They showed me how to run the machine and got it hooked up to my truck. The next day, turning the machine in was a breeze. Allied made me feel welcomed and cared for unlike many other construction retail or rental places.

1ST EXPERIENCE in Oct. 2011. We rented a 17ft truck to move son from Durand, MI to Rochester…read moreHills, MI. The office was clean and the employees were polite and helpful and professional. We were given a truck w/ approx. 225,000 miles on it and as soon as my husband started driving it, he said the steering felt off. The truck was clean & comfortable for the 3 of us and fit all my son's belongings. We unloaded in Rochester Hills and rented their $7 utility dolly which was very helpful too. On the way back to Flint to return the truck, we made it to Lake Orion and broke down on the side of the road. We called Emergency Services (based in Arizona) and the lady on the phone kept us on the phone for a half hour BEFORE she would even let the tow truck to come get us, also she was asking my husband to look under the hood etc to help figure out what was wrong with the truck, he was getting dirty and is NOT a mechanic. Also she kept insisting on a specific address of where we were at and we kept telling her we were on a corner and the 2 crossroads and that there was no address and she kept insisting for quite some time until finally half hour later she called us a tow. Then she called back to say the tow truck would be another 45 minutes. When the tow truck arrrived in an hour (Arizona called to make sure he made it. ). The tow truck company NEUNERS was exceptional and after he figured out everything wrong w/ our truck they told him to drive us to the Flint Uhaul office to get our vehicle and then for him to tow the truck to Inkster to deadline it. He told us they often deadline trucks at approx. 250,000 miles. He said Uhaul usually uses the higher mileage trucks on local or short distance moves and the newer low mileage trucks for long distance or out of state moves. (Makes sense.) I twittered @Uhaul_Cares and they were very compassionate and asked me to please email my experience to them. I did and they emailed me back an apology and assured me they were letting the tow truck company know I was pleased with our driver and that they were looking into the problem areas we experienced to make sure they don't happen again to anyone else. They also sent me a very generous voucher for money off our next move since I had told them we needed to move more family members in late Oct. We greatly appreciated that. OUR SECOND RECENT EXPERIENCE with this same Flint location. Was the end of Oct. We reserved and rented a 26' truck. Again the office was clean and the employees were all friendly and helpful. Again we rented a $7 utility dolly. This time the office gave us a truck with only 99,000 miles on it and we only needed to move items from our home in Durand, MI to a storage unit in Swartz Creek MI 11 miles away. So obviously they had improved already in that short amount of time. The truck ran perfectly throughout the move and held our entire household of belongings. This large truck was only $40 and then it was 79 cents per mile and well worth it. We would go back to this location again in the future. We would have only given Uhaul a 1 or 2 after the first experience BUT we genuinely respect a company that can admit when they made a mistake and that they look into it right away and with professionalism and compassion and then do what they can to make it up to you and keep your patronage in the future. So for that AND for a perfect experience on rental number 2 we give this location a 4.
