I went with a group of 20 people to Typhoon. I had never been to Typhoon before, but the person, who organized the dinner said good things about their Thai food, so I came along. Upon coming in, our party was split into two large tables. It took a little bit of convincing, but they obliged and let us put the tables together. I decided to order the house salad as well as the Rama (a vegetable dish with rice and peanut sauce) with shrimp and tofu. Our appetizers came out quickly and my house salad was very good. It was a combination of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sliced carrots, big pieces of broccoli and cucumber and pineapple with a side of peanut sauce. Scrumptious! Very fresh and tasty. My one downside with the meal was just how long it took to get our entrees. I understand we are a party of 20, but the restaurant wasn't packed by any means. Took more than 1 hour - probably closer to an hour and a half - to get our food. By the time the food came, I was very hungry. However, the rams dish was great. The shrimp was large with a good texture and flavorful taste; the tidy was lightly fried with a nice inside of tofu. The tofu could have been a tad bit hotter and the portions could have been a bit bigger, but otherwise very good. Altogether, I enjoyed my meal and Typhoon. The ambiance is nice and the food is spectacular. Our large party made the wait a bit long, but otherwise very good. Would recommend!

We decided to come here for lunch on Saturday. The place was empty so getting a table was easy. We started with some spring rolls and wings, both were not bad. I got the chicken pad thai and that was pretty good. Not a bad thai place and would not mine going back again.

There was so much more, but it disappeared before the camera came out. Delicious Thai iced tea and Bubble Tea.

This place is.... love. The best of my best! I can't wait to go back. I miss them. They select all their own seasonal veggies personally- never disappointed, yet often surprised

We like good flavorful Thai food. The curry puffs were amazing. We had a mango curry and chicken eggplant dinner special. Both were packed full of flavor. In both some of the veggies were too raw (uncooked). In the eggplant dish the eggplant was mushy. Again both did stand tall on flavor. One person seemed to do nearly all the work while another sat. The atmosphere was nice and our server/hostess was fast and friendly. No problem saying I'll go back again and no problem recommending this to others.

The ginger chicken was very fragrant with fresh vegetables. The brown ginger sauce was light, yet tasteful. Staff was friendly with a calm atmosphere. I wish there was a lunch menu since it seemed to be a bit expensive for lunch.

This is not Pad See Eu Noodles but this is what they sent. Noodles, veggies and no sauce.

Great place, even better food! The curry is the best I've ever had, and the workers are so kind!

    Ask the Community - Typhoon

Does the Teriyaki sauce contain honey?

Are the curry pastes vegetarian (and vegan) friendly or do they contain shrimp paste/ other animal products?

I asked the owner. She replied "It’s contained shrimp pastes but if requested can used fomented tofu instead". So check it on out, they're excellent with trying to satisfy everyone- you won't be disappointed.

Are the curries (when ordered with tofu) vegan?

They should be since they use coconut milk as the "dairy" in the curries.

So this was my first time trying a vegan restaurant .. which was recommend to me by my friend …read more I will say I'm not vegan and neither is my husband but I wanted to bring my mom and sister who are vegetarian for a nice family dinner . And I am so glad I did ! The food was amazing , the owner is so sweet we got to meet her and she told us her story about wanting to have her own restaurant since forever ! So they normally have a regular menu however they do offer vegan hot pot with a reservation which I highly recommend because it was amazing !!! We tried all the vegan food ( vegan duck , vegan chicken , tofu , fried tofu ) . Which was really good because if you have never tried vegan food before this allowed you the option to try all the different protein options and see which you liked rather than ordering a single dish . And considering I'm not vegan and my husband loves meat a lot ... we still enjoyed ourselves, all the food was delicious and filling ! My favourite was the vegan duck and the fried tofu and the spicy curry ( highly recommend) Even the dessert which was a Oreo and banana pudding was delicious. Overall 10/10 great food , great location and atmosphere, great staff ! I highly recommend even if your a meat lover to go give it a try ... and you might be pleasantly surprised ( I was ) and I will definitely be back to try some more dishes !

Merely peckish, we didn't order as much as we ordinarily would have. However, what we did order hit the spot, and resoundingly so. We ordered one cup of tom yum with coconut milk, one cup of tom yum with clear broth, spring rolls, and chive patties. The tom yum with coconut milk was almost like a curry: very filling and creamy. The tom yum with clear broth was spicy, with every sip bursting with flavour. The portions were absolutely gigantic, and we had plenty left over. The spring rolls were perfectly hot and perfectly crispy. The filling was also delicious. The chive patties were also fried to a crisp, and were my favourite item on the menu. The food took a relatively long time to come, but service was very friendly. The ambiance was warm, with some interesting East Asian artwork. I'm always excited about all-vegan places, just because I can eat everything listen on the menu and don't have to parse carefully to figure out what I can consume. Simultaneously, I hold these establishments to high standards: such restaurants need to be truly exceptional to thrive. My dining partner and I were delighted with our experience at Aroy, and hope to return when we're next in Connecticut.

First of all, the décor is very pretty, with a thatched roof/tiki bar-like design at their small bar, painted designs and artwork on the walls, pretty light fixtures, sculptures, and Tiffany style glass. There is plenty of room between the tables, so you really have a sense of privacy and are not crowded at all. I love Thai food, and I loved my lunch. I ordered a small Coconut Tom Yum soup ($6), and it was a10/10. It had the coconutty mildly spiced hot and sour flavor I love and was loaded with chicken, A big bowl of just that soup would have been enough for my munch any day of the week. I also ordered their Spicy Eggplant with Squid ($18) stir-fried with bamboo shoot, snow peas, string beans, carrots, bell peppers and basil leaves in spicy basil sauce. It was served with a side of white rice. It was a great example of why I love Thai food because the flavor was fantastic. The portion was big enough that we brought home half for another day. Now, as far as we experienced, the real clunker here was the service. Perfunctory, unsmiling, non-engaging, robotic are words that come to mind. What a shame, because just a little effort really would have made a big difference.
