We were told about this place by my cousin- he and the owner have been friends since childhood. We decided to stop here for lunch and boy we were not disappointed! Service was very attentive and quick. The setup in terms of bbq is a bit different than what we are used to. Specifically, you don't see the smoked meats and sides that is typical in TX bbq joints. You sit down in a smallish dining room and order from a menu. I like the whole experience of "seeing everything", but not all are like that, and different doesn't mean bad. We ordered a few multi-meat plates. There were no ribs...which was one of the reasons we were there, so that was a bummer but the server did indicate some ribs were resting. The sliced brisket was very good, both the flat and the point meat we ordered. The sausage was OK, sides (mac and slaw) were OK, pulled pork was good. Later...they did end up having ribs available. They were great! Overall, 3.5-4 stars for the food, upgraded to 4 due to great service. Recommended for good bbq in Amarillo. read more

As a vet, I certainly want to support my fellow vets which is why we decided to try Nine Line while traveling thru town. Plus the Yelp reviews looked pretty good. I don't know if we just caught you on an off-day, but I'm going to tell you straight....it wasn't great. :-( I had the two meat plate with brisket and ribs, with the sides of Cole slaw and potato salad. The brisket was dry and tough....I've never had to use a knife to eat sliced brisket. I don't know whether it was just old, or the cook or the cut of beef you used, but it was probably the worst I've had. The Cole slaw was average at best, and the potato salad was bland. My wife had the Mac and cheese, with brisket instead of pulled pork. She said that both the brisket and the macaroni were very dry. The pluses..... the pork ribs and iced tea were pretty good, and the dining room while small was patriotic. I hate to bash a vet, but I don't want to BS you. Honestly, it wasn't good. read more

First time here. It did not disappoint. We got in just in the knock of time to get burnt ends and pulled pork !! Husband ordered burnt ends. I ordered 3 meat plate. Sliced brisket. Pulled pork. Ribs. Let's see where do I start? First, before you even get into this place, the smell of barbecue overwhelms, your sense is if you weren't hungry when you went by it. Trust me, you will be once you get a whiff. I got the brisket rib combo. Everything was seasoned perfectly had a great bark. The ribs were excellent. They were juicy, had a great bite and a good bark on the outside. My server was a guy named Demetrius. I hope I spelled his name correctly. That this guy was on point if the food didn't bring me back his service would. Everything was clean in there. Usually when you go to a barbecue spot, the tables are a little sticky. But this place stay clean tables, we're nice and smooth. So if you haven't given this barbecue joint a try here in Amarillo, you might be missing out on some good barbecue. read more

Excellent service as soon as I walked in. The ambiance is pretty much what you think of when you imagine "hole in the wall" and the music is a little loud for my taste but I'm not trying to have a conversation with anyone so it isn't interfering today. The smell inside is excellent and makes the mouth water almost instantly. As for the food, I ordered the 3 meat platter (Brisket, Ribs, and jalapeño sausage) with potato salad and the "smoked Mac n cheese" for my sides. The price is pretty ridiculous at 28$ so I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a go-to place. The food is, I must say, very very good. The brisket came out perfect. Not overly seasoned or too fancy. Good west Texas brisket with a perfect smoke ring and perfect pull. I'd put it in any competition around and place in the top 3. The ribs were also perfectly seasoned, smoked and had the perfect pull from the bone on every bite. I don't normally go for cheddar in my sausage so I'm a bit biased against it. Probably should have ordered the pulled pork but it was still surprisingly good. No complaints at all. If that's something you enjoy you'll definitely be happy. The smoked Mac n Cheese is something I've never had before and it was definitely different in a good way. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The potato salad was too much of a mushy baby food texture for me to enjoy so I would pass on that in the future. Not a great flavor either to be honest. Dessert was fantastic with the banana pudding, as well. My only draw back is a 35$ tab when all was said and done. I'd easily place this in the high 9s if it weren't for the price. So for now, I'll give it an 8.8. Definitely a great experience all the way around with their BBQ! Good job to everyone there. read more

Been at 9 Line BBQ a couple of times. Staff is always friendly if you are dining in. Good decor, homey and warm. The portions start at half pound with the meats! Good portion of sides and large tea and water glasses. About ten plus tables inside. The earlier you get there in evening the better chance they will have a good selection available. Monday-Wednesday. After that Call ahead and see what is left. The only thing that would make this business the bomb is there are only High carb sides are offered. Beans, huge chunk potato salad, Mac and Cheese. Shows on line green beans but we have never seen those on their menu they hand you at the table. So didn't know to ask till looking for the address. They do let you know they are out of meat. Good portions of 1/2 lb meats. Ribs get tough and Crispy after being under heat all afternoon but still good. The BBQ sauce is very good! I understand the owners are Veterans and we support that all day long. Late week call before you go! read more

First we were greeted right away and Demetrius was so attentive even though it got busy closer to the lunch hour. Most tender chicken I've ever had. Same with the brisket. Wow, I don't even know how to start. The barbecue here is excellent. You don't even need barbecue sauce but if you're a barbecue sauce fan, try the hot one. It's excellent. Potato salad served cold with mustard in it.(my favorite kind) The service is incredible. They are so friendly, and make you feel like part of the family. And the atmosphere has kind of a little bit of a military touch. Which of course I am proud to be an American. So I love going to and supporting a business like this. I was excited to see a new barbeque joint opening. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the product. The brisket was dry and tough but masked with tallow, and the ribs tasted good but were also dry. The turkey tasted good but was still dry. The mac & cheese was the shining star of the tray, but I could have gone without the imitation bacon bits. Now, this is where I'm confused. The green beans were sweet like someone had accidently used sugar instead of salt. That could be how they are supposed to be served, but I was not expecting that, and it wasn't a pleasant surprise.
