I was a little hesitant starting this program. First reason being that this was no small cost to me. Second being that I was honestly a little worried that the program would be too rough for my comfort when it came to training techniques used. My pup and I just wrapped up this program and not only is it worth every single penny (by week 4 I already felt like I had gotten more than my moneys worth), but the training was nothing like I feared it would be, and she's going to be the happiest dog in the world now that I know she'll behave and I can take her *literally* anywhere with me. One thing that I think makes this program so great is that everything is about real life. It's not how your dog 'should' be, it's all about how they can help you reach your goals. I was charged $6,000 to train my German Shepherd and husky. They did absolutely NOTHING. My dogs were returned to me with the exact same bad behaviors as I dropped them off with that I was promised would be fixed. Liars. Scam artists. Don't give them your money unless you're a stay at home person who doesn't work and has hours of time on your hands to train your dogs after the supposedly trained them for you but actually did nothing. I was promised all of their bad behaviors would be trained away then when I got them back I got a ten minute tutorial on how to use the e collar and told I would have to go back to other group trainings that are only on Saturday's, my busiest day at work during the week. I'm a single guy with a very busy job. Thought I would get my trained dogs back. Wrong. My dogs were returned to me exactly as I let them and I was told I had to train them myself more. I chose the one on one private training, and was very disappointed with the classes, especially when we got to the lesson when we got the e collars and our trainer didn't explain how to make sure they were set properly. So when I needed them to work, they didn't, at all! The controller had been set on 15 prior to us going to the park, and after an incident that resulted in a dog fight and myself getting bit on all my fingers, I looked at the controller after it was over and it was on zero! There is a way to lock the settings into place, which is very important, but we were told " I didn't need to know about any of the buttons other than the ones that zap your dogs" so the settings, and how to lock the settings, I don't need to know about this, REALLY? very irresponsible!!! Also I had 2 dogs in their private training but didn't get a longer class time or extra classes, and at $200 a class, I expected we would be working my dogs the entire time and somewhere like a park, not the trainer's tiny yard. You only get the personal trainer every other week, on the off weeks you pay to watch a video , the ones I watched before the dog fight incident, were boring and disappointing as well. I quit the training after the 3rd class, just don't feel the videos and the very little time with the trainer is worth what they charge. 35-40 minutes every other week with the trainer and the videos are not worth $200 per week, the classes should be longer, I feel, Plus the lack of information for the e collars I feel was tremendously irresponsible, I'm lucky that my hand getting bit was all that happened, it could have been much worse. Plus they want me to pay for the 3rd class, they are giving me half off, although they know I had to go to the E.R. For my hand and the vet as well since my dogs eye was bit in this fight that could have been avoided if the e collars had been working. So this is just my experience with this company, one more thing, when I asked if there was an office or facility to make payments to, they said no, and wanted credit card info or, I asked if I could Venmo, but the account they gave to do that was not to ty the dog guy or anything like that, just someone's name, that wasn't ty either so I didn't know who I was sending money to, I paid cash to my trainer and never got a receipt for that, so all in all not a positive experience. read more

We are very pleased with the training and change on our Pete! He was adopted from a shelter when he was sick and docile. After getting him home and realizing that he was sick, we took him to the vet who successfully treated him. Healthy Pete was not docile. He was highly reactive and very aggressive. At the evaluation Ty asked us to muzzle him. After the full course and then some, Pete is very responsible be to our commands. Even our kids feel like he is under control with them. Extremely poor business. We wanted to get a service dog for our son. He told us he could find one for us train the dog. After my son chose a dog and weeks of training it was clear that the dog was not able to be a service animal. Ty finally made us take the dog knowing that he wasn't fit to help my son. The dog was in bad shape when we got him. He had horrible worms and was not in good health. After doing a bit of research we found out the dog came from a shelter and nothing was even known about his personality. On top of that he charged us more after we had paid the amount that was agreed upon. His training tactics have left us with a dog that is extremely insecure and dog aggressive. Do NOT send your dogs here! 5 years ago I sent my two Great Danes here because I had a neighbor that was complaining about my pups and got me charged with dog barking which resulted in a a charge of two class b misdemeanors. I paid them over 3 thousand dollars. I think it was about 3400. These dogs were my babies. I thought I had done all my research. However, once my dogs came home, they were terrified! One of my dogs appeared to have had a lobotomy. She was lifeless. Furthermore, she appeared to have been injured. Her left eye was red and she favored her left side. I asked her trainer about it and he said he had given them a bath and maybe she got soap in her eye. When she was returned to me I seriously thought I was going to have to take her to the ER. Though my trainer, never told me, I suspect my dog was hit by a car. To this day she is terrified of vehicles, which she never was before going to this place. I put my dog into their boot camp over a year ago. I thought I knew what I was in for. I didn't. This was our 5th trainer. All but 1 were private trainers. My Border Collie snapped and went from going to daycare and hiking off leash to severe dog-dog aggression. She was attacking our other dog at least monthly and there was blood drawn pretty much every time. Joe was very honest after the first week and told us that she wasn't progressing the same as most dogs. By the fourth week, he told us she was an atypical case; the dogs he trusted still did not trust her. She did not adapt. It seemed she could not live with another dog. After the boot camp I will be the first to admit that I sucked as an owner. I couldn't do the e-collar. I took her to a few classes and she was obedient, which I know I should have cared about but I didn't. I didn't want her to obey my every command, I just didn't want my other dog (and my husband and I) to live in fear of the next attack. I probably would not have done boot camp if I had gone through the e-collar training before rather than after. I met the owner in passing, once, and it was a more abrupt and opinionated interaction than I would have liked. After the first couple of weeks of boot camp I was desperately looking to find her a new home. So why 5 stars? I had spent over $5,000 on trying to get this dog to not injure my other dog (that's before boot camp). Since boot camp, she has only attacked our other dog once and it was because the house-sitter broke the rules so she was competing for human food. I have to be cognizant of her body language but overall, I feel the impossible happened. I went from constant fear and treating my other dogs wounds on a regular basis to only having one altercation and skin was not broken. So if you feel you have a "lost cause" hang in there and commit to the boot camp. We still have high maintenance dogs but they are happy dogs, which is all we wanted and worked for for 5 years. read more

I contacted Ty the Dog Guy about getting a service dog back in January of this year. They found a young puppy labradoodle in March (but didn't tell me where she came from) that was too young to be trained at the time they found her. They had her in a foster home until she was almost 1 year old. They started training her in July. They said it was approximately a 6-week program, so I knew that by the time they were finished with the bulk of her training (not including maintenance training), I would be having my wedding and traveling out of town for my honeymoon and for work. They were willing to work with me on the pickup date in September. That's one of three reasons this place gets two stars instead of one. The second reason is that my dog will actually obey most of the time; however, she will not do one of the major things she was supposed to be trained to do. The third reason is that the lady who worked with my dog was really nice and explained most things very well to me. The main reason I am not giving more than two stars is that my dog was under-nourished and poorly taken care of. When I picked her up, she was skin and bones. She only weighed 13 pounds! She should be between 15 and 20! They'd had her on a reward-only diet. All they fed her was hot dogs. They called me before I came to pick her up to ask me if I wanted to have her groomed. I agreed, thinking she would be getting a bath and getting brushed, and maybe a little trim. When I picked her up, I didn't even recognize her because they had shaved off ALL her hair. Apparently it had become so matted from not being brushed by personnel that they decided to shave it all off. They charged me $60 for this service. On top of that, when they shaved her, they scraped the skin off the tips of her ears (and her teats), and she dealt with nickel-size scabs on both ears for more than a month afterward! Hair is only just barely starting to grow back on the tips of her ears. We had to take her to the vet because she started throwing up every morning. She wasn't throwing up food--only bile. This is because of switching her over from eating little bits of hotdog all througout the day to eating actual dog food on an established schedule. As a result, we had to give her a special medication for 2 weeks and we have to keep her on a prescription diet for stomach sensitivity. But what really tipped me over the edge on whether or not to write a review was this: they did not get her veterinary records from the previous owner. They allowed a dog to come in and stay in their dog boarding facility who was not verified spayed or vaccinated. They couldn't even tell me if she was spayed or vaccinated! But here's why I'm really writing the review--for any of you dog owners thinking of boarding your dogs here--apparently they don't care if everyone's dog is vaccinated for rabies, distemper, or parvo. They also don't seem to care if dogs are spayed or neutered. So you're really taking your chances if your dog is not fixed. And communicable diseases for everyone! I'm supposed to bring my dog back for maintenance training. I don't ever want her to go back there at all, even if I'm there with her. As for me, I had to pay $3500 for basic training (since she doesn't actually perform the task she was supposed to perform), $60 for a hack-grooming-job, $350 and rising for vet costs related to the poor care she received, $35 for initial vaccinations and $28 for boosters, and whatever the heck it's going to cost me to get her spayed. read more

While Ty and I went to grab lunch, I left my dog Jarvis in daycare. Ty's staff were friendly, but more importantly, they were knowledgeable and handled my dog in a proper manner, ensuring he walked properly on lead and yielded at thresholds. Just went for a free evaluation. We got there 20 minutes early. It was awkward getting to the side door and just before I went to open the door someone who worked there opened it and put a little dog out, NOT on a lease, to go potty. My dog is horrible with other dogs and that is the main reason we were there. I waited for her to finish with the little dog and go in. When I opened the door I was greeted by a big dog and backed away. A male employee came out and asked what he could help us with. I gave him my name and why we were there. He said there were a lot of dogs inside and they would get ready for us. We walked around and after 15 minutes trying to find shade on the hot asphalt in 98 degree weather, my dog and I decided this was not the place for us and left. Maybe they are great with their training but if I can't even get past the front door, it just won't work for us. read more

If I could give this a worse review than a 1-star, I would. I have a mini Piebald Dachshund. He is now a year old. Jessica Jensen was his trainer. I got my puppy back after paying $3500 for a six week "Boot Camp". She strongly suggested I keep him the full six weeks so she could finish training him after I found out what the cost was. Since I've had him back, I've followed the training techniques she taught me, but in NO way see how it was even worth money, let alone $3500 worth of training. I couldn't leave him in his kennel because I live in a complex. When I would try the first few weeks having him back he ended up hurting himself. When I picked him up, his ear was bleeding, something Jessica called "Happy Ear". I've talked to trainers, as well as the vet when I had to take him for reopening the cut he got while he was with Jessica asking about "Happy Ear". It can't even be found on Google. There is no such thing. She came to my apartment to show me how to use the e-collar. When she walked up my dog barked with aggression and fear. I asked why he was doing that and what she would do to stop it. He had never done that before. He's a 12 lbs. puppy and she yanked him off all four feet to the point he cried. That is inhumane! I don't know if it is her method, or Ty's, but it is wrong and cruel. There are a lot of other ways to train than with that type of punishment. I tried the kennel for him while I went and worked out for about an hour. He barks the entire time, and doesn't calm down because of the anxiety. When I came in one morning, he had blood all over from the kennel and it ran all through the apartment because the hole in his ear wouldn't heal. He had anxiety and hurt himself trying to get out. He shows every sign of being neglected and abused. He is now on medication to help with the anxiety and aggression. I would NOT recommend using Jessica or Ty the Dog guy. My dog was NEVER aggressive, nor did he have anxiety before her "Boot Camp". I can't even leave him alone without him being on meds, and I only dare workout for an hour in fear of being turned in by my neighbors. The meds are an additional cost from the $3500 I paid for getting a better trained dog. I think the methods are abusive, and they should be closed down if this is the outcome after six weeks. read more

I tried buying a book from this company. My credit card was charged and I did not receive any invoice or receipt from the payment processor. I had no idea what i was being charged for. I also signed up for an offer of $1 for a 3 day trial period for an e-course on 60 days to a better dog. I still have no idea what happened there, because it never gave me any information then or later, and I could not access it on the website ...also it said it would charge my credit card in 3 days for more money if i didn't cancel... I had no idea what i was being charged for, how much would be charged or when the 3 days was up.) I clicked on the link to the website and there was no info there. When I sent an e-mail asking for this information, Krysta the office manager said she was confused why I wanted a receipt. Then she cancelled a scheduled phone appointment for which cleared my schedule without consulting me. I don't know if the dog training program is good or not. My 1.5 yo Wheaten Terrier, "Willett", was diagnosed with a Liver Shunt in July 2018. Basically, a vessel bypasses the liver, and therefore, the toxins in the blood do not get filtered out and go to the dog's brain. One of the side effects is the onset of aggression (and in his case with strangers in our home). While Willett had had corrective surgery, he was still having some of the residual mental health issues associated with the condition after the surgery. When we moved from the Bay Area to Park City, I was looking for a bootcamp to help Willett through his fear. I am so glad we found Ty the Dog Guy and Dayna. We now have a door protocol that calms Willett down when someone knocks or rings the door bell, and just this week, Willett allowed the furniture repair man to pet him. While we're still working on the post-bootcamp follow through, WIllett has made great progress, and we'll continue to hone the correct behavior through our private lessons that come with the bootcamp package. Ty and his GREAT group of helpers/trainers/assistants ROCK! They really care about each and every dog there. They have small groups for the outdoor play so they can watch for any potential problems and correct them before it happens. That means your dog and others are learning the correct behavior. You don't get that with other day cares. Other places just let your dog run free and if another dog starts a fight.. well, you have to hope that they see it start or your dog will be blamed for it and asked to leave. Jessica Jenson, our trainer, did wonders with Scout! Scout was out of control, would run away when given the chance, and was aggressive to other dogs. We didn't know what to do so we heard about Ty The Dog Guy and decided to give it a chance. Seriously, after two training sessions Scout stopped running away and was manageable! We completed the 60 days and now go to their group training at parks. Scout is a completely different dog, I am so grateful for everything Jessica taught Scout and myself. I entered a contest for free dog daycare for life. told all my friends and family about it and had them vote (got "ty the dog guy" business our there). I won, which I was super excited about and I let everyone know I won. After a little over 3 months of free daycare they decided they were going to shut daycare down. I called to talk to the owner and he never returned my call. I emailed him twice and never heard anything, but kept receiving automated messages about dog training. I called to talk to the owner again and the guy on the phone said "He will be busy for the next few weeks, was there something he could help me with." I asked if I could trade free daycare for free or discounted training. He said "No it was just a promotional offer." I find it strange they would offer daycare for life and end it after 3 months. I also don't like that I could never get ahold of the owner. Makes me question how their lifetime guarantee works after training? We were thinking of purchasing training, but not after this experience. Especially, for how expensive it is. read more

The best training method ever. My dog loved the training sessions and he loved the practice. He's a very large, hyperactive, male Golden Retriever who loved to chase deer! I ended up getting the full package and worked with Dana, the best trainer ever. She taught me what to do and expected me to do the training - which is exactly as it should be. She could always get him to do what he should be doing, but it took a long time and a lot of coaching from Dana for me to learn how to give him correct signals and consistently expect him to obey. She worked wonders with us both and people on the trail and at home tell me how amazingly well trained he is!! Worth every penny and all the effort for a lifelong well behaved friend. read more
