I've actually purchased two vehicles from here. The gentlemen that helped me the first time was Tim Bickle, the gentleman that helped me the second time stepped in because Tim was out. Overall they treated me well, and the cars worked well for my pricepoint. I didn't read any of their negative reviews before I went and I'm glad I didn't because the cars are working well for us, and they helped us into loans at a time when my credit wasn't really high. Both times I need a car asap. Like most dealerships they are a business and if you can finance before you get there you may get better deals, but they were able to help me with my lower credit score and get me into a vehicle twice!! and with reputable financing companies. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because both cars were dirty when I purchased them and my second car had a few problems that involved me having to get loaners a few times. They fixed the problem, but I have to give a tiny penalty because of the inconvenience. When we get our next vehicle we'll be going back there. read more

They told my wife her grinding brakes was normal and she should not worry about it. Also told her her front struts where fine although the struts are blown and leaking and do not support the car and clunk over any pebble in the road. They replaced her headlight assembly with a Chinese knockoff from eBay that does not work correctly. They did not replace the bolts to the engine cover and we almost lost it, I had to replace all the bolts. I don't know if Michigan doesn't require certification for mechanics or if Tyler Automotive just doesn't care about quality of customer service but I do know they do not have any certified mechanics or body repair technicians. For the love of god avoid this place!! Unless your ok with the piss poor quality of their service department. Then by all means please enjoy getting taken for a ride. read more

I have a 2019 Chevy Cruze with 65000 miles on it. I was recently informed that it needed a new transmission at a cost of $6800 by a dealership in Niles. A transmission should last longer than those miles. The owner's manual doesn't even call for transmission maintenance until 72000 miles. I contacted GM customer care who contacted the dealer who declined to assist with the cost. I have bought and/or leased many cars over the years from this dealer but never again. It does not appear that they are committed to their customers or to excellence as it states on their website. If you are in the market for a car buying experience, just know they do not stand behind their product. read more

Incoming rant: Let me tell ya about Cadillacs costumer service and this is going to be a long rant so hold on to something. You pay a lot of money for a car you expect exceptional service. That's not what I got and continue to not get. I have about 47k miles on my car and was running into several issues. The radio blacked out wasn't functional, the door was making a rattle, I needed routine maintenance. All under warranty so it should be covered. First Pickup: I pick up the car from Tyler Automotive after telling them about my issues and the door continues to rattle and the bottom half of the LCD screen was not functional. No worries, things happen. Just glad this will get extra attention this time so that if it were go out of warranty I'll should be set to go. Second pickup: tested the LCD screen and that worked but I have to get the car to 75-80mph to hear the rattle. I specifically told the engineer under what conditions to test it. I take it on the highway and holy cow there was a loudest noise I have ever heard on that door. (I have video to prove it) then all of a sudden POP the trim of my car falls off. They didn't even test the car to see if it was put back together correctly and clearly the door is not fixed. I took it back to them with the trim failing in the wind as I drove up... I'm a bit upset but things happen. So I ask to talk to the engineer that worked on it and he said they couldn't catch the rattle so they made some adjustments and called it good. I took video and went to show him it and he said " that doesn't help me. I need to ride along with you." He gets in the car and before we even leave the lot he says he can't go for a ride with me right now.... but to leave it with them. This just pissed me off because it didn't get the attention the first few times and he clearly wasn't taking this seriously now. Third pickup: They said they made adjustments to the door. They think they fixed it..... they didn't fix it. I take it back to them around the first of November. The call: I get a call from Tyler Automotive and they said they won't take my car. I don't know if they think I'm crazy or they just aren't skilled enough to fix what they are "certified" to do. They tell me to pick it up and take it somewhere else.... WHAT? I told them I was in California and I couldn't do that but wanted the reason. They didn't have a reason. They told me to call Cadillac and have the road side assistance pick up the car and take it somewhere that can fix it. Sure, whatever as long as it goes somewhere that skilled professionals can fix a rattle in the door. The Cadillac roadside discusses amongst themselves where it should go and they take it to some place in Indiana. The second call: " oh yeah, you had your vehicle trucked here and we aren't certified to work on this type of vehicle" WHAT? How did they not know that this car has to have certified person to work on it? How do they expect the customer to know that? I call GM Cadillac Roadside and they tried very desperately to put it on me as if I wanted it to go there and I somehow would know it would need a special certified person to work on it. Hold on, let me check my book of that knowledge. I didn't even talk to them about where to put it. They just told me where it was going. So they wanted me to pay for the towing cost to the next dealership... NO! The third call: " I'm sorry, there is nothing we can do. You will need to ask that dealership to split the cost with you as they lied to you about where it should go." NO! NO! NO! I could pull my hair out at this point over their customer service. I went on this same rant and had her resubmit the claim. After the weekend they said it would be shipped to Kalamazoo. Fine. Okay. Great. Just fix it. The Fourth pickup: I could tell from the conversations and phone callithad with this group they knew I was a "special customer" it's now November 27th and over the past month, it's been shipped to several different dealerships. I pick up the car, I take it on the expressway and *rattle* *RATTLE* the door is doing it's usual rattle. With 20 minutes left in the service centers dopen I took an engineer with me on a ride and he identified that there was a rattle still happening. I appreciate him taking the last few minutes out of his day to do a ride along. But can I really be faulted for being upset that this is still an issue? Cadillac is one of the best brands on the market but their customer service and service centers are lacking. Whatever happened to putting in the extra effort to making sure the job is done right. I've wasted at least 12 hours of my life traveling to get this fixed. The Fifth pickup: To be continued..... Make this right Cadillac. I'm not the type of guy to make a big fuss out of service but the system you got going on right now is horrible. read more

Talk about turning what should be a fun purchase into a stressful nightmare. I wanted a new Jeep Wrangler for Memorial Day Weekend. Searching online and I see an ad for one from Tyler Automotive. So I make an online inquiry about the vehicle. After a new back and forth emails, I decide to make the purchase (even though the color stated on the ad was incorrect). I live in south FL and I am making a purchase from a dealer in Michigan. It is a slightly used vehicle at a great price. I make the purchase 7 days prior to Memorial Day Weekend, with the assurance that the dealer would have the vehicle delivered in time. I update my insurance policy and pay my down payment with the excitement that I'll have my new car by next week. After phone calls on the following Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, they finally tell me that they are shipping the car on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. So on Thursday, I asked to speak with the manager to see what they can do about this. Well, the manager made the offer to go ahead and tear up the contract! Needless to say, I was taken aback, but based on his attitude, I accepted. Two weeks after Memorial Day Weekend, I'm now taking steps with American Express to have Tyler Automotive refund my deposit since they won't return phone calls nor text messages. There are plenty of Jeep dealerships all throughout the country. This is one dealership that I would steer clear. read more

Stay away!! While I cannot say much about the new car purchasing experience at Tyler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, I can say that you should steer cleer of their used cars and used cars salesmen. I called the used dealership about a '10 Hyundai Sonata and asked what they would be able to take off on the internet price on Autotrader to make it worth my time to drive down to testdrive the car and drive off the lot with a new ride. I was told up to $300 more off of the internet price (granted this is a sleezy tactic used to get people to the lot which turned out to be the case). Upon arrival and after a test drive, we sat down to negotiate the deal. I asked for their discounted offer given that we had discussed over the phone a few hundred dollars off the price published online. Here's what was said by the salesman, "I never told you that, and you would be lucky if I can lower the price by even $100"......wow, really, it just shocks me that we still have car salesmen who believe that after deceptively bringing someone two hours to their lot, that all promises go out the window lol. End result, absolutely NO reduction in price after 20 minutes of back and forth. Also, if you like to be offended and belittled during a negotiation, this is the place for you. I was told....."C'mon use your common sense man!" and made to feel like I had no idea what I was doing by a lot of "Yeah right! there's no way you need that..." I was also convinced to return once more to the dealership a few days later (another 2 hour drive) where I had called the night before to let them know that I would be in in the morning. BUT of course, they forgot to call my cell to let me know not to drive down and that they had sold the car as soon as the doors opened that morning...... They did try to get me into a much more expensive car to make it all better, which I'm sure was their goal from the beginning, knowing full well the car would be gone. Please, just read the story and choose a better place to shop for your new/used car. When you spend over $16K for something, the process should ALWAYS be enjoyable. read more

Once purchased, they told me I would lose my warranty to get the dealer racks and the lying became compounded. They suggested anything but Kia racks. SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE. DON'T EVER BUY OR HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICE BY TYLER AUTOMOTIVE IN NILES, MI. This whole fiasco started in July when I bought a used AS IS 2006 Dodge Laramie with 35.9K miles on it. Before buying it my wife mentioned the tires look like they need replacing. We were assured that the tires still had a lot of wear on them and we should not be concerned. Also, a Service Mgr said he personally checked out the truck and it is a heck of a deal. About a week later I was returning from a trip to Detroit with my grandkids when a car swerved in front me causing me to hit the brakes a little harder than normal. The whole truck shook like crazy. I thought then, it must be the rotors. Now I am not a mechanic but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion. It took me about another 2 weeks to get it into to Tyler Automotive. I dropped the truck off at 7:30 and they had it almost the entire day. I picked it up late that afternoon. They ran thru nearly a half tank of gas but then said they found they had to replace the rear rotors and a fuel line. That was interesting, but what was more interesting is that they refused to give me any paperwork on it. I should have known then something was wrong. Well, I took the truck back and drove it for another few weeks. Most of my driving is local so I don't go over 60. You don't notice it as much until you are driving over 60. Anyway, I was up in Kalamazoo when a similar thing occurred. A car darted out in front and I hit the brakes. Damn, if the same thing didn't happen. The truck shook like crazy. Well, by now of course we were over the 30 day dealer warranty. I called and got the truck in last Thursday 9/19/2013 to Tyler Automotive in Niles, MI. I dropped the car off and they had it the whole day. I called about 3:00 and asked about the truck. I need the truck for work on Friday. He laughed and said they had it apart and needed more time but it will take them til almost quitting time to put it back together. But, they still could not find anything wrong with the truck. They ran thru nearly a half tank of gas again. Now for me, a half tank of gas is bout $50 - $60. Today I took the treuck into my mechanic who is well respected in the community. He had it for less than 6 hours. He changed the oil, and came up with this diagnosis. 1. The transfer case seal needed replacing. 2. The front brakes need replacing and the rotors are warped. 3. The tires which my wife tried to get the dealer to look at were wearing, rounding and rotting. they need replacing by Winter. Items 1 & 2 are costing a little over $300. Tires, my research tells me could cost upwards of $800 for the set. So today I called the General Manager Scott Tyler and explained all this. He was sorry to hear how disappointed I was and that its possible his mechanics may have missed the problems found by my mechanic. But, he has 2 of the best GM trained mechanics in the area. When I told him his mechanics suck as they had the truck twice, cost me a tank of gas and still didn't fix the problem, well they would be glad to take another look at it at my expense of course. When I told him that I could not trust his mechanics to fix the problem because they couldn't even find the problem he told me that if my mechanic replaced the rotors and brakes and the problem is still there, my mechanic not only sucks but he ripped me off. Also, my wife and I totally misunderstood the meaning of AS IS. My understanding was that there may be minor problems with the vehicle but it would start, run and be safe to drive. We could have been killed on that highway that day if those brakes locked. He didn't care. AS IS is just that AS IS. If there are problems, you inherit them. The phrase AS IS just means that the vehicle starts and runs. If there are any mechanical problems, Oh well! This dealership does not care about your safety or the publics safety of those you encounter on the road. When that truck shook after pressing on the brakes, I thought the whole damn thing was going to come apart. I could have easily lost control of the truck and flipped it or hit another vehicle. The dealership takes no responsibility for their inept actions. If I knew I could, I'd sue the pants off of them just to prove a point about public safety. read more

A while back my wife and I went to purchase a Chevy Malibu that we saw online. Being the salesmen that they are, they up-sold us on a newer more expensive Chevy Malibu. After a while of sales pitch... We took it home that night and two hours after we left the lot we decided it was too much for us... We had made a mistake with the purchase and just wanted to cancel that entire sale and get into the car we originally wanted... We did have to take a partial loan out for that car BUT the paperwork never was sent yet... We came in the following day (because they were closing when we called) to get it taken care of. Instead of canceling the deal, and letting us get the car we originally want, Tyler's TRADED IN THE NEW CAR FOR THE OLD ONE... Not canceled the deal but made an all new one... This then made it to where we STILL were paying on the loan as well having an older model... If we wanted the NEWER car back... It would then be a whole new transaction... They were fighting us tooth and nail... The contract states they could cancel the deal at any time but they would NOT do so, even though we were still buying a car from them... We got F**KED to say the least.... They didn't care, my wife was in tears and the manager on staff smirked a little... Like they got some sick joy out of putting people in unnecessary debt and troubles. We would have kept the new car BUT between the car loan they wouldn't cancel and the insurance on a newer car, at that time could not afford BOTH a loan and a new car payment. Yes, I understand it was OUR mistake in doing so.. But, their contract stated they could have canceled the contract and we could have started fresh, done right by their customers and put us in the car we originally wanted. They still would have made money and they would have made life long customers and walking talking billboards... Now... I hate driving past the place... No basic information about the used vehicles on the car like mileage and price and all vehicles are locked. I'd like to look and get an idea about the cars before talking to the salesman. We drove four vehicles and had to wait 5 to 10 minutes between drives for the salesman to get the keys and info on the cars. We even told him ahead of time which we wanted to drive next, on a hot day, this made a difference. He was not attentive to our needs. We were looking at used but between 22 and 26 K so not beaters. He was nice enough but he seemed somewhat indifferent and not prepared. read more

After seeing the cars online and talking to the salesman over the phone having him assure us they could make a sweet deal. We decided to make the hour and a half trip up to the dealership to look at the car we had talked about. We had to wait for about 20 min to even be seated, though we had set up an appointment. After test driving the car the salesman said, he needed to go and talk to his manager and he would be right back. He was gone for over 25 min. When he came back he placed a quote on the desk told us to circle which one would work best for us and to place our signatures on the line. They were all above our budget that we had told him prior to even arriving and then again when we arrived. We proceeded to tell him that it was simply over our budget. We ask for our keys and he insisted on pulling our vehicle around for us, which we thought was very generous of him. Once we began walking to our vehicle the salesman opened the driver's door, but refused to step out of the way to let me in. He demanded us to tell him what he did wrong and what he could do to get us in a new car today. We explained to him that he had done nothing wrong and that if he got the price of the car down to our budgeted price it would work. But he ignored all that we were saying and insisted that he must have done something wrong. After about 15 more min. of trying to get him to move he finally step aside. I then had to jerk the door out of his hand just to shut it. I would never recommend anyone to Tyler's ever. read more

Bought an 04 Chrysler Pacifica from this dealership in 08,they sold me an anti rust package which they supposedly applied,still unsure if that happened given the rust issues that cropped up later,they sold me a warranty on the paint and later refused to honor it stating the rust holes were not big enough,then coime to find out the warranty theu sold me was no good at all given the age of the car so they refunded me,this shop is risiculous.The owner was arrogant as well you would think after all this he would have fixed the car but nah not this guy,I suppose they believe the other dealership in town is just that bad that they can do folks dirty.However quite the contrary,last year I purchased two preowned vehicles the same day from Campbells since I wnated to avoid Tylers like the plague and both ran perfect and a year later still do.Go to Campbells Ford if you want a descent car in Niles,MI.,sorry Tylers your service is bad have a nice day. read more
