month. So the next month I paid the agreement amount plus the statement amount and an extra $40, only to have my lights cut off the next day. I didn't receive any termination notice (call/e-mail). I went home to a very warm apartment and a refrigerator filled with spoiled food. My call to the customer service number was time out of my work day to explain to the representative that I did as I was instructed to do and how my experience as a customer has been horrible. After holding he came back on the line offering to reconnect my service and not charge me the normal $160 reconnection fee. My contract with infinite can't end soon enough. There should be a flag in your billing system that alerts you if a customer bills list several back to back meter re-reads on one statement. A call to that customer verses a $400 statement would be better received and appreciated. If a customer calls and no one is available, don't promise a call back the next day if you are not going to provide one. Don't blame Encore for everything. Don't cut off a customers electricity that account notes clearly show a history of billing issues outside of the customer's control. Take ownership in making sure bills are appropriate and customers are given the correct information the first time. read more

My 73 year old mother signed up with this company and it has been a nightmare. First they charged a $54.00 connection fee when the service was switched. I change my electric company frequently when the contracts are up based on current rates and this is the first time I've ever seen a company charge a connection fee which they "say" was a passed on fee from the power line provider which I find dubious at best. Next they switched unit #13 instead of unit #15 in error and said that it was my mom's fault for entering #13. I went in the their site in Internet Explorer and entering her address the Auto-complete comes back as #15 with NO entry for #13 so #13 has NEVER been entered into that field on their website. Along with that they billed my mother for her electrical usage and also for unit #13 electrical usage. REALLY? Even if the incorrect unit number was entered I can't fathom in this universe or any other alternate reality that they might be living in where she would be responsible for some other persons electrical usage EVER.
