This was my first time attending this event. We had VIP couple tickets. The VIP area was held in the Manor which l must say is a beautiful place. They had numerous area's set up where you could have wine tasting. They gave you a very large wine glass and tickets for the tasting. They also had all types of appetizers included in the VIP area which included mini hamburgers. Veggie trays,fried oysters, and many more goodies to eat. The majority of the wines were a little on the drier side than what l'm use to but it was durable. Now the Manor itself is a beautiful place with two separate restrooms. Unisex that is which was pleasantly clean which I admire. Also from what I gather you can have weddings at this location as well. So the 3 stars is not for the Manor or the setup of the VIP but the way they had it set up if you wanted to purchase bottles to take home. You actually couldn't do that which l thought was quite odd since that's what we would normally do. Other than that l really enjoyed the festival and l actually purchased two pair of cute earrings. . She helped us get better deals on aspects of our big day, figure out how to get what we wanted within budget, and mapped out every detail to perfection. Sarah made sure that everything was planned in a way that made the most sense and following her guidance led us to a day I dreamed of. When there were hiccups with a bartender being out due to COVID, she was quick to come up with a solution and I didn't even know of the issue until after the night was over. Sarah handled everything on the day-of, even transporting our personal décor, so I only had to concentrate on being with my people and soaking it all in. On top of all of that, the food was AMAZING. I would eat their short ribs for every meal and the fennel and ricotta flatbread was to die for. Everyone says you don't eat at your own wedding but Chef's Expressions made sure we got served a little of EVERYTHING so we got to eat every single dish at our wedding and they were all phenomenal. I didn't think pasta would hold up well served en masse but the pesto especially was really phenomenal. Every hors d'oeuvres, station, and dessert was delicious. Our cake was also provided through Chef's Expressions and was one of the best wedding cakes I had ever eaten. Pros: - The food was delicious - The tasting was also delicious as the food is very good -The servers at my wedding were awesome and helpful - They helped create a layout for the wedding - They seemed to listen to what we wanted - They created a timeline of the wedding Cons: - They had last minute questions that should have been addressed at the tasting/ questions were asked that we had reviewed at the tasting (cake flavor, types of alcohol, etc.) Instead of asking them the month before the wedding they were asked the week of the wedding. - The day-of coordinator that was promised was invisible. - The clean up of the event was disorganized. I ended up taking items with me that were supposed to go to a point person that was known by all parties. As a bride, this is the last thing you want to have to think about. If the event coordinator were present they would have known this. - A gift was lost and chef's expressions did not seem concerned. With hindsight 20/20, I would have hired a wedding planner and waited until the year 2020 where The Maryland Historical Society will allow other caterers.

Even though she's always busy working events and in the kitchen, she still is quick to respond to any questions/emails/texts. When my dad had a lot of dish-specific questions regarding preparation and details before our tasting, she was willing to have a long phone call with him answering all of our concerns. This company wants to make sure you are satisfied, and can pretty much make any dish you might be interested in. Our red-meat option for my wedding buffet was sliced NY strip steak, and we requested it cooked rare to medium-rare. The cook temp was very important to my dad, a steak aficionado, but I figured it would end up coming out closer to medium since it's nearly impossible to cook steak off-site and have it be that perfect pink temp still once it's brought on-site...especially since even steakhouses have had difficulty getting that perfect "rare to medium-rare" cook temp in my past experiences. Well, Biggerstaff's steak for my wedding was absolutely perfect! They were all cooked to the perfect temperature, a beautiful pink rare (but not under)--we were extremely happy! (The rest of the food turned out great too.) On the day of the wedding, Biggerstaff's employees operated so smoothly and were so nice to me, and set up the tables so beautifully. We ended up putting together a package with them that included a seated meal, late night snack, and bar setups with mixers and we provided our own alcohol. I got quotes from at least five vendors, and Hunt Valley provided the most flexibility with food and bar options. They were the only vendor willing to offer more than two entree choices for a seated meal. They also had the most reasonably priced meal prices. We did two different tastings with Hunt Valley and they were kind and accommodating at each. They were happy to schedule a second tasting to help us finalize our meal and table setting choices. They were comfortable making our three signature cocktails and setting up the bar using alcohol we ordered from a different vendor. The month before the wedding, Darlene attended a two-hour meeting with our day-of coordinator and venue coordinator to make sure we were on track for wedding day. She was organized, professional, and great to work with. Throughout the planning process, she was always available to answer questions or address concerns. As we made changes to menu and tables, Darlene adapted perfectly. Wedding day service was seamless. Aside from a bit of a line at the beginning of happy hour (which I've experienced at every wedding I've ever attended), drink service during the wedding was seamless. I also appreciated that, when my husband and I joined everyone for cocktail hour, a waitress found me and brought us a large plate with an assortment of several of each appetizer so we could make sure to enjoy everything. Dinner service finished on time and not only did I hear no complaints about the food, but I heard a lot of compliments as well! We ended up adding a late-night snack in the month before the wedding, and guests raved about that too! Weeks after the wedding, I still have friends telling me how much they enjoyed the taste of everything. Finally, we heard from our day-of coordinator that Hunt Valley's staff were indispensable in the set-up process. We had a lot of decor items, and they went above and beyond setting up the tables with these extra items. They also lent a hand to the day-of coordinator at the end of the night, carrying alcohol out of the venue and placing it in one of our cars. Overall, we are really happy with Hunt Valley from start to finish.

The price is great (especially for the food quality), and they definitely give you tons of food to sample at the complimentary tasting. There is a lot of flexibility with the menu, and they have great packages and options. They walk you through the menu and the options and answer any questions. The only issue I've had is with picking out linens, because originally I picked out what I wanted during an appointment, and later was told that what I picked didn't actually come in those colors. That was okay with me, I just needed to choose again, so I looked at the website. I liked some of the stuff I saw, but wanted to see the swatches in person just to be sure (literally, just glance at them for a second to make sure they were what I expected). I had to make an appointment, which is fine. I drove up and met with one of their reps (not the same person from the tasting) who had the book of swatches. I knew the name of the swatch I wanted, and just wanted to LOOK at it in the book, but she kept telling me that the book is not up to date, and I'm better off just looking online. Now, I'm not a bridezilla, and I've been what some may think is too passive during the planning process, but I drove from Baltimore City to Monkton just to see a piece of fabric and she's telling me the website is better? Since she asked, I told her that I had made a 30 minute drive to make the appointment, and I THINK she was trying to go over some things just to make me feel better about the drive, or something like that. She started asking about my timeline for the evening, which is when I also found out the time for my event was recorded incorrectly, and I wasn't prepared to discuss it because I was only there to glance at the fabric swatch. So that was frustrating. There have been some other instances where I've been told the wrong thing, like the cost quoted for linens doesn't include chair covers. It's frustrating, and I still really don't know if there is a meeting or anything typically before the actual event where the final details can be pinned down. Overall, I would say that they are good for the price, and the food at the tasting was excellent. There are just a lot of little annoyances along the way. Hopefully everything will turn out well!
