Tyler's Barbecue was a great experience. I had a sliced brisket and pork rib plate with potato salad and beans. We are Californians who stop here every chance we get. Tyler's definitely tops my list of best bbq! The brisket has deep rich beefy flavor, tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and just the right amount of smoke. The ribs are always moist, tender and smoked to perfection! The rub is complex and wonderful-as an amateur smoker I've experimented with replicating it at home but have yet to come close. I guess we'll just have to route every road trip through Amarillo. Had the sausage for the first time last night and very sad I hadn't tried it before now! Perfection. I bought a pound to take to my 92 year old mother(and so I can have more)! What can I say outstanding barbecue. Found them on Yelp as we were passing through Amarillo. Don't let the looks deceive you, simple but great food. Tyler greeted us and walked us Northerners through the menu. We had brisket, hot link and regular Texas sausage. Green chili and peach cobbler for sides. The staff was kind and patient while we decided what to order. There was plenty of room to sit and eat in the restaurant or you can take food to go. Overall, I would like to try Tyler's again. I was greeted by Tyler himself the day that I arrived. I like this because you get to interact with the pit master. I got some brisket, slaw, and the cobbler. The brisket had a nice smoke to it, bark was a little thin, had a good taste, but overall the brisket was dry. The cobbler and the slaw were delicious. Brisket is tough to cook, but with Tyler's being on Texas Monthly's Top 50 list (as of 2017), I'm sure the day I went was an off day. I will be back to try it again in the future. read more

We came through Amarillo about a year ago and had a fabulous lunch at Tyler's. Excited to eat dinner here. They have a new location so don't freak out when you pull up thinking it's the wrong place! Because that's what happened to us!! Ooh, I love this place. Sliced brisket is moist with that delicious, crisp bark. I'm ambivalent when it comes to sausage but Tyler's is awesome. Sides of beans, cole slaw and jalapeño corn. Texas toast to sop up the beans and barbecue sauce. Absolute heaven. Grab a pint of cobbler to take with you. Lord knows we were too stuffed for dessert but glad we got the cobbler to snack on later. Congrats to them on the new location! Tyler's is reason enough to swing through Amarillo. read more

While driving through Texas and staying in Amarillo for a night I decided to track down the highest-rated BBQ in the area which happened to be Tyler's BBQ according to Google. I've always said that Texas BBQ, especially brisket, is a religious experience however the brisket sandwich, potato salad, and banana pudding I ate was mediocre at best but maybe my palate was hindered by the most delicious BBQ I had ever eaten at Terry Black's BBQ in Dallas just a day before. That said the brisket was dry and the sauce bland...I really hope there is better BBQ in west Texas but I have to wonder considering all the awards Terry's has hanging on the wall. read more

WOW this is probably the best BBQ I've had. Visiting from NY and we're starving after hiking palo duro for a few hours. Read the reviews and decided we would stop. We ordered the 4 meat plate w/ 2 sides ( got 3) and 2 drinks about 30$ which is reasonable. Pulled pork - GREAT they have different sauces you can put on It Chicken ( there's options) - YUM outside was delicious , cooked perfectly Ribs- MUST HAVE , little peppery for my liking but i usually never eat ribs and my god i ate em all Sausage ( again many options)- we got cheese and jalepeno and It was delish Slaw - loved It wasn't too fancy but not just a slop of mayo either Beans - we weren't personally a fan but It wasn't b/c of quality just not our preferred taste & last BUT not LEAST PEACH COBBLER- which was to DIE FOR , wasn't overly sugary and had the perfect ratio of peaches to everything else . Thoroughly enjoyed There's a huge selection of drinks to chose from and even a drive through window ! Oh and your meal comes w/ a piece of Texas toast! With a place like this in town I don't understand how Rudy's is in business. This place was amazing and I came at close so just imagine how great it would of been at open with all fresh items. On a road trip from California to Oklahoma, we only passed through s small part of Texas, but we were in desperate need of some world-renowned Texas BBQ. Oh my god, did we find it. The chopped brisket was insane, the ribs were great, their cobbler was shockingly delicious, and the coleslaw and links were also above average. Sadly we didn't come on Mac n cheese day, but it was an A+ experience. Tyler's is definitely worthy of their Top 50 BBQ title. I'm going to have to find an excuse to get back to Texas just to come back. Thanks for the experience, Tyler. If you are in the Amarillo area and looking for good barbecue you have to stop here. We got the 3 item plate with brisket, pulled pork and turkey with potato salad and corn. Definitely the best potato salad I have ever eaten and the brisket was amazing. My husband said it was better than the brisket at Franklin's. There's quite a few routes you can take while driving from San Diego to Columbus, and a couple of them take you through Texas. After eating most Mexican for a week, I was hankering for some good ole Texas Barbeque. We found it at Tyler's BBQ in Amarillo. Three of us tested the menu, ordering the Chicken sandwich plate, Pulled Pork sandwich plate, and ribs. Our tasters included a BBQ rookie (first time in Texas), an apprentice, and a seasoned BBQ eater (me). One year I completed a BBQ tour (on the company dime) that included Eastern and Western Carolina, Memphis, Dallas, and some St. Louis dry rub. That was my initiation. Tyler's is a local BBQ joint that has a very down-home feel to it. They were fairly busy but service was friendly and the food was served quickly. All three dinners were a bell-ringer for each of us. The ribs were meaty and with just enough fat to roll my eyes into the back of my head. I sampled the regular and spicy BBQ sauce (I stay away from sweet) and both were complimentary-not overpowering. Tyler's is a great example of some good Texas BBQ. I've you're ever passing through Amarillo, I'd make Tyler's a scheduled stop. read more
