Don't switch to Txu they're use the selling points of promising you a $250 rewards after you pay your first month bill. I've paid my first month bill and it's been three months and I still haven't received the card so do not switch from your original light company to go to Txu because they are selling 250..00 rewards card as a selling point however not providing the $250 card.... I explained that I needed to evaluate a best option. He took a look at our consumption numbers and pointed me in the direction of a plan that will not only save us north of $800 per year, he also suggested the TXU Tech Protection Plan that appears to embrace those of us that work for a living.. 4) One last thing, I am all about checking the numbers and doing the math. Made a mistake changing companies , they claim $200 within 5 weeks of bill-never happened , had to call so many times and finally got the $200 card. Also promised former provider cancellation fee (my case $240) so many phone calls , promises supervisor would call back- they didn't. When I did talk to a supervisor (prior to the last request ) she promised a phone call with info the next day at 10:00 am - never happened! Also bottom line is they offer a discount half the year but when doing the math we got a bit of a break over our last provider this summer but they will get that back and more between seasons.....what a frustrating rip off! read more

This is the absolute worst experience with a power company I've ever had. to start with I had to pay 500$ just for a deposit to get service with them "totally over priced". so I paid half and was going to pay the other half when the bill was due "so I thought". my service started 5/9/25 and today 6/3/25 I got home from a long day of work and the power was cut off "haven't even had a full month sense the connect date and power was already cut off". to make things even worse I called and asked why my power was shut off without any notice, any phone call, or statement in the mail, and they said it was because the other half of the deposit. So I paid it and they said it would be cut on within two hours. 5 hours later still no power. I called again and asked what was going on and stated that I had a 8 month old baby in the house. they then said it won't be cut back on for 48 hours "keep in mind that I have a smart meter". they stated that they sent a letter in the mail on 5/12/25 about disconnecting the power which they didn't and I had just moved on on 5/9/25. so basically they are stating that three days after the connection date they where already sending notice to shut power off after 3 days!!!! Claiming they gave sufficient notice to turn off the power. I will take further action and report them to the public utility commission of Texas, and I will also contact my lawyer on this matter. I would highly recommend to any person to avoid this company and go somewhere else. This company is cut throat, dishonest, Unprofessional, And is not loyal to their customers needs. Buyer beware of the bait and switch regarding pricing. I signed up for one price and they are charging me $0.10 more per kw. When I called to discuss, there was a lot of gibberish being spouted at me regarding free nights. So, if you have free nights, they say you are getting a discount but are still charging more for regular usage. This doesn't make sense, and it seems the object of customer service is to confuse the consumer. While I thought I did my research, I must have missed the invisible fine print. I put my account on autopay to have my bills come out without stressing about due dates. The bill is always due on the 25th. Every month they draft it on the 24th and it goes through. This month they drafted the money from my bank on the 17th without notifying me until after the money Was gone. I had another bill ready to come out and it was also set to autopay. so of course they over drafted the account, and charged me a return fee. I now have to repay the other bill and I've lost money. No compensation on their behalf. They just say they can take the money 5 days early since I pre authorized it when I signed up for auto pay. wth is the point of the due date if they just take the money whenever they want?!? No other company auto drafts my account a week prior to when it's due. Also they recommended a service to me that would lower my bill. I started off paying a really cheap price and they just keep raising the bill every month. I unplug tvs, and lamps when I'm not using them and yet the bill goes higher. They randomly text me and tell me I used more energy than normal when I'm doing the same things I always do. I even keep my heat on 63-65 during these cold winter months to lower the bill and still the price goes up. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

TXU is by far the WORST company with the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. My bill isn't even set for a specific day of the month. For a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom townhouse, I have not received a bill under $250 a MONTH, most have been over $300, in SIX months. I would not recommend TXU to anyone unless they want high bills and poor customer service. I was told that they take a specific payment method by multiple people, when trying to make that payment I was then told they didn't take the payment method they just told me that they take. There are 2-3 TDU charges per Kw, 2 of them are included in the rate they give you and 1 of them is not. This is why the bill is so hi... there is a base fee of 4.25 and then 3 TDU charges that are supposed to be included in the rate quoted. I changed to frontier and so far all the rates are bundled under the rate actually quoted. I ran the math on both and i am now paying less even through i was quoted the exact same rate on both. .121. I don't know why this is but I can't afford TXU. read more

I called to ask about their rates. That is all I wanted to know as I was comparing prices that a normal person would do before obligating themselves to a company. They were very aggressive for me to sign with them. I eventually hung up on the agent after deciding I could no longer disconnect politely. He called back three times and I hung up on him three times and told him to stop harassing me. Today, I received another phone call and I hung up again. I had to block them. I was under the impression that my service was moved to my new address sorry free. I was never informed it was not moved, not so much as an email to let me know that my account was being closed. Upon many DAYS of dealing with customer service I was told I had to pay a 300 dollar deposit to restart my service. Even though I've been with TXU for over a year with not so much as a disconnect notice. Then they moved it down to 90 dollars to restart service after another day of back and forth, only I shouldn't have to pay anything because I shouldn't be restarting anything I should have had my service transferred at the very least notified that there was a problem with the relocation. But instead my account was closed with no notification. I now have to pay over 100 for less than a month to my apartment because I've been unknowingly on their bill. Thanks TXU. read more

I would look to any other energy provider before you do business with TXU Energy. I rarely leave reviews but their shady business practices leave me no other choice and I have already filed a complaint with the BBB as well. I purchased a new vacant duplex back in march and started service on both sides with TXU Energy. When my first tenant moved in to one of the vacant sides, they used a different energy provider but my account for that side was automatically closed and I only had one account remaining for the correct address on the vacant side. My next bill arrived and it was 5x higher than my previous month ($240 for a vacant unit) which made no sense as I have the thermostat off and only appliances plugged in. I called TXU energy to inform them and after many back and forth phone calls and long conversations with many unhelpful reps they submitted a ticket and told me it could take up to 21 days for them to get back to me. I told them I did not want to continue to pay if it was charging me high energy usage and they said not to close my account and they would take care of it. This advise cost me an additional $100 in energy usage and after a week or so of no response I called to close my account to prevent further charges. I finally got a call 3 weeks later from their resolutions team saying they investigated my claim and the charges were correct. That's it! No explanation and nothing further I could do. He even made a point to try to blame my tenant for them not using TXU as their energy provider. Then most deceiving of all, the original bill with the charges had the correct vacant unit address on it, but when I went to look at the final bill with the $240 + the $100 in additional charges that accrued during the investigation, TXU had switched the address to the unit that was occupied! Same account number and everything to make it look like I was paying for an occupied unit. I would advise anyone reading this to not do business with this company. read more

TXU is somehow still in business after scamming what appears to be soooooo many people. I bought a business and the prior owner was paying less than $100/mo through Reliant. For whatever reason I went with TXU, but they don't tell you about the base charges and delivery charges that are astronomical and variable. And somehow the kW/h's used just keep going up and up and up even though I am at the business only 1 day a month as now I'm running it remotely. The old owner was there nearly every day. Someone used my information to obtain service in Texas, I live in Atlanta, GA and have never lived in Texas. I was told all the person did was go online and apply for service and the individual was never asked to provide an ID or fill out a credit application to obtain service. When I asked what evidence they have that I'm the one who opened up this account, (photo ID, social security card, signature) I was told all the person had to have was my Name and social security number. Now they want me to prove to them that I'm not this person, I was told that I could send them a copy of my W2 form and or a copy of my mortgage or any bill that show that i live in Georgia from the time this person used my information.
