Have been to Vortex many different times and they never disappoint!…read moreThis evening we sat out on the patio, and there was a beautiful breeze. Inside they had someone playing the guitar. So relaxing. During the winter, we were there for trivia several times. That was always fun! Now the food and beverage... Their pizza is awesome. Doesn't matter what kind you get, it's delicious. The beer is also wonderful. There is a wide range to choose from, and my boys have liked them all. I've always had good service, and the place is always clean. In addition, it's located right off the Rail Trail in New Freedom. Great place to stop after a walk or a bike ride!

Vortex Brewing Company might technically be in New Freedom, PA, but it feels like a true extension…read moreof the Maryland craft beer scene. The beer variety is fantastic. They have something for every palate, and I appreciate that they rotate styles so often. My personal favorites are the Polar Vortex IPA (hoppy, bitter, and seriously bold) and the Coal Car Snickerdoodle Coffee Stout--which is a phenomenal, dark dessert beer that's perfect for the colder months. The taproom is huge and welcoming, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's truly family and dog-friendly, which makes it an easy choice for a Saturday afternoon. Pro tip: If you're coming from northern MD, hop on the NCR Trail near the brewery. It's a great spot to hit after a bike ride or a long walk. The team here is friendly, the glassware is always clean, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

I cannot adequately describe the level of disappointment I felt returning to the club this season…read more The changes are impossible to miss--and unfortunately, every single one seems to be for the worse. What was once a welcoming, well-run club now feels like an organization that has completely abandoned the basic standards and values it was built on. The level of unprofessionalism is astonishing. Staff members appear poorly trained, disorganized, and often completely clueless when it comes to handling even simple issues. The kitchen area is frequently dirty and poorly maintained, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and management. The overall atmosphere has deteriorated dramatically, and the incompetence on display is honestly shocking. Most importantly, the club is no longer worth the money members are paying. Whatever management changes were made behind the scenes have clearly had a negative impact on the member experience. Long-time members who remember how this club used to operate will immediately notice the decline. This season has been a major disappointment, and unless significant improvements are made, I have little doubt that these decisions will continue driving away loyal members.

The grounds are well kept, we hear there are new restroom facilities (they are doing upgrades regularly), and the food services are excellent, well run and with delicious options. We have been members for a number of years now, and love to bring our granddaughter as well as enjoying it ourselves. Thanks to all who make this possible.
