We absolutely loved bringing MacGuyver to Camp Bow Wow. He was always treated as if he were one of the caretaker's own pets. We always felt so comfortable bringing him there. The caretakers write little notes about your dog, make little gifts with your dog's picture... it's incredibly nurturing. We highly recommend using Camp Bow Wow. Unfortunately, we moved to the Bay Area and we cannot use Camp Bow Wow anymore. But if we are ever in Salt Lake City again we'll definitely stop by to say hello and let him be loved by everyone at the Camp. read more

I came here with my puppy for their puppy class. I would give the class 4 stars. I felt the class was very useful and he really enjoyed it. However, I want to point out that my trainer told us we could text her with any concerns or questions. I texted her on four separate occasions and she never once answered me. I even asked her if there was a better way to get ahold of her and nothing. Very disappointed in her communication style. read more

Cameras los connection at around 7pm on Saturday and never regained connection after we picked them up on Sunday morning. Our two dogs were very scared and acting strange when we picked them up. When raising my hands to give him a hug he burrowed down like if he was hit which he NEVER acted like before. We asked the staff about the camera connections and were met with giggles and said the cameras are automatic and they can't control them. Would not recommend. Our dog came back from day care with a sore on his face. It appears he was bit or clawed at. Our dog was also whimpering the entire drive home. When asked about it they said they had no knowledge of anything happening and didn't seem to show any sort of concern or remorse. Although we mostly had a good experience with our difficult dog, I feel she was too small to be put with the bigger dogs and there seems to be no limit on how many dogs are grouped together for playtime with only one human supervisor (the potential for a serious issue just waiting to happen). If you can't bring your dog back for whatever reason, don't plan on getting a refund because you've already 'partially used your package' (even though you can't get an accounting to verify yourself and they don't provide any documentation of their policies when you sign up), apparently purchased packages expire after one year so you forfeit any monies you've paid, and the manager's version of customer service is to ignore you. read more

Hiding fees all the time. They are not transparent with the payment. They overcharge every time you pick up your dog. No one knows anything. The manager never replies, and the workers don't know anything that is happening there. They push the dogs with brooms and hose them down with cold water. My dog got sick twice there because of their negligence. They have no idea what is on their website; you call and ask for a service, and they say yes to everything. I would not recommend this place. Our 6 mo old Cavapoo was with them for 4 hours and nearly was injured as there facilities are not aligned appropriately for dogs. We did our homework and took our dog in for an interview as well as some additional short-term day visits so she could get used to the facility before we left her for vacation. The staff was friendly and the facility looked clean when I toured. Once we left her for our vacation, the cameras worked intermittently, and we never saw our dog on them. When we called about this a few days later, we were told that she had been coughing and was isolated from the other dogs. We checked back two days later, and she was still coughing and not feeling well. We cut our vacation short and went and picked her up. At this point, she was not able to breathe through her nose well, was sneezing out brown goop, coughing a lot, and was quite lethargic. We immediately took her to the vet and got her on anabiotics. She seemed quite traumatized by the experience. I understand that it is not uncommon for dogs to get kennel cough in this type of setting, but we were never notified or given any sort of helpful reports. So my two biggest complaints are lack of communication and cameras that don't work consistently. I feel like they should've initiated the calls and let us know what was going on. I have never written a review or am one to complain but this situation is unacceptable. We took our 2 dogs here for boarding and thought everything was going great. I called to check in several times and they gave vague but positive updates so I felt ok about it. When we went to pick up our dogs I knew immediately something was off with one of them. When we got him home he could barely walk and had a very obvious limp with a gash on his leg. By morning, his leg was completely blown up swollen. By the evening, he had a fever and was in severe discomfort also having discharge coming out of his genitals, was shaking while being very lethargic. We took him to the vet asap and his leg had to be drained as it had abscessed caused by infection that had went internal from being left untreated. After talking to the manager, it was admitted that there was an altercation we were not informed of and it was also admitted that they failed to check him for wounds as much as their protocol calls for. We were given a very tiny refund compared to what we paid that doesn't even cover his vet bill. We are not upset that there was a fight, we get that things happen, we are upset that they neglected to tell us or check him, so he was not treated appropriately until it was too late and got infected. When I expressed this, she just told us well we signed the form so they couldn't do anything else. I would totally get that if they followed protocol but at what point can they be held accountable? Our dog is in awful shape and is going to need around the clock care for a while. Very disappointed in the teams communication and accountability. We are very heart broken for our dog. read more

I would, in no way, recommend taking your dog to Camp Bow Wow. I only took my dog for five day care visits and had a bad experience almost every time. To begin, I bought a package that was offered after my dog's interview. This package (the "interview day discount") was listed on the paper I received that day as "5 days of daycare & 1 bath for $130" (photo attached). The worker there told me that was FULL days, as Camp Bow Wow splits up daycare into half (less than 5 hours) and full (greater than 5 hours) days. Given this, I planned to bring my dog and leave him for at least five hours in order to get my money's worth. All this was fine after his first day at daycare. Then, at the second day of daycare, they inform me that I owe money since my dog stayed a full day last time. I informed them that I have a package. They proceed to ask me what package and how much I paid for it (why couldn't they see that on their system?). They end up telling me that I paid for a half day package and that I need to pay the difference. I begrudgingly do so, and then send an email later detailing the situation to the manager(s), especially given that the piece of paper with the package on it just said "5 days of daycare." Any logical person would assume this is full days. I never received a response and I still haven't to this point, a month later. Beyond this situation, there are several reasons I would advise caution to anyone considering Camp Bow Wow: 1. When watching the cameras in the daycare, I often saw that a whole group of dogs would be left in an area alone. Additionally, the workers would rarely pay much attention to the dogs. I often saw biting and humping that they didn't even see or do anything about as they would be talking to coworkers and not paying attention. 2. There was more than one occasion when the workers would aggressively pull my dog's leash with a collar on. I would have to tell them to stop; they apparently saw nothing wrong with this. It worries me to know that, if they would do this right in front of me, what are they doing when owners aren't there?! 3. They have cameras to watch your dog while they're at daycare, but they don't work more than they do work. 4. There was a new person working there every time I walked in, and they all look like high schoolers. This isn't bad in and of itself, but they clearly didn't know what they were doing as was evidenced by being told I owe something new every time I picked my dog up. 5. I had my dog bathed once, and they gave him back to me still wet in the winter with it 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Overall, this is a large corporation with many locations throughout the country. As with any company with so many locations and employees, they don't care much about individual customers. And given that the owners are not on the premise, there is little to no surveillance regarding how the location is being run. I would strongly recommend considering somewhere that is locally owned. They are going to care more and treat your dog better than this company. read more

My dog stayed there for one night. She is a rescue that I adopted two and a half years ago. She has separation anxiety issues. Camp bow wow has cameras for every activities area. I dropped her off early in the morning. I checked the cameras later on that day every ten minutes while traveling with my business partner. He was driving. Not ONCE did they try to settle my dog down as she was anxiously pacing around the compound. I did not see ANYBODY INTERACT with any of the dogs. It was more important to visit with other employees than to interact with any dogs. My dog had a half-hour play time in the afternoon. They chased her to catch her because she was afraid of them. They had not made contact with her physically at all as I mentioned earlier. I looked at other cameras to see what the protocal was in other compounds at this miserable company. I noticed a small dog trying to get out of the enclosure because she was alone and was LONELY. These people DON'T care about the dogs. And they are incredibly rude. read more

We're from California traveling to Utah to go snowboarding so we needed to drop the babies off at daycare. The online application for the camper interview was easy and very thorough. It shows they really care about your dogs and to get as much information on them as possible. We also got photo updates for the pups day at daycare which is really nice. The pups got a certificate for passing the interview process which I thought was cute. The staff here cares about your pets and their safety. The interview process was fairly quick and really nice. They introduce your dogs to a couple of dogs to make sure everyone gets along. We also received a welcome packet for newcomers which is nice. It recommended a couple of hiking trails so that saves us time from researching dog friendly trails. Would recommend 5/5 and will be back if we are ever in town again. read more

If I ever want to check in on my pups and don't see them on the cameras (they sometime hide out of site from the cams) they aren't bothered by me calling to do a check in. I cannot recommend this Camp Bow Wow location. I visited in person to check the location (I'm new to dog daycare and boarding). I spoke with the owner, and had a nice tour of the site. It was busy, but seamed fine. The online application is not compatible with iOS, so I filled out the application in person and made a reservation for a single day care as well as boarding for an upcoming vacation. None of our information, nor our reservations were entered into the system. Very poor record keeping. This location is obviously overwhelmed and not staffed to the level they need to be to care for as many dogs they accept through reservations. read more

We've been on the hunt for a reliable and safe doggy daycare to bring our girls to during the summer months when outdoor exercise is difficult due to heat and have had multiple interviews at varying daycares. The staff are friendly and willing to take the time to answer all your questions. I liked that they did the temperament test one of our dogs at a time. I haven't seen this done at other facilities, and you get to watch the entire test before they can stay the entire day. My only hesitancy on CBW is the size of the play areas. When I checked in via web cams there were what appeared to be roughly 20-30 dogs in a single play area. I'm curious to know why more play areas aren't utilized. Even smaller draw back was no facility tour, but I'm assuming that was due to our drop off time and it being a bit busy with all the pups rolling in. :-) Overall we're happy and purchased the interview day package! read more

When I did take my dog in for his interview, three different employees called him a different name (none of those were his actual name). So that made me kind of sad. I think if your goal is to simply have your dog returned to you alive, this place is fine. I called them several times before our trip from DC to SLC to set up an assessment appointment and a birding stay. I had to call several times because I never felt comfortable after hanging up-- especially since they could never locate my bookings nor immunization records consistently. I also called a few times once we got into SLC to make sure everything was on the up and up. Nope. Same issues. Who are you? When are you coming in? Sometimes they could find the immunization email, sometimes not. Depended on who answered the phone. When we showed up for the scheduled assessment they couldn't locate our forms or immunization records-- all of which I took care to deal with before driving cross country. This did not instill a lot of confidence. Eventually, after re-filling everything out on paper it was discovered they had our last name wrong. ?? When the handler came to take the dogs back for their interviews, they hadn't bothered to ask or learn the names or sexes of our dogs. The entire time we were there-- almost an hour-- there was constant yelling at dogs (or one in particular) and one dog (probably the same) was pulled off another. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't think the handlers are well trained in dog correction methods. We did ask a customer how he liked Camp Bow Wow and he was complimentary. We left the dogs long enough to find another boarding option that we were comfortable with. We chose CBW initially because of the rave reviews online. I'm sure our dogs would have survived their stay there, but it seemed like a stressful situation-- for them and me. It's possible if the customer service leading up to the actual interview had been more tight, it would have been a better experience, but. No thank you. read more

Camp Bow Wow is a life saver! I started with their 60 minute $15 puppy playtime, and ended up bringing her here for some days of work-from-home sanity. These guys all know Dottie by name, and they've made it really fun for her. I was worried, but the cameras on them all day give me a lot of relief. There is always someone around too. One of the guys even dances sometimes - always makes me smile. I'm in pretty deep with these guys, ha! Life keeps getting busy, and I wanted some extra help with some puppy training as well - loose leash walking for English Setters will always be hard for them. I bought a 5 pack of 30 minute sessions that we just completed, and it's really been a huge help! They pull her out for her sessions while she's at daycare, and they provide the treats and a little daily report card. Deeper I go - my other dog was curious about daycare, and I let him go thinking there was no way he'd like it. He absolutely loves it! He's a little older and I worried about him injuring himself or over exerting, but since going he's become more agile again, and seems to enjoy the stimulation. I never would have thought that would happen - he's always attached to my side. This camp bow wow does some other fun stuff around the holidays - a gift drawing at xmas, donations to local shelters of goods, valentines day decorations and exchanges (for the dogs) - so cute! So fun! My only constructive feedback - I wish the doggos had some of those basic raised beds around the edge to lay on and not be in the play zone on the ground. They lost my paperwork multiple times! 3 times is too many times for me to have to fill out paperwork. Aubrie told me she was the manager and she didn't have anyone above her that she reports to. When I asked why her card says "assistant manager" she then refused to give me any other info of anyone else to call. My dog was there for over 24 hours and only was given 1/2 of ONE of her feedings. When we called to see how she was doing we were told she was doing great and has been eating great. My dog was only seen on camera 2 times in the whole time she was there. Camera was consistently checked every hour! Camp bow wow employees did not call me or my emergency contact! Aubrie told me they called me and left a vm but my vm isn't and never has been set up. They lied! I asked to see proof of whether my dog was out and about with the other dogs and Aubrie told me she couldn't show me. She had to talk to her other managers first to see if it was okay. Only bring your dog here if you want them to be neglected and starved for their stay! I am still waiting on a call back from anyone to resolve this issue! read more

Camp Bow Wow is NOT a place for high energy dogs. The staff is overall friendly and they have big boarding kennels. However if you have a high energy dog take them somewhere else. -unorganized, you might not get your stuff back due to a mix up or it may be destroyed and given back to you with no explanation of why the item has been destroyed. -do not allow high energy dogs to release all of their energy, as promised all over their website. -will use cookie cutter "bad dog" behaviors that you or trainer that's has worked with your dog since he was a puppy has never seen exhibited from your dog as an excuse if they do not want your dog to come back unless "corrected" by their trainer (when you ask for the behavior one employee will tell you one thing and another will tell you something on the opposite of the spectrum) -breed shames -has way too many dogs at once -poor communication with owners. You have to call them to figure out why your dog is being put in his kennel all day. I don't want to be that lady that thinks her dog can do no wrong, but I think they are just not equipped to handle high energy dogs or at least they don't want to. I get that you are a business and you don't want to come out and say "we can't handle high energy dogs" because you would lose money and your whole business model is that dogs get to play with other dogs, but please find a different way of telling the owners instead of making up a behavior for the dog. read more

Our dog stayed for an overnight stay and they had a report when we picked him up. The prices are extremely reasonable. I have debated writing this review for several days. I have been a Camp Bow Wow fan and customer for almost a year now. Their staff are nice, however I think their business has grown outside their ability to care for their customers. I started my declining opinion when I noticed how bad the place smelled every time I went in there. I know it is full of animals but it smells like a homeless shelter. My dogs who are bathed weekly leave there stinky so bad I can hardly wait to get them home. After one recent visit I paid to have them bath them and when I picked them up, they still stunk and I had to rebath them. I am paying for my dogs to be pampered and loved. After our last visit though, we won't we be returning. My dogs are my babies and I hate having to leave them anywhere but unfortunately we travel a lot and don't have family here in Utah. My Westie has been sick since we picked her and my Cairn up last week from Camp Bow Wow. We have already spent $200 at the vet...which is not the point. The point is she got sick there. When we picked up her on Tuesday the girl at the counter said that when they came in that morning they found vomit in their cage (we always keep them in the same area because Reese and Izzie love each other and are siblings). The girl said they didn't know which one had thrown up. She also went on to tell us that on Sunday they had a dog that started coughing and they tested the dog which turned up positive for KENNEL COUGH. She said to watch our dogs and if they got sick and we went to the vet to call them. No one called us to tell us there was an issue or a sick dog on their premises. Within an hour of leaving it was apparent that Izzie wasn't ok. We went to the vet and it wasn't KENNEL COUGH. We called Camp Bow Wow and the manager got on the phone. She told us that Izzie was the one throwing up. I asked why they weren't honest when we picked up our dogs. She said that the girl helping us might not have known. She said they were sorry. Izzie stopped throwing up a day later but still has diarrhea and it looks like another vet visit is in order. My vet because she is wonderful, professional and caring called to check on Izzie. To date no one from Camp Bow Wow has called. We have been a customer there for almost a year and have spent a lot of money (well over a thousand dollars) to have them "care" for our dogs. IF THIS ISN'T POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. I hate writing bad reviews....I am not much of a complainer, however I don't want someone using this business without knowing of our experience. I know animals get sick and Camp Bow Wow can't control all of that. They require proof of updated shots, etc. so I wonder how a dog positive with KENNEL COUGH made it passed their screening process? I wonder if the dirty, urine smell was an indicator of poor cleaning practices? I believe that if they really cared someone would have called to check on Izzie. There are other options in SLC...we will be checking them out. read more

Camp Bow Wow is a great place for us and our dog. Our dog is very playful and tireless. When she comes home from camp, she is happy, thirsty, and ready for a long rest. In my experience, the staff was quick, friendly, and organized. They received my dog warmly. My dog ate well, rested well, and they even wrote some notes about how well she played with other dogs. I like this place and am returning. As an aside--I wish there were more cameras. I do like that they have surveillance of the dogs during playtime, but it's hard to pick out my own because there are so many dogs and more than a few are black like mine. read more

Still 5 stars from me, Teddy is loving his daycare. He gets exited as soon as we pull up and starts wagging his curly nub a hundred miles a minute. When we bring him home at the end of a long day of play he is completely and utterly exhausted, which is what we were hoping for. He is no longer bored during the day and tearing up the garbage and eating my high heels. I love the fact that I can watch him on the web am while I'm at work, but it was becoming an issue so I had to cut myself off. Until I discovered they have an iPhone app for the webcam and my addiction started up allover again. This turned into kind of a fun thing with my out of state family, I call them when I'm going to pick him up so they can look at the lobby cam and I give them a wave hello. Silly, but we like it. I think their playground is a little bare but the dogs don't seem to mind. The price was right and we're all happy. read more

I just moved to Salt Lake City three weeks ago. Based on a referral, I took my 5 month old St Bernard puppy, Gelsey, to another dog day care. Gelsey has been going to puppy school since she was 11 weeks old. I knew there was a problem when she didn't want to go in the place and a few times she jumped on me as they were taking her into the dog area. Several days later I showed up unannounced and saw them grab her by the scruff and drag her to the exit. The next day day I witnessed the same thing again but this time as she was entering. I almost killed the guy. That was her last day there. Everyone who meets her loves Gelsey. She is extremely easy to get along with, plays well with others, shares her toys, and is very obedient. A dog show friend recommended Camp Bow Wow so I took her for an interview and inspected the place. The staff was very friendly and upbeat. Because of her previous experience, I was afraid she wouldn't like it. HA!!! She LOVED it!!! So I went ahead and bought a ten day pass. This has been her first full week. I was going to wait to write this review except for what happened this morning. Gelsey made me late for work this morning because when she saw her snap collar she got so excited it was impossible to put it on. Then she ran for the car and couldn't wait to get in it. The whole way to CBW she wagged her whole body. When I opened the back door to let her out she tried to jump out (she knows she's not allowed to do that) and then she ran to CBW's front door. When she went in and saw the counselors she wagged her whole body some more. CBW has an app where you can watch your dog. I've been watching Gelsey and she loves it! Especially the male counselors! OK...so my little girl is a tramp. But at least she's a happy tramp who's being treated well :)! Thank you Camp Bow Wow! It's nice to know I don't have to worry. read more

These guys are thorough! Just picked up our 2 aussies from their first introduction day. They gave us some pictures they took, lots of materials and handouts, and even wrote up reports on how they did. Having the live webcams to check up on them from to to time made a huge difference in comfort level. There is always someone out in the open play areas with the dogs which is really what sold me. They aren't just keeping them in little kennels all day. We will continue to board here for sure! read more
