From the many office depots and the staples stores you can never find the notebooks that have the creative sayings and the striking graphic prints with colors that are eye catching. There are many offices supply places that you can find the college pieces but there are some that most students want the designs and the way it's going to go with the dorm room. Typo is a store that can be considered as the ultimate dorm room supply store and the many things they sell there is the many things that students can relate to for what they want to have in them. The many times that I have visited the typo stores I have seen the many merchandise lines they have from the music notebooks and the print style frames of the famous singers and rappers that are performing currently. The many items that they have there are made for the students that are on the go they have print socks and creative coffee mugs yes with most students they do drink coffee. I wanted to find a great planner the many had there it surprised very much, and they had sales on the many different styles and the brands they had there when you want something stylish yet not too expensive. To find two items that were on special to get both on special it was buy one get one 50% off I was able to get a a date book for 15.00 and a notebook that was 15.00 for 7.50 the many things that I had seen and the many plush Items the salesclerk hade helped me find the ones that I liked. With the Typo store when you take a look at the store its one store that you can get the many items that you need for college living and the many designs you may need and the extra small things that would be nice to decorate your dorm. The San Diego Library store has something close to the Typo store, but the Typo store carries many things you can take with you to class and the much needed carry all bags when you head off to class. I have found that the Typo store has been one of the busiest and the store has been one of the highest grossing with many colleges breaking for holidays that will be coming up. Shhhhh don't tell anyone, this is my secret shop for those cool unique gifts you never know where I get them. I love the selection. Today I needed a new journal. I mean journaling is healthy, right? While I was there, I saw a waterproof speaker for my bubble bath time. While I normally shop for everyone else perfect gift, today was totally about me. The staff was super helpful. And we even traded pod-cast lists. It feels like an independent-ish neighborhood store, with cute, gifts for just about everyone on your list. Even you :) Stop here, cuteness awaits. read more

I had NO effin' idea this store was even located at Fashion Valley. I guess I don't frequent this side of the mall or something. We just finished lunch at Nordstroms Cafe and friend wanted to buy stationary stuff for his niece. I figured he'd be SOL as what store at FV carries stationary for teenage kids. Well. TYPO does! It's honestly such a fun place to explore for stationary, memo books, PENS, trinkets, etc. Don't expect DAISO prices or quality of products. The stuff here seems well made and nicely stocked. I am a pen FUUHHHREEEEK. I have an embarrassing collection of random pens that I collect/nab from restaurants at check signing/buy/etc. The pen collection here is extensive and cute. I ended up buying a battery operated fan pen for $10 (see pic). I made sure to ask the cashier to show me how to change the battery (it only requires one AAA battery so yah!). So let's see how this pen holds up. Friend ended up buying a few notebooks, pens, birthday cards, and water coloring pencils. If you donate $2, you get to choose from 3 totes (he chose an adorable panda one). Cashier was friendly and check out was quick. Randomly stopped in here to see what they carry. They carry stationery, pens, and other random items to make good stocking stuffers or white elephant gifts. I saw an awfully lot of of notebooks with cool and distinctive covers for sale. Only downside is the price. Place is really small and was pretty crowded when I dropped in. I'm a huge fan of this small store for one reason in particular -- I love notepads, pends, papers and organizational office supplies. I always visit this store whenever I make a trip to the Mission Valley Mall. Sometimes I can refrain from buying gear; but at other times, not ... especially if there are some good things on sale. I definitely make sure to check out the sale section, which can sometimes be on the left side of the store (I found a box of miscellaneous items once; the box was just labeled "ON SALE" so I just sifted through that). On my most recent trip, the spirals were on sale, and they were located on a large table toward the middle of the store. This was one of the best Typo sales ever - either three large or three small spirals were on sale, and there were different designs of each. I ended up getting three large spirals and kept it as that ... I was tempted to get three more but had to tell myself that I didn't need SIX spiral notebooks, regardless of how cute the designs were. Some of my favorite featured designs from this store so far have been the foodie-themed ones (sometimes there aren't many of these, but my planner has donuts all across it, which is really cute) and some of the other girly prints (Hello Kitty, etc.). Sometimes, though, I end up buying gifts for people from here, just because some of the prints with sarcastic sayings are downright funny! The pens here seem to be really popular; there's a great assortment and I always see customers buying pens, but I haven't bought any yet. I tend to veer toward the notepads and organizational tools - I got my planner for the year from here, as well as several notebooks and cards. When cards are on sale, that's a huge bonus as well. I know when I went to this store on New Year's Day, there were a bunch of Christmas cards on sale for $1 each. Let's just say I stocked up on some so I'll be ready when Christmas rolls around this year. It's always so fun to shop at Typo because I never know what I'm going to find. The themes and featured prints keep changing, so I never really see the same stuff (except for some of the pens, desk décor, etc.). If you're visiting this store for the first time, I would just recommend taking in all the details - the prints are really cute, but sometimes you'll have to do some digging to find a specific one. But, most importantly, keep your eyes peeled for sale items, because you might end up scoring some really sweet deals! read more

I really love this place. So much, that while on a weekend vacation, I stopped into this place about 6 times. Not joking, I love this place. Their stuff is quality, but left me wondering ... is it worth it? Yes, yes it is worth it. I love anything to have to do with organization and office/house goods. It took so much for me to not want to buy one of each here. Their stuff has quality behind it with an amazing price to match. Their associates were so kind and not pressuring at all. Even one did mention she had a hard time trying to figure out what she wants as well. Can not say enough good things about this place. I really like this store. It's got a cool funky vibe perfect for finding unique gifts and home accessories. I've only been in a couple of times now, but it has quickly become the place I know I will shop for funny cards, great wrapping supplies and gifts for those I know that are difficult to buy for. It is attached to a clothing store that looks like it specializes in natural made items- not really my style so I haven't ventured over into that side. My one complaint about this store is the area for the line- there isn't one! There is a table right in front of the registers so I wasn't really sure which side of it to stand on but, no matter which side I picked, I was in the way of someone trying to browse. Same with the card section. It was impossible for me to stand and browse cards because I was always in the way of the other people trying to browse or walk by. I love this store. It has so many cute items; I just wish it was bigger! The like to get cards here for every occasion. I have sot some really funny birthday cards and really nice wedding and baby cards. They have some really great planners too, if you like those. You can get some super cute room and office décor as well. They have tons of pens in really cute colors but I warn, they aren't the best pens. You are better off going to Target and buying a pack of bic's. The prices are reasonable. The staff is always upbeat and friendly. This store is an extension of Cotton On but with home decor or gifts focus and you'll find it across from Old Navy and next to JC Penney. I really want to give this store 4 stars because for once, these "trinkets" that you would typically find at other stores for 3x the price, are actually priced practically here. There are several $1, $5, $10 max $20 items. They have stamps, hipster calendar blocks, letter frames. I'm planning a wedding this year and would probably come back here to buy some diy items. And the style is spot on. As I discussed with the friendly cashier, this is definitely the the anthro or urban outfitters apartment / gift section with decent prices. I would totally recommend this place for things to get for a colleague or friend. But -.5 stars because although things were cute, it's not stuff you need need for yourself. Also the store is a little disorganized and things seemed a little scattered or packaging was crumpled for some items. Maybe because it was after Christmas, things are crazy! This is a cute stationary/small goods store. They are a branch off of the store called Cotton On. I walked in to browse but then I saw planners for the new 2014 year and thought....hmm I need a new planner. But then I walked passed it looking at the other goodies in the store. They had cute iPad bags and cases but nothing really caught my eye till I saw the 50% off sign. The discount was toward the planner which lit a light bulb and I thought it might as well be a sign. So I scored a leather planner for $5. Overall cute little place but with little to no customer service. I wasn't even greeted and hence the 3 star rating. But I do recommend this place for cute nick-nacks and goodies for your desk, office, or home. read more

This is one of those quirky stores you always go to. They so many fun, dainty, unique items I always spend way too much time in there. My most recent purchases were food shaped erasers, 5 for $5 pens and a cupcake printed notebook. I know a odd variety of things. But that's what you find there. Give this place a go for sure.
