Orchids too each dish.

This has been one of my favorite places for Thai food. But it uas changed hands a few times since the original Owners. I am happy to report that South Side is back. Super good food and great variety. It was pretty busy when we arrived with four other tables. The wait for our food was not long and the food was hot and tasted great. We started with the Thai sampler for appetizer then we ordered the cashew tofu and Khao Soi Chicken (curry chicken over rice noodle with lime and chilli). Servings were sufficient and we took enough leftover home for a full meal. Super happy. We will be back.

Dining room separate from the pickup counter so no sudden chills when the door is opened!

A delicious little Thai place on South Colony Rd. I must have passed this tiny gem dozens of times but while searching this site for a new Thai restaurant in the area- South Side Thai popped up!! It was a quiet Wednesday evening so there were only 2 tables occupied- then another half way through our meal. It was pleasant snd the waitstaff came over to our table immediately and greeted us with menus and took our drink order. Within minutes we knew what we wanted even though the selection was pretty vast! The crispy pad thai was tasty and fresh! As well as the Spring Rolls appetizer! My dining partner had Hot Basil Chicken and enjoyed very much as well! We will definitely go back and dine in /or do a take out order with even more variety!! 5 stars!

Excellent food and service! A friend raved about this hidden gem and I couldn't wait to try it! i ordered a thai iced tea, crab rangoon for an appetizer to share, and the wonton pad thai as my entree. My dinner was so inventive, something new to try, and absolutely delicious! Our waitress was also very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. I can't wait to return for another meal!

Crab meat fried rice

I ordered the crab meat fried rice and shrimp pad thai, mild. They were both absolutely amazing!the crab meat was real and actual lump crab meat. They also give you a sweet sauce to pour on the rice and a lime. The sweet and sour mixture takes the rice to the next level. I will definitely come back and this is my new go to Thai food spot.

The soup was fine, nothing special

Food was bad, the place was dull. But the worst part was that the waitress finger( the big part of the finger) was wounded and infected badly. It was not covered and it looked so bad. I couldn't eat anything she was bringing

I hadn't visited this place for the last few years since the new management took over (almost 4-5 years ago). One day while we were in the area, we decided to give it a try. To our surprise, the food was as good as before. They do offer online ordering as well phone in orders. My family loves the chicken soup/fried rice options. I am not a big Thai food lover considering how sparse the options are, mostly for vegetarians. I specify no meat/chicken/egg/fish sauce always while ordering. They seem to be accommodating such requests.

Fantastic Green beef noodle menu. It's perfect test I have never tried it before in a Thai restaurant. I call this menu Thai Spaghetti. And I ordered more Togo for Choo Chee Duck

Pad see ew extra egg

Delicious Thai comfort food with beautiful presentation. The Pad Kra Pao was bold and flavorful, and the Pad see ew with extra egg were perfectly balanced. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return!

We heard South Side Thai recently reopened under new ownership, with a chef that we used to love from a restaurant that's now closed. We found it to be the same food we knew and loved from the other spot! I had never been to South Side prior to this visit, so I can't say how it compares to the previous ownership, but we were very happy with our meal here. The Choo Chee duck is one of our favorite dishes from this chef! The food arrived to the table quickly, and the new owners were friendly and welcoming. The dining room was clean and inviting. A great spot to know about in Wallingford for Thai!

I came to this restaurant for a very simple meal. Many times I don't have a huge appetite and I crave soup. My friend joined me. We both ordered soup Tom yom and tom kha. Both were amazing. We actually were kinda of gross and switched to experience both. The hostess was a sweetie pie. The restaurant had regulars. You could tell because of the way they spoke to each other. I'd definelty recommend and I want to go back for dinner or lunch specials when I have a bigger appetite. The music was nice. It wasn't too loud and classical. The ambiance was perfect for a date night. When you view the outside it's not a full picture of the interior. It's a relaxing feel with fire places and waterfalls. Absolutely beautiful.

Mango sticky rice

Excellent. The decor, the service, and above all the food. I ordered yellow seafood curry, crab rangoons, and mango sticky rice. First of all, the portions were perfect, if a little on the extra side. The food, was everything it should be and more. The rangoons had no air pockets and had a great clean crab taste. So I'm guessing they use real crab in the filling. The yellow seafood curry, was perfection. I ordered medium spice and by the end of my meal my nose was a little runny. So the spice level was definitely there, and built up nicely. The seafood mix has squid, shrimp, and scallops. I'd say it was a very good deal at 20$. The mango sticky rice was good too. I was very happy to find that my fresh mango was a very good ripeness level, which was a bit impressive for late March. All in all, definitely recommend for anyone looking for some delicious, comforting, authentic, thai food.

Food was extremely flavorful and delicious...the sukiyaki noodles were so good had such a crazy flavor! The mango curry was also great it had an amazing sweet and spicy combo. And the bubble tea was great as well. Please come here

I was disappointed with the drunken noodles. They were very spicy but lacked flavor and boldness of authentic drunken noodles.

I went for lunch last week and Param Noodle. It was absolutely packed with flavor. The rich creamy peanut sauce made my mouth sing with joy. The flat noodles were cooked perfectly and the chopped peanuts on topped added just the right texture contrast needed for the dish. I added chicken for my protein and the white meat chicken was moist and tender. I was so pleased I went back the next day for lunch with a friend. She order the Pla Rad Prik (spice level 4 peppers), and I ordered the garlic fried rice. She had never been and thoroughly enjoyed the food. I was so pleasantly surprised from our first visit at Sakana that I had to make a return trip later…read morethe same week. It was a humble reminder that you don't need to go to a culinary destination to find good food. Cheshire Connecticut may not be known for its food scene, however, I found Sakana was a genuine diamond in the rough. My expectations were admittedly low going in. My level of skepticism is always high when I see the "Asian Bistro" moniker, as it is frequently used for restaurants to try to appeal to the masses at the expense of quality by having a "jack-of-all-trades" menu that lacks the technical intricacies and mastery required for specific dishes. Additionally, these establishments tend to follow a "cookie-cutter" menu and offer the same boring dishes you can find at every other Asian Bistro. Even when initially walking towards the restaurant, I had my doubts. The exterior of Sakana honestly looked more like a clinic than a restaurant. Once I saw the menu however, my skepticism shifted towards optimism. For a local bistro, they feature a surprisingly extensive wine and cocktail menu, including premium sake options. I was particularly impressed to find toro on the menu; although it's undoubtedly becoming more of a trend in Connecticut, I was nevertheless happy to see it offered at Sakana as well. Overall I liked their sushi selections and everything I ordered was well-prepared and tasted fresh. We ordered a chicken and broccoli for our daughter and found the chicken tender and broccoli perfectly cooked. That may not sound impressive to those reading, but you'll be surprised how many restaurants fail to execute this baseline dish correctly. The service, although pleasant, was probably the only "weak link" of our experiences here. The quality of service was noticeably inconsistent between our two visits, and they would benefit vastly from having a more reliable and experienced front-of-house team to match the execution coming from the kitchen and sushi bar. Despite this minor gripe, Sakana was a standout. As long as I'm in the area, they will definitely be among the top of my list of places to eat!

So friendly. Is the food exceptional? To me no, but my parents enjoy it. Tonight we started with crab rangoons. Pretty good. Sauce on the side not very exciting. A chili sauce would be better. I got a sushi roll with White tuna inside and cooked shrimp on top and wasabi mayo. I forget the name of the roll but it was better than the two times I've ordered takeout. Miso soup was also good. Their soup bowls are in the shape of a heart which is super cute. Dad got some sort of a mixed protein dish with brown sauce (had shrimp, chicken and beef). Mom got the chicken and garlic sauce. They both got fried rice on the side. I tried it and it was very bland. Dad also got a salad with his meal and the ginger dressing was not very good. Red coloring to it. Usually ginger dressing is more on the orange side. Dad also got the Malaysian chicken coconut soup to start and it could use a bit more flavor. Was a bit watery. Mom loved her sweet and sour soup. Nice that this place is 5 minutes away. Cheshire needs more restaurants. Def not my fav restaurant in town though. Food to me is just ok.

I walked into a space where the owners were warm and engaged in a way that came through consistently, and the restaurant had the feel of a place run with real investment in what comes out of the kitchen. The pho is the centerpiece and it earns that position. I tried the broth, which was light and clean, built with depth rather than heaviness, and the beef was tender throughout. The short rib and oxtail versions are the ones to order when available, and the brisket is the reliable fallback when they are not. The rare steak and tendon option is worth trying for anyone who wants to go further into the menu. I also ordered the pork vermicelli bowl, another strong choice, with well seasoned pork and fresh vegetables that held up against the noodle base. It came with a spring roll component that added to the overall value of the dish. The banh mi was flavorful and well assembled, and the fresh rolls were worth ordering alongside whatever else I got. Vietnamese iced coffee and Thai tea were both solid and complemented the food well. Service was friendly, and the owners were visibly present and genuinely hospitable. The restaurant accommodates families well, with the kitchen going out of its way on small details like kid friendly utensils and high chairs that make the experience easier for parents. For Vietnamese food in this part of Connecticut, it is the kind of spot worth going out of my way for.
