Bavarian pretzels. Used to be 3!
    Audrey G.

I am not a beer drinker but I tasted DH's sour blackberry beer and it was delicious! The menu explained that it was made with NZ sour hops and 1.5 lbs of blackberries per gallon. So good! We highly recommend it! We ordered a meat pizza- kind of BBQ tasting with all kinds of meats. Not 'real' pizza in my book (after all, I was born in Brooklyn and I do believe I know pizza!) but delicious and filling. DH wanted Bavarian pretzels that came with beer cheese and grainy mustard. Pretzels were great, beer cheese was good and DH said the mustard was tasty. The food menu is limited- 3 sandwiches, 2 salads, pizza, charcuterie, 2 deserts, some appetizers. But service was good, nice atmosphere and it was a beautiful day.

We stopped by today for the pizza with Santa event and we weren't disappointed! Great pizza, great drinks, and the event for kids was so nice! Our server was attentive and sweet and the whole atmosphere was just such a happy festive vibe! We will be back again soon!

Best brewery in York County. There are so many options to choose from. They have beer, wine, cocktails, homemade root beer, delicious food, and a super friendly staff. I've enjoyed every experience I've had at this brewery. It's also right off of the NCR trail. Great location! It's a must try.

This is a brewery that has a limited kitchen and consequently, a limited menu. However, the food that we ordered was pretty good. We ordered two cheese pizzas, a crab pretzel and an Italian cold cut sub. The Italian cold cut was better than the one I had at a neighboring Italian restaurant. The pizza was pretty good but had significant flop and a light undercarriage. Service is friendly and attentive. We spoke to the general manager quite a bit and he was very knowledgeable about the offerings. I polled my party about the score and we agreed on 3.5 stars.

Great beer and fantastic pizza. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was live music that we really enjoyed. Will be back for sure!

Very smooth and has a fruity finish (I may have drank 3 on this particular visit but uwill not confirm or deny). Good selection of German beers to choose from. Can't really say what the vibe is here cuz we ate at an odd hour and we were the only ones eating, but there were some people seated at the bar. I would come back for the beer.

But there's always something just a bit off on every visit. The servers aren't aware of specials advertised on social media. The food presentation is always slightly off. There have never been more than 3 beers on tap out of several they list. I would not recommend the lobster roll special - cold flavorless lobster bits sprinkled with celery spread over Texas toast bread which was soggy from the moisture. Had to eat with knife and fork. The German coleslaw was tasty and vinegary but served on a plate (not bowl) and juice was spreading to edge of plate and didn't look appetizing the way it was presented but it was very good. The boardwalk-style fries are delicious and they do have malt vinegar for them if you ask. Good beer though - the Pilsner is my favorite. They recently opened up some outdoor seating with picnic tables that face the parking lot.

This was my 2nd time coming to Mad Chef!…read more The first time I came here was about 2 years ago (before doing yelp reviews). I was not very impressed. This time around I cannot complain! Their specials are all revolving around the Masters which was unique! We tried the Pimento, Fried Green Tomato, Chicken Sandwich (The Pimento Birdie). This was a delicious sandwich that just screams Georgia! We also tried the Madfather Chicken Sandwich! Pesto, Vodka Sauce, Mozzarella, this thing was outstanding! The fries are always a highlight here! We got the bucket (had a bigger group) and it came with 3 sauces. 1 tiny little knock on the fry bucket....the entire bucket was not filled with fries. The bottom of the fry bucket had about an inch or 2 of crinkled up paper..... All of the food was outstanding. The beer was good. Tons of space and seating. Very easy ordering process. Go up to the counter, tell them your table number, and your food arrives shortly! Prices are high here! Expect a larger number on your check if consuming both food and alcohol!

Maybe what I smelled upon walking inside Mad Chef, were hops; I'm unsure. There was a lingering, unpleasant scent (hay/old peanut shells, an earthy staleness). When my food arrived, the scent dissipated. I purposely took a picture of the fish, on my fried fish sandwich, to illustrate what $17 and some change, looks like - very thin. The fish fry was tasty, slightly undercooked, soft crusted and soft bun, fresh condiments and those "pickles" were stellar. They were the best part of my meal. I would seriously purchase a jar of those pickles. Was wary of how hot honey would mesh with a pepperoni pizza, but surprisingly, the sweet heat and the savoriness of the pepperonis, worked well together. The only miss and it's a pretty big "miss," was the paper thin, tasteless crust, acting only as a vehicle to hold the toppings. Suggest you improve the crust and then, you'll have a stellar pie. Loved the peach bread pudding with brown sugar ice cream, but once again, for the price; the portion was skimpy. Liked the touch of homemade whipped cream, but it was overly whipped (stiff and tasteless), making it actually, impalatable.

This particular day, it was quite busy and unfortunately, there were more children here than there were adults. I get it, there's not much to do out in these parts and for the parents, I'm sure the prospect of setting up a picnic and letting their kids run around the lawn is a big pro. However, it becomes a BIG con for me as a childless person just trying to enjoy myself when there's a cacophony of children screaming, babies being changed on the table in front of me, kids running around unattended, and just general chaos. I don't know how it became so normalized for breweries, where there's alcohol being consumed, to become playgrounds for small children but here we are. My recommendation would be to provide a "child-free" section. The place is absolutely enormous so it wouldn't be hard. Perhaps the "stable bar" area and the lawn in front of it could serve as this child free area. Or maybe there's specific days of the week or certain times of day children aren't allowed? Beyond this complaint, I was pleased to see the food truck menu way more expanded than the last time I was here. They even offer gluten free pizza now! It was pretty good too. I enjoyed the grapefruit seltzer which came canned and loved the mango seltzer slushie. My boyfriend liked his pilsner and hefeweizen, too. Service from one of the bartenders was curt and standoffish - she seemed extremely stressed to be pouring beer and rolled her eyes or scoffed at any request for a sample. There was a lot of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. It was a bit warm for my preference, but they had a large fan that I found a seat near, so that helped.
