Absolutely incredible! The food is fresh, authentic, and bursting with flavor. We tried the pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, coconut shrimp, lemongrass iced tea, and one of the curries--everything was super delicious. The service was quick, the menu has tons of options, and it's easily the most authentic Thai I've ever had. I drove by the other day and noticed a new sign that said grand opening. I was a little hesitant because the old Thai palace was a standout place, putting their spin on classics, but after hearing good things from my mom last night I couldn't wait. I treated myself to a little bit of everything tonight. Same delicious taste! And to be honest the pad se ew was better than ever! The only thing I would suggest is if you order a salad ask for the dressing on the side for takeout. I also requested no fish sauce for my curry because that's the way original owners always made it, though I know most Thai restaurants use it. Out of this world! This place used to make great food. We ate there 6 or 7 times per year and were never disappointed. However, during the last three visits the food has been terrible. We brought some friends in from out of state and everyone was so happy with their food. This place has been consistently excellent. We tried some new dishes tonight and were pleasantly surprised. I reviewed this restaurant in the past but now it is under new management. A great place to go and especially since it's BYOB. Since covid they seem to do more takeout but I highly recommend going and sitting inside. You won't be disappointed. We had some of the entrees, (pad baby corn and pad med ma muang) some soups,(Tom kha and gang jud woonsen), thai salad and noodle dishes (pad kae mao) All were top notch. read more

My mom and cousin have been raving about this place for so long, and after having Thai food for the first time in Thailand this past spring, I was interested in going to check it out. The restaurant was small but very cute, and I really liked all the Thai decorations inside. I ordered a pad see iw with chicken and was amazed at how good it was. Cannot emphasize that enough. The sauce was so sweet and was the perfect complement to the chicken and flat noodles. I'm not really a big noodles person usually, but this was excellent, and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend getting this dish if you go. The portions are huge too and we all had some leftover, even though I really tried my best to finish it because it was so good. In addition to the great food, I thought the service was excellent. We were waited on by multiple people, including who I believe were the owners, and they were all extremely friendly. Their service just made the experience so much better than it already was - there was so much warmth from everybody and it made me happy to be there. I'm looking forward to going again! read more

I like Thai Palace and have gotten take out from here in the past. I think the prices are a bit high. Also, on the day we visited the entire restaurant had an over powering smell of bleach. Idk, if they spilled some or mopped with straight bleach but it was not pleasant. I almost wanted to leave but when you're with others ... What was pleasant was the waitress. The food was decent but I've had better Thai. I've also had worse. The flavor on the soup was excellent and I'd happily recommend that to anyone. The main course included shrimp which was over cooked. The jasmine rice was good. The curry sauce which was described as having coconut seemed to have a bit more coconut then curry. Overall not bad. My companion ordered ice cream and that was served in almost softball sized scoops. Pretty cool actually I'd probably try them again ... read more

A hidden gem! We found this place after reading many great reviews. It's located on a busy road where there aren't many food places. They have a large parking lot. The inside is decently sized. We started with the sample appetizer which had a little bit of everything. The curry puffs were amazing! I never had it before and it reminds me of a samosa but better! I also had the Thai iced tea with tapioca (bubble tea). It was so good I had 2. Husband had the lychee drink which was also great! Comes with jelly! For dinner we got the duck pineapple fried rice. Very flavorful rice and the duck was crispy and delicious. We also got the gai yang chicken. Which is a grilled chicken with sauces and sticky rice. Personally the rice is too sticky for me. Next time I'd opt for regular rice. The dinner was delicious. Very homemade and fresh. For dessert we got fried ice cream. It was a good portion for husband and I and 2 little ones. However, I think they put alcohol on it and lit it on fire. Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy it because I don't drink and I was worried about the alcohol with the kids. Service was great. Our waitress was very kind and wasn't overbearing. She was always at a distance where we could call her if we needed. Overall we will definitely be back. read more

Wolcott, Thai food. Not exactly a connection. But Thai Palace is probably the best Thai I have had in Connecticut. Tried it tonite on an off chance that this would be a good meeting spot for a friend from Woodbury and me driving from Woodbridge. Pics of restaurant facade were not impressive in previous reviews but diners found the dishes pretty favorable so, why not. Fancy myself a bit of Thai foodie with a lot of experience. Checked out menu before my friend arrived and found a well-balanced offering of dishes. So, it was a go. Armed with a bottle of pinot grigio since Thai Palace is a BYOB, we were seated in a very nice spot on a small balcony overlooking small dining room. One owner, Nickie greeted us warmly and another waitstaff member quickly brought us wine glasses and uncorked the bottle. Off to a good start. Started the meal sharing an appetizer special of Thai treats - satay, Thai Palace roll, and wonderful curry puff (don't ask, just order it) served with three sauces. Delicious. Lovely specials but Gang Dang (red curry, coconut milk, basil, bamboo shoots, red pepper and string beans with shrimp is kind of a favorite. The dish was beautifully prepared and just perfectly seasoned. Added just a little touch of one of the four spicy condiments served with the dinner.Perfect. Friend ordered her old favorite, pad thai with chicken (sauteed rice noodles, bean sprouts, bean curd, egg, scallions and peanuts), and she was very happy with dish. The portions are plentiful and beautifully presented. If that wasn't enough, on came dessert which featured a wonderful ice cream with fresh raspberry sauce and touch of whipped cream and fried cheesecake. Yup, that's what I said and oh man, not a fried or cheesecake kind of person but served again with raspberry sauce and dollops of whipped cream - pretty addictive. We did the girly thing and grinned throughout dessert. Waitstaff was awesome, efficient and warm. Owner Nickie couldn't have been nicer and circulated the dining room making sure her clients were well served. Oh, just as things couldn't get better, friend's cell phone was losing its charge and Nickie pointed out there was a charger all set up for patrons. That's a first. In or anywhere near Wolcott (just north of 84 and easy peasy to get to), you have to give this little gem a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

Thai food doesn't get much better than this. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a complaint. If I had to reach, the dumplings were fried a bit too long (if for me I would've ordered steamed) and there weren't enough noodles in the pad se ew. Celebrated a birthday so they gave a free Thai pumpkin coconut custard along with the other desserts we ordered. See pics for what we ate. read more

Awesome, authentic Thai food. The menu tells you what level of spicy each dish is. I had the "Thai salad" and Pad Basil Prik Kring with shrimp which comes with white jasmine rice. The peanut salad dressing was fantastic. I almost licked my plate. My main dish was just at the threshold of being to spicy for me but it was also so tasty I cleaned my plate. I've been here a few times and have always meant to leave a glowing review. Well, today's the day! Disclaimer: I am not a professional food critic, just a small business owner with a big appetite. We recently visited Thai Palace and this place is cozy, the food is delicious, and the service is great. We had the Shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken Pad Thai, Fried Dumplings, Rib Tips, Angel Shrimp, and Nure-Yang (Thai style marinated grilled beef served with sticky rice and spicy sauce). The dishes looked great, with the food arranged in an appealing manner. Each plate was garnished and displayed in a nice way, as you would expect in any sit-down restaurant. Portions were plentiful, and the food tasted great. Every bite was flavorful and warm. The food was hot when it arrived, and you got the sense it was freshly made. Nothing looked like it was pre-cooked and sitting around. The restaurant was cozy, but not tight. We were a party of 5 and we were seated immediately as there were tables suited for both small intimate parties of two, or larger parties like ours. The average cost of each meal was approximately $15, but I didn't do a whole mathematical equation to figure this out. I just browsed through the menu (available online on their website too). We did not need a reservation, and there was no wait time, which was great. Parking was good, even though the place was nearly full, there were several parking spots available. The staff treated you like old friends, they were attentive, and always smiling. Even when they weren't tending to your table you can take a look over and see everyone was enjoying their time there. This is a good sign and I'm happy to support a family owned small business where everyone appears to enjoy what they're doing. The decorations were very commiserate to what you would expect from Thai land. I've never been to Thai land, but from what I've seen in the movies and what I picture it being like, this place nailed it =) The decor is authentic with Buddhas and other Thai stuff. I'm sorry I dont have better ways to describe it but check out their website, they have pictures of the inside. It's very nice and can be a nice romantic place, family friendly and even great for a business dinner or lunch. The place is Bring Your Own Beer/Wine, and at a previous meeting we brought a bottle of wine. The staff provided us with the wine glasses and opened the bottle for us. This is another positive! The ambiance was welcoming, and the tables were talkative yet not intrusive. If you want a quiet zone you're able to pick one of the booths to make it a bit more intimate. I cant speak about the service enough, everyone was very attentive, as our water glasses were never empty or half-full for more than like 30 seconds. They made a great job walking around, asking how our meal and experience was, and without having to ask for refills, they intuitively knew when to stop by and refill. They even made sure we weren't allergic to anything we ordered by advising whether something had peanuts or whatever. Good stuff I hadn't thought about. If you're in the area, stop on by. If you're not in the area, take a trip up here, you won't be disappointed. read more

Thai Palace has a large selection of authentic foods to choose from. Once we walked in, we were greeted and seated. After spending a few minutes looking over their menu, my baby brother and I went with the crab cakes (his choice) and chicken pad kae mao, or better known as drunken noodles. Our food was out within 15 minutes or so which was a pleasant surprise, but we were also the only two there, other than one customer who was there prior to us. The drunken noodles were excellent. My baby brother ate both of the crab cakes, because I personally didn't like them that much but he did. We also ordered the Thai iced tea with black pearls (tapioca) and fried ice cream which were both awesome. The Thai iced tea, which is basically bubble tea was probably among the best I've had. The fried ice cream was vanilla in the center, with raspberry sauce, minus the "fire." The waitress was lovely. After explaining that we don't eat pork, she also made sure to mention that the "fire" component of the ice cream contained alcohol which we did not want. I appreciate when owners and wait staff are attentive, however it can be overbearing sometimes. The prices are a bit high for college kid budget, but its a nice treat if you can afford it. The owner/chef, and the two waitresses were so friendly, as they made conversation and welcomed us newly-moved residents to Connecticut. Apparently, this is the only Thai place in the Waterbury area, and they have been opened for 3 months. The ambiance was nice with Thai artworks and decorations. Ordered the Shrimp Tom Yom Soup and Chicken Pad Thai, and I have no complaints. My bf asked for his dish to be spicy, and they even brought out more chili and spice for him to add to his liking, but he didn't need to since it was perfectly spicy already. We received a complimentary dessert dish of a coconut pumpkin jelly custard pudding type and I absolutely loved it! It was a light dessert and not too sweet. The custard simply melted in my mouth. However, a couple sitting next to our table expressed to the chef that the pudding was "good, but something's missing and they can't figure it out." Hah... Being that it's the only Thai restaurant in the area, I would definitely frequent this place for my Asian food cravings and for the friendly service. read more

Very tasty Thai food. My friends and I ate here while on vacation and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is typical for a Thai restaurant - Pad Thai, Pad See Iw, etc. Everything we had was great, though. It was fast, hot, and just the right amount of spice for each person. The dishes were slightly on the pricier side than I am used to for Thai ($11 for a plate of noodles with chicken, beef is a dollar more), but certainly not exorbinant. What bumped this place up to five stars was the service, which was friendly and helpful. Everyone there was just so nice. The one minor complaint I had was that dinnertime felt a little too dark. I can understand trying to create atmosphere (and there did seem to be plenty), a bit more light would have been nice. There is ample parking at least. In short? There are not a lot of restaurants for Asian cuisine around here, so if you have a craving, definitely try this place out! read more

I hail from Los Angeles, home to Thai Town and a significant Thai community, so my standards are fairly high when it comes to said cuisine. FOOD: Our group had 2 appetizers (meat dumplings & veggie spring rolls), a shrimp noodle dish, veggie curry, and shrimp curry, plus Thai ice teas and the sticky rice and mango dessert for the table. The appetizers were average while the dishes were decent, tasty, and fairly fresh. The ice teas were in nice and large glasses and very refreshing, while dessert did the job it need to. SERVICE: was very friendly and prompt. Our waters were refilled quickly and consistently. AMBIANCE: was nice enough and fairly clean. Decor was slightly upscale and there is a Thai theme. Parking is easy in their free lot. VALUE: is the main weakness here. The meal cost each of us about $31, which is on the high side for Thai food. While this is a solid place, the price would prevent me from becoming a regular. read more

I only visited this place once, but I can tell you that the whole experience was PHENOMENAL! The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. It was decorated with all Thai murals from top to bottom, and they were so colorful and sparkly. It may be why the lighting of the restaurant was low, or the sparkling of the decor would be blinding. The waitresses were very friendly and made sure that you have everything you requested for, down to a refill of a glass of ice cold water. The Thai iced tea was refreshing, just the right amount of condensed milk so that it was not overly sweet. I ordered the chow fun, it tasted really good, only downside was that the beef was a little dry. But still the dish was great. The thing I loved the most was that the owner (or manager?) of the restaurant took the time to come to your table and make sure you are enjoying your food. And when we left, he took the time to thank us personally for stopping by. He did that with every table and every customer getting ready to head out. Where do you see that kind of service nowadays? My husband and I had always driven by this place and one day decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we did! We've been back numerous times since and have yet to be disappointed. This is one place we recommend to everyone! You'd drive right by it if you didn't know better, in that way I think it'd the areas best kept secret. The dining room is small so it might make sense to call ahead if you have a larger party. All of the curries are great and if you love hot food tell them. Like most places that serve hot food, they will be reluctant to bump up the heat, thinking you can't handle it, but if you know you like food extremely hot, let them know. They will also bring out chilies and chili oils/sauces if you ask for them. If you're not into hot curries the noodle dishes do not disappoint. I love the Thai palace noodle with duck. I have also tried both of the grilled selections and both were good, I especially enjoyed the Cornish hen with spicy plum sauce. This place is BYOB but there are two large package stores nearby on Meriden Road. They will provide you with beer mugs, wine glasses and bottle openers if you need them. They do have soft drinks if you don't remember to stop. Try the thai iced tea, it's addicting! The staff is always fantastic. Today I went eating at this wonderful restaurant, Thai palace In Wolcott. I tried something special named Sriracha fried rice which tasted so good, and was medium spicy! Also, me and my closest friends loved the selection of appetizers and the chicken cooked with garlic. We tried the Fried cheese cake for desert and the homemade Thai Iced Tea with pearls. Uhh so yummy ! Talking about service, was very nice even though there was a young lady that couldn't speak English at all, which was always smiling and saying sorry all the times. Then, one Thai lady named Nikki, which was the owner, came and made sure everything was good. She had a lovely smile which made us feeling very welcomed. We loved it, was a night to remember! Our friends turned us on to this place. We were very excited to hear about the BYOB rule and enjoyed a bottle of wine amongst great company. We met the owner and he was very genuine and very grateful. I felt welcome and appreciated the entire time we were there. I ordered the Duck Pad Thai. I, too, have noticed some variety in cooking quality in subsequent visits which is the only reason I had to give it a 4-star rating. I really hope this place is here to stay. Been a few times for lunch. The service is always great, the food is as well. One exception- at lunch they offer soup or a Thai salad. Apparently Thai salad is just like everyone else's salad, with a slice of chicken and a Pringles. Skip the salad, enjoy everything else. Love this place. Edit - I've been back several times. The food is always great. Understand that when you order their highest level of spice it will be insanely hot. I've eaten a lot of spicy Thai.
